Reviews of National Trust - Croome
A. T.
Croome National Trust is a wonderful location that features fun for all ages.
Upon arrival, there is plenty of parking available on site. You will then have to choose between walking around the grounds of Croome or catching up on the history of the area, with a War Museum on site.
The grounds are host to grand architecture, from old churches, green houses and the stately home itself. The walk around these grounds can vary from 45 minutes to 1:30 depending on the route you take.
The grounds have gravelled pathways available so it is suitable for push chairs and wheel chairs too.
Unlike other National Trust sites, Croome allows you to discover some of the house's history by stepping foot inside. At current, the basement and 1st floor is open to the public and there are plenty of guides available to share the history of ownership and restoration.
Outside of the home, you can discover lots of other buildings and bridges dotted around the grounds, there is plenty to see and do here and you will not be disappointed.

The grounds at this national trust are amazing, we walked through and headed towards the church and the views were breathe taking. There's an RAF museum here by the entrance which was nice to look around and a nice addition to this national trust as ive never seen that before, the play park is great for young and older children and in a RAF theme. There's quite a walk to the main house although there is a shuttle buggy which is available throughout the day. The walk towards the house and around the lake is beautiful and I highly recommend walking round the lake on your visit, the house inside isn't on the best condition but it's nice to have a look around, when we were there the other day they had garden games available to play also including volleyball, hula hoops, balance boards etc. There was a trail looking for surfboards and if you found all the letters and found the word it makes you get a badge and a bracelet at the end which was nice. There are walled gardens that you can walk around for an additional £5 per adult and children are free.

Fabulous day all 4 of us loved the amazing views and wonderful weather. A long queue at the cafe. The grounds are just beautiful. The father-in-law loved the information the guide was able to tell us. A very small museum but well worth a visit.
S. E.
Excellent gardens and surroundings to visit in family and taking your dog.
The house is a strong part of the history of the reason but you expect to see lavish interiors you’ll be disappointed, since still a lot of work going on and deep conservation work must be done.
There is also the walled gardens which aren’t part of the NT property but it worth the visit ( fee is £5) with free coffee, tea or ice cream

Fabulous place. Can’t believe we have not been before. The grounds are fantastic with some great walks. This is Capability Browns first project and what a great job. The House is currently being worked on. There is a video that shows the interesting history of the house. But the grounds are definitely the star.

One of our favourite places to walk. Either a pre walk bap / tea cake or a post walk spicy chickpea pasty. Decent coffee also but more importantly lovely staff and lots of interesting points around to pick out. The RAF museum is a bonus but Croome is usually busy so we always like to get there early when we can. There's several decent local pubs nearby also but a few superb walks whatever the season or weather.

Spent a wonderful few hours wandering around this National Trust property. Lovely walks around the Capability Brown garden, lake and Croome Court itself. There's a cafe, a shop and RAF site too. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great day out for the whole family.

Visited here on Saturday and had a great time. The museum is small but definitely worth a visit with lots of information to be gained. The grounds are lovely with a number of different routes to take.
We walked up and around the main lake which is definitely worth exploring, just make sure to take some duck food with you! There are 2 play areas with plenty of equipment to keep the children happy. Our almost 3 year old loved the slides and also make sure you check out the natural play area which is set in the woodland.
We did go into the house and was welcomed by a nice open fire but unfortunately only a small section of the house was open so we didn't get to explore it in full. There was a noticeable lack of furniture as it looks as though the NT are going through a restoration process. The Church at the top of the hill was a nice surprise and well worth a look inside.
We spent 4 hrs at the park in total and could have stayed longer. Definitely worth a visit.
J. T.
Car park fills quite quickly, there are clearly laid out paths to enjoy a walk, children's playground and museum on site as well as a restored house. The are scooters for the less mobile to use and activities for children. Well worth a visit.

We visited Croome for my 31st birthday treat and what a treat it was too.
As someone with a deep interest in military history, I was fascinated by the links between the property and the RAF, including the brilliant stories provided by the volunteers about its time as an officers mess and as a home for a religious or spiritual order.
However, despite the weather looking amazing in the photos provided and us dressing for such weather, whilst walking around the grounds, the heavens opened and we got caught in a freak hail and rain shower which soaked us through. With nowhere to seek shelter from the elements we finally made it to the house itself and were greeted by Ann, one of the volunteers who saw us in our drenched state and immediately found us some towels to dry ourselves off with, and even took our outer jackets etc. to hang up and dry them whilst we enjoyed the property.
The attentiveness and care shown by Ann made this trip all the better, and the unforeseen weather provided us with a story we keep revisiting to laugh about and we have such fond memories from that day earlier this April. What a superstar she is, and I very much look forward to returning to Croome, with a waterproof coat just in case, and some chocolates as a thank you to Ann for her kindness.

Amazing to see how this place has flourished since it opened to the public. The house is stunning with plenty of historic features and beautiful views towards the Malverns. Landscaped grounds and parkland with variety of dog friendly walks around the lake or further into the lovely countryside. Ideal for children to explore and plenty of families enjoying the trees, walled gardens and outbuildings. RAF museum is small but very interesting and definitely worth a visit. Cafe is spot on even caters for us vegans, and liked the picnic area nr the orchard. Clean restrooms in style of war era.
P. H.
I always enjoy visiting Croome and see how the restoration is progressing.
I have not visited the actual house for a number of years and thoroughly enjoyed my time there today
The volunteer guides were so knowledgeable and eager to share this knowledge with me.
One guide was particularly impressive, I seem to recall his name was Chris Roberts. He spent time discussing various aspects of interest in the basement of the property. I learnt so much from him
I look at forward to my next visit.

An interesting place to visit. Not your typical stately home/country mansion. You would have to say a "work in progress". All of its treasures, furniture etc. were sold off long before it became the property of the National Trust.
R. G.
Nice place to visit, the little church was nice, we had a lovely walk around the lake and visited the house, we ran out of time to visit the rest but with being NT members we would go back and see the bits we missed. The only criticism is that there were no waste bins, we visited in a very hot day, the children had all had drinks etc and it would of been nice to have been able to bin our rubbish rather than carry it around but that's only a small criticism
J. D.
Doggy friendly & a lovely walk. Stunning in all the seasons. Been a firm favourite of ours since babes in pushchairs to teenagers having a catch up together.. oh heck we're getting older..😳
B. C.
If you like small bridges this is the place to visit with nice walks around Capability Brown designed garden and lake. The house is being restored. Maybe one day to some of its previous life and grandeur. RAF museum an interesting addition to the visit. Helpful guides & volunteers
B. A.
Very good. Unfortunately access to the 1st floor was not an option as they are working on it (they do not tell you this when you buy your tickets !!) hence only 4 stars. However the (Capability Brown) Park like gardens are amazing. When the house is fully restored, that too, will be amazing. £13 to get in was good value as you also get access to Defford RAF museum which whilst small, is well worth a visit.
D. H.
One of my favourite NT sites. It is popular with locals for the grounds that dogs are welcomed to roam in and for those who like a good hike. The house is stunning against the backdrop of rolling hills and one of most arresting views is where you exit the wooded area just beyond the entrance to the site.
The house is charming and holds many artworks that draw the eye and each have their own history. Croome has many stories where luck has played a part and I am glad we still have places like Croome available to visit today.
D. C.
Lovely grounds and house. It will be worth another visit once the book cases are installed. The RAF Defford museum is excellent.
N. 9.
Second visit to Croome ... Probably one of my favorite NT estates ... It's got everything and a very interesting museum ! ... So much to see and do ... Excellent for walking.
C. G.
Really enjoyed our first visit today. Would recommend the wonderful fresh air, rolling hills and beautiful architecture.
S. K.
Lovely couple of hours there plenty to look at including the house a lovely church and the RAF museum if you are a national trust member it's free if not still worth a look also on site shop and refreshments available
j. L.
Pity there is not more to look at inside as most of the contents had been sold off. The house could be so much more. We wondered around the house and grounds a couple of hours was enough but there is a lot of walking involved, they do run a small wagon up and back to the house if required, but the only way to see the grounds is walking.
S. B.
Beautiful place for walking and having a cuppa and something yo eat. The house is open, but only ground and lower floors at present. There isn't much to see ie furniture as I believe the N.T. are in the restoration process. The landscape is stunning with a breathtaking view from the church
M. R.
The view is amazing ! I expected rooms full of picturesque paintings and expensive furniture but when I read that everything was sold to Victoria and Albert museum in London and a museum in New York I was disappointed. I enjoyed the room full of decoration and porcelain plates.
T. B.
Croome house was not fully restored on our visit (march 22) and it's unclear when this will be completed.
So, if you aren't a NT member then bare that in mind. However, there is still plenty to see. The church and the grounds are of interest, as is the museum for the former RAF base on location.
C. A.
Lovely walks, we found the house a bit empty though, would have been very back in the day.
R. B.
Really beautiful place! The house was gorgeous, there was also an exhibition when I visited which was really lovely, and there are fields and forests to walk through. Unfortunately we weren't able to see everything when we went so we're looking forward to going back again
J. B.
Beautiful gardens and lively walk. Very friendly volunteers here! Plenty of opportunity to buy tea and cake with 3 different cafes
D. P.
The house is at present open on a limited scale. The little we saw was worth seeing. But the actual setting and the various walks around the grounds were in fact the best part of the day. While there is a signed one-way route around the grounds, which in itself affords splendid views of the estate, with wonderful floral displays in the meadowland, there are also other paths, around the river and beyond the house and walled garden. If one missed out the house and simply sought out the walks available one would have an experience well worth the visit. The church is worth a visit though not exceptionally interesting. Of course all that I have said regarding the walks requires good weather. I would not ,with hindsight ,consider Croome the most interesting of houses. But on a sunny day, or even just a dry one, the estate is worth a visit for the walking alone.r

