Reviews of Westport Lake Visitor Centre
T. L.
Lovely lake and walks around the lake. Great tea room with the most delicious carrot cake. There's a great children's park and different varieties of birds to feed. There's also a visitor centre and a place to hire bikes. Great place for a picnic.
D. E.
A beautiful nature spor to walk away an hour or two
The path takes you around the circumference of the lake, which is smooth and wheelchair friendly, although quite used by runners.
You can also walk a little further out through the woodland, which is teaming with wildlife.
There is a lovely little garden maze for kiddies to run through.
It's a nice wall that isn't too difficult.
S.
Nice cafe with balcony overlooking the lake, good food and drinks at reasonable prices. There's a nice walk around the lake where you can see the various ducks, geese and swans. There's also bike hire and a canal pathway is adjacent to the lake. Well worth a visit if you are in the area, or must be a great place for the locals.
L. B.
Lovely tarmaced path walk around a large lake. Also has a visitor centre you can purchase gifts, souvenirs, food and drink.
A little charity sponsored bike hire with cheap to hire interesting bikes and ride ons (they seem to facilitate for people with physical disabilities as well as their main USP).
Toilet facilities, pretty adequately sized car park (£1 for an hour £1.50 for 3 hours or £3 for 24 hours) you can pay cash, card or via the app.
Everywhere seems pretty accessible for prams and wheelchairs etc. The paths can get quite muddy so you need to be prepared with towels and good footwear during autumn and winter.
They've recently renewed the play area and there really is something out there for all ages except maybe the youngest of children which I would think the ride on and swings would only be suitable. Although we had a 1 year old, 6 year old and 9 year old and it kept them all entertained for a good while and we only came away as it became a little too cool and windy.
All in all a lovely almost free (except car parking) afternoon out.
T. W.
Summer this lake hustles and bustles, right off the canal so great for walks with family and well behaved furry friends. Reason i say well behaved is because there quiet alot of wild life and there young through spring and summer and ive seen alot of individual's bring dogs down and take them off the leashes and they attacked ducks, geese and swans. Theres a kids park with a ice cream van that pulls up for a few hours, for the adults theres a little cafe which sells a variety of things.
Beautiful and scenic, part of a small nature reserve, Peaceful and quiet and well looked after.
j. d.
Had a lovely walk around the lake and fed the geese and ducks, lovely play area although needs a couple of repairs to the floor, stopped for a ice cream before heading home, overall a pleasant few hours out.
g. h.
Nice walk around Westport Lake, good access for wheelchair or mobility scooter.
Loads of water fowl, Malards, Canada Geese, Swans, Coots and Water Hens, plenty of fishermen on the bank but there is no day ticket fishing as you need to be a member to fish here.
M. B.
Nice walk around the lake with my son and my dog.
One thing we found amusing was the swans as they followed us all around the lake and then to the car like to make sure we were going 😆. I don't think they liked Wolfie barking at them.
We also had an amazing ice cream 🍦 from the ice cream van it was delicious 😋 .
L. H.
Visited here on a dull day..surprised by the number of people walking around the lake, using the bike hire service and the play park. The visitor centre has toilets, some information about the Visitor centre construction as well as local tourist information leaflets.
The cake purchased was delicious and the staff were able to tell me about any ingredients as I have a nut intolerance. I thought this was excellent, that they had the knowledge such as which was gluten free immediately.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Service was quick and everywhere was clean and tidy.
Good value. You have a lovely view of the lake from the cafe and there is an outdoor balcony area too.
Definitely a good place to visit.
D. W.
This is quite an unusual building, looking like Noah's ark from one viewpoint. Has a lovely little cafe inside and a balcony overlooking the westport lake. Great views of the birds and a playground for children by the side of the carpark. Good afternoon out! Toilets present and bike hire hut also there. Well worth a look. Go there and feed the birds!
S. S.
We had a lovely few hours in this beautiful place. We enjoyed some oatcakes and a drink in the visitors centre and had a leisurely walk around the lake. It was clean and I didn't spot any litter whatsoever.
H. K.
Good access for buggy/wheelchair users. Great walk around the lake in part sun /part shade. Lots of wildlife to experience. Loved the maize walk. ** Such a shame the children's park was still not available due to refurbishment. Cone on you guys get it sorted ASAP please. Cafe system appeared muddled. One person didn't seem to know what the other ones were doing; hence things got mistaken & forgotten. Standard of food was great & loved the idea of the children's put-together -bag. Staff were polite & friendly. Toilet facilities nice & clean.
j.
Love this place plenty of seats around the lake. The new play area is excellent apart from nowhere near enough seats. We take our great granddaughters and we are in our 70s. Also its not good to see adults actually on the play area.
K. F.
Lovely new play area, however issues with some of the equipment already.
Walking around the lake is very pleasant and the canal side walks are easily accessible. Lots of wildlife and maze at the end of the lake for the kids. Cafe open most days with toilet facilities, usually an ice cream truck by the park. Occasionally the oatcake canal boat cafe parks up here too.
Only downside is the noisy works happening in the fields nearby.
D. K.
Absolutely beautiful place to relax and great cafe and place for the children to play.
A. W.
A lovely place to visit. Went with my mum for a few hours on a lovely day and we both enjoyed it. Our first time but we will definitely go back again in the near future. A lovely clean place with a lovely cafeteria at reasonable prices and lovely friendly staff.
M. A. B.
Beautiful view, great place to witness the sunset and a nice little playing area
L. O.
Great new play area and seating. Tasty lunch in the cafe. Only downside is car parking - there's only the 2 meters and they are a walk away from the car, tiny sign at the bottom says you can pay by phone but that could be more obvious by extra signage, preventing grumpy kids traipsing to the meter and back.
m. g.
Over the years this area has been transformed from a pottery dump to a place of beauty, where you and the family can enjoy some nice times together. Walking, cycling, running, fishing, or just checking out the wildlife it's all good and an ideal place that's flat ground so the old and disabled can enjoy also without difficulties.
With the addition of the visitor centre which was completed in 2009 at a cost of £1.3 million, you can now enjoy food and drink which is served up while watching over the lake and also get plenty of information which is available for you at hand.
S. G.
A beautiful small walk, with 2 small lakes and plenty of wildlife, there's usually an ice-cream van at the weekends and a couple of barges, one sells oaks oatcakes and one sells alcohol if that's what you fancy. Lovely spot in all the four seasons.
C.
A really nice free attraction, really good children's park and picnic area ( just needs people to use the bins provided) plenty of parking (very cheap) lovely walk around the lake and excellent cafe facilities.
