Reviews of Highdown Hill
M. M.
A great walk up through the lanes & fields, enjoying the scenery as you go. The view from the top makes the trek worthwhile.
A. B.
Good views of the area. On a clear day you can see all the way to the seven sisters in one direction and to the isle of wight in the other. Lots of walks lead from this area. Also there is the Miller's tomb to visit as well.
A. O.
Lovely day out and best of all, it's free.
K. H.
Fantastic views on a clear day. Bracing, blustery but beautiful. Nearby tearooms are great for a light meal and Highdown Gardens are stunning.
A. D.
Absolutely lovely place for dog walking, picnics and birdwatching. Great views of the surrounding towns as well as the sea. You can see all of Brighton and even the seven sisters on a good day!
L. M.
I regularly go up on Highdown Hill covering approximately 4 miles each time covering different routes through depending on how energetic I am feeling that day. Walking round the hill you will take in great view’s inland and the coast. This is a great walk for novice walkers, dog walkers, runners, kids and many others I probably have not thought of.
There is great spot at the top of the hill for a picnic with the family as well as a picnic area near the car park. (Please ensure you put your rubbish in the bins and if they are full take it home. Otherwise the animals will have the rubbish everywhere and this ruins the site for everyone).
The car park is free and near to this there is the Highdown Gardens which is also free and there is a tea rooms just outside the car park.

Great spot on the outskirts of Worthing to walk your dog and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views.