Welcome break from the M5. We’ve taken to avoiding service stations and instead planning stops around National Trust properties such as Croome. The food is good - range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes and pasties accompanied by decent cake and a coffee. Really good walking here and some lovely views - after a stretch of the legs back in the car to enjoy the joys of the motorway.
G. B.
Large estate covering gardens, grassland, ponds, house and church. Quite long distances of walking between but golf buggy style assistance between the entrance and the house via church. Toilets available at the entrance and in the house, cafe also available at both places) although house cafe closed on the day of our visit. Interesting and informative talks from friendly and enthusiastic volunteers at various points. Large free car park. An enjoyable day out
P. H.
Really nice gardens, good walk around lake. Interesting building house is open but only basement and ground floor. Cafe is open for drinks and food.
D. W.
Beautiful walks, great for picnic and to give the kids some outdoor exercise. The views are amazing and the Capability Brown grounds are brilliant. Unfortunately the house, once magnificent, is in poor condition with little of interest inside, no furniture, paintings or artifacts and most of the house is closed to visitors.
Some interesting facts from the RAF Defford museum with well presented displays.
Great day out if you enjoy walking in the grounds and have an interest in trees (which really is good).
s. a.
No gardens and a long walk from the car park to the church,Court and greenhouse and back to the carpark, we walked approx 3 miles. The walled garden was closed and seemed to be on the private section of map. The walk is across fields which are cut so access is easy and a buggy can take people up to the house if you can't walk it but I believe it only takes 5 people at a time. The house has had many uses over the years and is basically empty of any original furniture or riches as it was sold off. Now houses some modern art exhibits but disappointing to be honest. The cafe at the actual Court was closed so make sure you have food and a drink at the car park cafe before starting the walk.
S. D.
Beautiful place to walk our dogs. Didn't go into the house but the grounds are huge with lovely wooded areas to walk too.
A. H.
Really nice walking down the hill from the church may be a bit steep for some but there's a golf type buggy that can take you down and back up if needed.
The view from the top is lovely a walk by the river have a picnic the house is very interesting grounds lovely too a really enjoyable day out was very busy but you can just take your time and go at your pace.
A nice walk with your doggy too
R. F.
A beautiful national trust, with many stunning pieces of history, vast grounds, and many useful facilities such as a playground, cafe, shop and visitor help facilities. Would 100% recommend!
J. K.
Another outstanding NT place, beautiful gardens and the trees are full of information if you care to seek them out… the house has a unconventional history and personally I loved that it was the World centre for Hare Krishna with Paul Harrison back in the 70’s.. the chapel is interesting too with it’s patriarchal depictions within… there’s WW2 exhibition and it’s just a enjoyable place to visit… lots of space and nature… with British history chucked in.. the Capability Brown story is incredible the scale of his works is breathtaking…
R. P.
Lovely place to visit. Delightful walk around a lovely old estate. Great church and huge house. A great way to spend an afternoon.
T. r.
A lovely place! There isn't much in the house, but it looks very grand. The lake is beautiful. There weren't many flowers this time.
D.
Hired a Tramper for the afternoon to walk around with grandchildren. The whole process was seamless from start to finish and the two ladies on reception should get a special mention; welcoming, helpful and full of smiles, they made it all so easy. The paths were good and extensive enough to give a sense of distance and also tire the little brats out. Shame about the dry conditions, poor water quality and Canada geese numbers.
Good cup of tea and lemon drizzle cake as well.
S. H.
Nice histrionic building with interesting history it needs a bit of T L C its had a hard life but the grounds are fantastic
M.
Great landscape and a good walk in the grounds the church was open , we went in the house but most of items like paintings and furniture were all missing being sold in the 1930’s so an empty house
M. S.
I must declare an interest as I volunteer here. It's a lovely place to visit with stunning views of Capability Brown's parkland. The House is short on furniture but big on charm and interest. At present there is a surfboard display which is proving very popular.
A. B.
Lovely walk in Croome, trees in blossom and just starting to see the bluebells. House is interesting for it's history.
A. S.
An interesting house that's survived a lot of changes down the years, set in Capability Brown's first commission. Plenty of space for a picnic, and with the added bonus of a small RAF museum attached. Well worth a visit.
J. C.
Standard national trust fair with the normal coffee shop ice cream and plant shop. Small playground for kids probably up to 8 years. Lots of space and accessible walks. There is a cool tree which you can get inside.
S. K.
Very interesting place. What you see today is a remodelled, extended, and clad version of the previous house. All done for the 6th Earl by "newbies" including Brown, later "Capability Brown". Not bad for a first effort. While the contents were sold off, you can see much of how it was and how the NT are working to restore it to former glories, they just need your MONEY!! They saved it from the developers and now they need support from us, the paying public. It's worth your support. We had a great day there 👍👍
S. K.
Perfect, we went on a really hot day & the kids played in the woodland playground in the shade. We then walked the parkland with plenty of shaded areas and benches. Great for a visit with plenty to explore.
A. B.
Such a relaxing and expansive estate to walk around. The archive in the main house was very interesting. Be prepared to walk! Don't worry if you may struggle as a shuttle is provided too.
R. E.
Very well set out and organised. Lovely parkland and river surroundings. Interesting house, and RAF museum.
Good cafe - love the NT sausage rolls! Good cake/s + drinks.
Tramper all-terrain mobility scooters free to hire/reserve in advance - very generous, esp. when many other sites make a charge.
Children's play area.
Good shop.
A. B.
Great for walks around the lake. Interesting building to explore. The cafe is in an old RAF building, best don't yo a museum about the role of the airfield in the Second World War.
E. K.
Stunning house & magnificent grounds by Capability Brown, his first landscaped estate. Lovely long walks & good cafe in what was RAF Defford on the periphery of the estate. One of the best NT properties we think.
M. A.
A national trust work in progress....restoring the landscaped parkland. The house is pretty empty of treasures having been all sold off in the 40s. Interesting because of that history and different to other properties because of it.
C. R.
We took our Granddaughter for a visit to the Park today. We just wanted to take her for a walk as she's only 2. We had a great time and stopped in the park for a picnic that we'd taken with us. We had a great time and stopped off in the restaurant for a coffee.
C. “. S.
Stunning views and walks, and that’s what you’re paying for.
The reason for not giving it 5 stars is that we didn’t find the house to be very authentic or that interesting.
Little tip:
If you have difficult walking then I’d suggest hiring an electric scooter for free (pre book before you go), as the grounds are quite big.
S. S.
First time back since 2019, bit confusing about the one way signs, but rain held off, lovely to see a field of daisies...not busy, had a nice sandwich and drink. Lovely day out.
D. S.
We enjoyed a long walk around the estate, taking in the house, the church, the rotunda, the river and the lake. There's also the RAF museum which was quite interesting.
J. J.
Nice place for a leisurely stroll with the camera, very extensive gardens which were relaxing and peaceful to walk around. Cafe onsite too as well as lots of perfect picnic spots
D. W.
Beautiful and picturesque National Trust property nestled against the backdrop of the Malvern Hills. There I'd so much to see at this site which makes so interesting and enjoyable to visit. As you enter the property there is the RAF Defford Museum which gives a very informative exhibition on RAF Defford and its use in WWII and the people that worked and the life they had there. The exhibition also details RAF Defford's use in The Cold War right up to its closure in 1958. There is a picturesque church on site where you enter and look at the wonderful decor inside. The walk around the site is excellent where you can take in the spectacular views of the Malvern Hills along the way and also take in the spectacular features such as the Rotunda, Dunstall Castle, Panorama Tower and Pirton Castle along with the Chinese Bridge, Island Pavilion and the Grotto and Sabrina. Be warned though Dunstall Castle, Panorama Tower and Pirton are situated some way off site and there is some walk to go to them but well worth it if you are up the walk and exercise. The House is beautiful and shows how far the National Trust have come with the development of the property with some rooms open at the start to now having two floors open with some very interesting and informative exhibitions and paintings and artefacts to marvel at. The staff on site are extremely welcoming and helpful. Overall this is a very pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable place to visit.
C. G.
Lots of walks in the grounds. The RAF museum is very interesting.
Unfortunately not all the house was open and only the café outside the entrance was open and it ran out of food.
G. P.
The house is interesting as much for what it doesn't have, as for what it does! The grounds and the 'eye-catchers' are superb. Good National Trust restaurant too.
J. M.
Dog friendly
Dogs can't go in the house
Fabulous grounds
D. H.
Taken here by friends when visiting them in Worcester. A really gem of a National Trust place this is. The house, still only part restored houses some interesting artefacts and history detail. The cafe is reliable as every NT cafe, toilets clean and the grounds surrounding the house are amazing. Acres to stroll around and although the car park is some way from the house a golf buggy shuttle runs to assist anyone needing it. An added bonus is some part restored bunkhouses that hold an interesting exhibition detailing the war years when the RAF were based there. All in all well worth seeking out and here in particular the volunteers were extremely friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
T. G. N.
National trust run large country mansion & grounds . Great walks around the expansive gardens & a house with an interesting history to explore.
A. “. G.
Lovely day out in fantastic surroundings. Many interesting areas from the aircraft museum to the splendid house. Highly recommended
C. B.
Really enjoyed the walk around the grounds. It was a beautiful autumn day. House clearly a work in progress, but interesting to see the structure behind the usual decorations. Hard to say whether it is better to preserve it as is or add decor or furniture that perhaps was never there in reality just to make it more visually appealing.
S. &. J. H.
Lovely location, car park is close to the entrance. Great walks and scenery, we brought our dog, and was able to let her off the lead over the bridge. I would say that they need to have a few more dog waste bins dotted around the path. Kids had a great time, definitely would recommend a visit.
P. S.
Absolutely brilliant, the staff are so friendly. The RAF museum is well worth visiting, the staff in the museum were based here during the war and told loads of fascinating stories about the top secret work they did with plane mounted Radar. The grounds are well looked after. The walk from the car park to the house is quite a walk but from 11 there are free shuttle buses.
D. W.
Lovely National Trust house interesting although not furnished. Capability Brown's landscaped gardens are the jewel especially spring & Autumn. Also lovely walks & superb views of the Malvern Hills. Museum area at entrance fascinating & well curated War information. Great day out well worth a visit. Two cafes one in House & one st entrance.
l. m.
Best National Trust place I've been to so far. So much more for the kids too which always helps. Beautiful grounds, gardens, museums, church, house, river, play area x2 (look out for the hidden painted stones) and excellent cafes. Staff were wonderful, very knowledgeable and happy to help. It's a great place to walk and explore. We spent about 4hours here and missed some bits. Lovely day out, highly recommended for history fact finding and family time!
J. L.
Really enjoyed visit. Sad that house not able to be fully presented yet but staff very helpful and knowledgable. Gounds and church fantastic. Eell worth a visit. Will return
M. H.
One of the best National Trust parklands I have visited. It is reasonably priced and the walks are pretty. There are good facilities including a cafe & children's playground. It used to be an RAF Base and has an interesting military history which is explained in a museum. This was capability Brown's first project and they have done a great job of restoring it so far.
M. M.
I love this place because not only do you have beautiful grounds to walk around, you have the cultural aspect of military history and the Mansion itself. The RAF museum gives a fascinating insight into the top secret work carried out her with the RAF in developing airborne radar and automatic landing systems. The Mansion is rather different to other NT properties as instead of being furnished, the rooms are given over to various artistic exhibitions; perhaps the most popular currently being the "Grayson Perry" Tapestries.
I must also commend the NT for producing an excellent free short guide with well presented map to help you navigate the site.
Easy to spend 4 or 5 hours here if you're going to explore the grounds, museum and mansion; and an ideal place to bring a picnic.
Great views from the Rotunda directly West to the line of the Malvern Hills.
T. D.
Lovely walks and grounds but stupid restrictions for dog owners. Should learn from Nottingham City Council how to run a stately home i.e. WollatonHall.
C. S.
Gorgeous grounds, so well kept. Lovely walks around the house, lake and visiting the folly' s dotted around. The museum is full of interesting artefacts from the old RAF base. Kids playground is great and the shop is lovely. We visited late afternoon (oct) so the views were just golden.
A. P.
What a fantastic National Trust place. Seeped in history, I think it's better that it hasn't been fully renovated. Tells a very moving story. Fantastic gardens and parklands, a place you must visit
J. B.
This is a great place, lovely grounds. The main house is grand, only draw back is that before the Trust got hold of it the majority of the furniture had been sold.
The grounds include a lake, a rotunda, bridges, a grotto and a church (there is more!).
It has a couple of cafes, a shop as well as a second hand book shop.
Also it was an air base in WW II, so has an RAF museum; that shows what the WAAF did on the site.
Well worth a visit.
There is a walked garden, which was not open the day I visited; which costs extra to go in as it is privately owned.
G. J.
This is a property that does not know where it belongs.
It has been used for a number of different purposes and the National Trust do not seem to know how to "dress" the house.
There are plenty of empty rooms and you are left to your own imagination.
Worth a visit though.
Cafe was great.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
C. W.
Spent a cold but sunny day here, great for children as there is plenty of outside space to run around & explore. For the less able there was a motorised buggy giving lifts around the grounds. The house was interesting with various artistic exhibits, just a shame a lot of the rooms felt empty as there isn't much of the old furniture to see.
P. K.
The site was very interesting and the volunteers were exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. As with all national trust sites. The buggy transport to the house from the gates was terrific for my partner who is disabled. The only criticism I have is that the manager of the site took it upon himself to block off 7 disabled parking spots so a coach could park there for hours waiting for his passengers. When it was pointed out that was not right his answer was to threaten to remove the disabled parking spots altogether. While I understand that coaches need somewhere to park I fail to understand why they have to block 7 disabled parking spots all day. Very disappointing.

