What a magnificent place to spend a day of your weekend! We have booked a Family 👪 Day in the Centre. You can do this online throught their website and make a family visit during Saturdays. It is a very busy place so you need to keep checking for available places weeks in advance.
Activities: During the Family Day the kids can spend two hours in the exploration area and follow a series of STEM activities. The ticket also includes all day access to the outdoor Wet 💦 Lab and to the wooland.
Place is also ideal for hicking with 3 routes available (400m, 700m and 1km). Kids used their binoculars, their magnifying🔍 glass and a compass 🧭 to disover the hidden treasures of the forest. Equipment (🗺️, 🧭, 🎒, 🔍) is provided for free by the receptionist upon providing an ID card!
👷♀️Staff and beekeepers 🐝 volunteers were great, explained everything nicely to the kids and very patient!
🅿Parking: There is free parking in front of the main buildings for free for the family visits!
😉Extra tip: During weekends the cafe/restaurant ☕️ area is closed, so take lunch with you and enjoy a picnic in the woodland area!

Lots of fun and lovely little woodland walk too. The exploration room has about 15 things to do and explore and kept my two (4+7yrs) entertained for a couple of hours. There are 3 different routes to take for the woodland walk-we did all 3!

Once was enough for us at £22. Would have loved it when the kids were toddlers. Just isn't well set up for 6+ with all the impatient younger kids. With the café closed it wasn't more than an hour visit had to get them to do everything twice to use up the 2hrs.

Excellent place to investigate science Nd the workings behind. Suitable for all ages. Clean, new and professional place to visit. My five year old loved it. We even got to play outside with the water play area, really great. The private grounds were ideal to explore as it was a sunny day and we used the QR codes on sign posts to guide us round the different walks informative there is a pond, outside picnic area, terrace, cafe and inside seating. Staff ate friendly and supportive to show how anything works. Such a great interactive gem in the city.

We had a free family ticket. Had to book a 2-hr time slot for the family weekend. It's one room with different science experiments, that's it. Outside there is a water experimentation area, a couple of walks around a relatively small area (bear in mind Shotover is around the corner - and free), including a pond. It's OK to entertain the kids for 1-2hrs (max), but don't intend to revisit.

Really great for the kids, good range of experiments, which all work (I'm looking at you London science museum). Well managed, not too busy friendly staff. They're even happy for you to eat your own food in the cafe.

Really fun hands on experiments, inside and out with friendly helpfully staff. They also have an excellent cafe with hot food, pastries tea and coffee. Free parking, one happy family day out.

Great interactive exhibits and lovely outdoor woods but the cafe being closed a huge problem and big downside for us. My family need constant refuelling. (Google maps listed it as closed on a Saturday when it was open).

We went to a Family Open Day here, which the centre hosts on Saturdays every couple of weeks. It was brilliant! The activities are superb and really caught the imagination of the whole family, especially our toddler. When it's busy (as it was for us), the staff open up a second room. This was also full of fun and engaging activities. The rooms may seem on the smaller size when you first arrive, but there's plenty to cram in.
We had also wanted to have a walk around the woodlands, but unfortunately they were closed due to strong winds. The woodlands are free to access and from what we could see look beautifully maintained. There are plenty of picnic tables on the decked area and packed lunches are welcome.
The facilities are great - very family friendly, clean and modern. There are plenty of lockers and coat hooks. There's also a spacious baby change, but it's a shame the cafe doesn't have any highchairs. We were concerned after reading reports that car parking has limited spaces (and may require us to park and ride to the centre) but there were plenty of parking spaces on the day we went. There's a bike store and electric vehicle charging stations too.

We had a great time on the family day at the Science Oxford Centre!! We were not sure what to expect, but the kids were really engaged for the 2 hours we were there and the water play area was an added bonus! Would definitely recommend

Superbly run. Great facilities and grounds. Really well designed for kids and the staff seem to love showing and explaining the science in fun ways.

Great place to rent office for your start up next to the beautiful Shotover Country Park. Also for children there is an area to learn about Science and Nature. I love this place.

We had a wonderful visit with home educating friends. Planetarium was fascinating, engaging workshop with an engaging & passionate teacher and then plenty of time in the discovery room for lots of self led learning and experimenting. Facilitators were friendly & genuinely inspiring for the children.

Lovely venue, in a beautiful ecologically conserved setting. The staff were really attentive and super understanding about how kids are not always angels and play up sometimes. They in fact helped me deal with my tweenager's tantrums and redirected his attention which I was most grateful for (that was ace - thank you). Once there my 4 year old really enjoyed playing with all the equipment there and once he was bored, he loved sitting my the ponds eating his lunch and watching all the amazing (and massively curious) dragonflies whizzing about there (your water quality must be good, as dragonflies only colonise is it is good water). My only complaint was that we didn't have longer there before having to catch our coach back sadly. We need to explore those woodland walks next time. Thank you for a fab day. :)

realy good fun for all the family.

Such a fab time at the family event. So much to do - we didn't even get around it all. Helpful and kind staff, lovely food, and lovely woodland to play in too.

Found out about this place as I'm a science teacher during a CPD session - and was really impressed with this place.
They do great Saturday science play/investigation experiences for kids, where kids can play with magnets, vaccumes, curcuits and lots more - £6 per person or £20 for a family ticket, a great way to spend a couple of hours with kids over the summer holidays.
Loads of events and opportunities to learn about science too, from pond dipping to bees.
Usually can just turn up for Saturdays but atm with covid you'll need to book these sessions in advance on the website.
Lovely, bright airy building, small cafe.
Great nature walk through the grounds too included in all tickets.
Looking forward to going here with kids soon!

Great place to take curious kids! The staff are fantastic and my daughter learnt alot

We came for a day out on the weekend with our daughter. Unfortunately there was only one room with a handful of exhibits so not much to do. The outdoor area is nice but there are plenty of free walking tracks elsewhere. Overall I probably would not recommend this as a general museum, maybe worth a visit if there is some event going on.

We had fantastic time. Truly suitable for all ages!

As John Hammond from Jurasic Park would say "no expense spared". Really impressive.

This is a fantastic place. We went in half term on a family day. There was so much to do across all age groups. Loved it, we will be back :)