S. O.
I love this place, so does my son. Nice big park, normally an ice cream van on the car park, there a little cafe usually when everywhere isnt on lockdown. Been coming here for a while, found out the other day that they also have a nature reserve if you walk through the woods abit. Nice little boat that sells coffee and ice creams that my son likes to go to too😁
A. J.
Lovely coffee, haven't tried the food.
Play area is huge and very modern (recent refurb), my son enjoyed this!
J. a.
Really like it here. Not been to the area before , very impressed. Cafe with outside deck overlooking the lake. Free parking and play park. You can buy duck food to feed the many ducks from the cafe . Nice flat path around the lake with some conservation areas which are nicely kept.... the volunteers do a grand job. The canal is right next to it so which we walked down the canal path after walking Around the lake. We got as far as the Burleigh pottery museum which has a cafe and shops. You can cross the canal nearby to it. Very interesting place unfortunately no time to go around the museum, but used the cafe!. A good day out in all
J. B.
Had not been before. Great walks round lake and along canal. Cafe good too.
c. w.
Great place for a walk .....noticed a play area for young children too... very clean ...highly recommended.
J. B.
Lovely nature reserve. Safe to walk. Great coffee shop staffed by friendly volunteers. Shame the council feel the need to add car park charges. May never visit again. Sad days
P. L.
Lovely to walk around the lake. Plenty of pleasant people. Cafe has choice of menu to suit all tastes.
j. w.
I don't use the cafe I find it to expensive so always take my own food. If the weather is good parking is a problem. The area is really beautiful lots of swans ducks etc to feed. Picnic tables. A really nice place for a walk. Children's playground. Canal Close by which you can walk along...
P. W.
Lovely place to walk around, & stop for a drink & something to eat.
c. r.
Absolutely gorgeous place very clean no litter anywhere definitely going again
D. K.
Lovely nature reserve with a great diversity of plants and birdlife. An outdoor centre offers bike/trike hire and the visitor centre/cafe offers a good selection of quality food and drinks, including the local speciality, Staffordshire oatcakes! Ice creams are available and don't forget a box of duck+goose food!
L. S.
Had a lovely walk by the lake this week, it was so nice to watch the ducks and ducklings 😍 As well as all the other types of birds that you see there. And a good lunch at the cafe. Highly recommended.
N. S.
Westport lake is excellent ~ plenty of birdwatching to be done ~ there's also plenty of woodland trails to explore. They have a good visitor centre serving hot and cold food ~ sit in or on the terrace which afford fine views ~ we payed £1-50 for three hours parking.
C. R.
I love this place. So many childhood memories. The cafe has a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere. Cakes are amazing. View and people watching is great.
M. C.
I love it here. Great friendly staff, good prices and beautiful views over the lake. The lake holds many memories for me and the visitor centre is an ideal place to sit and relax.
S. L.
Fantastic place to sit and enjoy a light snack either indoors or outdoors. Dogs aren't allowed in the cafe but you can sit outside with them in the summer or winter. They have a nice selection of quick food, oat cakes, sausage rolls, scones, a children's selection of snacks. They have soya milk and vegan spread to replace butter, they also have naked bars and others of similar nature. You can buy bird food for £2 a box, as bread is not good for birds. There are small gifts but they can be expensive. The lake itself is beautiful all year round and has wonderful places to explore and can be walked all round.
S. L.
New swings installed and the kids love them, not all climbing swings either like Hanley forest park. It was packed yesterday but I think it's because it was a lovely day and the swings had reopened the day before. Parking is £1.50 for 3 hour's which isn't bad but would be nice if it was free. Ticket machine yesterday was taking money but did not issue you a ticket. Once the seating area is sorted it will look really nice. 5 stars from my nephew, well worth a visit. Ice cream man very expensive.
R. K.
Nice, clean cafè, lovely staff, very helpful and very friendly. Great views. Food is nicely priced so it depends what you want, quick bickie with your coffee, sandwich or cake with your tea or a dinner, and tea comes in a large pot. Winner. I would imagine it gets quite rammed in the holidays but if you just want a quick and quiet cuppa in the afternoon it's a lovely place. We call in after walking the lakes to give our fitness levels a bit of a boost.
D. W.
Great lake to walk around and clean I noticed..
j. M.
Years ago my mother took us for walks around this lake so it seemed appropriate, after her death, to make this a 'memory walk' venue. Family and friends arrive by foot (bus and train stops nearby) or car (ample car park with ice cream van, and bike hire) and we commence our walk.
The circumference is just one mile and there are interesting things to keep children amused, including a maze, wild life and people fishing. Then, if they still have energy there is a playground too.
Afterwards a plate of stuffed, hot or cold oatcakes, on the veranda of the cafe is an absolute must.
The lake is situated a short walk from the Duke of Bridgewater pub at Longport. It's a grade 2 listed building and reminds us of the connection between the Duke and James Brindley who built a stretch of the Bridgewater Canal to move coal from the Dukes mines.
The Bridgewater canal is an interesting hike of about 40 miles.
P. W.
A little oasis in the city. The visitor centre has a small café with outside tables giving views across the lake. The menu is limited but good value.
J. F.
A lovely short and level walk around the lake.
s. e.
Beautifully kept reserve with crystal clear waters and plenty of wildlife including large coy carp and frequent visits from cormorants. It's well worth going down for a gander 📸👍
D. E.
Very nice place in the middle of town. Great for bird watching or feeding the birds on the water. There is a lovely little maze across the lake.
S. M.
Lovely place. Lots of side trails so it's not just a circular walk around the main lake. Plenty of parking. Good little visitors centre.
L. M.
Great place to bring many ages. Good café. Good playground and lovely lake to walk round.
G. H.
Always a nice gentle stroll around the lake no matter what the weather. Very popular place so can be busy at times with families and dog walkers. Some owners dont clear up after their dog(s) so be careful where you walk, esp with children. Large free car park is good and ample. From here you can also walk along the canal either towards to potteries and local history or to Harecastle Tunnel. Good refreshments available either from the cafe or Boatcake boat.
D. H.
Lovely walk around the lake and then a nice coffee in the cafe. Very surprised how nice it is, will definitely go again.
P. S.
Very nice walk around lake, crnt understand we're money is going to park, As absolutely disgusting with all the rubbish on carpark
J. H.
Lovely walking around the lake on a cold snowy Winter's day. Getting a bit of fresh air and managed to catch a couple of snaps of wildlife. The visitors centre wasn't open when we were there, but I did see a couple of people with coffee from the visitors centre, so I assume we had missed it.