We rejoined the National Trust recently and our first port of call so to speak was Croome Park. We have visited here several times in the past and enjoyed our visits and today was no exception plenty of walking in glorious scenery. The only criticism I have was the rather impolite and unfriendly staff at reception. No Good morning, no welcome to Croome Park, no is this your first visit?, no maps offered and no enjoy your visit. Shame the women couldn't be a little more friendly and professional. Nevertheless the park its self is well worth a visit.

This is a fantastic day out for the family. No way can you fit everything in in one day. Amazing house to visit. There is the "Soul to Sole" exhibition. Probably my favourite part. There was scaffolding around the house. But this was not an issue. The scaffolders are working with the public and you can climb the scaffold stairs to the top level. The views are fantastic up there. A beautiful church mid grounds to visit. Gorgeous grounds to explore. Brilliant play area for kids. My little boy gave it a double thumbs up. We have been twice and plan to go plenty more times. We loved it.
a. t.
Beautiful house with amazing diverse history and real sense of going back in time. Thoughtfully restored together with many stunning outbuildings. Many enjoyable walks around the estate with lovely woodlands and views of the Malverns. We sat by the lake for a picnic with the swans for company. Much has changed in the last six years. Very relaxing spot and much loved.
D. T.
Brilliant place for walks, kids, dogs etc. The house is still being restored so if you're looking for history, ask to see the top floor where they're keeping the furniture - the staff really know their history about it all. Didn't get the chance to see the RAF Museum but will be returning to do so.
J. M.
Brilliant place to visit. The house itself is amazing. Alot of parkland to explore too and the raf museum is interesting. The walled gardens arent national trust so they are £5 per adult to enter but you get hot and cold drinks, biscuits and ice cream included so definately worth it.
K. E.
Love it, members so free entry, a great walk with or without the dog/s. Great coffee in the court and good art exhibitions. Will definitely visit again in the summer when a bit better underfoot in places.

