A Beautiful, Scenic, well-maintained park. We went on hot summers day and it was absolutely packed! We decided to do the boating this time (£5 per person for 1 hour). The queue goes down a lot quicker than you think. The ice cream van 🚐 queue doesn’t seem to change but it does go down, promise. Mr Whippy still doing his thing. 🍦
A great place to for a walk. Lots of couples, family and friends out and about.
A pleasant walk around the ground, even for those with limited mobility.
The worst part about this park is trying to find parking. I’d advise getting the tram 🚋, it lands right outside the park and it’s inexpensive. Definitely worth a visit. 💫
A. F.
Stunning place with a beautiful lakeside walk, and woods and wildlife to amaze everyone in the family. Check before you go that cafe is open as it wasn't when we visited on a rainy Saturday (takeaway available). Playground for little ones and and boats for hire for an hour on the lake.
B. _.
The ducks likes my cheesy doritos and I made duck friends crage and and Sarah. Despite me feeding your animals you would not let me on a canoe. But the field is also nice me and my friend are sat listening to buddy Holly by weezer.
j. n.
Great place. My son loves the walks around the lake seeing all the wildlife
E. K.
Fantastic place well worth a visit with Highfields Park next door. Regular changing schedule of theatre plays, museum exhibitions along with excellent catering options. A great improvement on the old pavilion that used to stand on the same site .
D. H.
Very nice place to visit to see a regular changing (every 3 to 4 months ) art exhibition. Small cafe to visit before you start, which is reasonably priced, and serves great scones and coffee. Small carpark for visitors, and not for students, as the premises are close to Nottingham University campus. Nice lake outside to see wildlife, have a canoe ride or walk around for a stroll
K. W.
An amazing and beautiful place to visit, free parking. Public toilets and a reasonable priced cafe.
Going on the walk and feeding the squirrels is so much fun.
E. F.
Fantastic place for families,.couples, disabled, nice relaxing area
W. z. J.

Visited a couple of times here, the cafe is nice and clean. The installation were went to set most recently was a bit poor to be honest so not really sure how to rate this place.
Facilities are great, installations questionable.
R. W. C. T.
Great gig, good price. Could do with some more information on parking for non local people. Nice venue.
N. S.
It has toilets a decent cafe and some art on display. Always changing and well used by the community of Nottingham. Highfields Park is lovey to walk around and has recently been refurbished. Boating Lake is great fun as is the mini golf. Plenty to do, free parking and well worth a visit!
G. P.
I have been to Lakeside as a performer with various shows a lot of the last few years, including my own company The Fabularium. This truly is a wonderful place with the nicest theatre staff ever. They have such a good programme of work for literally everyone and run a free outdoor festival every year called ‘Wheee! Fest’. Check it out.
A great café with great cakes and on the doorstep of a beautiful lake with everything family friendly with loads for children around the building from little galleries inside to a big playground outside.
Love it here.
A. H.
Friendly staff welcome both university students and the local community as my favourite coffee shop on campus. The view of the lake is beautiful and you can even get interaction with the many geese and ducks who inhibit the surrounding area. The breakfast deal before 1030am is quality, they even do veggie sausage cobs 👌
In the evening, events are run and are well worth an evening out. We recently went to see Flight, on tour after the Edinburgh Fringe, and the VR experience was frighteningly good.
All in all, a fantastic university and community venture in Nottingham.
K. B.
Large free car park, all staff were great, good view from well banked seating in theatre.
J. R.
Nice hall in a lovely location on the campus; pretty good sound quality
M. W.
Always a great place to visit, with scrummy cafe.
P. B.
Had meeting in a very nice room with afternoon tea.
M.
I need to spend more time here, it's a treasure trove of creative works and live performances and it's right beside a tram stop. I've been a couple of times now for different shows and always enjoyed it. Now that lockdown is easing back I'm going to make an effort to visit more performances here.
A. P.
Very beautiful and peaceful place to be.