C. M.
Largest lake in Stoke and my daily dog walk in summer. Lovely scenery. Gets busy at weekends. Lots of wildlife to sit and watch
D. M.
Very nice place. Lovely views across the lake. Nice food. I had a couple of cheese and bacon oatcakes which were lovely if slightly on the edge of a little pricey.
A. S.
Lovely walk around lake, and slung the canal. Cafe was lovely and friendly also spotlessly clean
i. d. Z.
A splendid place to drink coffee in the morning a place to relax to start your day well8
N. B.
Huge area for walking distance but water and ground dirty it's really shame for animals
T. L.
If this was a website for lakes in Stoke on trent it would be a 4 star, defo worth a visit, take some seeds for the birds there pretty friendly, lovely little walk
D. B.
Love this place always enjoy visiting and the cafe is great with realistic prices 👍
K. W.
Nice coffee, nice view
D. S.

A. H.
Lovely place to take a lunchtime walk.
H. L.
This visitor centre is lovely offering panoramic views of the lake. Food & drink available plus souvenirs
K. S.
Everything you need for a relaxing time. A couple of beautiful lakes to walk round, a kids play area, coffee shop with views over the lake, and restrooms.
There's even a child-friendly maze where the height of the bushes is low enough that parents can keep an eye out and the younger children don't feel lost.
The cafe serves hot and cold food to suit most tastes, and delicious selection of cakes for a treat.
L.
Lovely and clean cafe, staff are friendly, plenty of seating inside and out
A.
Nice playground, beautiful body of water. For anyone wondering, Parking is £1 for 1 hour. There are approx 50 spaces. You cannot park on adjacent streets as they are double yellowed or parking permit required.
D. S.
Live local to Westport Lake very nice place lots to explore by the canal too which is nice for a long walk or cycling in the summer particularly. Only criticism is that paid for parking will soon be introduced but apart from that great place with a cafe toilets and play area for kids... pushchair friendly too!
B. A. B.
Excellent outdoor experience. Thank you for not putting car parking charges on here yet! Lovely cafe, lovely drinks and food which you can take outside to eat. The cafe was very clean and well run, masks were worn by staff and it felt very safe. Wonderful family friendly place.
B. S.
This place is really peaceful and relaxing. What a surprise the drive to get to it is like driving through Beirut..
I. R.
Nipped in for a quick snack, excellent, had jacket spud with chilli and side garnish, staff really friendly, very QUICK service, usually you wait ages a some places, not here, only downside the brew was a bit cold.
S. L.
Lovely place I have given it 4 stars for the fact that the council now charges for parking
d. s.
Lovely place only thing is the big attraction of west port is the ice cream man but he is that expensive it's put us off
A. M.
Nice place to enjoy coffee and delicious cup cakes with a large balcony to view the Westport Lake.
D. M.
Lovely place to stop and take a break for a couple of days. Plenty of walks and shops nearby. The local people are really friendly too. Shame about the litter in the canal. It definitely needs cleaning up.
M. A.
Fabulous place.. nice moorings.. wildlife centre.. close to Tamworth and motorway..
I. D.
Great location to walk around the lakes and along the canal. The added bonus of a fresh, hot and delicious bacon and sausage bap with a cup of tea at the visitor centre. Great value as well. We will be back for another visit and bap.
E. S. M.
A beautiful place for family to enjoy and relax and children to play
N. B.
Beautiful in the snow and ice and had the pleasure of meeting a big fat rat who was particularly friendly 🙂🙂🐭🐭🐀🐀🍞
G. W.
Westport lake is a great place to walk and feed ducks I would recommend visiting
S. H.
Great place. Went in for a hot chocolate on a very cold day. Couldn't resist a slice of cake too! Good choice of food including oatcakes! Very clean throughout including the toilets and the staff were efficient and pleasant. Well done 👏🏼
K. N.
Really missing a trick on opening times cafe close just as people finish work can come out for walk and coffee. Absolutely crazy only in the uk could this happen. Does nobody think what a little gold mine they got. The business planning is poor. Evening walks get drinks and snacks should be open till at least 730pm and later in summer councils show they cannot run business.
S. D.
Very level easy stroll around lakes. Suitable for pushchairs etc good play area with frames for different ages
Lots of Geese and duck wanting to be fed and friendly!!
Nice cafe not expensive and car park is free. Perfect for a few hours on a sunny day.
Could do with a bit of a stinging nettle clear near paths or where kids could go into wooded areas
J. R.
Great place to walk with your children , enjoy the outdoors
D. G.
Lovely walks and nice and flat .Great to take dogs
M. J.
Nice little cafe , when you can use it. Lovely clean toilets. Westport is a great place to stretch your legs. Good children's play area on site. If you want more privacy, you can walk on the wildlife paths . These are less busy. Maybe a bit awkward for wheelchairs.
r. P.
Nice building can sit over looking the lake on an outdoor balcony, food and drink are a bit over priced most people use the canal boat which sells oatcakes and hot beverages.
C. F.
Lovely walk around the lake looking at the wild life ,nice drink aftet.
n. H.
The most beautiful place to visit to feed the ducks or walk the dog. Play area here too and an ice cream van and boatcake barge
D. W.
Excellent little cafe after a walk around the lakes.
S. T.
Disabled facilities include toilets, parking and bicycle and canoeing for the disabled. Plenty of handcycles and double seated bicycle/carts available and a mobility scooter to hire but always best to check availability in advance. Cafe selling light meals and drinks. Seating inside and out on a balcony overlooking the main lake. Lots of birds to see and other wildlife. Plenty of parking which is free at the moment and a decent playground which is safely enclosed. Dogs allowed on a lead. Nice walks on well laid paths which are accessible to wheelchair users. Lovely free day out (unless you purchase snacks or ice cream from the van)
S. B.
Nice honest food. Toilets not great though...
c. c.
Fantastic wildlife centre in the middle of a inner city location, parking, kids playground wildlife, cycling, walking jogging on a level site, vast amounts of wild birds, Fishing on offer,
P. T.
Really nice area for a day out. We took the nephew to feed the ducks, Geese and swans. Bought some bird seed at a tesco on the way (don't feed ducks bread!!) Nice play area there after the walk round too. Finished off with a ice cream and a walk up the canal to look at the boats 👍👍 5 stars would go again.
J. P.
Beautiful place to have a walk & clear ur head..
K. N.
Lovely place for the kids to visit and the little cafe has a fantastic view and such nice food
K. G.
Staff were polite and the food was nice, with fair amount of choice that was reasonably priced. We sat outside on the deck which was really lovely, eating dinner whilst watching over the lake. Perfect spot for some afternoon lunch!
D. P.
Great! Lots of wildlife. Shame the playground isn't finished yet
K. W.
Beautiful place, very friendly staff. They also offer great activities for all ages.