Croome is beautiful. The grounds are just lovely, so much space to walk around & explore. We love to play hide & seek with the children, see the ducks & swans & run through the long grasses. You can buy tasty local ice cream from the cafés. There are two good playgrounds & plenty of picnic spots. And the staff are so friendly! Lovely place to visit.
M. H.
Lovely grounds, great panoramic views, a delightful place and great coffee and cake.
W. K.
National Trust Croome is worth a visit, nice country park and house, plenty of tea rooms, not a lot to see in the house, you also have RAF DEFFORD included and a lot of parkland to explore
K. C.
Amazing experience, beautiful surroundings. I would strongly recommend taking one of the guided tours - you get to see far more and educated at the same time. RAF museum small but well worth a visit!!
T. T.
We just love Croome. We have visited the property several times now, and each time we enjoy it more. There are various walks to enjoy, each with a slight change in scenery.
Perfect for long or short dog walks.
N. L.
Friendly helpful staff , an interesting RAF museum , a cafè with nice food (great cakes) , large natural looking landscaped grounds (Lancelot Brown) with interesting features & a beautiful Chinese styled bridge , a church & a fantastic looking house which may be fairly bereft of furnishings but is full of character & history .
Definitely worth going to for the day .
J. T.
Fabulous place to visit. Amazing volunteers who go out of their way to make you welcome. They are extremely informative and cover so many aspects.
The RAF museum is amazing and covers the development of airborne radar during WW2.
Thanks to all who made our visit so memorable.
M. M.
Nice garden but wish they would open the houses, even if they said we couldn't touch anything
L. C.
Very nice! Extremely polite and helpful staff, sweet, amuzing ducks 🙂, the best scones we've ever had 🙂
B. M.
Brilliant on a sunny day. Large area to walk around with lots of interesting things to see on the way. Speaks volumes that I keep coming back and would like to visit again.
G. C.
Fabulous visit. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day. Massive amount of space. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. My husband lost his phone and the staff went into overdrive until it was found. Thank you.
R. F.
Car park attendants were very helpful when concerned that the muddy parking area might be a problem for my sports car. Friendly, smiley people at Reception desk. Great walks to the big house which is set in hundreds of acres of parkland, pastures and lakes. The church on the hill is a wonderful sight. History of the Coventry family very interesting. The wartime story of the RAF airfield only adds to the allure of this special place.
Tea shop in the basement of the house is welcoming and not far from toilets.
P. T.
Nice place to take the family and dogs. Great facilities and cafes plus play areas.
Only bit I would have liked is a cafe or drinks hut at the house as all facilities are only at the entrance to the park. A more nice to have than a criticise.
S. E.
Great for walking round the grounds and the beautiful man made lake or just sitting on one of the deck chairs relaxing and admiring the view, the house is largely devoid of furniture but they hold different artistic relatated exhibitions throughout the year.
P. F.
Impressive Palladian style house but the grounds landscaped by Capability Brown at his best are truly eye catching. What appears to be a river running through the Parkland is in fact a man made lake and forms the centre piece of remarkable scenic beauty. Allow 90 mins to cover the whole parkland and then add on some more if you wish to linger and explore the many curiosities dotted along the routes. Landscape photographers can have a field day by visiting on a clear day when the afternoon sun will play tricks with light and shadow with the Malvern Hills forming a distant backdrop.
D. T.
Lovely Church, great walks. Very Dog friendly. The stuff in the house was very wired. Not what I expected from the national trust. RAF derford museum very informative great unknown history.
N. R.
Lovely visit. Great place to take the dog. House had some interesting exhibits.
The grounds are gorgeous.
A. C.
Lovely area for walking and taking dogs, the buildings are beautiful and add character to an already charismatic walk. There is an abundance of wildlife ranging from cows, to deer to swans and geese. There is a footpath that surrounds the park that doesn't require national trust pass. The entrance is located just down the road from the main entrance and carpark
T. H.
This is a lovely trust site with plenty to see. There is plenty to do for everyone of all ages. The parking was busy but the staff were very good at managing the traffic. You could very easily spend a day here.
J. G.
Very nice walk today and there was a shop with hot snacks and you could grab a tea or coffee to go I'm guessing thats open just on weekends I'm not sure definitely needed on a brisk cold day like today.
k. R.
Lovely place to walk around. Allows dogs. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking.
E. l.
Lovely place. There's a little RAF museum which was small but interesting. The house itself is a 10 minute walk down a hill but there is a 5 person shuttle operating regularly. The house itself is pretty bare but there's plenty to look at in the architecture and history of the place. The grounds are beautiful. Overall, well worth a visit
M. D.
Lovely well kept park gardens. Large cafe shop and toilets on arrival. This is in the former med center for RAF Defford. There is a small museum about this but unless your a geek it won't interest you tbh. Lots of early radar etc, not suitable for the majority of children.
I did not enter the house but wife said it was ok but lots of the rooms are empty or virtually empty.
Lots of parking, dogs very welcome with water bowls and poo bags available.
Lots of benches, deck chairs a good day out.
J. S.
More people should be members so as to have many more site saved from redevelopment or lost. Our go to afternoon walk as it on our doorstep.
J. S.
Grounds, house, church, RAF musuem, lots to see and do at Crooner.
Large cafe with outdoor seating.
Golf carts are provided to chauffeur you from the entrance to the house and other areas.
J. D.
We absolutely loved this NT property. The buggy rides up and down through grounds landscaped by Capability Brown were most welcome
The house is really unusual in that it is not furnished but represents three centuries of diverse occupation.
This was our second visit and we intend to return!
C. W.
This place is fantastic. Its being renovated so it was good to see it before. The grounds are big and plenty to see it was a very enjoyable visit.
G. F.
Plenty of buildings and loads of open space to explore. Friendly and helpful staff. Handy lift available for less able and pick up for the longer distances.
M. P.
Nice space for walks and to generally look around on a regular basis. Excellent cafe but slow queues when busy. RAF Museum is very interesting.
S. M.
Very enjoyable day out. We were greeted on entry by a cheerful Guide who showed us the map and explained easily were everything was (and how long it would take). Although the house is not furnished there were plenty of rooms to see. We were fortunate that we arrived on a day when 'The Old Boys' were doing tours of the house and explaining how it was when it was a boarding school run by nuns. Their tales were interesting if not a little sad. Having said that they had a great sense of humour. We visited the coffee house in the basement and although a pot of tea for one is £2 a pot for two is only £2.20.
The parkland is vast and a walk over the Chinese Bridge to the lake is a lovely walk.
The RAF Museum is very interesting and modern in its presentation (not at all like a stuffy museum). It was fascinating to learn of its importance during the war and its vital role in testing flight radar. We also enjoyed talking to the Guide in the ambulance garage where the Canberra cockpit is on display. We were there for 5 hours and ran out of time to see inside the church or visit the bird hide. Looks like we'll just have to make another visit!
L. H.
Great day out. RAF museum worth a look when visiting. Always enjoy a walk round the grounds. Stood watching a heron on the bridge.
I. H. (. W. T. G.
A real gem. So much to do here, from an excellent cafe, interesting wartime history and jaw dropping Capability Brown gardens with a river meandering through. In good weather you’ll be spoilt for choice rambling through the vast estate, maybe picnicking under a weeping willow.
The house is slowly being restored after going to rack and ruin under a succession of previous owners who sold all of the fixtures and fittings. With no original furniture the National Trust is putting the rooms to interesting and often contemporary use. One room had a selection of Grayson Perry tapestries which was an unexpected pleasure.
S. k.
Interesting house and gardens. House is quite a trek from the car park, but the views are good and they provide a shuttle service. Well worth spending some time in the RAF museum too.
S. M.
The grounds are fantastic and very pleasant to walk around , they even have deck chairs dotted about the lake area so you watch the world go by. The house is stunning in design but as it has been to let go inside some of the rooms are bare. They have got a few art type galleries in some of the rooms. The RAF display are worth a veiwing.
R. V.
Amazing place to visit, the house wasn't anything special but the grounds are spectacular and there's loads of walking and exploring to be done
R. E.
Great views and a good walking site. The house is also great there's a surfing exhibit at moment of writing this.
P. D.
Nation Trust House and grounds with a museum about the time it was an airfield. Enjoyed this trip because both sites had a lot of interest. Long walk to the house but electric buggies help including wheel chairs.
N. W.
Expect the unexpected is the strap line. And it completely is. This house is fascinating because it is unfurnished and bears all the ghosting of its past owners' alterations, including a 90's property developer. The artistic installations which tell croome's story are engaging and every room is a surprise.
G. L.
Although the house was closed due to covid, it is well worth the visit.
The grounds are wonderful, over looking the Malvern hills.
Very peaceful and easily accessible for most people.
Highly recommended
W. E.
Fantastic place - beautiful grounds - friendly and helpful staff and volunteers. Highly recommended for a day out, especially on a nice sunny day.
M. S.
This place is a little gem. Museum on site lovely big house superb grounds. Café toilets and parking.
M. H.
Great day out for all the family with beautiful walks and a cup of tea and a slice of cake yum yum.....
M. S.
The last thing you expect to see at a Worcestershire National Trust house is a collection of surfboards!!
The son of the 11th Earl of Coventry (last owners of Croome Court ) Ted Deerhurst was Britains first professional surfer and his life is told along with a fine collection of surfboards which he either designed, made or used. Well worth a visit.
M. M.
The grounds were a pleasure to walk round but the house I understand is not owned but leased buy the trust needs a lot of work to restore it. Only pictures showing what the rooms looked like before but mostly bare.
K. C.
Nice building and will be better when all items unpacked and located. Grounds and walks superb. Catering excellent
C. S.
Loved it beautiful gardens a lot of walking to see things but worth it.
j. d.
Lovely historic property in a scenic landscape garden. Great for a pleasant stroll or walking the dog. Nice cakes and lunches on offer.
M. T.
Beautiful house and stunning gardens. Lots to explore and plenty for all the family to enjoy.
One of our favourite places to visit. Highly recommend to bring a picnic to make the most of the stunning views x
J. C.
Fantastic, grounds are huge (as you'd expect for Capability Brown) and the house is interesting. It'll be nice to go back in a few years when they finish the work on the house, but there was enough there for a very pleasant day out - especially when you consider the small RAF museum near the entrance.
The landscape is dotted with follies, and the walled garden opens in 2018. I for one will certainly be back here in the future.
C. P.
Good day out with lots to see. Interesting RAF museum. House currently under restoration. Lots of grounds to walk.
C. W.
Not a lot here compared with other NT places. Mostly exhibitions. Interesting history. Lovely grounds.
B. B.
Beautiful Capability Brown landscape. Interesting partly restored house. Nice museum explaining the impact of RAF Defford. Lots to see and do for an afternoon.
S. C.
It was the first time at Croome court and it was a lovely experience. Wide open spaces, ideal for children, plus a play area. Dog friendly and places to eat. A lovely gift shop and the R.A.F museum was very interesting . Only scratched the surface today but will definitely be returning.
a. k.
Lovely place to visit
Great views
RAF museum on sites
Picnic around the lake
P. H.
Lovely historic building the grounds are beautiful very nice day out
N. H.
Lovely place to visit can take dogs .very large grounds .shuttle service runs from 10 to 1600
S. H.
Beautiful place to visit with lovely walks not to strenuous either, the house was partially open so didn't see all the house but was still stunning. We spent approximately 4hrs here and will definitely return. The staff are an absolute credit to the national trust amazing knowledge and made us feel welcome
M. E.
Beautiful site with open fields and picturesque views. The house was a bit odd and a mixture of different looks from different periods of occupation, but still interesting.
C. C.
Had such a wonderful time here today. I would 100% recommend someone to come visit. Beautiful place.
S. L.
Great place, very scenic. Nice walk through gardens, great parks for the children. A few fairly steep hills but there is a cart down to the house.
P. H.
Only a short visit to have a leg strech ans picnic while on route from holiday. Looks a lovely place and will try call again for a full visit when we can.
S. T.
A beautiful place for a walk and explore with an stunning property. We'll worth a visit.
A. R.
We were fortunate to visit Croome Court, on one of their Heritage Opening Days, so entrance to the Hall, and Parkland, was free. There was also an exhibition on, which was another bonus, as it was excellent, as well as free. The Museum is very interesting too, especially for my 87 year old father, who was obviously a war child himself, and had a nice chat, with the very friendly, elderly gentleman, who certainly knows his stuff. The Parkland is also fantastic, with lots of different places to see and there's a cafe, in the main building too. It was a great afternoon out, a day to remember, very special too. That's why we totally recommend visiting the area if you get the opportunity to go.
N. M.
Great visit to Croome Park today. Enjoyed coffee and lunch in the cafe, had a lovely walk round the grounds and visited the house, enjoying the amazing Grayson Perry tapestries.
A. S.
Was a really beautiful house, I'd wait a little while before visiting again as many of the returned treasures and things to view in the house are still in boxes. Was extremely busy and popular. Beautiful, easily accessible long walks.
J. V.
A large portion of the contents of the house (£12.00 entry to house and gardens for non Trust members) were boxed up with some of the contents currently on display at the V&A Museum. Otherwise a beautiful property with plenty to see and do. Gardens and surrounding landscape are stunning and the RAF museum is worth a visit.
D. M.
Beautiful location and grounds with friendly staff. We had a very bracing walk around the lake followed by an interesting wander around the ground floor of the house. Interesting to see a property in its restoration phase. Can't comment on the museum as didn't have time to visit.
S. B.
Lovley place to visit.. Beautiful surroundings.. Only 1 floor of the house open though.. Still worth a visit though.
P. R.
Great place to visit, house a little tired like most NT places, museum small but volunteers very informative, lovely long walks, lots of seating in cafe area, many places for a picnic in the grounds
J. M.
I great place to visit. Lovely gardens. We need another visit at least to see the rest.
D. F.
Interesting country house and estate. RAF Desford museum on site is full of information and friendly volunteers. As usual cafe at National Trust premises very basic and lacking much inviting fayre.
G. E.
Lovely estate with lots to do for families. You would need a whole day to explore the complete estate. Play area is nice and cafe served lovely food although quite busy.
C. d. H.
An exploratory visit to get a feel for the place. Dramatic setting, wonderful house.
Grayson Perry landscapes a must, very insightful reflections on modern society and its many built in inequalities.
Wonderful views of the Capability Brown landscape gardens. Definitely going back for a day out.
Enjoy, Christiaan 👍🙂😊
j. k.
Walk around parkland is fine but absolutely nothing interesting in almost empty house
D. C.
Lots of great walks and really nice lunch
A. H.
Fabulous autumn walks through gardens and grounds will need to return to visit house as to much to see. Fully recommend
M. C.
A great day out, had a great walk around the grounds and got a chance to visit the house which I've never done before. The exhibitions inside the house were fantastic.
D. C.
Visited the grounds and house at the beginning of December and had a lovely tour of the upper floor of the house (thank you Adrian, you are a very interesting guide). There are lots of new things coming up and we look forward to visiting again soon.
S. W.
Its an amazing place to visit, the staff are welcoming and really helpful, they gave us a tour around the house and explained the history of the installations, the artwork is amazing!!!!
The car park is easily accessible and the food in the canteen is alright, All in all its a great place to have a day out with the family!
A. Â.
The landscaped park is breathtakingly beautiful. Take a picnic. We whizzed around the house as it's a bit of a shell but there was an informative film about the history of the house.
b. p.
The Mary Magdalene church holds the most majestic views of the sun setting. It's one of the most enriching walks one could take.
T. T.
A lovelly place for walking. Interesting house but the star is the wider estate and trails some of which are suitable for wheelchairs.
S. W.
Great day out, good facilities, walks, museum, house, picnic areas and deck chairs
L. P.
Wow...beautiful. what am amazing place to visit. Informative. Interesting history. Picturesque. Even in winter views and walks a must do and see.
I. L.
Large grounds to walk round with lots of nice views. House a bit disappointing with only ground floor and basement open to public with a lot of stuff in crates waiting to be unpacked
D. H.
It was a very nice day the view around are beautiful and the staff was very friendly and good xxxx
L. R.
Lovely walk around and great grounds. Such great scenery here
S. O.
Fantastic place, very child/baby/toddler friendly and loads to do. We will be going back soon as we didn't manage to fit everything in, recommend people take a buggy for toddlers as there is lots of walking
M. D.
Friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful surrounds and a treat to enjoy for all ages
S. H.
Was a bit disappointed as there was no furniture displayed because it had been sold off to pay debts but other than that it was very nice
j. w.
Always a Pleasure to visit here. Came up for fathers day for the Grayson Perry exhibition. Amazing.
P. F.
Good value for money. Very enjoyable visit. Volunteers very friendly and eager to pass on their knowledge. A lot of walking, but their is a shuttle service if you have mobility issues. Great cafe and vast picnic areas. Well worth a visit.
C. C.
Had a brilliant day today for our visit to Croome Court. We were offered a tour of the house by an extremely knowledgeable and personable guide named Chris.Since it was unplanned it registered with myself , my husband and my daughter as a thoroughly fascinating insight in to the many stories associated with the history of the property and the grounds. Narrated in such a way as to keep our attention and feed us with interesting tales that made addictive listening. Definitely a man that loves his knowledge and should be recognised for his passion in his work. We were also accompanied by a prospective volunteer, who was also a gem in the making. We had the best day as a result of these two!
J. T.
It's a nice spot to stop off at but we wouldn't go out of our way to go here again.
Accepts dogs on lead and has a field that they can have a run around.
Cafe was a bit slow and cake selection not amazing.
C. G.
Large area to walk and discover hidden Croome gems such as seating area at top of river and grotto. Has large cafe. Small play area. Dog friendly. Possibility of exploring surrounding area if more time
S. B.
beautiful grounds, house and church. lots to do. great walks. National Trust guides very informative.
T. M.
Lovely day out, been a few times, plenty of walking space
T. P.
Really interesting place to visit - and lovely grounds too.
M. B.
Great family day out lots to do and lively grounds to walk your dog
T. J.
Absolutely beautiful place! Can't fault it. Love the range of wildlife you see from colourful dragonflies to Canadian geese! Lovely walk to see the eyesights! Loads to do for all the family would highly recommend. Including the ice cream!
J. S.
Lovely place. Plenty of grass to play games and picnic. Decent play area for up to 12 years. Deckchairs for sitting. Benches for picnics, long walks available too.
L. G.
Lovely time spent here.
V. H.
One thing let's this place down is the tea room in the house is not open, due to no staff! Luckily the cafe at the entrance is and is very busy.
A. B.
Perfect for walks or a picnic. Dogs are welcome. There is a playground for the kids and a museum for the adults. The whole park is well looked after.
J. J.
Lovely scenic walks!! Thoroughly enjoyed it
B. J.
Fantastic garden, dog walk, family pick-nick
B. A.
What a gem of a place. Staff outstanding, friendly gentleman in the ticket van and the lady at the entrance. Stunning grounds include lake and river walk. Magnificent interesting buildings with a quirky history to include George Harrison and Hari Krishna to the secret military base in WW2. Good food available at the cafe with large seating area. Military Museum. Truly cannot fault the place. Will visit again and again....
E. C.
Hi 😊 Great place for a walk ☺️ and I felt safe there 😃 in
M. H.
Wonderful views from top of the hill over parkland. Took relative in wheelchair walked down by the lake and through trees.visited the church too. Had a very nice day out. Take a picnic and make use of the buggy that will transport you back up the hill if difficulty walking. Will visit here again
E. J.
There is a lot to learn about here. I learned a lot about things I did not realise were related to Croome.
R. Y.
Lovely place for a walk with great views and a nice tea shop at the end
P. G.
Came across this property by accident but worth it for the grounds and walks. Not much to see in the house as being renovated but on a sunny day like today really spectacular walks
J. U.
Absolutely beautiful grounds. So peaceful. Well done National Trust for the upkeep of our heritage 😁
S. P.
Absolutely stunning place, could easily spend a day here, though for us it was just for quick bite to eat and a leg stretch to break up a long car journey.
C. C.

