Built in 1320 and bombed in 1940 by the German airforce the church was known as the sailor's church.The name's of the sailor's killed in the air raid can be found on a wall outside.The Titanic memorial is in a recess by the entrance.A friend of mine served in the liner SS CANBERRA and she served in that ship during the Falklands War and earned her pay.The ship was in the area we know as bomb alley for much of it.I live in Southampton and this was my first visit.There's lots of history here,some happy,some sad.I hope you enjoy your visit.Its quiet here and i spent a few minutes thinking of friends lost,in peace as well as war.To absent friends.Thank you.

This church is a stark reminder of the damage caused to England during the bombings of WWII.

One of those places in town where you can feel connected to more then just chain corporations. Gives life to a sense of depth and character that's gratefully appreciated
