Reviews of The Story Museum
A. B.
We really loved this museum, I appreciate the owner's innovative thinking of building a museum based on stories. You can just immerse yourself in your childhood dreams and pretend that you are back to 9 years old and enjoy the fantasy land. Having said that, my 5 year-old didn't appreciate the whole museum, maybe he was a bit overwhelmed or maybe a bit tired but I can imagine an 8+year old kid will have a lot of fun as well as their parents.

If you are travelling to Oxford with young children, The Story Museum is the place to visit.
Tbh you don’t even need the kids. I’m pretty sure if you have ever appreciated children’s literature - you will love the story museum. We loved our visit and looking forward to the next one. My highlights was going through the wardrobe to Narnia and the Snowman room.
The only thing we didn’t love was ordering a kids lunch box for £6.50 and getting a lunch in a paper bag so will prob take a packed lunch next time and enjoy it at the nearby beautiful Christchurch meadow.

A really excellent experience. We did 'The Galleries' tour and it was excellent for our 5-year-old. There was an audio story-telling experience, then a small dress-up experience, then comic book activity and then a small tour that had some sets from famous books. We spent about 2hrs here and I'd recommend it to parents looking for a fun and engaging activity that isn't too expensive.
S. B.
A wonderful, memorable experience with family. Something for all age groups. Very well organised in the museum with lots of interactive activities. Very highly recommended.
J. B.
Our 5 year old granddaughter loved it, and parents and grandparents had a great time too! Lots of atmospheric sets and book nostalgia for all

My daughter is 4 and is non verbal and autistic and has global developmental delay. She absolutely loved the SMALLER WORLDS SECTION as it was stories and paintings of books that were appropriate for her. THE GALLERIES part is better suited for slightly older children who enjoy reading and undertand the makeup of the rooms and displays. Regardless of all that it is amazingly set out and a lot of effort has gone into it and for children who love reading, it is well worth it!! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would go again!

We visited here in August, my wife, my 5 and 8 year olds and me, as a birthday treat, not for the children, but for me. I am a professional storyteller, author and run a museum and heritage site. This museum has been on my radar for sometime and I was keen to see what they had managed to acheive. I was not dissapointed. From the start, everything seemed to have been thought about, especially as we were still in the middle of a pandemic, from wireless headphones that got cleaned between each group to your own magic wand used to activate things meaning you did not need to touch anything and staggered entry.
The first room, a magical, mystical woodland, poured stories, myths and legends into your ears straight from the storytellers who keep the tradition of oral storytelling alive today. Our ears were filled with fimilar voices of fellow storytellers and new ones, stories my family knew well and ones that were new to us and delighted us greatly.
Following on, we dived into old favourite books with scenes perfectly recreated, representing the books my wife and I enjoyed in our youth and are enjoying just as much reading to our children.
Throughout the experience, the whole family had a sparkle in their eye and a smile on their faces. We didn't pay to go into the extra bits, opting to save those for a another visit as we will definatley be back.
Looking over the reviews from a few years ago, it is clear the museum has found its feet and is now firmly up there with the best of them.
We cannot wait to return!

A great place to visit with young children, with multiple different story experiences to choose from. When you arrive, you are greeted by a friendly Story Guide who will helpmyou plan your journey. There are usually temporary workshops also on which change from tiime to time. Check their website for latest information.

At first I thought I was abit silly visiting a museum for children but I, a 26 year old woman, really enjoyed my visit. In the first half, you get headphones and wands and listen to various short stories, each unique and mildly entertaining. The decor in this part was just mind-blowing. It actually felt like a fairy tale forest.
The second part was different sections on different tales and authors. The gentleman working there was enthusiastic and knew his stuff. This part gave me nostalgia as I was an avid reader as a kid. The different sections reminded me of books I had long forgotten. Classic tales from Winnie the Pooh to Toad in Toad Hall to Jaqueline Wilson. It was almost like the stories themselves came to life.
Please don't feel silly visiting here if you have no little ones. If you love books, I promise you won't regret it.