P. M.
Lovely grounds. House was being renovated when we were there, will be back though
G. F.
Very interesting house and grounds. It made us want to join tge NT which we did.
S. W.
We spent a few hours walking round and visiting the house. Lovely place to visit although I was disappointed that the house wasn't furnished but as the NT has only had this property for 10 years perhaps this will be addressed in the future.
The grounds are beautiful with some lovely walks although it was quite cold and windy on the day we were there. Really looking forward to going again with a picnic when the weather warms up a bit.
N. C.
Lovely place with lots to do and see, great walks around the estate, sadly when we went the house was closed due to storm damage, hope the repairs were not to expensive, looking forward to our next visit.
Y. D.
Lovely walks, ìnteresting place, starting to get back some of the fittings
e. s.
Staff friendly, wide variety of interesting things to do
L. G.
Live local and nether been before. What a beautiful place. Went with my partner and 2 year old girl. We were walking down and saw one of the golf kart type cars giving lifts. The driver " Dave"waved back at my daughter and stopped for us and gave us a lift. Although it was getting on they let us in and let us walk around, so thank-you!Just like to thank all the staff for your friendly manner and especially Dave, you made my daughters day and its people like you that the world deserves! Give that man a pay rise!....
These tiny gestures, taking a few minutes of your time out your day to please one individual, a 2 year old, at the end of your shift, with a massive smile. Melted our hearts. Thank you so much. Great day !!!!!
G. J.
This place is amazing! Highly recommend it. Great for kids, dogs, grandparents, everyone!
M.
Nice gardens good for walks house being restored
D. J.
One of the best NT properties in the area for lovely walks - several miles beside the artificial river, lake and surrounding landscape. The house also has a very interesting history.
P. B.
The house is being used in a really creative way, and the parkland is glorious. The added secret history of the RAF station adds further interest.
V. B.
The staff and volunteers were very friendly & helpful. I walked around the lake and up to the house which was a lot further than I thought it was but I enjoyed it due to it being such a beautiful day. The shuttle bus is a great idea for those with mobility issues. The house was spectacular - there were various exhibitions on which were very interesting. The house is being repaired in places but I think that is a great testament to the work the NT do for these properties. The grounds are well kept, the RAF museum is very small but still interesting. The Autumn excess produce was available to try which was great for my children. Overall a great day out & we will be back as we never got to the castle just up from the house!
J. A.
Beautiful view of the malverns. Nice bird hide a decent play area for little ones
S. W.
It was very well organised. One way system and felt safe. It was lovely to be out in a different fresh air.
M. E.
Interesting place. House not decorated but enough to see and volunteers knowledgeable. Lovely well kept grounds to walk round. RAF exhibition, well worth a visit.
B. P.
Beautiful grounds and great Lost Airfield exhibition with bonus of wonderful temporary embroidery display.
J. B.
Beautiful walks: stunning views
S. C.
Wonderful place to walk around and feel the atmosphere. So many enthusiastic people telling us all about the place. Great cafe as well!
M. C.
Great that the NT stop these places going to rack and ruin. Pleasant and informative staff
L. L.
Wonderful place to explore with plentiful grounds for a picnic.
M. W.
My favourite National Trust place !
We always stop at the Church and have a chat with Malcolm, he is a lovely gent, who next year will have worked at Croome for 70 years !! What an achievement, well done Malcolm !!
J. M.
Really lovely house and gardens. Had a wonderful walk through the grounds seeing many of the buildings dotted throughout them. The house has a varied history which is shown well through the displays in the different rooms. Both the cafe and the tea room were warm and welcoming. Lunch was delicious and reasonably priced. Tea and cake was heavenly. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
T. R.
Beautiful surroundings and we'll managed estate. Great for walking and finding out more about the history and family.
J. D.
Beautiful parkland, house and gardens, can't wait to return in the spring and wander some more, super friendly and helpful staff, really looking forward to a return trip!
K. Y.
Nice house to visit and very good landscapes
B. H.
Wonderful building and stunning gardens. It's not going to be for everyone, but if you want something to do on a nice day it's lovely. I went on a warm day where you literally couldn't stay outside for more than an hour so being in the cool indoors was ideal. It's worth noting that the gardens are also accepting of dogs - on leads admittedly - so you can take your four legged friend with you if you're having a day out!
M. C.
This is a fantastic National Trust property with an amazing history.
The parkland is brilliant for walking around and there are paths to suit all ages.
The playground is ideal for kids and is very well maintained and equipped.
There is a good coffee shop that serves a decent cup of coffee.
The RAF Museum here is well worth a visit too.
All in all, a fabulous place!
G. U.
Beautiful gardens & house lovely walk with the dogs
H. E.
Fascinating history in the house and beautiful landscaping by Capability Brown.
P. B.
Excellent rolling landscape Capability Brown view from just past the church, the house is a bit hit and miss with changing installations but when it's a hit it's a real hit! The cafe is well organised thankfully serving well made sausage rolls and pasties, the cafe in the main house is not always open so be sure to plan your refuel. You can tell this is a really well run Trust.
g.
Good place to Explore. Wall gardens closed at the moment. One way system you can walk all around in about 2.5hrs. Nice lake and bridges around the Lake. Few nice spots like grotto and rotunda. When there is a good weather views over Malvern Hills.
J. S.
Lovely landscaped grounds designed by Capability Brown for you to walk around. Some paths are made up to make getting around easier, long steep slope down from the church which is a challenge with a wheelchair but worth the effort. Lots of statues to be found, and interesting range of wildlife as well. Other walks that can be done that take you away from the crowds. House has lots of displays and there is a café near visitor centre and in the house basement where toilets can be found as well. The war time building was very interesting. Free for National trust members but otherwise quite expensive as only really grounds to walk around.
K. L.
Visited on a slightly rainy Friday afternoon with my toddler and baby. Enjoyed a walk around the beautiful grounds which were perfectly accessible for a buggy. Toddler loved exploring the grounds and enjoyed the park. We had cream teas in the cafe- plentiful seating inside and outside, although slight wasp issue outside.
D. F.
Excellent NT property well worth a visit lots of WW2 history used by RAF for training and secret radar and wireless technology. House is devoid of it's original furniture and paintings but it still has it's own charm.
Lovely walks around grounds great Japanese bridge for photographs etc over the the river feeding the lake. Swans Herons etc to see. Restaurant good as are facilities.
A. P.
House has been improved, good displays. Knowledgeable guides.
M. F.
Croome is a beautiful location and a great place to visit. Unfortunately due to the lock down, the house is closed and the restaurant is only open for the take away of drinks and snacks. But it is still a lovely area to see and walk around. Once lockdown is over, it will be even better with the house, shop and cafes fully open along with all the activities and attractions.
C. S.
Great place to go for a walk with the dog or kids. Nice big lake and parkland dotted with orangeries and sculptures and tea room near the car park. Not the most ornamental or formal of gardens and comparatively sparsely planted with mainly trees and scrubby shrubs. The house is also comparatively sparse but interesting. They were using it as a gallery space for art when we visited this time.
t. s.
Lovely day at croome, snow on the hills and just to see the plants and flowers waking up. Just a slight thought. Abandon the one way system around the grounds. Creates more bottlenecks in some areas. Still love the place and the views of the hills. Lovely walk for my wife and I and Skye our dog. Thank you.
J. S.
A truely wonderful place. Recharge my batteries by wandering around the gardens. So peaceful
D. F.
A great place to have a wander around some interesting buildings and very knowledgeable members of staff also a good walk around the grounds is recommended.
l. p.
Great day out for all the family especially when the sun is shining
K. H.
Croome is my spiritual home, I love it, the scenery, the house, the history, the follies, the wildlife, the people, the food, all of it is fantastic!
B. P.
RAF Museum is great; walks around the grounds awesome. We enjoyed the house, but you need to be aware the property has almost no furniture and has only been made safe and water tight so it may not appeal to some, but we enjoyed it and our tour was enhanced with various exhibitions around the house.
L. R.
Excellent. Wonderful peaceful place. Lovely walks .A great way to relax. It was extremely well organised and very safe.Always love going there.. and you can take dogs.
P. A.
Great day out, plenty for adults and kids
N. H.
Very interesting setup, as the house is devoid of most of its furnishings the objects that are displayed become the centrepiece. RAF museum fascinating, but you perhaps need a general interest to get the most out of it. Parkland great to enjoy on a walk and a picnic. Great children's play area. We intended to only stay for a morning but spent most of the day here.
M. W.
Wonderful day at Croome.Don't hesitate,GO.
S. M.
Fine national trust parkland and arboretum. Not so sure about the house.
W. A.
Loads of long walks. The house was disappointing though. Full of unpacked boxes
M. N.
Looks fascinating - arrived too late to do all we wanted so opted for a walk around the grounds. Need to go back to look at the museum
c. l.
Interesting country house with lots of history. Great walks with panoramic views.
K. W.
Lovely Capability Brown gardens and lake with views to the Malverns
C. J.
Beautiful day out... Stunning grounds! Plenty of fun for the kids too! 😊
B. R.
Lovely place to visit and walk around. Good cafe with selection of snacks snd cream teas
D. L.
Splendid park land and house. Had a great family day out. The gardens and park land are simply stunning and big enough to find space even on the busiest of days. There is also a fun playground and natural play area for the little ones, which should keep them entertained. The estate has a really interesting history and in the not to distant past was the home some of the early radar trials. The estate was also used by the Krishnar movement and had links to George Harrison.
B. P.
Beautiful grounds but sad to see the house so empty
P. H.
Go once or twice a year . Usually for the excellent, beautiful walks. The estate is stunning, and lovely views of the Malvern Hills.
The house ,the church, and follies
are externally what you expect, but internally not. So are used for exhibitions of all sorts.
The various ones today were all very ,very good.
I've been deliberately vague, because I want you to go and see for yourself.
Enjoy your tea and cake as well.
Staff were brilliant.
C. H.
House being renovated. Good grounds. Large cafe. Good size car park.
R. M.
Beautiful Capability Brown landscape, and lovely architectural details by Robert Adams. The grounds are a treat to walk in. The house is still being renovated and, despite some interesting art installations, not a property to visit if you're looking for a fully-kitted out stately home. Friendly staff and a couple of good cafés. Dog-friendly in grounds. Also an RAF museum on site, which I didn't visit.
F. P.
Partly preserved rather than fully restored and all the better for it. Very extensive grounds with interesting lakes and paths. The house is atmospheric with quaint evidence of its previous owners and a visit is immeasurably enhanced by the volunteer staff who are a delight. It also shows good evidence of its link with wartime RAF occupation especially in the excellent museum and canteen. Good access from the M5. It also, sometimes, shows evidence of the "disneyfication" inflicted upon it by the National Trust.
J. N.
Very interesting house
Huge gardens
M. W. (.
It's OK, extensive parkland, and while the house is huge and impressive structurally, it's pretty much empty. There is an interesting history to this, but it's easy to see everything on one visit. I prefer the houses packed with furniture, curiosities and interesting things to keep me discovering stuff on repeat visits. There's a cafe in the house, and one near the entrance, but both are usually very busy.
S. A. B.
Lovely place to walk around with alot of history.
R. F. B.
Great walk good for pushing a wheelchair in grounds sadly not in house maybe oneday..
M. B.
One of my favourite places! Unspoilt, beautiful views and a fabulous place to walk, with or without our four legged furry friends. The exhibitions are varied and interesting, the canteen serves good food and if you are on a day out try and see the follies outside the grounds and also take a short trip to St Mary the Virgin church at Elmley Castle, which has a Croome link! Once you've been inside this very surprising hidden gem of a church the pub opposite, The Queen Elizabeth Inn, is very well worth a visit. Don't miss out, make the effort - it will be worth it.
D. K.