They have a small golf course for family entertainment and a park too where the kids can play around.
H. N.
Amazing time i had there god bless them all 🙏🏻xx
L. C.
Excellent exhibitions. The PRE booked slots means you often get the exhibition space to yourself
G. R.
Excellent place to spend a few hours playing on the grass, get a tan, rent a boat in the lake or get a hot drink in the coffee shop.
J. B.
Excellent exhibition and very friendly staff in the gallery
S. S.
Always enjoy a walk round the lake here but was nice to see a show for once. The card Ninja was brilliant and will definitely be returning to see something else there soon
H. J.
We went to the events with the baby and it was very good.
K. t.
Excellent venue for.culture and art and the gallery for superb exhibitions
K. E.
It's a fantastic place for all the family. There is so much to see and do throughout the year. The play area and lake a lovely in all seasons. Three park itself is well kept. The cafe serves a great range a food and drinks. There is always something interesting on at the theatre again especially for children. There are at exhibitions and fun activities especially in the school holidays. And now there is even crazy golf.
S. M.
Love it go everyone in Nottingham just to use park will try arts centre on colder days
N. B.
Always something a bit different here. Expand your artistic outlook and support the wonderful talent
A. F.
Always worth a visit. The art exhibition changes regularly so variety and something new is always available. Good focus on history relevant to the surrounding area and culture. Good cafe. Not unreasonable pricing. Lovely walk around the grounds. Good range of birds and some interesting water fowl. Good place to see Herons nesting on the island.
S. B.
The art centre is an affordable place to visit, set in the university grounds with a cafe and a great play area for kids. The lake is set in a park with great amenities like crazy golf etc. Lovely place for a relaxing walk. Very easy to get to by public transport, not so easy to park a car as it is free but limited. In nice weather it is very popular to locals for that reason.
Car parking though free (polite warning) is strictly monitored by university security for use to visiting the grounds.
C. T.
I really enjoy coming here for a tea and a piece of cake in the lovely surroundings of university park. The staff are friendly and helpful, with a great selection on offer. The theatre space is also great for watching performances - it's a nice intimate space as there's no raised stage - with excellent transport links. However, there may be difficulty parking if it is a busy day or there is an event on as there's limited space.
N. S.
Just went to the cafe but the coffee and scone were delicious
K. B.
Went with my nan, the soup was delicious! The staff are kind and there lots to view.
N. H.
Lovely cafe but pity no dogs allowed inside.
M. W.
Fabulous place for the whole family. Regular different art exhibitions that are very accessible and free 😊 I do recommend donations so that they can continue to offer these. Small archeology exhibition with a good selection of artifacts. Outside area has been well thought out. Mini golf at an affordable price. Boating Lake that you can boat on. Play area with an obstacle course that will suit all ages. The walk around the lake is beautiful and you can buy bird feed from the gallery. Awesome place.
W. A.
Beautiful place all season ❤️
C. M.
This is a small art gallery, but regularly houses fantastic exhibitions. Never disappoints. Free entry, but booking necessary under covid restrictions.
M. s.
Went to the lunarium with my daughter had a great time
F. L.
Nice cafe, great place for a run or walk and good playground. Parking can be difficult.
P. S.
Very good crazy golf (if a little expensive). Decent cafe - nice sandwiches. Good playground. Lovely walk around the lake. Boat rides. Leave the tram at the University stop and it's right there.
S. M.
I grew up on here too. Kids will love the lake the trees the park. Mini golf course and of course the boating lake. Great day for all the family. For adults a great place to chill and have some quite time and coffee and cake when the children are at school. Plenty of trams and buses to get you there from all over Nottinghamshire.
I. S.
Excellent venue for small group/chamber music performance. Friendly staff, good parking and refreshments available.
T.
Went for scones with jam and cream, which were delicious (but you have to bear in mind that the jam and cream is as much as the scone is, so can work out quite pricy)
Boating lake was good, and we went on a canoe for half an hour and my 4 year old loved it
Play area and grassy areas are prefect for families.
