Reviews of Butterfly World & Farm Park
P. W.
My daughter was pleased with her visit to this place. at first she didn't want to do anything else but watched the butterflies and took pictures of them and admired every butterfly that passed us by. I recommend buying ready-made feed for cows / sheep / goats in a bag right next to the ticket office and preferably 2-3 packages if the child likes to feed animals. My daughter liked feeding goats the most and we spent a lot of time with them 😅
D. L.
Great place to visit with little ones, my 2yr old really enjoyed seeing the butterfly's & farm animals. Lovely garden centre, soft play, fed the fishes, nice cafe & had a wander around. You can lose 2hrs easy here 👍
P. B.
Nice place for a day out although it being called “Butterfly world” I was expecting there to be more butterflies rather than one small room. There’s a lot of other animals, options to feed them which is a nice touch. The place did not seem too tidy, some toolbox with a hammer left in the middle of the butterfly room, ferrets cage could certainly do with a clean. It almost seems like the place is run without passion and lacks funds for improvement. Staff were all really friendly and approachable.
l. b.
Lovely place for all ages! My daughter loves being able to feed the animals and walk through the bird enclosure as well as the butterflies!
The soft play and pottery painting are also lovely to do within the craft village
S. B.
Wonderful place. Lots to see. Fabulous animals and informative staff. Clean but can have some muddy paths so don't wear your best shoes. Good place to garden shop, aquatics and many other things too. Soft play area for smaller children available. Opportunity to feed the animals with additional fees. Great parking. Makes a wonderful family outing.
T. B.
I don't know what to say other than its ok. There is lots to see and do, lots of animals to look at, quite a bit to shop and look around as well as a café.
However everything is well worn and tired. The animals look like they are kept ok and were clean.
The café food was a bit on the high side for the quality and the wait time was long.
The butterfly area was good although there were not many butterflies?
Worth a visit and you will spend a few hour's here but won't be blown away. Good for the kids which is what matters.

A wonderful place. Found it last minute as a place to go nearby for a birthday treat (i'm 47). Took my 17 year old daughter and her bestie. Had an amazing afternoon (fairly priced too), tranquil walk through the butterflies then a wander through the farm Park. We didn't buy enough food to feed everybody so will buy more next time. Spent a lot of time in the avary watching the different birds busying themselves, fell in love with the varoius chickens, and merekats. Became best of friends with the sheep that walked with us in the field. Our new favourite place. Went back the next day and fell in love with the garden centre and aquarium haha. Friendly staff, go early enough to spend the day there. Loved it.
J. H.
Interesting place, watching the butterflies was lovely. Our kids love seeing all the animals, they never get bored. There are keeper talks throughout the day. You can go in and out once paid so you could use the cafe, shops and craft places.
B. S.
Didnt tell us until after we paid quite a bit to get in that we had a lot less than an hour left to experience it but was really good some of the butterflies in the butterfly house were truly stunning and it had a fair selection of animals to see and learn about My boys were obsessed with the reptiles and the goats 🥰
N. a. S. S.
Fantastic place for a family day out. We took our 2 year-old granddaughter and she loved it. The whole place is excellent. Make sure you go with enough time to see it all.
L. D.
Nice farm... Well maintained... Loads of animals in the farm.. Can buy feed for poultry and the farm animals. Massive garden centre and aquarium shop. Pond accessories are available here too

Really enjoyed the afternoon out at the Butterfly World and Farm Park on a weekday late October 2021. The place was beautiful, clean, and they had gel and sinks throughout the different areas. There is a paddoc area where you can feed and pet farm animals (sheep, goats, cows, and goats). The day we went, sheep were in the main paddoc and they are docile enough that you can walk up to them and pet them. Some ewes were pregnant and kept in their own enclosure so they felt safe. The gift area was huge and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is also a cafe on the grounds, but we had other plans so were not able to stay and enjoy coffee and cakes.
L. S.
Amazing animal sanctuary! Has a variety of indoor and outdoor areas including a butterfly room and reptile room. All the animals were super interesting and interactive with us. It’s such a shame hearing from an employee that it’s not a very well known place considering how amazing my experience was. I’ve definitely found a hidden gem 💎
T.