The parkland designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown is worth a visit with its magnificent 3 year old Japanese bridge! But the house has not yet had the interior restored to any kind of former glory. The RAF museum is interesting but not exactly captivating!
P. T.
A lovely day out with the family. Interesting and a lovely walk or shuttle if you have mobility issues
M. S.
Beautiful house and grounds but when we went only the ground floor was open and alot of the furniture was missing for restoration
A. S.
Great place with plenty of places to walk. Good cafe
D. S.
Brilliant, must visit. Fabulous views, interesting museum, playground and lovely shop. Excellent staff and very good guided walk. Deckchairs dotted about an excellent idea and perfect for picnics. Links to RAF and good signage. Highly recommend.
I. D.
Magnificent grounds (never actually been in the house) with great panoramic views and some lovely walks. Good for kids too but not so much pushchairs. Nice play area. Decent cafe. Lots of free parking. Recommended.
T. B.
Great venue and fantastic grounds . But house was a a bit of a let down this time, several exhibits appear to have gone, leaving big open spaces. I know its being renovated and rebuilt but needs a theme (or themes) to bring out its character. Enjoyed it though and the RAF exhibition was great.
T. W.
Lots of parking available makes it a doddle even when busy. Acres of beautiful parkland including a lake, well kept flowerbeds and pathways. The house here is very interesting in its own way, and is in need of repair to bring it to higher standard. The cafe here is good quality and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend!
s. g.
Happy Wilfday. If you are owned by a dog it's a great day out for them and you. Acres of interesting walking.
p. g.
Great day out , fantastic grounds
A. P.
I don't know why I was under the impression there wasn't much here, but I was pleasantly surprised by the property and grounds. The house doesn't have the traditional furniture set-up, yet the interiors are preserved (for the most part) and tell an interesting story of the history of the house. The grounds are wonderful, and the walk to the lake is well worth it!
Will be returning!
S. L.
An outstanding day out in the lovely estate of Croome. Enjoyed the long walk around the estate though muddy in places. There are many fantastic viewing places on the walk where you can sit and.take in the views. The building is a little run down especially inside but well worth a look.
J. M.
Very nice long walk with a lot of history. Very typical Lacelot Capability Brown landscape. You can visit the lovely house.
M. B.
Nice place to visit with lots of history. Entry for non-members is fairly priced, staff are friendly and attentive.
The whole estate is well looked after, including the house, gardens and RAF museum. The play parks are perfect for kids to let off some steam!!
The food in the café was quite expensive considering the portion size. There were good vegetarian options but I didn't see any vegan food on offer.
B. D.
One of the most beautiful national trust properties I've ever been to. I'd definitely rank it in my top 3! There are 700 acres of parkland to enjoy, in which you can see a church, lake, various follies and the house, which you can visit though I myself didn't. There is also a walled garden though this incurs a small extra fee and doesn't allow dogs. The rest of the park is dog friendly, provided they are kept under control and on a lead.
R. M.
Lovely grounds by Capability Brown and the blueprint for every other Georgian period landscaping project. The house itself is full of modern art exhibits rather than furniture, which look amazing in their regency setting. The kids were entertained by the activities in the basement, the two play parks and the RAF exhibition.
C. B.
Grounds are great for walks. House sold all internal artifacts so is very bare. Walled garden is extra an not worth it.
A. B.
Lovely place for walks. Did not have time to visit the house. The grounds are quite open and extensive.
The children's play park is great for smaller children. It would not provide much for the top end of it's age range (14).
C. C.
One of my favourite places. Good walks, interesting house and museum, good coffee.
G. O.
This is a very different and fascinating NT property. Very little of the usual carpets, paintings and furniture to be seen; instead a fascinating trip through the construction and development of the house providing a blank canvas for the exhibitions in the main building. The grounds are very extensive containing many interesting things to see, which I will explore on my next visit.
J. P.
Our first visit for a few hours so no time to look around the house. The estate has some nice walks and the gardens were still colourful at the end of October. Very interwsting to see an early Capability Brown landscape. Definitely worth a return visit.
V. T.
What a stunning experience on a beautiful sunny day. Everything in sharp focus from the mellow coloured house to the bare winter trees against clear blue skies and reflected in the glassy lakes.
We walked towards the tower in the distance until we reached the M5 with distant views of the Malverns. The RAF Defford museum is interesting, the shop well stocked and the cafe excellent though unfortunately there were no scones left for a cream tea due to large numbers of visitors on what has apparently been the hottest February day on record.
House not visited in this occasion but from past experience well worth a visit.
B. C.
We had a fab day at Croome, also blue the cobwebs away!
A. D. I.
I'm not too keen on visiting stately homes... But this was a great place for good long walks in stunning scenery. Download a map and see if you can find some of the set pieces Capability Brown created to be seen from the big house. They also double as good places for a picnic. Great fun!
d. b.
Historically interesting the devoloment of airborne radar was done here you can learn something new every day more than one visit needed
D. P.
Excellent place to visit for all ages. As I arrived with a dog, I was given a "dog map" which was a great idea! Showing where I could let my dog off a lead, an extended lead and where a short lead was applicable. Good picnic area and our toddler really enjoyed the playground. Will revisit
J. S.
Very good. Very Covid safe. Well signed route. Booking in advance only-which is good. 2 hour recommended stay. Cafe open certainly for takeaway. Lots of seating outside. Some loos open . One way walk system round grounds which is ok cos some easy options on the way. House closed but shop open.
D. F.
Beautiful gardens with a lake and fabulous walks. House and church are stunning and open to the public. There's also a cafe play centre and RAF museum. Great day out and well worth a visit.
S. G.
Bare roots but interesting
L. K.
Brilliant park with so much to see. Lovely grounds even after the poor start to the year weatherwise. House is a must see and then there is the bonus of an airfield museum. Would definitely recommend a visit. We will visit again soon.
P. M.
Beautiful location. Great guides. Fascinating history.
D. W.
Good for a nice afternoon walk.
N. M.
Typically well organised and equipped National Trust property. Awesome staff, lovely location. Excellent playground, small museum and large canteen next to the car park.
The main building is a bit of trek, fine for the able bodied, but the (OK it's free) shuttle service isn't great. The property also could do with some work! But great overall.
M. J.
Gorgeous landscaping showing the talents of Capability Brown: peaceful, open areas of meadow land and dappled , shady wooded walks. Plenty of space for picnics and for the children to run and play. Fascinating house, showing its development through the years...and also the horrors that "developers" inflicted on it.
Plenty of history to the house, both personal and national. Well worth a visit or two
J. C.
Croome is just amazing - the grounds are fantastic. Endless acres for children to run around and explore. The house is still being developed but with your imagination it is easy to picture it as it once was. Staff are lovely and friendly too. My boys loved the museum the most.
M. T.
Absolutely lovely national trust friendly staff couldn't do enough to help. Knowledgeable about croome. Very interesting history would highly recommend a visit to anyone.
L. B.
Wooded walks, lakes, bridges and follies. I love this place
W. P.
Mobility scooter available. Pleasant walk around grounds and lake. Great selection of plants for sale. House interesting decor and exhibitions. Cafe in house basement gloomy and plain. RAF building with cafe good. Nice day out.
E. L.
Stately home with extensive grounds and interesting landscapes. RAF Defford exhibit really interesting. National Trust people here friendly and enthusiastic. Playground and great place for picnic. Car park full but attraction didn't feel it.
c. s.
Great day out.....lots to see.
Needed to allow more time.
D. H.
It remains a good place for a walk and a picnic. In common with most national trust properties, it's far busier than it used to be. However, it's easier here to escape from the crowds in the parkland! RAF Defford museum excellent, and the Canberra fuselage section is worth a look. Expect to queue in the coffee shop....
P. W.
Cracking property with a huge garden would highly recommend a visit
G. S.
Well worth a visit . The church is a little gem! So interesting and unspoiled. From there you have a panoramic view of the Court and Parkland. You can meander your way down to the court in several ways including a buggy. The walks through the woods are cool and peaceful. Dont forget to try the Canteen for refreshing food before you leave.
K. H.
We had a lovely guided tour of the grounds. The volunteers in the house were engaging. A shame the walled garden was closed to visitors. Food was expensive in the restaurant on-site and not a large selection to choose from. Overall a pleasant morning spent at Croome.
T. K.
Excellent National Trust property where a lot of work has been done recently. The stately home is very interesting because it is quite different. Small guided visits are on offer to the Red Wing and the top floor. The cafe is in a restored army hut, along with an RAF museum.
l. G.
Park and woodland are great for long walks and a picnic. The house is open to explore and there is always a knowledgeable volunteer to answer questions.
Good parking area and a shuttle to the house if you don't want to walk.
A packed lunch is suggested if you arrive after 1:30 pm. As usual, National trust tea rooms run out of food by then and you'll find only expensive sandwiches, cream tea or coffee and cakes.
B. M.
We've done dozens of national trust houses and gardens and this may just be the best. Absolutely stunning views and walks - a whole days worth if you have the time. Plenty to keep the kids occupied too. Excellent
C. 3.
So much to see and do. Great walks, kids are very well catered for (the sandbox in the basement area is great, as are the play areas), catering is up to the usual NT standards (very good, if a little pricey). RAF Defford museum areas are a great extra touch.
T.
Superb place beautiful views.
Long walks if you're up to walking. I would highly recommend this place for a day out
K. i.
Lovely gardens surrounding the house. It was an absolute pleasure to walk around them. The house, although the history of it was fascinating, we were sad that there wasn't much of the original contents left to see. Still worth a visit for the exquisite gardens
m. F.
We really liked Croome court, had an interesting walk around the house and church. Then had a small picnic in the grounds we did not walk around much of the gardens today although they are stunning. I would recommend a visit to any one.
S. G.
It was a great day for walking in their spacious park lands. The staff were friendly in shop, cafe and house. It has some unusual very creative items on display which open up the lives of women who have and do live or work there. Terrific
M. L.
Beautiful park and house. The RAF Museum is really interesting and unexpected. Access friendly and even has big wheeled mobility scooters for the park available. Great cafe, if a bit busy.
C. A.
Ideal for a long relatively flat walk around the grounds. Didn't go in the house this time. Great colours coming to the trees.
My local N.Trust property so can visit regularly.
m. b.
This is an interesting place. The cafe is the old hospital building. It was a secret air facility during the second world war. We did not explore much , but the atmosphere was quite unsettling in some areas. The house has had work done on it. The scenery is lovely Capability Brown designed the gardens. One of his first. Coffee and cake o.k.
E. C.
Lovely place to go for a walk with the kids
J. S.
Beautiful surroundings with genuine thought and care put into their upkeep. A good selection of activities but it does get very busy and this can lead to a flustered, inefficient service at the main restaurant (staffed by volunteers I believe, so understandable).
I would recommend the NT invest in an additional catering facility just for hot drinks etc so that even when the restaurant is busy those of us just wanting a tea/coffee can zip past the queues for hot food and be on our way.
E. M.
Stunning gardens, lovely walk. Brilliant that dogs are allowed.
B.
A fantastic NT property, lots of things to see and do for both adults and children. A large military style canteen the entrance, an RAF museum and of course the grounds and house. A great place to have a walk and bring a picnic.
N.
This is my husband' s fave National Trust Place. We have thoroughly enjoyed a couple of art exhibits there by Grayson Perry...pleasantly thought provoking. Sitting on the deck chairs outside the orangery is my favourite spot but don't tell anyone.
J. K.
Spent an excellent couple of hours visiting the walled Gardens, not the house. It was a good time of year to do this as vegetables and fruit were doing well. Refreshments were available for a voluntary contribution, and the (glass) fish and Kingfishers were v dancing in the sunlight over the flower borders and the lily pond. All for £5 each, and you might get to meet the Earl of Coventry!
