Alright for a short excursion but don't expect a day out. Some interesting items. The art section was particularly disappointing, the standard was that of school kids art. And Swindon wants to waste money on a art gallery, please don't if this is what your are going to fill it with.

Quite a hidden gem, free entry and lots to see inside, room after room of interesting items and art. Mostly surprised to see an Egyptian mummy. Not everything relates to Swindon directly, but lots of it does. Happy to have discovered this.

A hidden gem in Swindon. They have various events for children in the holidays and plenty to see there. It's quite small so it's about an hour for a visit, 2 if you have to argue with a small child over gift shop items. Definitely worth a visit.

It is a small museum but good for a small town like Swindon. They have collections from flora fauna, dinosaurs, very lonely paintings, old Swindon paintings etc. They also have an activity hall where they usually have some activities for children. It's a good place to take your children to have a different kind of experience.

Great little museum kids love looking around and always quiz and worksheets out for them to do

A small and slightly cramped museum with no disabled access, however there are plenty of floors to explore fascinating exhibits that are often refreshed. It’s a lovely way to spend time and support the local area - also worth it to see the mummy and the alligator

I'd love for this museum to be bigger and better as i think Swindon could really benefit from investment in a new museum/art gallery. As it is, it's quite small but a has a few interesting exhibits including a real Egyptian mummy. It's free and good for 30 - 45 mins if you are in the area. Not something you would travel for but definitely worth a quick look.

Located in the Old Town area, it is a small museum over 3 floors & a larger art gallery annexe, the museum rotates it's collection of artifacts to exhibit as many as possible. The Art gallery shows many of Swindon's collection of modern British art, the most important collection outside of London. Friendly knowledgeable staff are on hand for any questions. Entrance is free & it's a good way to spend a couple of hours.

Some great features here, the highlight being the Swindon crocodile! Quite a bit to look at - Could easily fill a couple of hours here. Occasionally hard to navigate (we did a couple of rooms and THEN found the board explaining what the display was about, which was a little disorientating).

A lovely place to visit for all ages. Whether a lover of history or art, you'll find something here to keep you interested. The staff are friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.

Odd collection of art and history. The top floor gallery is bright and welcoming, but some of the smaller rooms seem a bit confused and dark. Free admission though so can't complain.

A very cute little place. Definitely has a lot in such a small place. Gives a nice insight to Swindon as a city. A nice place to go alone or with friends and family.

A free attraction in Swindon's Old Town. It's a real step back in time with products from yesteryear that were made in Swindon, dinasors and a mummie. Lots of photos and pleanty to see for all ages. Plan about 45 minutes to an hour. Art gallery is worth a ponder.

Very friendly and helpful staff and a selfie competition with the crocodile!

Lovely little stop for an afternoon out. Informative and fun for kids too with activities they can do along the way.

Swindon has the second largest collection of contemporary British art in the world, second only to the Tate, but unfortunately they don't have the space to display it. They change what they have on display so it is worth popping in every once in a while.

Pleasantly surprised. A good hour spent. Interesting iron age and roman display. Clean toilets. helpful staff.

A gem of a place. A mummy, a massive crocodile, an eclectic selection of modern art, the kids and I have spent many afternoons exploring here.

The art gallery has some really excellent mid-twentieth-century British art on display, and also some interesting modern ceramics.