My boy is 2.5 and had so much fun in the small world. There are so much to explore and experience. It’s so good to see that kids can interact again. Staff is absolutely amazing, telling stories and interacting with kids during free play time. My 7 month old girl also enjoyed a lot. There are lights and many sensory toys to get her attention. It’s a perfect experience for us.
J. B.
Truly magical experience, with wonderfully engaged and friendly/helpful staff. Inspired me to keep writing my own stories/novel 🤩
D. C.
Had a fabulous time here. The gallery is estimated at 2 hours but I could have spent 2 weeks there. Lots of corners where you can settle down with a book. Really cool section where you can create your own comic and popular story rooms that bring stories to life. If booking tickets, book the short fixed events before the main gallery. Once you leave the main gallery you can't get back in! Will definitely be back for the manga event.
K. R.
Story museum was fantastic lots of interactive experiences and staff really helped make the day with their enthusiasm. Only thing that let them down was not alot of sugar free choices in the cafe
S. P.
Magical museum. Took me back to my childhood. Museum team were excellent, I'm character and really know their literature.
G. K.
A great afternoon out with my daughter (less than 2)…
Many activities and the staff did an excellent job of engaging with the children. I have rarely seen my daughter so happy.
James in particular was a wonderful story teller / entertainer. We will return again soon…
R. L.
Excellent, well worth a visit. Our 13 year old loved it especially Horrid Henry's room. Staff were very friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend.
J. J.
Interesting for all ages, engaging and interactive. Well managed, to give children time and space: to get involved; and to enjoy the exhibits and activities. Disappointing to find the shop is cash free though - try explaining to a young child why their £5 pocket money won't buy a £5 item then when you've paid by card, they have to hand you their money ... !!!

