I’d like to visit for a tour one day. I just saw the outside of the house. So interesting to see the place where CS Lewis lived considering he’s such an amazing writer. One day I’ll come back to see the inside of the house hopefully.

Excellent tour. Lasted an hour and a half. The warden led us through different rooms while recounting Lewis’s life through stories and letters from biographies and memoirs, and pointing out the uses and restoration of each room. He also told us about the history and restoration of the house. Humorous, informative, professional, lots to learn — an excellent tour and well worth the £15 ticket.

Whatever your familiarity with C.S. Lewis, this is a treat. Book a tour ahead of time and join a small group of people intimately guided through the home by a scholar who currently resides at the Kilns. What a treasure.

A fantastic walk through the past and glimpse into the workings of the mind of a very talented writer.
Inspiring.

I enjoyed being there on a cold winter's day! I wish I had researched more and realised viewing was only by appointment. Oh well, another time! The Lewis Nature Reserve was like visiting part of Narnia! 😀

A guided tour of the Kilns makes Lewis and the Inklings "real." That it is a reconstructed active study center, not a museum, makes the Kilns more of a repository of stories than artifacts. The storytellers who lived in and visited it would approve.

This was an amazing tour that definitely shouldn’t be missed. Paul did an excellent job with out tour. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and you could see how interested he was in C.S. Lewis. This tour must be prearranged and is well worth the price. Don’t miss the nature preserve and a visit to the church down the road.

If you book in advance (it is free), there will be someone to take you round the house and give you a tour of not only the house but other notable facts of about C. S. Lewis. While you are there, you can take a short ride to the cemetery where he is buried.

Restored to resemble C.S. Lewis's house at the time he lived in it, with appropriate additions as tributes to his wife and his work.