Can sometimes be difficult to get a park.
M. K.
I always love going to Highfields Park for boating with my friends. It’s just so nice to be there and enjoy the sun 😊
E. P.
Very good place to visit, very peaceful, lovely to walk around, great fun for children as they have a fantastic play area. If you want to you can go on one of the boats on the lake too. Will definitely go again.
C. G.
Interesting museum rooms, excellent outside play area for children of all ages, shop, two indoor areas to eat and a fabulous lake to walk around. This is easily got to by tram from the city centre, stopping virtually across the road.
D. W.
We come here a lot for the children's shows they put on this time we were there for "soonchild" which was beautifully done. We have also been for the luminarium in the summer that is not to be missed plenty of parking and the cafe has some of the nicest cakes going.
J. B.
Great hall for music. Watched my friend's concert there and it was great!
R. H.
A very nice spot to stop for a drink and a snack, if you've enjoyed a stroll around the lake.
There's usually something interesting on, so do check the gallery's website.
Oh, the nearby car parking spaces are a tad narrow, so arrive early, if you need a good gap.
M. A.
This site includes a small, free to the public art centre with several spaces for interesting art exhibitions, family arts activities, themed archeological exhibitions at the neighbouring museum and theatre showing a range of music, comedy and dramas. Annual events like the children's festival with free and paid for performances and activities and Chinese New Year are always a treat.
R. M.
Popped in first thing to meet a colleague and found it was already filling up. And with good reason: there are decent views from half the café of the University lake and park. Prices are fairly typical, but service was prompt.
L.
What has happened to this attraction ???? The cafe should be open until 5pm but they start packing away at 4pm. The Golf/Football leaves a lot to be desired. When we went there last week we had to pay full price, but most of the football holes were full of water. The staff were spreading weed killer on weeds and nettles on the course. This should not have been done when people had paid to use it and the smell was awful. We had a 6 year old and two year old with us and were very worried about them breathing these toxic fumes.surely a reduced rate should have been offered and this toxic weed killer should not have been used when public was present
B. S.
It was amazing time, the lady who performed was good dancer , almost wanted to join in with it
J. D.
Lovely place, with lovely staff.
They have a great events and have an amazing cafe too with so many cakes.
You can also buy food for the ducks here!
L. L.
Always interesting collections and often great events for families during school holidays. Lake and play area are good outdoor activities too. The cafe is a little pricey but the food is good quality.
S. M.
Always offering interesting talks and exhibitions.
C. M. W.
This is a busy café close to the university campus so frequented by students. It has a range of pastries, cakes, savoury dishes and food prepared quickly. It's part of the theatre building and thee is a gallery on the ground floor. The view onto the lake or the park is relaxing.
D. R.
Nice venue, easy to park, very good acoustics, strings and choristers sounded immaculate, just enough seating and an excellent view was afforded. Nice staff and excellent concert.
K. B.
Lovely walk, park and boating lake. Cafe serves great food and drink - alcohol included! A little pricey but worth it. Free parking
J. C. S.
A nice building with a well sized coffee shop and in beautiful surroundings, very close to the tram stop. However. The layout was very confusing and the exhibitions were closed so we were left with little to do. Hope to return again to see the galleries and theatre.
R. B. -. R. S. -. A.
Fabulous exhibition by Lustre. Some of the nicest displays of individual art, ceramics and jewellery I have seen. Although not cheap in most cases, the price reflected the skill used to achieve the designers objective. Well done to all.
V. T.
I visited the luminarium with my one year old and we had an absolute blast!