A hidden gem in the centre of Oxford. Went with a 4year old and paid £10 each to visit the galleries. A great welcome in the portal to explain the sections and to get child involved. Next the whispering wood. 7 trees each having a different story to tell and an inactive puzzle to play. My 4 year old did finding listening through the handphone too long but she loved the story teller and sat through two stories. She was also given a slate with things she had to find in the word. The staff were great and kept in character when helping the kids. Next was comic world where you could make own comic characters, paint have drawing lessons. Next enchanted library. How great to walk through wardrobe and coats into Narnia. Again had things to find while in the library. There is a cafe to round off an enjoyable morning. We were there for 2 hours so I thought good value. There are other areas to visit and there are separate prices for different areas so paying for what you want can't wait to go back and try some of the other things.
L. T.
We booked the hour slot at Small Worlds and my three-year-old was captivated by interactive songs and stories from around the world. I loved how the story-teller, Sarah, noted down my child’s name at the start and then interacted with him directly throughout the session. The book stations in which children could interact with characters from books were original and cleverly laid out. Afterwards, we had coffee in the delightful cafe, completely child friendly with books and activities and a little packed lunch, especially for kids. A thoroughly fun morning which was child centred from start to finish, taking the pressure off the adults who could thoroughly enjoy themselves too.
g. H.
Very imaginative exploratory spaces for kids of all ages and dispositions
E. C.
Really fun, interesting and exciting place to take the children and immerse them in the world of stories. Also love that comics are included in this. My 5 year old had a brilliant time and we'll definitely be back.
J. M.
A great place to visit for all the family. We have 4 children aged from 5 - 13 and inc the adults we all loved it. Really interactive, loved the theme rooms, brought back memories and great, enthusiastic staff. A really good afternoon 👍
R. R.
Wonderful place for children who love stories! My 7 & 10 year old loved it, very immersive experience, good variety of fictional worlds to explore and engage with. It’s changed a lot since the refurb but really suits us. Highly recommended.
H. L.
Came here with my two kids who have an 8 year age gap and honestly it was amazing? They had something for all ages and we all had a wonderful time. I will definitely be returning again.
J. W.
Gorgeous museum, great little gig venue, tasty cafe. Really enjoyed performing here.
M. E.
Very nice museum, excellent for toddlers and young kids. There's 3 areas you can explore, each are priced separately. There's the gallery area which is 8 pounds, the city of stories, that is 5 pounds, and small world that is 5 pounds. I strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance as everything is timed entry. The gallery area comprises of about 4 areas, a magic woods with interactive trees, headsets where you hear stories at each tree. A craft and play area, a gallery area where they have recreated Alice in wonderland scenes, Narnia, Philip Pulman etc. There's a cafe which is not great, it's expensive and the coffee was terrible, cakes were dry. The city of stories is a cinema movie lasting around 20 mins which is OK, it's a multi screen show that tells the history of Oxford. The small world is a large play area, where there are 2 stories told. One at the beginning, and another at the end. The area is very child friendly, lots of play areas including a huge bed about the size of 6 double beds that kids will love jumping on. You can also purchase an annual pass costing 36 pounds that gives you unlimited entry to the gallery and small world areas. If you live in Oxford then it's worth getting this pass as the kids will love the various play areas. Note that everything is timed slots. Recommended.
J. K.
Gorgeous experience - such a fun place even for grown ups- immersive experience and had rooms for Narnia, Noughts and crosses and horrid Henry!! Definitely a must do if you go to Oxford :)
A. F.
Brilliant for young children. We'll laid out, good use of technology and some lovely story telling. Highly recommended.
P. &. D. B.
Good interaction with children crafts books our Granddaughter was read a story she is 21 months. Children were dressing up and sitting on a throne that spoke the words they had created on a board. Colourful Banners on the walls. Cafe next door with books cards for sale. Will return when their refurbishment is complete in Spring 2020 but still worth a visit.
B. C.
Lovely place. Great to see it back open. They've done a fab job on refurbishing it and the staff are so friendly & king. Well worth booking a slot.
D. S.
Amazing museum .Me and my 11yrs old son had brilliant time .We will definitely visit again :)
P. M.
The small world was just right for my 18 month old grandaughter. He favourite bits; the storyteller, the giant bed and the bus. It was just the right amount if time for the adults too. We went during school half term so it was busy but not at all over crowded. We will visit again.
Y. T.
Super entertained! Strongly recommended! Must see museum in Oxford if with child...
A. R.
Our 4 and 7 year old enjoyed it a lot. The galleries tour was well organised and lots of fun and imagination.
R. G.
The story bit of the museum for kids is pretty good for under 5s and Sarah (I think that was her name) was a great storyteller and really good with the kids. Lunch in the cafe connected was expensive for what it was and of average quality. We paid nearly £30 for sandwiches crisps and a can of drink for 2 adults and 2 under 5s and this left us feeling a pretty ripped off. It made this a £50 visit including the story but and not including the main museum. If we come again we certainly would eat elsewhere
C. A.
This museum is really magical. We all loved it as there's something for everyone. The whispering trees are captivating and walking through the wardrobe into Narnia re-conjured memories of those fabulous stories for me and my husband. My daughter spent ages on WTPs bridge watching the Pooh sticks float under her feet! A great days out and lovely café & courtyard to sit and have coffee and cake. A definite one for the family calendar.
L. H.
Ridiculously delightful. So engaging for ages 5, 7 and 36. Cafe catered for a gluten free, dairy free, family group!! Wow.
J. K.
Beautiful museum with some of the most wonderful staff team members. So much to do here for the younger audience. Wish I was young enough to enjoy this
A. S.
I have to start by saying I'm not a massive museum fan!
We went as a large group with 4 adults, two kids and 4 toddlers.
The toddlers and the adults with them absolutely loved the Small Worlds (0-5 years) play and story experience. They said it could have been longer as the kids enjoyed it so much. They particularly loved the interaction and jumping on the bed!
The other 4 of us went through the experience The Galleries for over 5's. It started off really well with the intro. The guy was fab with our two 11 year olds. However, the first part with the story trees was a little lacklustre and they found it a little bit dull. The interactive trees are really for the younger age group (maybe 5 to 8) so fab for keeping them busy. It was done really well and the atmosphere was good but for the older children not ao impressive.
The next part which I believe is the actual museum was interesting and especially the little experiences. Horrid Henry's bedroom, wardrobe into Narnia and the Alice in Wonderland room were lovely but again just a short experience.
I believe you can sit and read whenever you want to so you could sit there for your whole session reading but you can do that at home!
Maybe I misunderstood the website but my thoughts when booking were that the 'experiences' would be separate and you'd all come together in the museum. That is not the case so something to bear in mind if you are attending with different age groups of children.
Parking is close by in the Westgate shopping centre where there are a few places to eat should you need before or after your visit.
THERE IS NO ON SITE PARKING OR PARKING OUTSIDE so plan ahead so you don't miss the start of your experience.
The cafe was lovely although we only had drinks so can't rate the food. The cakes did look lovely though.
Staff were friendly and really helpful.
Still covid friendly although you don't have to wear a mask anymore if you don't want to.