Z. S.
What a lovely place to visit, there is the large lake, a smaller one and some ponds to walk around. Or you can hire bicycles for a small fee and leisurely cycle the nice flat path around the lake. There is a cafe and icecream van and nice park for children and picnic benches. Parking is also free!
T. B.
when I visited the facilities were closed, hopefully they will open soon, large enough carpark and a good well maintained but covered in excrement from all the wildfowl, to be expected I suppose but there was quite a lot.
the path was dotted with benches and fishing areas.
just at the entrance the "Barge Inn Booze" was anchored and I purchased a few soft drinks from there.
E. C.
First time here absolutely lovely, great for kids and adults
m. d.
Nice place to have a cup of tea, sit on the veranda and look over Westport Lake. The walks around the lake are wheelchair friendly and you can also go for a walk along the canal. Free parking as well, excellent.
S. T.
Nice place, beautiful lake, perfect for a walk.
s. s.
George loved his 1st visit ❤
K. S.
Great place to go for a walk, well paved and suitable for strollers/bikes etc. Cafe on site with a balcony overlooking the lake. Excellent playground next to car park with lots to do for toddlers and older kids.
K. B.
Love walking at westport. Here's a few mushrooms I spotted there.
r. c.
Easy parking, lovely stroll around the lake then good coffee and hot oatcakes with cheese - friendly service and a reasonable price. Highly recomended
T. P.
Great cafe and facilities. Nice lake for a walk around. No issues.
A. W.
Plenty of bird life but not much else. Visited the cafe and it seemed to have shrunk in size since we originally visited before Covid happened. We moved on ..
B. G.
A great afternoon out, free parking and a great cafe with plenty of food and drink you will love the wildlife and scenery
J. E.
Lovely, well worth a visit.
R. M.
Beautiful lakeside setting. Yummy Staffordshire oatcakes too. I had cheese and sausage.
G. R.
Nice view from the balcony, no vegan options food-wise and a request for a decaf latte, with oat milk and a soya latte confused them despite them saying that oat milk soya milk and decaf were all available options. For non vegans it's handy to go for a snack before or after a walk and there are toilets.
S. K.
Lovely place to visit...specially if sunny..
S. B.
Great place to visit, we bought our dogs (on lead!) and they had a lovely time, even if they wanted to go swimming and get friendly with the ducks 🤣 visitor centre was excellent with covid measures too, and great wheelchair access.
The walk around the lake is nice and flat, ideal for wheelchairs or mobility issues, and obviously pushchairs.
Thoroughly recommend a visit!
T. M.
Beautiful walk around the lake, and cafe with lovely views (and cake!)
W. T.
I'm a foster carer so westport Lake is a great day out for children all ages. Seeing wildlife, the lovely walk, a playground for children to play and a cafe with a beautiful view and friendly staff along with clean toilets.
k. m.
Lovely walk and roof top cafe
J. M.
Nice staff, nice little cafe, lots of parking, lovely lake.
I. P. 8.
Nice walk around the lake, depending of dog owners have their dogs on a lead, the playground is ok, best suited for children over 4 due to the climbing frames. Nice ice cream van here too when the weather is nice that you can pay via card. Overall a nice couple of hours to burn.
B. H.
The playground is closed, perfectly timed for the school holidays??
S.
A well kept visitors park, something for everyone, haven't been in a while,, a new thing available I noticed was a bike like a tandem for 2 or 3 people.. think these are hired out by you by a shop on site, don't know how much the cost is and for how long, may have a go when i visit next time with a friend 👍
J. F.
I really like this place. Small little cafe and a nice walk that is good for kids. The staff are knowledgable about wildlife and provide great advice on other walks that are good for kids.
S. B.
Nice lunch in cafe. Lovely walk around lake. Good play area for children
C. X.
Have to pay for parking now, but put a pound in and got nothing out.
E. T.
Fantastic place for a walk and snack fab cafe
K. P.
It's a nice walk around the lake, not too far to go all the way around, they have a visitors center with a cafe, boat that sells food and drink on the canal next to it and there's a park for kids. Good few hours out for the day
S. S.
Good place to spend couple of hours with family.
C. C.
Decent coffee from a proper coffee machine - so glad they got rid of the old 'instant' coffee machine. Order large coffees and get stamps on the loyalty card
C. M.
Great place for nature watching and easy dog walking. Beautiful any time of the year
D. D.
Nice, calming, lovely little cafe. Nice food. Has a playground, perfect for dogs and children.
L. D.

P. R.
Great fun feeding the animals.
F. W.
Wonderful place for a walk and to relax... lovely coffee shop and park for kids
N. J.
Great views over the lake. Good coffee and snacks available. Can struggle to get sitting.
S. P.
Nice place to walk the dog and take your kids as there is a playground, there is a parking fee of 1.50 per hour.
R. J.
Great for families with having an enclosed playground. The lake itself is a lively setting for having a walk around. There is a visitor centre with a small cafe with a small selection of food and drinks, there is local information on wildlife, toilets and an outdoor seating on a balcony overlooking the lake. There is ample car parking spaces. I took the kids there while my wife was teaching free buggy fit classes on the open grass areas.
M. W.
Excellent place for a snack or a coffee or that all important loo stop.
P. J.
Lovely.... plenty of parking, nice and clean and ideal for a stroll around the lake, lots of wildlife to look at aswell!
R. R.
Always good to walk round West Port Lake
E.
Spent a good 2 hours feeding the ducks and a very slow walk round.
Nice to chill on a summers afternoon. Love the cafe, plenty of parking and even a small kids play ground.
Mainly came here with my dog and once with my 15 year old.
Definitely a place for younger kids
S. H.
Year's since I last visited Westport Lake ,and how much it's changed, really impressed and a great place to bring the kids . What more could you ask for kids park , very nice Cafe
big lake with lots of birds 🐦 and best of all a great day out AND NO ENTRANCE FEE ..
g. g. (.
Very nice, comfortable, and good views of the lake and wildlife.
P. T.
Nice and flat 20 minute stroll. Busy at weekend. Loads of Swans Coots and Moorhens and ducks .Even a Great Crested Grebe. Cafe and Ice cream van plus Green Door cycles.
W. D.
Lovely morning here with the grandchildren. Children had a five item lunch bag from the cafe, good value and some healthy options. Only down side and reason for only 4 stars was that the toilets weren't open.... thankfully we didn't need them
J. H.
Lovely little haven of wildlife and peace. Had a joyous little 5k run round the lake whilst watching a pink sunset...
