Reviews of Port of Southampton
S. P.
Poor signposting for coaches to relevant berths. Passengers had to wait a long time on the coach to be covid screened.
C. L.
you can watch cruise ships very close by and there is west Quay shopping centre near by and there are very huge ships like MSC/QUEEN MARRY2 best time to watch cruise lightning when starts getting dark
A. H. S.
Went to see port of TITANIC. It was very busy port with number of cruise ships including Independence of Seas. Although they have moved Titanic museum to some other part of city but still it was worth watching and visiting port.
E. S.
Great place to view some of the largest cruise ships. We went there to see the rare occasion of all three Queens of Cunard, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria visit Southampton at the same time.
I. C.
I occasionally work at the docks, within the construction and ship refit industries. There is a lot of history in this city if you seek it and especially the docks and what remains of the old city. Not many people realize something about the docks, it's all on reclaimed land. The area around the train station was marshland and beach. The sea once reached as far as the city walls and ive seen the ground under the walls.Gravel and seashells. The area around dock gate 4 sits on mud.So now you know.If you are visiting by cruise ship you will come into dock gates 4,8or 10.I've worked at the docks, repairing them usually.I also went on the shortest cruise in history, from berth 103 to 46 berth for the refit of the SS Canberra, waving at the crowd. The cruise industry has expanded recently,as has the container terminal.
D. I.
Very large and well organized only lacking on decent signage at some of the different pick up and drop container Areas with some of the smaller operators.
G. P.
Great place to watch giant cruise ships!
M. S.
Very busy
E. V.
Could be better. No toilets in loading area. Stuff is kind enought
D. P.
Well sign posted. Well organised parking with friendly staff on site.
R. M. U.
Working close to the docks this week on Take That tour.
A vibrant place full of characters and stories
Loved the docks, love seeing the cruise ships and hustle and bushel of a busy port.
T. B.
Huge port
R. D.
One of the best port,s in the world a great place to have a look at.
J. R.
I first visited this place like 5 years back. But now it is developed a lot. Nice place to see and visit your relatives who works on the ship.
M. R.
What can I say, depends what time vbs you've got, sometimes it's buggered at 0400 sometimes it's not.
p. b.
The Port of Southampton is a passenger and cargo port in the central part of the south coast of England. It is the busiest cruise terminal and second largest container port in the UK. It is a home port for many cruise ships. Many renowned cruise ship anchor here.
D. M.
Not a bad place to pick containers up
S. M.
Beautiful place to experience sunset. The chilly winds, sound of the waves and the majestic ships are eye catching and is a best place to get some magical photographs. A must visit if you are visiting Southampton. Walking distance from the tudor garden and the old roman walls. A beautiful walk along the old city ruins and a great finish to the day at the port with an amazing sunset.
S. H.
Went to join MSC Virtuosa, for my 1st ever cruise.
Was not terribly easy to find the gate en route though, signage a bit sparse and small, but we found it. Terminal is lovely, looked quite new, with lots of covid measures in place throughout. Very nice staff throughout. Had pre-booked disabled assistance; was dropped off and given a wheelchair and helper who took me through the lengthy process and journey from the front of the terminal right into our cabin on board - definitely use this service if any mobility issues, it would have been a long and exhausting journey unaided. Also for return, got taken right to the pick up/drop off point from muster point on board.
j. j.
Very busy port and rather nice to cruise in and out of.
j. M.
Great to be back. Did a staycation cruise on Regal Princess. Wonderful. Good to see other ships in.
A. J.
What can you say, typical port traffic, suspect not as busy as other times. Can't really rate, as my visit was brief. Collecting my new company car and the weather was atrocious.
M. K.
Excellent port runs smoothly 90% of the time, we'll organised and easy to get around; My only criticism would be the total lack of parking for HGVs as it's not always possible to turn time management into an art form regarding required legal breaks...
F. M.
Quick and clean. My PCR test was delightful. I would recommend it to a friend.
R. d. C.
The best port we can go for shopping.
Especially if you work on a ship.
R. R.
What a charming place with lots to see and do. Like all things, when visiting somewhere new, it is so much better when the sun is out. However, the people are very hospitable, and a great area to explore on a day out, with a whole host of things to do and see to take up your day.
E. M.
A lot better than it ever was. Years ago I remember spending 6 hours swapping boxes. In the last few years my longest was about 2 hours.
D. P.
I love the port of Southampton, worked there for over 11years. Great to see ocean liners in and out. Also the progress and expansion they have made at the container end, the best port in the country.
C. H.
Best holiday inn I have stayed at, all the staff are friendly and welcoming that's why I keep going back.
R. D.
A first class Dock shipping from all over the world come to Southampton'.both cruise ships and freit.its always busy.
L. B.
Busy port, lots of cruises ships to see. I went on cruise from there very efficient. Not easy to walk to cruise terminal as lots traffic, taxi best option.
S. G.
This is my best port to deliver or collect from can be straight in and out most visits.
Things can go wrong and sometimes delayed but the way the port works your never left to die of boredom unlike felixstowe.
C. C.
Love going there with my camera in the evening and photographing the container ships and cruise liners which dock in various locations on Southampton Water
S. M.
A busy cruise and cargo port. The cruise terminals are let down big time by the sour faced miserable old hags who work there. They ruin your holiday before it even starts
A. W.
Easy to get to. Facilities allow easy flow of passengers both to move and sit. Embarcation process fluid and stress free.
S. H.
Can get really busy in the morning and watch the end of the day people are helpful if you're not too sure where you're going
A. E.
Going into the container park is good very quick turn a round for our trucks means we can get back up north to the mother land
C. F.
Clean. Easy to find. Caution if paying for parking, when dropping off passengers for trips - be sure you pay for all your parking time
L. B.
Easy access, follow the signs they will take you to the exact gate dock. Usually for cruises gates 4 and 8.
D. W.
Great for cruise access and parking.
P. S.
Very unorganised. Only one ship in and staff letting cars wait for passengers not off ship. Normally 5 star but 10th February was disgusting
P. W.
Very efficient disembarkation from our cruise ship and it was easy to meet up with our scheduled transfer/tour van to get to London.
M. C.