What a delightful visit. Several someones have put a lot of very good thought into designing and making this wonderful place. Our party ranged from two to sixty-nine and we all loved it. The staff/volunteers were superb. I visit Oxford several times a year and will be back soon.
R. O.
What a fantastic place!
They have put so much effort in to really capturing the imaginations of the children, of all ages. Our little girl turns 1 in a few days and lived exploring the different story worlds. I can see she will get a lot out of this place for years to come.
First class afternoon at incredibly good prices!
Staff were amazing, facilities are spot on.
J. H.
Very magical and engaging! Reasonable price too I think. One particularly fantastic staff member whose name I didn't catch, but he really engaged the children AND has the adults giggling too. We already want to go back!
O. W.
Amazing place to go, we visited both the younger and the older sections and were never disappointed. The staff were always friendly and undoubtedly made the whole experience wonderful for the kids. The younger section focused on a story and playtime, the older section was a guided story tour. I was impressed at the variety of stories throughout, and the volume of things to do there. The older section is self led which is nice as you can take your time in each section, however it can get a little crowded at times. Overall I would totally recommend bringing the kids, or even just going by yourself, there’s certainly plenty to do.
J. S.
Great day at the story museum for the Harry Potter day. Loved the Story that must not be named and may well be back in Oxford in April to see them again. Son made an interesting set of voice and video clips in the Ever After section which was new from our last visit.
A. W.
Very well done.
R. B.
Lovely place. Both my boys ( 3 and 5 yrs) loved it here and didn't want to leave
J. S.
Good value and great place for the kids to visit. Plenty to do and the kids loved the interactive elements
S. B.
Our 2 year old loved our visit. We visited the Small Worlds and had a great hour exploring. Really nice cafe too. And the shop is full of ideas for children's gifts. You don't need to pay to go into the shop or cafe. The staff have done a wonderful job keeping it all covid safe. We'll be back!
T. W.
We went here on a whim whilst visiting Oxford with our 2 year old and he loved it, the staff were interactive and helpful and the rooms in the gallery were amazing. Unfortunately we missed the small worlds but the galleries were fantastic and just the right amount interaction for our little one. 10/10 would recommend.
L. B.
Such a perfect place for children and the staff are just fantastic. Our 3 year old (nearly 4) thoroughly enjoyed Small Worlds. It's engaging, interactive and an hour of pure fun! I would highly recommend this place to parents of toddlers.
P. I.
Good day out for children of all ages. My toddler enjoyed the little story section while my older child lover the bigger display. Great toilets and changing facilities. Food was good and reasonably priced.
J. D.
Stopped here with my cycling friends to use the café after our intended destination was unexpectedly closed.
Cake is good, coffee is good and they have a bike rack that's visible from the courtyard seating. Adding this onto my cycle friendly café list.
The children who were visiting looked like they were having fun too!
S. M.
We only visites the video show city of stories. I peraobally found it a bit overrated, may be wrong expectations.
H. F.
Fantastic! We took the children for an hour and they didn't want to leave. Excellent storytelling at the beginning and then fun exploring for the rest of the hour. The giant bed was a nice touch, too.
R. R.
Amazing place to spend time with your kids.
I'm sure I enjoyed more than my son. :)
R. H.
This is an excellent museum for younger children. Split into different sections we visited the older section which started with a range of stories. The second section was more hands on which really engaged my 7yr old with activities including dressing up and drawing. They then had rooms showing different author's worlds. The pictures by children's illustrators were very interesting and a personal favourite was Jasper Fforde's desk.
K. V.
Funded by the lottery, a great well made experience for kids and adults alike but my 13 year old wasn't so interested in the storybook tour. Probably better suited to younger children, we loved them themed rooms such as Narnia and the Snowman
C. Y.
Very nice place, I went there for conference. Good location. The decorations of the story museum are very interesting too
R. C.
A great experience for children of all ages (I am a state pensioner!). It helps if you are a fan of children's literature. Local connections with Lewis Carroll, CS Lewis, Tolkien and Philip Pulman mentioned but not really developed. Engaging and enthusiastic staff. A very enjoyable couple of hours.
P. G.