Lovey place ,and you can feed and be up close to some of the animals,we were there on a Monday 3:30 no other people were about (which was lovely and quite ,we brought 2 bags of each feed (sheep, cows and poultry, well we should of brought more so keep that in mind as lots to feed ,feeding the baby lambs was awesome they come running over such a beautiful site and poke there little heads through and fed them ,we were also amongst the bigger sheep and one took fancy to me well of course I was the one with the food ,they have talks and feeding times ,they have farm animals and exotic animals, it's lovely for all ages ,love being up close to animals ,the butterfly walk through is a lovely experience the plants and koi pond are like your in some mystica rain l forest ,butterflies and moths flying all around you ,they have a cafe and eating area with huge garden center and other quaint things ,the price is very reasonable, if your ever in swindon go there ,I loved it
K. M.
Such a hidden gem! A great variety of species, well looked after with good enrichment. I was impressed. Their budget isn't massive, but their care for their animals is. I was also impressed with how many of the animals are from rescue, an excellent idea and great for discussing animal welfare with kids. Some of the enclosures are quite 'homemade' but that doesn't matter in the slightest. We saw many butterflies, when the sun came out, the air filled with them. Love how they hid when it rained! Staff were nice too. Wish the otters popped out to say hi, that would have made the day.
M. J.
Fantastic day out for my daughter sister and nephews. Fun for all ages. For a small fee you can purchase food to feed the animals and wall around at your leisure will definitely visit again
C. L.
We have visited a few times since my daughter was born but today I’m leaving feedback as our experience was lovely, lots of animals out enjoying themselves all friendly and wanting food all looking very well cared for. Lots of butterflies flying around and to admire. Staff are approachable, my 6yr old had questions to ask and they was happy to stop what they was doing to answer.
It’s nice to hear that also rescue animals too the raccoon dogs which my daughter adored. Only thing my daughter was a little disappointed with was they wasn’t doing egg collecting which she done on a previous visit maybe only available on weekends. Cafe wasn’t overly expensive unlike other farms with a friendly guy serving.
All in all it’s a lovely farm, great for children.
H. B.
This is a hidden gem, you can literally spend an entire day here. The soft play is small but lots to do, the pottery place is very reasonably priced with lost of choice to paint and the Christmas tree decorations are second to none. Cafe had a bit of a wait but it was a weekend so I can't really complain. Well worth a visit
j. w. a. g.
Fantastic place to take the family!
I came here today with my other half and newborns, and we spent around 2 hours here, but cohod quite easily have spent much longer. Definately worth the wait, due to Covid19 restrictions over the last 2 years.
The butterfly World area itself is outstanding, a real eye opener and a pleasure to go through.
They also have on site cafe, toilets, gift shops, garden centre and a number of other facilities.
Thank You 😊 🙏 😊 🙏 😊 🙏 😊
K. G.
Wonderful place to visit amazing place need all day. So much to do. I went with my one year old grandson who was entertained all day. The restaurant is good selection with far prices. He enjoyed the fish and you can feed them. Butterfly farm amazing and lovely to see the animals. Quick stop in soft play area with more refreshments. Grandma purchased some books on way home and one very exhusted happy boy.
M. J.
Beautiful butterfly's and some cute animals. The Alpacas love being fed.
C. P.
great placec to take the children. lots to see. worth a visit
P. B.
A little hard to find the entrance, but when you do you come to an onsite cafe first, then a gift shop. You pay at the gift shop, and you get served by very pleasant staff, then go through to the butterflies. The butterfly area is hot and humid, but it is brilliant seeing different species of big butterfly flying around you, and even landing on you. My grandson loved the experience.
You the follow through to a less warm area where small birds such as budgies are. You can walk through the aviary, but pushchairs are not allowed.
Finally there are farm animals such a bulls and sheep which enjoy being petted.
Overall a really pleasant experience and day out, certainly worthy of five stars.
T. E. (.
We always love coming here. Loads of animals and we love feeding the goats 😁
a. d.
Really nice place to visit. Lots to see. Friendly staff.