Firstly, the venue is right next to a a tram stop (toton lane park and ride), however despite it being busy we managed to park right next to the box office! The box office staff were friendly and helpful although the baby change facilities were utterly filthy (probably due to the number of people using it that day and the fact that people are disgusting 😒) we booked the priority tickets which I was very glad for since they only cost an extra pound and the non-priority wait was well over an hour! The luminarium staff were well organised and friendly and we were let in two mins after our allotted time. Once in you could stay as long as you liked, which was a good job since my little boy absolutely loved exploring all the different rooms (he's just walking and is fascinated by lights so it reallynwas just perfect for him). Inside it was busy but not overcrowded, babies and kids were happily playing on the floor, people were taking the chance to have a sit and relax so I think they got the numbers just right to keep the queue moving without affecting the experience inside. There were also plenty of staff inside that were making sure everyone was happy and safe, and who were more than happy to take a photo of me and the baby. A really great use of an afternoon! You could get round it in 20 minutes but we spent two hours in there! Highly recommended, especially if you have a youngster that's just walking.
S. H.
Great park, outdoor crazy golf is open right now along with boating. Brilliant play area, free parking and loads of space.
I. N.
Good coffee, great place to loose yourself. Once you're done, head to the kiosk in the arts centre and buy some bird feed for the ducks in the lake. Such.a.perfect.day.
M. X.
It's a spectacular place where you can spend endless hours doing countless activities such as kayaking, going for a picnic, play at the parks and get some ice cream while you're at it!! 10/10
C. W.
Terrific small concert venue with excellent acoustics. Loses a star because I don't find the seats very comfortable. Good coffee in the bar/café
N. B.
A wonderful evening to hear Guy Masterson: A Christmas Carol...
P. d. W.
Nice cafe, and arts all over the place. Parking can be tricky as spaces are limited, so use public transport if you can. Take a walk around the lake, buy an ice-cream and ignore the geese.
S. W.
Absolutely horrified to discover Notts Council have chopped down all the beautiful cherry trees lining the avenue to the Lakeside centre(there's a picture on Google maps that I've taken of then in full glorious bloom) and it doesn't look like they are stopping at that. Seems ironic considering there's an exhibition at the Lakeside centre about the importance of our trees and forests!!! Really shocked at this environmental vandalism.
B. O.
Great venue
Great venue, great staff
P. W.
The walk round the lake was lovely & across the stepping stones, & call in the cafe after.
or
An Ideal place for a picnic, with a park for little ones, & a row boat for the slightly older
N. W.
Lovely events center and cafe space. Located on the beautiful and very green university campus. Well situated for tram and public transport links with plenty of parking
J. P.
A valuable resource for the city whether you go for the arts, exhibitions, galleries, museums, talks, café or park; and it's on the tram route.
R. M. U.
We visited the luminarion the kids loved it. Both have sensory issues and staff kept it very calm and not noisy at all
The arts centre felt a little unorganised and was hard to locate things inside. As reception was so busy I went to arts room the lady in there as soon as I got to the door. “Have you booked” no we’ll go to reception and turned around and walked away
I said I was wondering where some thing was the answer as she walked away murmured learn to read
I’m sure this isn’t all the staff there but put a bitter taste on the visit.
A notice board at main entrance with what’s on and where to find it would help
P. n. S.
Plenty to do. Cafes. Art galleries. Boat hire on Lake. Big playground. Nice walk around the lake and new crazy golf course! Only pain is limited car parking which is at its worst around midday
M. C.
Modern with wonderful acoustics! Great parking! Overall a fantastic venue
F. f.
Check for opening before you go. We went last Tuesday when it was torrential rain. I dropped my wife and grand children there whilst I went to do an errand and go back. My wife rang me to say the place was closed.
The Lakeside cafe was also closed so they couldn't go in and shelter. I went back and collected them. Wife and child of 4 extremely cold. Approximately another 20 people also waiting for it to open. None of the banners or their website state it was shut on 2nd January. Even googling the website told us it was 'open today' very disappointing. Eventually told by a friend that their facebook page stated it was shut. Fat lot of use.
Obviously administration problems somewhere. Have been to exhibitions there before and they've been very good.