This is a well thought out museum and suitable for all ages. Our 4 grandchildren,2,4,5and 7 thoughly enjoyed the visit here. Lots to see . Would highly recommend and costs £8 per person and takes about 1.5 hours to go through. Staff very friendly .
H. M.
Took both children here and they both had a lovely time, listening to the stories and then being able to walk through set pieces from different stories
a. l. b.
Absolutely stunning exhibits. Really wonderful day out for children and adults.
M. J.
My 5 year old loves this place. The COVID changes are simple and smart. Definitely worth a few hours visit.
L. S.
Easy to get to, clean and a lot of fun for a preschooler. Great value for a city centre activity.
J. S.
We went to the Story museum as a school group. It was a full day with a tour of Oxford, story workshop and a visit to the interactive story rooms in the museum. The kids were enthralled all day, our guides knowledge of Pullman, C.S Lewis, Carroll Lewis and Tolkein was superb. I highly recommend it to any child with an active imagination. I grew up in Oxford and yet learnt so much in one day from our guide. Wonderful!
F. L.
A great place to bring children for a few hours: recent refurbishment has created some really creative spaces including the Whispering Wood which explores oral storytelling, and the Enchanted Library with exhibits exploring the development of children's books and stories through time. This includes interactive spaces like the poohsticks bridge, a Narnia room (which you enter through a wardrobe of fur coats - how else?), a Noughts and Crosses room and Horrid Henry's bedroom. Nice little café and bookshop too. New exhibition about comics - called KA-BOOM! - opens 30 May 2022.
S. M.
We passed a very merry couple of hours today. Wondered if our very nearly 12 year old might be a bit old now but she enjoyed it as much as her 7 year old sister. They both listened intently to the stories in the woods and then explored the galleries merrily. They both missed the giant bed and of course the talking throne but Narnia and Horrid Henry made up for it. Followed up by a drink and a piece of cake in the café. Lovely.
T. I.
We took our 2 year old there, and we all had a great time, "B" was fantastic with the story telling and songs and really engaged with our little boy and made sure he had a great time!
P. M.
Anything that gets children interested in books and stories is a good thing. The Story Museum, in the heart of Oxford celebrates local authors and will appeal to children (and adults) of all ages.
A. M.
This highly unique place is full of intriguing interactive exhibits for toddlers right up to adults. The staff are friendly and engaging and children will get lost in the magic of it all.
G. D.
This place is very special and magical, my daughter absolutely loved it
L. M.
A real hidden gem, The Story Museum is a really inventive idea and great use of space. Different areas keep it interesting, staff are helpful and invested, there are interactive elements throughout - with a visit for young and old.
A. G.
Amazing place to spend a quality time with you children I would say from any age but from age 2 they will enjoy more ;) the staff is amazing ! Every single one of them are delightful. We went to a Chinese new year celebration activities. And we spend really good time making lanterns dancing with dragon and just listening to a story. Thank you for being in Oxford hart.
I love all the activities they offer but the place it self needs a bit renovating . Buggy place outside doesn't look very safe but thankfully I never had any problems. Otherwise 5stars !
R. C.
Good fun, interactive and lovely and colourful
L. G.
Despite the fact that most of the museum is closed for major renovations, this was still a hit. My daughter loved the speaking throne, a truly fantastic idea, and she loved dressing up. The little shop has some nice books and little gifts. The cafe looked like it had a small but nice selection of cakes and tea/coffee, but there was a bit of a wait and the handful of tables were taken so didn't try it. Strongly recommend for children under 10 (ish).
T. P.
We went for a coffee having been pre-covid. It's really clean, well laid out. The staff are really energetic and friendly. They serve Ue coffee too which is the cherry on top of an already very pleasing experience!
B. H.
Great time for both children, fun for all primary school children I would imagine!
S. n.
Fantastic place to spend with children. Amazing decoration, lighting and sound effects. You'll not regret it!
D. S.
Mixed feelings - it's a reasonable size and a lot of good ideas have gone in to it, but a lot of it feels a bit tatty and somehow unfinished. We went with young children who enjoyed looking around but weren't really enthralled by anything in particular, but I can see that older children would probably appreciate it more. Not overly expensive, and the additional activities can be good. Cafe is very is pleasant.
e. b.
5 stars for first experience there, for my little one. The stories were fun. Knowing there will be diverse events, I ll definitely come back.