Fantastic place for a brief walk or an all day hike. Beautiful panoramic views of the nearby communities and the sea. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
P. G.
Always good, but today late September... Very windy. You will see dog walkers, runners, horses, birds of prey and great views.
R. E.
A truly wonderful place to visit and go walk about. Great for dog walkers as well. Excellent views from the top. Go for it 😊
A. S.
It's a lovely place to go for a walk or run had a beautiful day up here
P. M.
Luckily travelled to the hill several times, usually a sunny grassy expanse... But today overcast and windy twas still worthwhile. PJM
K. K. K.
Relaxing walk, good for chatting with your friends, family or lover. Perfect area for walking your dog and absolutely amazing is when you can spend a few hours with your kids....
C. M.
Nice walk and great views, along with the history of the place.
L. H.
Perfect for waking & kite flying. Great views of worthing too. Toilet facilities and cafe or coffee van
T.
So empty and fresh. Windy and cold but really gets you back to nature and only 5 minutes from home.
A. C.
Great views from the top on a good day. Plenty of different paths to choose from so you could always find a different route.
C. W.
Beautiful sunrise on Resurrection Morning, a really special time with friends & family. Shame about all the litter, near the carpark, why can't people take their litter home with them if the bins are full!
M. L.
Love this place and so does my puppy. Loads of space for him to run around
W. S.
Lovely views. Decent sized car park'. Nice walks.
s. r.
What a view! One of the best in Worthing
D. H.
Lovely park, great for god walking or just exploring.
M. H.
Used to be a banging nightclub, is now a fancy pub with excellent local beers in a great location. Just needs some techno again.
P. N.
Really good place to walk the dog as plenty of space for self distancing.
A marvellous panoramic view from the top.
A shame though that when open the beautiful gardens do not allow dogs even on leads.
r. b.
Good views of the south downs and over the sea from the Seven Sisters to the Isle of Wight.
S.
Great walk and lovely views.
S. M.
Wonderful place in the summer, even better in midwinter. Doggies love it and fantastic sea views. Dont take my word for it go and have s look
r. r.
Beauitfull place to visit will come again lots to see and do.
I.
This is one of the most beautiful national parks and locations I have been to in the South of UK/England. It’s really close to Worthing, Ferring, Goring-by-sea, Durrington-by-sea, Angmering, Littlehampton, Rustington, Brighton, Chichester and Bognor Regis in West Sussex.
A good place to take a nice day trip out from London as well.
I am definitely giving this 5 stars and 10 out of 10.
I would highly recommend to anyone who’s never been to that spot including for those who live in Brighton, Worthing, London, Chichester, Portsmouth and Southampton.
It did gave me those nature vibes but that’s a classic British location that was.
It’s also better to visit here where there’s more daytime during spring and the summer period for hiking and long walks. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😇😇😇😇😇😇🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️😉😉😉😉😉😉
C. D.
Love the views and walks, occasional seating, car park. Shame on the dog owners who leave poo bags around and unbagged poo. You do have to watch where you tread!
J. R.
Beautiful, but wish people would take their rubbish home or to to the nearest bin. So many natural beauty spots are being ruined by people being mindless. Love taking our dogs up here. Not a problem cleaning up after them, so why can't people clean up after themselves
B. “.
The views along the coast from the top are stupendous. You can see the Isle of Wight on a clear day. A wonderful place to walk.
S. J.
A fantastic and easily accessible public space with marvellous views in all directions. But our experience was once again marred by a minority of utterly thoughtless dog owners. Our 4 year old grandson was chased by a boisterous and large dog as he ran down the hill. This frightened him. Not a word of apology from the two women who were responsible. And, having picked up dog poo and bagged it, what kind of selfish idiot flings the bag into the undergrowth or hangs it on a bush? Lots, it would seem. Come on dog owners, the reputation of dogs deserves better than this.
R. B.
Nice views and free parking but presently you can not go into the gardens themselves until 2nd June 2021 due to some improvements being made. Great place to go for a stroll or a picnic and there is a nearby pub/cafe/restaurant if you want refreshments but don't want to carry it yourselves. There is an old hill Fort, a tomb of a Miller and a windmill without sails as points of interest
S. C.
Lovely place to walk dogs. Great views over surrounding countryside from the hill. Large carpark so no problem parking. Nearby hotel is good for coffee and/or breakfast or lunch
N. T.
Lovely spot, free parking and loos. Highdown Gardens well worth a visit
M. R.
Wonderful place to walk the dog, spend time with family and friends or just to go on a small walk. Lovely view of Ferring, Angmering and East Preston and a wonderful place to be at any time of the year.
G. B.
Beautiful place to walk, with some interesting historical areas (like the tomb). You can also walk down to Patching to the local pubs (The Worlds End and The Fox).
Lovely dog walking area with views of the ocean.
C. W.
A lovely spot. The hill is a favourite of dog walkers and so much more. The views from the top are spectacular. The Downs to the north, the sea spread out below you, and a very long coastline. The Isle of Wight is visible in the west and the Seven Sisters in the east.
K. B.
Really nice view, comfortable to have a picnic or bbq. Quite a few people pass through cycling, jogging or walking but if you explore you can find quite places to chill and have fun, without being disturbed by passers by.
J. E.
Lovely large area to walk. Beautiful views from top. Note car park reduced in size atm due to some building works.
R.
Perfect sunset, calm and peaceful surroundings.
C. G.
Quaint tea room, doggy ice cream, Gothic Hotel and gardens. ( Refurbishment taking place at present-all open now hope they still stock the ice-cream!) .
Walks and gardens still worth visiting for. Ancient Hillfort and cemetery, Millers grave and Mill. Superb uplifting walks and views.
V. L.
Beautiful sunrise. Great venue to celebrate Resurrection Day.
V.
A fab place for a walk and a wonderful scenery
D. F.
Great place to walk, a slight incline to the top of the hill with views over the Channel to the south and the downs to the north
There is a car park and public loos along with the gardens to explore.
A great place for a morning or afternoon excursion
P. C.
Nice walk with great views of the surrounding area, gets a bit muddy around the car park area in winter, but normally fine further up.
t. M.
Views. Space. Great for dogs and kids to burn off steam
p. s.
Beautiful view of Worthing,Ferring,Rustington and Littlehampton.
G. W.
Nice place for a walk. Nice cafe at Hangleton Equestrian centre. Newly opened. Very reasonably priced good and drink. Sunday lunch is served. Plenty of car parking.
r. g.
The views are tip top.
Peaceful and exhilarating at same time.
Bit too many dogs is only negative although most are well behaved.
Still recommended.
A. H.
National Trust property with commanding views of the south coast from the Isle of Wight round to The Seven Sisters, and the South Downs to the north. Well worn paths can get a bit muddy ... well ... very muddy in places, and dodging cyclists can be challenging at times ... but worth the visit fir the walk and the reward of the view once you reach the Iron Age hill fort.
M. F.
Free parking picnic tables popular place for dog walkers local history plenty of space to social distance from others local wildlife only thing missing is public toilets 👍
M. V.
Beautiful place, certainly great for any walk, especially with a dog. Would be nice if all people cleaned after their dogs.

Great place for all walks of life in one place.
R. D.
Run around the Miller's tomb and call his name 7 times and he will jump out at you! This is the resting place of John Oliver.
Why start you at
that skeleton?
'Tis your own
picture that you
shun:
Alive it did
Resemble thee,
And thou when
Dead like that
Shall be
M. R.

(Translated) Fantastic location !! The hotel was reopened this spring (2019) and beautifully renovated. From here you can explore the surroundings such as Brighton, Worthing, London, Narundel Castle, but even Stonehenge, which is almost 2 hours away.
(Original)
Fantastische locatie!!