L. H.
It's always a nice walk with plenty of birds to feed, there's a park for kids when they're allowed on it, an ice cream van is usually there and sometimes you can hire bicycles to go around the lake. There's a cafe when allowed and a couple of barges that sell things on the adjacent canal.
J. W.
One of my favourite lakes in the city. So much to take in whilst enjoying a walk, regardless of the time of year. Easy to get to via road or canal network.
The cafe is lovely with polite staff and there's usually a I've cream van serving up delish soft ice creams on the car park
m. b.
Great place for a lovely walk..clean and tidy and a very pleasant place to be...also cafe 5 stars..good quality and reasonable prices... definitely return..
T. H.
Really nice walk around the lakes and a special nature reserve part too. Nice cafe and toilets. Lovely playarea for the kids with a bit of grass to play footy. Good ice cream van too, reasonably priced. Very special place, been coming for years😊
K. D.
A very pretty visitor centre in the middle of a not so pretty area.
B. B.
I met a friend for lunch, the place is very clean and well organised. The staff are exceptional, very friendly. Great fresh food at a great place, service with a smile, great views, what more can you ask for.
S. H. C.
Great facility for the people of Stoke on Trent.
It is approximately one mile around the lake, with many rest areas and benches to sit on, for the not so able.
There are also canal walks adjacent to the lake.
Highly recommended.
A. H.
Nice walk, good coffee and great playground.
J. N.
Is just pleasant to walk around the lake on and have coffee when finished
S. G.
Lovely area to walk. Plenty of seats for the not so mobile. Excellent visitor centre with beautiful views over the lake
S. C.
Lovely place to go and have a nice stroll .
T. D.
Nice place to pop into for a,cuppa after a walk around the lake. Cafe very reasonable with home cooked scones and cakes. Sandwiches and jackets among other lunchtime choices.
Interesting reading though with a 2year old we did get to see it all. Will be back again
L. B.
Baby changing area could do with a softer area to change babies bums, it's just a hard surface and the soap dispenser either needs fixing or filling up! Cafe prices are overpriced for the food! Park is very good and the lake is lovely to walk around.
D. G.
Gr8 place to visit and have a walk around. The parks gr8. The pedal bikes looked a bit expensive and parking was free. Wouldnt visit if you had to pay for parking would go elsewhere
J. W.
NB beautiful spot. Main lake perfect for a walk, run or even fishing. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the nature trails to the left. Children's play area and a cafe I'm the visitor centre. Usually an I've cream van too! For those wishing to extend their walk explore the canal. Free car parking
J. G.
Lovely walk round the lake. Had a coffee and ice cream but couldn't stay as long as we would have liked as toilets closed due to covid. Not sure why as toilets open in most places now.
d. l.
Lovely place to Moor a narrowboat, apart from copious amounts of goose muck
C. W.
It's a lovely park and it's always kept well. Me and my S/O like to come once a week to have a wonder and get some fresh air. We like how's there's a few different paths you can take. But be aware that if you do choose to go off the beaten path, there are a lot of geese that hiss and waddle after you.
J. M.
A fantastic visitor center for the Westport Lake park. Currently undergoing some external renovations and improvements that will be finished for the Summer. Wonderful lakes surrounded by wooded walks and cycling paths. The amenities of the centre are clean and modern and the cafe is lovely. A great place to visit, exercise or bird watch.
L. L.
Lovely place. Balcony means you can sit outside looking over the lake. Eco friendly. Clean toilets. Good choice of snacks , panini, jacket potato, sandwiches and children's lunch boxes.
Tables nicely spaced out, not squashed together like some places. There is also a little shop selling wildlife related goods and a leaflet rack.
Definitely a place to visit whether family, couple, single person or on business. Pleasant walks along the canal , round the lake, and a children's play park all right next to the visitor centre.
L. P.
Nice place to enjoy a little walk around the lake.
Playground is great for all ages.
Busy at weekends so sometimes difficult to find a space!
A. W.
The visitor centre has a cafe inside, serving good hot drinks and home made cakes. There is free parking. The route around the lake itself is wheelchair friendly. There is a children's playground on site. All for free. Something for everyone! :-)
J. B.
Love Westport lake don't know why I just do
w. w.
Very family friendly and accessible for most people. My partner and I use a mobility scooter and an electric wheelchair but both got around fine. If you want to feed the birds please remember not to feed them bread. You can buy bird foods there or take your own just no bread.
J. H.
Love walking around the lake and at the visitors centre you can buy seeds to feed the birds (some of them come and take it from your hand which is quite good). Advice is not to take bread as the seeds are cheap enough to buy and staff are very friendly. Have a lovely park for the children to play in. Really nice place for a day out.
H. J.
Beautiful place . Take a relaxing walk around it's great
S.
Nice cafe with toilet facilities over looking Westport Lake. There is also swings etc in the play area for the kids and picnic area. I recommend this place for a family visiting to watch the birds on the lakes and in the trees. Good place for narrowboat boats to moor on Trent and Mersey Canal which runs alongside the lake.
A. M.
Great cup of tea and good range of ices including mini milk ideal for 2 year old granddaughter at a fair price! Well organised to cope with the current Covid19 situation.
R. E.
Great for all the family, lots of wildlife. Play area for the kids. A cafe for a nice cuppa and sarny over looking the lake, great for fishing or bird spotting, also has wheelchair access and wheelchair hire plus cycle hire.
A. K.
Nice place to pop in for a cuppa, after a walk around the beautiful lake. Many reviews say it's expensive, but prices are average in my opinion, not many places where a tea is cheaper than £1.60 and it makes more than one cup! Only issue is carparking,it soon gets full!
N. T.
We called in at the visitor centre cafe just before it closed. The staff were clearing up, but one of them kindly offered to get my dog some water. Lovely view out over the lake.
G. P.
A great place to spend a couple of hours, either walking around or sitting chilling next to the lake. We were hiring a boat on the canal and moored up right next to Westport Lake (very good moorings and safe/quiet).
A. P.
A great place to walk your dog. I would give 5 stars if I could go into the cafe to get a coffee when I'm on my own. Dogs can sit outside, but I can't go to the counter to purchase anything. More people would go in if dogs were allowed.
C. K.
Love it here. Lovely walks around the lake and by the canal. Nice cafe and the ice cream man is always there with his delicious ice cream. Delightful play area for children.
P. M.
Scenic, Leisurely walk around the lake. We took an extended walk away from Festival Park to the Visitors Centre, had a coffee and then took the lakeside path, past the maze. Visitors centre is good, albeit overpriced. Staff wasn't cheerful though. Good place to take dogs. Narrow boats along the canal. Just Lovely.