M. W.
Very cute place especially if you're bringing a child! I loved the lanterns outside of it
D. A.
It was not clear exactly who this was targeted at on entry. The story museum looks like it would be amazing for children, features lots of interactive content including story rooms and a dress up area, and I would highly recommend it for anyone with under 12s. However, there is not really any content at all for adults. Either some additional information content dotted around the exhibitions for adults to read, or more detail as to what to expect before entering would have been appreciated.
L. J.
Haven’t got the chance to visit it, just took a quick look from outside, it looks good
K. H.
We went after seeing Chinese New Year celebrations being advertised. I wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.
There was lots to see and do and the exhibits were hands on and informative. I liked it here but it did feel a little incomplete in places.
My 4 year old wasn't that interested in a lot of it, though he liked the books and he loved the giant bed, it was better suited to my 6 year old who asked lots of questions and enjoyed finding the clues to build the word as we went round.
We will probably visit again and would recommend others to visit.
F. B.
Herd there was a pretty cool statue of me (6’2 wax sculpture) Can’t wait to see it ! Lots of love faith barrow. (Best thing since I’ve broke up with Jamal smith :( 💔💔)
M. M.
Visited with a friend and three children all under 4 at the time. The children really enjoyed it as there is plenty to explore. The building is fascinating inside and set out really well. Huge bed in one room where storytime is held. Fascinating for children and adults alike!
M. G.
Brilliant visit with 9year old granddaughter. Visited The Galleries which took just over an hour. Hands on and interactive. Highly recommended.
M. G.
Lovely place to spend a couple of hours with your kids. There's a small cafe with food, h hot drinks and cake at the entrance and then you move into another building where the actual museum is. There are numerous rooms spreading over two floors, each with a different theme. There's also a lovely dress-up room for both children and adults. The only thing letting it down a bit is the fact that it looks a bit dated in places.
L. A.
Really enjoyed small worlds with my 3 year old. Interactive storytelling was perfectly pitched and the exhibition interesting and engaging.
A. F.
My 9 year is a real bookworm so really wanted to go. She enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland part. But the room with talking throne is very tired and needs some work. I feel this museum is much better for younger children. It a shame they don't have more for an older child.
H. B.
fantastic place to take kids from 1 to 99. You can linger in story-book places, go through the wardrobe full of fur coats to find Narnia. dress up in the dress up room, relax on the giant bed and even meet authors of children's books. I have been there maybe 15 times with 12 year old and we spent hours of delight there each time. But also good for little ones. Well worth the entrance price.
K. M.
Sweet little gem in the heart of Oxford. The exhibition are quite nice. It's a little on the expensive side and is smaller than I expected. The museum is split into three floors and the stairs are a little steep. I think there was a lift but I was with a large group and the smaller children found the stairs quite tricky. Despite the price it is a trip out.
B. G.
What an amazing find! A beautiful book shop and cafe, we didn't have time for the events but loved the atmosphere and lovely books. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the best bit for me - are two lamps outside, being a Tolkien fan this was brilliant. ❤️
J. D.
Excellent, we brought three children between two and five and they all loved it. Very interactive and lots to see and do
R. a.
A fun museum you have to visit. Here we could enter the world of stories which we have been read and heard before bed time
R. R.
Brilliant place to visit with children. We went with two under 5s and they loved it - especially the giant bed for bedtime stories. Once you've paid you can leave and go back in again later in the day which could be handy if you want to go elsewhere for lunch. We had lunch there and it was lovely and homemade.
J. W.
Whilst I appreciate a new building is under construction ....it's a very small tight squeeze cafe an surely instead of focusing on everything vegan /veggie you could have a couple of healthy things on menu for people who are not veggie/vegan. Upstairs was a bit squashed 're doing the stones but Rhona was amazing with the children. Also I had request twice that their was NO paper towels in disabled toilet to dry hands with.
L. W.
Pretty good however staff and volunteers could well learn to stand back and let you explore. Rather than bombarding you with information as soon as you come in the room.