D. M.
Interesting place, plants, pond, fish and butterflies. Quite expensive. Would be good to have more educational content or interactive content around.
J. S.
Usual farm animals to visit on top of the butterfly enclosure and walk through aviary. There are some orders and reptiles to see too. There are activities throughout the day. Also on the same site are a cafe and restaurant, a soft play centre and a garden centre.
D. T.
Wonderful garden centre and Butterfly Animal farm. Friendly and knowledgeable staff
J. S.
This is a great afternoon experience during the summer for families, couples and friends. The experience is much like a zoo with many animals thst you wouldn't normally see, such as meerkats, otters and alpacas, along with a close up experience with farm animals including sheep, pigs, chickens and much much more.
P. W.
I remember going here years ago snd I was nice, cute but not great, but thought ut might be good for the kids. We were silly to go there on a hot day as the butterfly area, which is warm at the best of times, was inhospitable. We could barely breathe.
The staff were great, and the special times where the kids got to handle the animals was fantastic.
Some of the housing areas weren't the greatest and it was kinda sad to see some of the animals cooped up in small housing.
Due to the hot weather the soft play area which had aircon was a plus but it was a shame it wasn't included in the entry price.
I'm not sure if I'd recommend it or not really.
We wouldn't go again but if you're local and at a loss for something to do with the little ones, maybe
m. e.
Very good for the price ( no expensive) garden centre attached. Lovely day out
J. M.
Went there midweek with my 8 year old daughter. She absolutely loved it and this place is a hidden little gem. After an hour she wanted to leave, then 90 mins after that we actually did leave. Lots for kids to see and do including birds, fish, butterflies (of course) but she really enjoyed feeding the goats and the sheep. Some of the animals like the Eagle owl for example were impressive. Theres a garden centre too and the staff were brilliant. Highly highly recommend.
H. L.
Enjoy taking our Grandchildren here. They love it. Staff are pleasant . So wonderful to see the rescued animals they have blossom.
N. T.
Plenty to entertain the kids enjoyed the Butterflies
W. H.
Great place for young children to see all farm animals. Eating place is when you come out and there are lots of little different shops to look around
R. E. C.
Really lovely day out. Not a super update location but also cheap enough entry ticket so not a problem. The butterfly house is lovely
A. A.
Love Butterfly World and you can tell a lot of effort has gone in (since Covid-19 regulations hit) to make it a more enjoyable setting, but my word...I think we spent just shy of £80 for tickets, food and soft play.
It was one of those days where you just don't think until you see the statement.
Lovely day out, but it's expensive.
D. N.
Took our young daughter here the other day and enjoyed our experience. Some gorgeous butterflies and birds. I think more/bigger educational content in the farm side would make this 5 stars.
E. D.
Lovely little low budget farm and butterfly place for kids of all ages absolutely loved it would definitely go back again. Nice little hidden gem of a place staff super friendly as well which makes it even better ☺️
f. c.
Butterflies were amazing and inside was well cared for but the farm area could really do with some love and time spent on it.
S. L.
Absolutely brilliant. So much to do. Our 18 month old son loved it. Multiple experience areas where you're directly with the animals, including the aviary, butterfly house and sheep field. Great shops, cafe and restaurant too. Soft play is great and reasonably priced.
J. H.
We visited recently for the first time since the pandemic. It was great! It seems to have expanded quite a bit with a load of additional animals and open outdoor space. Staff were all really knowledgeable and friendly too. We will definitely be going back soon.
N. B.
I was very impressed. I arrived at about 10:30 with my 21 month old. We were greeted by the friendly staff and given an explanation of directions to see various areas. I had questions and they were answered fully. I think the price was very reasonable, particularly as my daughter was free.
First was the large butterfly house which was just lovely. Feeding the fish was super. Lots to see.
Then we saw the aviary and the ferrets. Even though my daughter was on my back she was terrified of the aviary! But when we walked past the caged areas she was fine. She loved the chicks!
Next we went to the farm area. It’s a spacious environment for the animals. You can tell they’re loved. The various breeds of chickens was very cool. We fed goats and saw other animals up close. I’ve never fed a sheep before and as my daughter’s favourite animal it was great fun to get close enough to feed and stroke one.