G. W.
Great place with lots of history just a shame only the ground floor was open. But lovely grounds for a good walk
B. T.
This was where our royal family would have flown from in the event of an invasion they were to fly to Canada. Beautiful house although not furnished. Nonetheless there are displays within and a very interesting model of the house within the house, and ideal for a good wander.
R. H.
Very dog friendly place. You can even take them into the cafe by the main entrance - however the cafe in the main section is in the house and not accessible with a dog, so bare that in mind when you want a cuppa (or the toilet).
Winter trail was nice.
Follow the path round past the ice house rather than straight to the house as this goes around the back of the house and is a nice walk.
D. H.
Had a lovely afternoon at Croome, a vast estate opened up that you can't see from the road including the old church, the house and various walks around the fields. Enjoyed walking round the house and relaxing in the tearoom. There was also a small "bus" service to take you back up the hill. Glad we came for a visit!
S. O.
If you like a good walk and wide open spaces, then this is a good place to be. Some interesting sites, but house and museum closed due to weather causing leaks, but will definitely return again. The collection of trees and shrubs may be particular interest to some. Very biggy in places when wet, so take your wellies in bad weather!
G. B.
A delightful house in a magnificent setting. The car park and reception area is a fair distance (about a 15-20 minute walk) from the house itself. On a nice day the walk is lovely with good views across the Capability Brown landscaped Estate. A motorised shuttle (voluntary contribution) is available if needed. The house is not "furnished" but has many sample peices and information about how it looked in former times, as well as information about it's former occupants. There are refreshment rooms in both the house and at the reception area. The RAF Defford Museum is located next to the Reception area and is well worth a visit.
H. B.
Fabulous day out with lots of exploring to be done & still to do!! Grounds were beautiful especially around the lake area. Deck chairs laid out which is a fantastic idea by the National Trust. The house is empty but the stories the volunteers have to tell bring it to life. In its day it must of been out of this world.....I came away wondering what Capability Brown would think to it if he came back. Tea rooms both in the house & at the entrance in the old RAF Hospital which has its own story to tell
L. H.
A truly stunning location! Beautiful setting. Not over done. Lovely house. Very friendly staff. We've been to NT properties all over the country and this is definitely our favourite!
S. C.
Lovely house & grounds. Would have been nice to see a few more pieces of furniture. Beautiful architecture. Grounds were huge
Great for walks & children to play & discover.
A. H.
Great walks and a wonderful place for the whole family.
E. L.
Very pretty place. Nice day out.
K. M.
This is a great place to be very casual and take a hike, grab a bite, and relax.
Unlike some of the other national trust sites where you might dress up a bit and simply wander within a small radius of the main building, this location has alot of walking and parklands, so best to dress for adventure.
Along with a cafe, gift shop, and small museum, there are parkland, play grounds, huge fields, hiking trails, etc.
I think a family with kids would really enjoy this NT site, as they put on alot of activities as well throughout the year.
The main house is no frills, but an engaging exhibit of different ideas room by room.
A fun day out!
D. P.
Amazing grounds, one can spend a day just enjoying the amazing walks, stream and ponds. The house itself is interesting however quite empty inside. Well worth a visit though.
J. P.
Expensive and usually busy. Annoying thing about cafe is they stop doing bacon etc around 11:30 from my experience - why?!
Nice enough gaff to grab a bite, nice cake selection etc and family friendly. Service is quick enough even on busy weekends and seating inside and out is usually plentiful. Can be noisy when busy but fits atmosphere and generally nice experience.
K. H.
Beautiful National Trust site with fantastic walks and great facilities. It is very dog friendly with specific walks designated for you and your dog with an area where dogs are allowed off lead. We will definitely be returning very soon.
R. D.
The new walled garden is well worth a visit. Check dates when open.
S. M.
Was a lovely estate, the house has a wonderful and checkered history, but sadly has lost much of it's interior grandeur due to it's past incarnations. In addition one whole wing is privately owned so visitors are restricted from this portion.
I think the trust have done a fantastic job of opening this estate to the public, and the houses internal secret is an incredible feat of civil engineering.
As always with trust property, lots of outside space to explore and picnic in
E. B.
Lovely parkland, Lancelot Capability Brown's first.
Unfortunately, thanks to irresponsible dog owners, the areas dogs are allowed off their leads have reduced this year.
The house is being renovated, interesting too back regularly to see how they do it. For example, rather than replacing whole spindles on the back stairs, only those portions that must be replaced are new wood.
Great play areas, both traditional and forest-school style.
Food is excellent. The usual shop, second hand books and plants. plus the RAF Defford museum for those interested.
J. W.
Another favoured National Trust property with plenty of walking and expansive views. The interior of the house and church are well worth a look. Good food to be had in the large cafeteria and there is a walled garden.
R. C.
Because the house had been stripped, this is not going to be an overwhelmingly exciting visit but the NT has done its best to add interest with various informational or artistic displays. The park will make a pleasant afternoon out combined with the RAF Defford Museum
k. h.
Love this place. Not the best NT house in terms of decoration but interesting and the grounds make up for it. Lots for children to do and run off some energy with seasonal trails etc. Staff always friendly and informative
A. G.
It's a great place, lots to see and do inside and out (mainly outside for the kids), huge grounds. The house is a fair treck, but there are shuttles. The house is pretty new to the Trust so there's quite a lot to do, but they're getting there.
f. h.
I always meet my online friend here once a year, as it is half way between where we live and we both volunteer at our local libraries for the summer reading challenge. So this brings many great memories, resulting in a positive outlook of this location. I highly recommend Croome Park, it is a fantastic family day out, with tents full of activities and lovely views. Unfortunately, the libraries will not be going to Croome this year due to financial cutbacks, however me and my friend will hopefully find other means of getting here, as it is an extremely great place.
J. K.
Beautiful as ever, as its such a large place to walk round it would be nice if there were a couple more stops for drinks and snacks, may be in the house or by the lake, especially on hot days.
Often take our Grandchildren they love it.
T. D.
Nice place to walk, you can easily do several km around the grounds. The house,I would say, is less interesting than the grounds as it lacks any place/time in history and is a rather strange mixture of history from different uses in its past.
R. D.
Very enjoyable morning exploring the court with a 2 year old in tow - staff were remarkably obliging. Will definitely go again to spend more time on the displays and wonderful grounds.
J. H.
Lovely place. Lots of walks. Lovely hose and museum. Friendly and informative team. Great day out.
L. H.
A grand national trust park land to exercise one's toddler in less than dry weather. The staff were very agreeable and reasonable allowing my toddler to take his balence bike into the grounds. There are a number of garden structures / features that punctuate your circular route around the grounds. A excellent place for a walk, with a nice little cafe to rest in afterwards.
S. S.
Great place for a day out. Plenty to see and set in the wonderful Worcestershire countryside. Difficult to get to by public transport, so car, bike or a decent 4.6 mile walk from Pershore is the only way to get there and back.
A. C.
One of the best National Trust properties. Large well kept grounds, two National Trust cafés, and clear routes you can take depending on how far you want to walk, or what you want to see. Dogs are allowed if they are on (non-extensible) leads.
R. J.
Great place to visit for adults, kids and dogs. House is constantly having more things added. (No dogs allowed in house). Not so much new things as original things being returned to the house. If you you have been in the past, come back again there is much more to see.
F.
Beautiful, ground breaking experiment by Adam's, capability Brown. The house was severely run down so it's a bit of a shell at the moment, fairly bare inside but still worth seeing for grounds and exhibitions taking place. Many rooms are open, but just a bit sparce at the moment.
P. G.
I can understand needing a booking system for going inside buildings, but not for just walking around the grounds. I think most NT members are sensible enough to keep a sensible distance from others!
T. W.
Great visit .Highlighted by the excellent tour by Adrian giving a very informative account on the history and future of Croome .Highly recommended
C. A.
Lovely place. Great guides in the house (Graham and Chris) who were great with the kids. Definitely a full day out.
Z. W.
Beautiful place to vistit the house is still more or less a shell as there is still alot of work to do inside. The grounds are spectacular and well wprth a visit with or without seeing the house. Stunning views and on a nice day a perfect family day out. The tea room in the old green house is lovely with chairs outside for soaking up the atmosphere. Had a tour of the first floor in the house but get in quick as there is limited spaces on there tours and when you see what has happened on first floor you'll understand this poor house has taken a battering in its time. It will take years to fix completely but worth it's history x
N. B.
So much space!!! Spent a good half day here and feel like we only just scratched the surface of what there is to see and explore here. Even in torrential rain it was enjoyable (although you would definitely need good wet weather gear as it's very easy to get caught without any kind of shelter). Will definitely be returning to explore and discover more, probably more than once.
G. L.
This is a lovely place and there is plenty to see and do, beginning with the airfield museum and then moving on into the large estate to see the well preserved church, the estate house, the summer house and then the lake. The walk round the estate grounds with the black lab make for a perfect day.
C. C.
Croome is our favourite NT property locally and one that we visit very regularly, usually to walk our dog and enjoy the grounds before having something to eat or drink in the rather wonderful cafe. So, what do we like so much about Croome? Lovely, largely dog-friendly open parkland with a variety of walks to suit all energy levels; beautiful gardens and lakeside; deckchairs dotted around during the warmer months; wonderful picnic spots; a nice children's play area (our children have outgrown it now); an interesting house in the early stages of development by the NT; a great second hand bookshop; fabulous cafe with plenty of outside undercover seating if you bring your four-legged friend; plenty of parking; transport to the main house for the less energetic/able; interesting museum highlighting the wartime connection of RAF Defford; lots of events throughout the year to appeal to a variety of tastes and interests. You could easily spend the whole day here and still come back for more.
G. B.
Croome Court is a fine National Trust property set in magnificent grounds. The visitor entrance is via buildings in what remains of a wartime RAF Station, which was built close by. The coffee shop (in what was the RAF Station Hospital), plant sales area and gift shop there are accessible without paying the fee to visit the main house, as is a small but very interesting RAF Museum which details the development of the Station and its eventual closure after only 16 years.
Croome is a little remote, but well worth a visit.
J. N.
Great place to have a picnic. They also have loads for kids to do. There is a restaurant with a good selection of food and drinks. There are a load of sun loungers dotted around the grounds to make the most of the peaceful atmosphere.
J. S.
A fantastic day out. Wonderful house and grounds along with a restaurant, tea room, gift shop and plant shop. Play area for the kids and you can take the dog. Well worth a visit.
A. J.
Excellent visit. More rooms to view the Vortex room is especially interesting. Also we had the opportunity to view the top floor and some of the stored items.
There are large grounds but no real garden.
R. M.
I'm a regular visitor & love Croome because it is so dog friendly with a great variety of walks, in all seasons. The staff are always very helpful, but this afternoon two were absolutely wonderful, when my Greyhound hurt her paw & couldn't walk, they lifted her into their buggy (not easy as she weighs 32kg!) & drove us back to our car. Thank you so much.
C. B.
Wonderful place - full of beauty and history.
A. B.
Awesome place. So much to do and see. Only the ground floor of the court is open at the moment but still worth a visit. Check website for what is open on which days.
A. P.
Loved this place. We cycled here. Food was good for lunch. House great to walk around as well as grounds. It is quite a walk to the house but there is a bus service available. Really friendly guides who clearly know there stuff.