Lovely museum, ideal for children (but not pushchair friendly). Feels a bit low budget in places, but this is reflected in the ticket price. The dressing up room is a lot of fun. Ideal to visit for a couple of hours.
M. J.
Good place for the kiddos. Nice for adults reminiscing
A. H.
Awesome place for kids, very well organized and Covid safe. Staf is very nice and friendly, they really do make an effort to make you feel welcome.

A beautiful experience, a definite must for those with children and even those without. Very well laid out and inspiring to return to some childhood favourite stories.

PROS:
- two floors of different stories,
- nice shop with possible refreshments,
- friendly staff,
- my favourite part was the big bed,
- very fair entrance price,
- great if you have kids.
CONS:
- not exactly a museum, I'd rather call it a story house,
- in my opinion kids have to be a certain age, otherwise it's a bit pointless (especially if they don't know any of the stories mentioned - they will probably enjoy the big bed and storytelling though),
- could use a bit of fixing in certain places.

This place has greatly improved since it opened. Our kids loved it. While they still have quite a bit to do it is still worth a visit now. This is a place that is well worth supporting. I liked the story teller the most or maybe the talking throne which I admit I had to have a go on myself.
F. Q.
Great experience for kids, a good setup with really friendly staff. Just severely let down by poor parking options.
C. T.
Kids paradise for story thing
G. C.
Great place to take the little kids not sure about kids over 10 might get bored mine did
K. B.
Excellent experience for kids. Enthusiastic staff. On site toilets and cafe. Visitors need to manage parking.