F. H.
Lovely grounds, great for short walks, mainly flat ground. Varied events throughout the year. Lustre every November is a must for art lovers.
G. W.
We attended an epic free family event here in which we got to make drawing robots.
It’s a nice space, and the event we went to was brilliant - we stayed until the very end as it was so much fun.
P. P.
Just visited A Little Lustre 2021, worth a visit. Check it out on the Lakeside Arts website
K. B.
Voluptuous cake, nice view, but noisy and busy.
I had a croissant with brie. It had a bit of extra salad garnish, and had been nicely prepared, but had dried out a bit.
R. C.
It's a great place to go for younglings and older crowds there's culture and events held regularly next to a lake with a nice scenic walk lacks a larger carpark so I'd advise finding alternative means sometimes during peak hours
P. N.
Really nice venue... Cafe's good but pretty draughty with the doors at the back being so slow to close. OK in the warm weather of course.
S. T.
Reasonable playpark. Nice but pricey cafe. Ducks, geese, rowboats, crazy golf. It's penny arcades away from a trip to the seaside.
V.
Always good theatre shows here and it's so nice to take my son to see the ducks, walk around the lake, look around the galleries and have a spot of lunch in the cafe
S. S.
Lovely place to visit, lots of things to do, totally kid friendly. The cafe is excellent with lovely and friendly staff. Highly recommended visiting
R. E.
Lots of interesting shows and events. Good sized café near the lake. From memory I think it's level access to the café which is on the ground floor. Do check though.
K. C.
Great venue. Good seating with plenty of leg room. Handy for the Nottm tram, which is useful because parking can be a pain.
A. P.
Slow service at the counter it wasn't very busy the time, the guy on the till was about to ignore me and serve the woman behind me until his I said something. The mars muffin was really dry too.
J. g.

K. M.
It's a really nice place to relax, have a walk, take kids to the park, there's a bit of something for everyone
B. H.
Interesting exhibition about witches in fairytales. Food is very good in cafe but it was very cold due to the gale blowing in everytime someone entered by the double doors.
A. I.
Lovely walk around the lake, a cafe and a playarea for children too.
L. V.
Great location. Beautiful grounds. Cafe, park and crazy golf. Plus take a boat on the lake. Dog friendly
M. H.
Solid coffee, great cakes, great view, super nice staff, just a slightly utilitarian table/decor style.
F. Z.
Good size cafe and kids friendly as well. Not that many choice of menu though but fair for late brunch.
D. M.
Beautiful place. Decent cafe (typical). On a beautiful day, the greenery paired with the wildlife and lake is breathtaking.
H. B.
We went here for a kids theatre show. The show was good, the theatre is well laid out. There are sufficient toilets and they were clean. No facilities for children which is a shame, they had to be lifted to reach taps etc. The food in the cafe is delicious although perhaps a little overpriced. There isn't much in the way of savoury snacks for children though and the fruit was very expensive. There's a chalk board for kids to play with though and a great view of the lake.
V. H.
Nice cafe, good food and drink selection and the cheese and mustard scone was lovely!
J. D.
Super helpful staff, lovely coffee shop, interesting displays, contemporary art. Nothing to dislike.
M. S.
Easy to get theatre mixed up with another with the same name in the city. Beware!! Beautiful location. Friendly, helpful staff.
A. H.
Had a walk around the boating lake & visited the coffee shop. A lot of work taking place, painting and a new football golf course being built.
A. C.
Good place and quite beautiful place to visit.
A. H.
Very nicely located, good coffee and lunch. Can get noisy at busy times.
Z. M.
Great arts theatre with many modern pieces of beauty. Brilliant day when I looked in there and nice little cafe next to it
K. D.
Fantastic arts centre, great kids activities too. Do take cash as their cafes seem to regularly have problems taking cards.
S. R.
Food was ok but a bit pricey. The guy behind the till was blunt ( almost to the point of rudeness) which was a pity . Limited hot food available
P. R.