L. W.
Brilliant place to go for all the family, there is a cafe a park 2 lakes, an ice cream van. You can hire bycycles, also family bicycles that seat 4. there are picnic tables at different points around the lake too a great day out.
m. t. (.
We loved it, kids enjoyed it, The walk round the lake was great exercise, great views, park was ok, ice-cream van is a very expensive, rip of prices for kids.
R. T. G.
Ideal place to drink a coffee enjoying the amazing views.
N. B.
Things felt a little cramped to be honest, and busy, but bums on seats can in a sense be its own recommendation. The consumables were of average to good standard, and the staff were pleasant too. Depending on the day, the outlook can be hard to beat.
C. T.
Lovely place to visit, you can sit, have a snack and, or a drink overlooking the lake.
M. F.
lovely place to visit but car park was very busy and toilets were small. it was a very sunny day though. kids loved the bike hire, not bad price either. very good for diabled person to visit.
M. W.
A beautiful busy place and a lovely walk. The play area is well equipped but sadly in need of a good clean, not ideal for sitting with a picnic or perhaps that's the idea to get you to use the cafe there.
D. G.
Great for a nice walk around the lakes, brilliant park for the children, great to take your own picnic or visit the cafe, or the barges selling tea, coffee snacks or even an alcoholic beverage and not forgetting the great icecream van
m. l.
Four stars because although I didn't use the visitor centre the rest of my time was spent enjoying a lovely walk round the lake. A lot of hard work has been done at this venue and it's paid off,its a lovely place to spend time.
S. M.
Visited this park Saturday 3rd April 3rd 2021 nice park, the jobs worth lady who locked the toilets at 3.55 pm and wouldn't open them again for my wife, daughter-in-law and granddaughter to use, it spoilt a lovely afternoon,we had to leave the park to find toilets, spoilt a lovely afternoon,as we hadn't seen our family since Christmas.thanks
J. M.
Lovely so relaxing and good fun for people with kids too the park nice cafe ice cream van barges lovely
S. F.
Sadly our last visit as we refuse to pay for parking when it quite clearly lists parks and recreation on my rates bill why should we be taxed twice if everyone boycotts this unfair tax they will have to change it
S. T.
Good facilities for families. A lovely playground and the paths around the lake are great for my 5yo to cycle and me to push the baby's pram, also the tow path along the canal. Downside is the considerable amount of duck mess that spoiled our picnic and many visitors ignoring warnings to not feed the ducks bread! Ice cream van here too.
N. G.
Beautiful Sunday morning walks around here
T. O. W.
Brilliant visitor centre for a lovely location.
The visitor centre of Westport Lake is great. The centre was built and is sustained in an incredibly eco-friendly way, which is very fitting for the surrounding nature reserve.
The centre has very clean toilets, taking into account that they are public. The centre itself is home to a quaint little cafe with a terrific view of the lake, not only from inside but the balcony too! The cafe has a variety of hot drinks and snacks, at reasonable prices which could definitely allow a comfortable break after a walk around the lake. The building also serves as a sort of gift shop, albeit with little variety, with many nature related objects for sale which would not be out of place in a garden.
As an added bonus, the staff are friendly and the centre is decorated well, with informative, museum-like exhibits shown on the walls. These tell the history of Westport lake, some of the local area, and the building itself.
The centre is also in close proximity to the playground, car park and a bicycle hire centre (which has disabled trikes avaliable too). The visitor centre has disabled access.
Overall a great location to accomadate a day out at the lake.
K. A.
Great walk .lots of different birds to look for .Park is great for kids .Good parking pace .even got bikes you can hire to ride round
D. C.
Despite Covid restrictions, the cafe in the visitors centre was very well designed with social distancing in mind.
Lovely happy pleasant staff and lovely coffee too.
5*
J.
Should be able to take dogs in, especially when the weather is bad. They'd get more business. They must've lost several lots of custom when I was there today, people with dogs walked up to the entrance to get a hot drink and then turned around.
R. H.
Absolutely beautiful, a credit to all involved.
C. M.
Lovely place to walk around and plenty off benches for a picnic. And a lovely playground for the children to play
R. “. R. D. B.
One of the most beautiful places to spend a gorgeous summer days, walking around the lake is good for the soul and the visitors center is great also.
S. G.
Absolutely beautiful place. Get yourself a coffee and sit on the balcony overlooking the lake & watch the swans is so amazing. Want too really relax, this is the place.
K. B.
It was okay, probably best for young children as its more aimed at families with young children. Included is a play area, vicious geese, a small maze, and a visitor centre running normal business hours. Be warned that not all dogs are kept on the lead, however I only came across friendly ones :)
P. W.
loved the visitors centre although put of by the many rats seen on the path around the lake. Ideal location if you are a rat spotter.
C. P.
Lots of staff but lots of queuing I'm afraid. Also there always seems to be a lack of stock control as the cafe choice tends to be limited by lunchtime. What there is available is good but they need to work out the availability of food throughout the day. They would sell more as I have in the past gone away because there isn't much left. How many more people do the same I wonder.
M. C.
Really lovely spot. Nice teas and coffee and food.Good locak info and wildlife info. Fascinating eco friendly building lots if lovely wood with great views of the lake and canal. Good parking. Good for dog walking, cycling and running.
j. f.
Loads of ducks here the pigeons landed on us to eat bread. Made my daughters day she was laughing her head off. She also loves the playground as well great place to take your kids.
V. C.
Lovely day at Westport Lake. My partner and I sat at the cafe while our daughter and her friends took our dog's around for a walk for Children In Care as we are both disabled and cannot walk around ourselves, but the tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake are lovely but not cheap xx
K. T.
Only used the loos but alot of local information on offer and reasonably priced refreshments
B. 7.
A great place for birds. Some of the usuals with an odd winter rarity. A nice place for a walk or to take a few photos.
Dogs can be a pain, running all over the place. Some owners need to clean up after them too. The gated entrance is ridiculous. It opens at odd times and closes before sunset in summer, you could get locked in!
J. B.
Lovely little cafe overlooking the lake, with some small exhibits about the solar energy. Still good for a walk around the lake for a variety of ages - not too long, not too short.
R. H.
A lovely reserve looked after by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. Has a cafe on site with nice views over the lake. Only came here for a work meeting so can't comment on the paths but check the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust website for news on the latest events held here.
P. O.
Westport lake from inside cafe love this place
f. R.
Lovely walk twice round the lake up to the cafe 2 coffees bacon and cheese oatcakes jam scone happy for the rest of the day
C. W.
A lovely walk round the two lakes or alternatively by the canal. It's a well kept area with a nature trail, cafe, car park, visitors centre and children's play area. Hard to believe you're just minutes away from Burslem and Tunstall town centre.
p. h.