An amazing place which is lots and lots of fun. Just been to their latest exhibition 'Animal' which looks amazing and really immerses you in the stories. The Varjak Paw room is the best, using paint that captures your shadow on the wall after a light flashes, it's lots of fun to pull silly poses and see the effec. All the rooms look stunning though and have really transformed the space. Time for Bed is still a favourite and is a nice place to chill out and read some books (even if you're a grown up). I've visited lots and it's alway my go to place to take friends and family when they're visiting as there's lots to look at and amuse. My niece loves it, especially the throne room where kids and adults can all dress up. There's lots going on too and I've been to some really good events aimed at adults, and the kids activities in the holidays always look fun. It's definitely not a museum in the traditional sense, but it's really interesting with lots to do and I love how it really draws you into stories and make them seem alive.
S. C.
If you throw yourself into the activities your child will have a great time. It's woven into the nearby Oxford buildings on the 1st and second floors but disabled lifts are available. Best to check when the events are on but failing that the staff will happily read stories and play with the children throughout the exhibits. Premises are 3 star but the staff knock it into 4.
J. A.
Amazing for children and adults alike. Impressed with the layout and upkeep of the displays.
B. E.
Fantastic place to visit, kids had a great time and so did the adults 😂
M. Z.
Nice and clean environment, with Covid-19 related measures. Friendly staff and interesting activities for kids.
M. S.
Very friendly staff- COVID secure and a good day out with a reasonable price tag. Highly recommended for anyone with young kids
S.
Quite fun for children and for parents. Dressing up room is fantastic, but my son got bored... No computer, no tablet, no Xbox. Good with a group would be my suggestion!
R. R.
Loved this place for years, always a highlight for the kids, even as they get older.
L.
My 8 year old daughter loved it, lots of interactive activities and stories to get involved in.
I. H. K.
If u are into stories this is an amazing place to be. Excellent experience for kids. Its magical.

I'm so glad to find such a good place to go out in the weekend with my baby. The best thing is that we can sit outside in the sun and there is none smoker around, i don't think i can find another better spot to have lunch in town.
Z. X.
Great service from staff and fun activities for families. My niece loved visiting the museum
L. X.
A great place for children's parties and they hold all sorts of events too. The cafe also serves great cakes. Only issue is parking can't really be found nearby.
A. P.
Visited the Small World exhibition, great way to spend an hour with a toddler. Look forward to going back again.
C. A.
This sis possibly the most adorable cafe in oxford. They also have some amazing books, patches and knick knacks to sell. Staff are super friendly and the food is great as well.
J. B.
A real find. Great for sparkling the imagination in youngsters. The talking throne room is fabulous. Children loved the UV wall. Nice cafe for children as well.
D. C.
Story reading for small children. Nice little cafe. Excellent story reader whip engaged the children very well. A very enjoyable hour!
J. S.
Not good, the officer accused me of stealing the wax life size (6’2) sculpture of famous dancer (6A LEVELS) Faith Barrow!
J. L.
Absolutely amazing! A great experience for children and families
R. I.
Interesting space (in a good way)!
Signage for hosted/private event was somewhat lacking, but organiser corrected that as soon as they were informed. Definitely worth a visit.
J. L.
The place, targeted at kids, is composed of different areas related to different classic children's storybooks. Each of the area proposes some activities, ex. reading, or dressing up. It's not fitting the usual acceptation of the word "museum" :)
M. G.
Normally a very good museum. The more artistic exhibition that was on for this visit didnt appeal to the kids as much as previous exhibits, but they still enjoy the place.
J. S.
Our daughter loved the place and the Frozen day out was great. All staff were friendly, and it was reasonably priced. Thank you.
A. G.
We had so much fun here, and the staff was very helpful and kind.

Magical! The books really come to life and it is such a wonderful place to engage children, even those that don't particuarly enjoy reading loved the story museum because it's so interactive!
K. H.
Nice place, good cafe,. Suits kids 3 yoa and up. There's a lift to the 1st floor but not to the 2nd.
R. D.
Wasn't sure what to expect. More for kids than adults but all in all a great couple of hours entertainment