Lovely walks around suburb parkland and a visit to the airforce museum were in order on this visit. The house had been visited on our previous visit. Absolutely love this National Trust venue and look forward to many more visits.

A lovely day at a surprisingly war time secret Base, no idea just how important the RAF work was to the war effort. Interesting gardens and park, because we visited at the end of season the house was not open but will return to visit again.

Friendly staff .old pupils from the school telling there storys . The house is unfurnished mainly but you get to see more than a lot of trust houses. Large grounds to walk in. Also a small war museum. Cafe is very good.

This big house was cleared years ago and is very slowly being reopened and dressed. Always something new. The parkland (originally by Brown) is big views and long walks out to the lake and back. No wows just a nice big open space for the day.

Interesting place! The RAF museum was fascinating, staffed by some very knowledgeable people I could have chatted to all day. Beautiful grounds that reach out across the landscape. Oh... just go! 😊

Wide open spaces for a hike. Only downside is noise from M5. Lots to see and enjoy from RAF stuff to Capability Brown landscape. Cafe not bad either...

Like the RAF Defford exhibition and the gardens. The house was disappointing as it had little character left. It needs a lot of work to restore it to its former glory and I was not a fan of the "art" work put in empty plaster bare rooms to fill the space and provide a quick stop gap for the public to look at. Not my type of National Trust property at all.

Excellant grounds to walk around & great having a separate large area to let dogs run free. Very informative volunteers at the RAF museum. Good food in atmospheric cafe.

Always a nice place to take the family, take a long walk or take the mini-truck to the main house. Very interesting past and various owners over the years, now saved by the NT and not turned into a golf course thank goodness.

I always enjoy visiting Croome... lovely walk down past the Orangery and the lake, plus interesting exhibitions in the house. The 1940s-style canteen is atmospheric, great black and white photos of the war years in the local area.