We went to the reptile house but she wasn’t interested. They don’t move enough, mummy!
We saw the otter feeding which I enjoyed but she couldn’t see, sadly, as the fence was obviously high and it wasn’t safe to sit her on the fence, of course.
We had our packed lunch in the picnic area outside the butterfly cafe, and got some cheesy chips (not bad not great) too.
Overall very impressed and we will be returning.
R. R.
Competitively priced place to visit, kids had great fun feeding the farm animals and feeding the koi carp. Would recommend for young children.
T. S.
A lovely family day out and not too expensive. All the animals seem well cared for and the prices are relatively reasonable considering the current col situation. The only real issue is the lack of public transport which does affect access for many.
a. m.
Wonderful experience. The butterflies were amazing. Got to see the otter as well. Lovely day out. Would definitely recommend for all ages.
d. b.
This was our lst visit to the Butterfly world/ farm park and we liked looking for the many different butterflies and out the back on the farm seeing the meerkats.otter.tortoise.pigs.sheep and many other animals ! We also had a coffee & cake in the quieter cafe before we had a look around the gift shop ! X
A.
Lovely place, The staff are very friendly and informative and there’s lots of different animals to see, I highly recommend visiting!
A. B.
This place makes a great family day out. Love the animals a d bufferflies. The pottery place is a great place to spend time painting a masterpiece too.
J. C.
Great place to visit. Beautiful Butterflies. Be warned its warm in there. Also visit the Birds and Farm Animals. Great afternoon out
L. S.

I absolutely loved it here standing with and feeding the sheep was amazing they are adorable as were the cows and in fact all the animals staff were friendly we done the reptile experience and Racoon talk and both times was great interaction and informative...I loved walking among the butterflies and birds aswell was a great price too very good value
B. M.
Visited last weekend with the family. Kids loved it and so did we. Highly recommend a visit.
J. E.
What a change over the shut down period. Garden centre looks cleaner and with more variety and Studley Grange is more open gets my approval can't wait to see it when complete.
M. M.
Great value for money! Friendly staff and even though there were fewer butterflies than usual due to the previous Lockdown, there were still loads!
J. R.
I can’t recommend the afternoon tea with Santa enough, my children and us adults had a fabulous time, all the staff were fantastic
K. G.
Comes up as Butterfly World but we were actually in the garden centre for lunch. Lush 'Christmas' toastie with salad. Huge serving.
E. f.
Lovely open space, can feed some of the animals and look at all the different species of animals they have
R. C.
A little rough round the edges but great fun. The best bit is feeding the animals, the cows and sheep were my particular favourite. The food bags for this are additional £1 each and you can choose from bird feed or pellets for farm animals. The kids loved the petting sessions (we did the reptile talk and got to hold a Geko) and I believe there is extra on weekends. My only criticism would be the toilet facilities and parts of the site could benefit from a good clean and freshen up. Also the toilet facilities aren't wheelchair or pram friendly but you do have other options in main garden centre which are accessible and cleaner. For the price you pay it's a lovely place to go for part of the day. If you wanted more fun to you do have the play center, cafe and pottery unit as well if you wanted to make this a whole day out.
J. B.
Went on Friday to get 3 large earthenware pots for garden then realised we wouldn't get them in my little car! Lovely helpful staff got them into our trolley & arranged delivery. They arrived this morning & the driver had to make 3 journeys back & forth to his van to get them into our front garden (which he happily dd). Very pleased, thank you! 😊
R. S.
Thoroughly enjoyed our day out at the butterfly centre and the farm park! Was a very good day out. We spent all day there. The food in the restaurant was perfect and delicious. Just a touch on the expensive side for food though. The children were buzzing once we had finished for the day! Lots and lots to talk about on the way home.
B.
Funny little place but lovely and a good price for a fun time with little ones.
M. R.
Excellent place to spend a few hours. Good mix of butterflies, birds, reptiles and farm animals. The place seems to go on forever. Unusual units within selling various items too. Great value for money.