Great Place to just take a walk and take in the lovely place it is
P. S.
Very popular Staffordshire Wildlife Trust visitor centre. Good food and service. Excellent work on behalf of conservation. It's popularity impairs it chances of being a really good haven for wildlife, but in an urban context it is still groundbreaking!
L. B.
Great little centre. Polite and helpful staff. Hot and cold food and drinks available, also ice lollys. You can also purchase various staffordshire wildlife products. Clean toilets and a lovely view of the lake from the outdoor terrace. I also reccomend the nature tots and staffs wildlife children's holiday club.
c.
Beautiful place, a real oasis in Stoke. Lovely dog walking area, and just great for a nice wander anytime, day or night. Great visitors centre with a cafe balcony over-looking the lake.
L. C.
The Westport Lake Visitor Centre is a really good place for a drink and snack with friendly helpful staff. They served me a hot drink today after i went in today, with 5 mins to go before closing, and on my way out I noticed vegan gingerbread on the counter. Wow. Wish i saw it when i went in xxx
K. T.
Nice lake, for a brisk walk. Shame about the new car parking charges though
K. B.
Lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the wildlife.
Disappointed with the coffee, but friendly staff will go again but drink something different.
c. 1.
Always welcoming good beverages and the cakes look magnificent!!
J. K.
I wasn't sure who would be open with the latest lockdown, but was pleased to find the visitor centre open. The toilets were also open but there were signs saying for cafe customers only. Not the cheapest but a pleasant view of the lake.
I. B. M. B. P.
first visit beautiful walk round the lake then Oat cakes and a cider then ice cream . Clean peaceful perfect walk . great play park for the kids lots of space . will be coming back soon
J. W.
Lovely! And dog friendly too 😊
C. B.
Friendly and helpful place to seek information or have a snack and drink. Lovely view as well.
H. M.
Lovely place for a family walk, just be careful when feeding the ducks and geese as the geese can become aggressive with small children
D. L.
Very lovely but very loud couldnt hear as it sounded like a swimming baths. Views were really nice.
O. F.
Really lovely place, well kept and fab wildlife for the kids. Lovely park and went for tea and cake in the centre. Little bit pricey but was lovely and fresh
L. L.
One of our favourite places for peaceful walks.
S. S.
Lovely walk around the lake feeding the ducks with duck food bought at the shop/cafe .Had a lovely snack in cafe before heading around the lake
D. W.
Sadly due to the corona virus the visitor Centre is closed. However, the lake and surround walks are fabulous.
Many thanks to the people who keep it in such a lovely place.
J. T.
Good parking, nicely kept nature area. Very good childrens play area. Cafe is okay, bit basic. There is a meeting room available to hire at extortionate prices.
s. w.
Such a lovely visitor center and cafe. Great view of the lake and a nice selection of home made cakes and sandwiches. Well worth a visit.
L. M.
Such a lovely surprise to find this little treasure of a nature reserve. Cared for by Stoke council who obviously have the right ideas as to what the wildlife needs, the evidence for this is in the abundance of birds with many different species surviving very happily.
T. M.
Nice lake to walk/scoot/cycle
around, good play area and a cool cafe to eat. We went on a bank holiday weekend and the bins were over flowing all over the place, but that's a minor gripe and likely just a one off circumstance
T. “. H.
Well worth a visit. This eco friendly building is a good information point with a great cafe. Floor-to-ceiling glass and the balcony give wonderful viewing of the lake and its wildlife; whatever the weather.
J. J.
It's a good place for a nice flat stroll around the lakes with plenty of wild birds and the odd water vole to see . good selection of snacks and refreshments also a great play area for the younger ones .
D. S.
Beautiful place . Excellent for dog walking , family time , or just been by yourself .
A. S.
I was well impressed with the both the lake and visitor centre. Saw some different species of ducks and geese on the lake then had a lovely coffee and scone in the cafe.
S. O.
2 lovely lakes, clean wooded bird rich environment. Enjoyable walk, friendly information centre with a good variety of food & snacks. Definately worth revisiting & great way to spend 2 hours or so.
P. W.
It is a good walk around the lakes had Bella our dog with me so didn't go into visitors centre enjoyed it
M. S. -. T. B. B.
This is the best place to sit, enjoy a nice cuppa and perhaps a treat and watch the wildlife over Westport Lake. I've been more times than I could remember and the staff are always lovely! Wheelchair accessible too!
G. b.
Great place to see nature and lovely walks. Cafe is great with friendly staff and lovely views over lake. Free parking too.
E. P.
Lovely cafe run by Staffs Wikdlife Trust. A flat walk around the lake plus cycle hire.
T. L.
Lovely cafe by the waterfront. The lake walk is beautiful and worth investigating the conservation area
T. C.
Love to go and have a coffee looking over the lake. Could see some gold and some white fish. They were a good foot long or bigger. Made me smile that they stayed away from where men were 🎣 fishing
J. C.
Lovely refreshing walk lots of visitors there But if you have to pay for Parking We WILL not be visiting their again ?
C. T.
Very good for walking, bikers need to be careful. Cafe brilliant.
K. G.
I love westport lake! Such a fun few hours. The visitor centre is clean and well kept.
If you're going to take your kiddies to westport lake the visitor centre sell bags of seed and fruit/nuts to feed to the ducks, geese and swans. You can also pick bags up at super markets for a few pounds. Please don't feed bread!
P. S.
Hard and soft surface paths all the way around the lake lovely place to walk around loads of wild life.
S. B.
Great place, lovely cafe, friendly staff great choice of food / drinks. hot and cold food available but more importantly well priced big bags of duck food! Clean toilets
J. D.
Westport lake used to be lovely but they've "improved" it with a total eyesore visitor centre and rip off cafe.
It gets extremely crowded.
Try Knypersley Reservoir instead, it hasn't been "improved" or gentrified yet.
C. B.
Friendly, clean and a nice place to sit with a hot drink, over looking the lake.
P. S.
Westport Lake's a great place to walk your dog.
Very clean. Apart from the duck muck.
Big Ponyta spawning site for Pokémon Go enthusiasts, if you're into that kind of thing.
M. H.
A lovely meal with amazing service from the cafe staff, and to polish it off a beautiful over the lake
A. W.
Great for families. Well maintained paths, bike hire available. Visitors centre sold freshly made tasty food at reasonable prices
D. B.
The fact that West port lake was a venture of some local victoriana bloke, that had it built, then it fell into disrepair. Roll on a century and a bit and it has had some real money spent on it, a lovely spot in the outskirts of Burslem. Well worth a visit
J. C.
It was a good visit food was of a good value for a snack. The staff could do with a lesson in manners didn't get a please or thank you of the when I asked with a please and thank you. Manners count for a lot in my opinion.