A. T.
This is a wonderful place, the butterly place was full of butterflies, and theres also a farm behind there, plus reptiles and turtles too.
Then theres the garden centre itself which a pretty big, my little one also played in the soft play area. There is plenty to do here.
M. i. N.
Nice place to go with the kids. The sunny day also helped to cheer our moods.
R. P.
We have been several times and they keep adding more each time.
N. S.
Toddlers would appreciate it, even in winter. London Zoo it's not but littl'uns can get up close and personal with most of the animals. Buy food for the animals and encourage small children to feed them. Helps to create a bond. We've been a few times. It's worth a visit.
S. B.
Pleasant place that was a hit with my toddler. You certainly won't struggle finding a parking spot. The café was decent and so was the garden centre. Decent amount of animals and butterflies here. I wouldn't say the place looked dated, contrary to what others have said...
B. M.
Amazing Place with surprisingly amazing food would recommend a visit for anyone and everyone. Staff were lovely too
B. P.
What a fascinating place! The butterfly house was brilliant, and lots of fun animals to look at and feed, and it seems to go on forever! Fantastic for kids to explore, and you could spend all day here. Café was nice and fairly good value, with a good variety of food as well. Garden centre was also large with lots of little shops and craft places. Soft play and a fish shop as well - so much to see for little people.
O. F.
I took my animal mad 9 year old granddaughter here today and we had a really great time. The staff were really friendly and helpful and Amelie, who was our "guide" on the trailer ride was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting. The Butterfly Farm was a lovely experience. The food in the garden centre restaurant was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Highly recommend
J. H.
Shame that there weren't many butterflies! The area was a bit of a shambles and in need of a clean up... but an enjoyable time
L. G.
Really good day out! We loved the otter & giant tortoise the most
C. T.
Butterfly World is a favourite with children, because not only can they enjoy seeing butterflies and moths, but there are also a numer of other animals they can see and feed. The butterfly area is hot, humid and full of tropical plants, that ensure the many butterflies and moths have the right climate in which to live and emerging from their chrysalis as they turn into butterflies and moths. They share this space a number of reptile exhibits and a large pond full of fish coi carp. From here you move to the bird enclosure, then outside to the other animals, those you would see on a farm and in a zoo. Some of these animals you can feed and pet. You can buy the food at the same time as your tickets. It's at Studly Grange where you will also find a garden centre, shopping, activities, a resturant, plus the opportunity to explore and buy live aquarium fish and everything in which to keep and feed them, together with s selection of water features. Worth a visit.ģ
M. P.
Took my son and grandaughter. A great afternoon was had
c. o.
Good size farm, fish (Japanese koi) and animal feeding available (additional cost). Decent restaurant, friendly staff.
C.
We only had a very quick walk around the garden centre, we were mainly here for food. They are dog friendly, even in the cafe. Mugs etc in cafe were stained and cheese scones weren't very nice, but it was fairly cheap and being able to take the dog was a bonus
C. B.
To my husband's delight they now have a model train shop, I almost didn't get him out of there. Excellent selection of plants and fish for tanks and ponds.
A. K.
Excellent place to take the family for a day out variety of animals and butterflies
V. H.
Great day out for all family members children aged 14 5 and 2 all had a cracking day! Butterfly House had lots of butterfly's some even landed on us, walk threw bird cage, trailer ride with host was great explaining about the animals we even had Cuddles with baby rabbits! Sheep fields u can go in with, animals all looked healthy and well cared for we saw some lambs who were only a few hours old, we had lunch in the garden center was a bit expensive 7.50 for toasties but actually really tasty, we then went to soft play 1.80per child per half an hour and adults 2pounds but u get a free drink then we looked round garden center you don't have to book either which was good. We had a lovely day if your thinking about visiting you won't be disappointed if u love animals
E. O.
I was in the first school trip here for two years. From a primary school teachers perspective the knowledge that I gained myself from the staff was really detailed and gave me lots to build on back in class. The staff were super flexible and my class was spoilt rotten with multiple opportunities to get fully engaged with so many of the animals. All the facilities were totally what a school group needs. I look forward to revisiting next year and seizing upon the extra bits of knowledge that the staff are clearly abundant with. Thank you for such an amazing trip. It’s been a very hard couple of years for you and I hope that you’re amazing staff can see the seeds of a positive future coming back.
P. H.
Brilliant. We went with the whole family. We all really enjoyed it.
K. C.
The staff are very informative and very helpful the kids love meeting all the animals especially at handling/feeding times the only negative is that some of the areas are a little well loved and could do with updating amazing value for money.
N. J.
A little jumbled together but a really nice time.
Staff are excellent and clearly care for the animals.
The owls are stunning.
The goats meercats ottters lizzards etc etc etc are always fun for the kids. Lots to see.
H. W.
Lovely place to visit! Have now bought a yearly pass 😊
J. A.
It has so much to do and see for young children it's great. It's a bit tired and could use a refresh, but our toddler loved every moment and could have stayed much longer. Great convenient location too.
S. T.
Great for all the family, knowledgeable staff too
Also loved the cafe and shop,
A. M.
Love the various products and gifts that a great garden centre has to offer.
D. P.
It had been a while since I'd been here. In the past you could have accused the place of being a little run down. That's not really the case now as it seems they have made a sizeable investment to modernize and improve the customer experience. If you've been before, pop back, it might jump up in your estimations. If you've never visited, now would be a good time.
M. F.
Lovely place to take children see the butterfly's then walk through the farm and feed sheep goats and chickens
S. D.
Needs alot if tlc, but will keep you busy for a morning or afternoon.
Z. M.
Make sure tk buy some animal feed and fish food
C. T.
Good for a half day visit. Band is for all day to re- enter , but check on line or at venue for any changes to conditions of entry. Play area also on site at additional cost plus garden center and cold and tropical fish shop. Cafe open for drinks and food.
P. M.
Good food, nice atmosphere, all in all a very nice pleasant visit.
C. H.
Great fun with grandson on his birthday (with his parents and his grandma). It was very windy but some barns gave some relief. Nice variety of animal and his favourite: the chickens!
K. B.
It's lovely. It's quiet and the animals are really friendly It's reasonably priced.
c. a.
Really good. Feeding the animals was a great experience for the kids.

My Partner and I visited on Monday 28th February. To say We are impressed isn't enough. It was fantastic. We especially enjoyed seeing the Cockatiels and Budgies plus rescued chickens. We purchased the eggs from then and they are the best. We will be back !!!! The Garden centre was huge :) Everything to love nothing to hate 💕❤️💕
F. H.
Friendly, informative and helpful staff. Plenty of space indoor and outdoor to explore. Visited with a toddler on a wet and windy day. All day ticket made this visit great value....we went around a couple of times. Definitely be visiting again with friends.
S. A.
Absolute blast. Really enjoyed our time there with the many different animals/insects.
I recommend you wear something light for inside the Butterfly world (hot & humid) with a jacket for the outside depending on the weather.
S. M.
Great garden centre. Found a fabulous water feature. Helpful staff

This place amazed me. It looks like a small garden centre but gosh it just keeps going! So much to do! A great stop off for our long journey along the m4. Our child loved it.

Excellent place! More to do/see than you'd think too. Well worth it
A. C.
Great place to take small children for a day out. Soft play, butterfly farm & farm animals. Great cafe for lunch & close to junction 16 of M4.
J. K.
Nice little Zoo and farm park near Cotswolds. Especially the butterfly world is well presented. Might be the season, but a lot of animals were inside.
H. M.
Nice place.
Only minus - can sit up to 10 tables, where can serve 50+ kids, so you ending up standing waiting, as you can't leave if your kids are playing
D. S.
Great place for both families and couples. We really enjoyed to watch colorful butterflies, holding snake and iguana, and all the animal's farm.Best way to spend a perfect and relaxed Sunday.
M. L.
As a 72yr old visiting for the first time I found it interesting and a delightful place to take the grandchild.

It's a good place to come when the weather is bad as there's indoor animals to look at. However it is on the small side and some of the areas are a bit tired looking. I am not sure it's value for money, but at the same time it's not a rip off. The kids will enjoy it regardless