A. S.
Very good few hours out we were there as our Daughter and 2 friends were doing a walk for Dementia they did 10 laps then we all went in the cafeteria for a drink and bit to eat which was very nice basic food but all good very clean and just next door on the canal there's a barge that does Staffordshire oatcakes and drinks so it's well worth a visit.
M. P.
Lovely little centre with fantastic views over the lake. Food selection is simple but satisfactory, and service was quick and friendly. We came on a miserably rainy day, but it would have been lovely in the sunshine.
v. m.
Nice place to visit lovely lake and a smaller one were model boats can be sailed. There are plenty of places to walk round the lakes and surrounding areas. There is a wildlife sanctuary, a visitor centre with a cafe and toilets and also a fenced in children's play area. The trent and mersey canal runs right past the lakes and often there are is a narrow boat selling traditional Staffordshire oatcakes "the boatcake" and another which sells sweets....recommended! The carpark is free.
J. B.
Lovely cafe with outside terrace after a nice with our dogs
W. M.
Lovely cafe. With brilliant view of lake from balcony seating area.
l. c.
Nice place for a walk around the lake flat and 1 mile all away round nice park swings for the children and cafe bar with sitting area when open in the day.
D. G.
Closed today because of COVID. But I'll revisit when open as the walk around the lake is lovely. Although busy today on a very sunny day, it wasn't crowded.
E. E.
Impressed a great place for a relaxing walk loads to see its hard to believe you not in the countryside also mostly flat ground so not challenging if you're not a good walker
S. L.
Gets very busy. Lovely food.
B. k.
Nice to sit with a drink looking at lake after a lovely walk
N. O.
Nice food with good views of the lake. Food is slightly pricy though. Dogs permitted on the outside terrace only so pooches and food are poor bedfellows on a windy rainy day.
P. Q.
Very busy cafe but staff were efficient and food came out hot and quickly. Very nice walk around lakes on a sunny windy day.
A. T.
Great for the younger children to feed the ducks and walk around.
p. 8.
Very nice place something for the whole family.
J. K.
Usually a great little café, but at present you cannot use the toilets - meaning a walk around Westport Lake & then a drink can be uncomfortable!
d. b.
Lovely scenery and wildlife.
t. G.
I like the center, food is good and not too expensive, they've implemented a one way system which works well, I'm happy to see them open again
D. E.
A fantastic part of history.
B. T.
Great place to visit, a walk around the lakes and then into the visitor center for a drink.
S. G.
Fantastic walks, wildlife and great visitor centre and children's play area.
S. C.
lovely place for couples or families. much cleaner than a lot of local parks, car parking can be tricky, there's plenty room but always vert busy down there.
T. B.
Westport lake is a great day out, you can hire bikes, have a coffee, see the wildlife,go the park or have a nice relaxing walk around the lake
N. X.
So beautiful and a relaxing. The children's play area is fantastic and the cafe is reasonably priced where you can also buy duck food etc..

Very nice place, great for a short walk. Visitor centre is very clean and offers a variety of snacks. Only place in Stoke that has bikes for the disabled.

Lovely green space in the heart of Stoke on Trent. Staffordshire Wildlife Trust run the cafe.

Lovely place 😍
P. J.
Didn't go into the visitor centre just around the lakes.....got there early so not too busy. Sun out.... A really enjoyable walk.
P. L.
nice day out for all the family
N. P.
Nice place, you can get close to nature, beautiful and clean the water and the environment too.
E. T.
The lake itself is beautiful but when reporting an extremely poorly looking goose to the visitors centre we were told there was nothing they could do, which we found odd and rather upsetting as surely they should have it checked out to prevent the spread of disease where possible and so that the poor animal doesnt suffer.
S. G.
Good to walk and enjoy
p. e.
Nice place to moore up from the canal. Little cafe at the visitor center. We hoped to have some bacon butties there but it's more of a tea cake and coffee shop.
P. H.
Lovely place but ashame will have your pay park from September
S. L.
Lovely walk around the lake. It was very busy but you can keep your distance
S. A.
Great place to visit. Cafe staff so, so slow it is an embarresment to the centre. Order your cuppa, take a walk around the lake and it may arrive by the time you get back
s. a.
Peaceful and ideal for runners!
S. S.
Great place for a coffee and a bite to eat. Look out over the lake while enjoying anything from a sandwich to oat cakes and pies.
D. M.
Very relaxing and not to far from home. Nice to have places like this on your doorstep.
B. B.
A lovely walk round the lake with my granddaughter....a real pleasure about to be ruined for the public when the local council impose an exorbitant parking charge....shame on them...!!
J. B.
Have visited before. Nice lake walk and cafe
Sadly some one had recently drowned in the lake, so cafe closed in respect for the deceased
On a lighter note the ice cream van was most welcome
C. L.
Great place, especially if you've got kids, they can run about here and feed the ducks (not bread though as that's not good for the ducks 😏)
L. “. L. C.
Lovely cake and coffee, great to see all single use items being recycled/recyclable.
P. W.
Great place for kids, good cheap food and drinks after a walk around the lake, it's a favourite go to place for us for a cheap day out.
D. T.
Lovely place for a walk or gentle cycling
D. C.
Took the children for a bike ride around the lake. What a fantastic place, beautiful scenery, trails shared by walkers and riders with no problems
S. H.
Nice for a snack after a walk around the lake. Friendly staff in the centre and also food barge on the canal side.
M. E.
Nice place to go for a walk, just be aware not to park near the tree area as there are lots of birds and my car got absolutely covered in bird poop!!
A. D.
Lovely place to go and have a picnic, ice cream was lovely shame it was so expensive for a ice cream though.
G. 4.
Exelent place to stop when travelling north on the Trent and Mersey canal always give myself some time to wander round the lake before moving on. Great place to have a break.😁

Beautiful lake, you'd never believe you were in a city when you're there. Fantastic visitor centre with a cafe, and even a playground for the kids.

I hadn't been here for years, but the visitor centre has really made a great difference to the lake.
The only downside is the toilets, when busy they become a little too cramped and close.

Not a bad place to visit. The visitors centre isn't really up to much mind, and there's more geese than ducks which was a bit of z disappointment

The Visitor Centre is in the park yet toilets are for cafe users only and there are no other toilets. Why?

Its a lovely walk round the lakes, after the walk there's a lovely cafe where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. You can also buy food to feed the birds
