Reviews of Amgueddfa Lloyd George Museum
Museum, built next to the cottage (which you can visit) that David Lloyd George grew up in. Worth going to, while visiting neighbouring areas. He was one of the most influential Prime Ministers we've ever had.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the museum. The key points of Lloyd-George's life are displayed. We enjoyed the old school room and all the various items on display. You will find Lloyd-George's childhood home a very short walk from the museum. Again, we really enjoyed being inside his old home. Another short walk will take you to his grave by the river.
This is an excellent little museum, it's small size belying the wealth of information well presented in the exhibits. It won't appeal to everyone, but if you have any interest in this country's history or more specifically in Lloyd George, then I would strongly recommend a visit. Entrance includes access to his childhood home and nearby grave site, which can be visited without paying for the museum. Toilets available within the museum but otherwise no other facilities though anything one might require is readily available in nearby Criccieth.
Small museum dedicated to the life of the late Prime Minister David Lloyd George.
All exhibits, either photographs or items have a description of them in Welsh or English and most have a version also in French.
A small video theatre is there to give you an introduction to the great man himself, and the reasons why he became the political force over time, that brought help to the poor and elderly of this nation.
Lots of interesting material I had read Lloyd Georges biography and seen documentaries but still learnt a lot more about the great man.
Lovely grounds too
Some fascinating exhibits but could do with more explanation. No refreshments of any sort
A lovely little museum off the beaten track dedicated to Lloyd George. £6 entry per adult which includes a beautiful book.
Well worth a visit if you are interested in British history. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, a picnic area and kids play area, so something for everyone.
A must for all visitors in the area. At £7 per person is not for everyone.
What an amazing political figure with a huge impact in UK politics. And of course he was Welsh.
Good range of artefacts, and information. Useful film about his life, and a visit to his home. Well recommended.
Excellent museum. Very detailed information about Lloyd George. Easy to follow time line and very good information of his achievements. Wonderful staff. Full of passion to pass on there knowledge.
I didn't realise politics could be so interesting. Lloyd-George did amazing things, and rarely gets the kudos nowadays.
Very interesting. Reccomenf the film at end of visit.
Staff VERY helpful about buses from Llanystumdwy
Informative museum on Lloyd George. Laid out in chronological order. Amazing how much he achieved in his lifetime. Hadn't realised how much we owe him for the way things are now. Don't mis his childhood home next door and do see his grave which is not what you'd expect for a former Prime Minister.
This museum is excellent. It is intimate and you could feel the personality of Lloyd George shining through. The film is informative. The cottage where he grew up was beautifully presented as was his uncle's workshop. The staff were friendly and helpful
Lovely place and a fascinating insight into Lloyd George. We'll worth a visit 👍
Fascinating afternoon, museum is interesting and very enlightening about the life and times of Lloyd George. Set in a beautiful village and only a short walk to Lloyd George's grave.
Intimate museum for one of the most impactful persons on modern day history
Thought some of the information boards to low and needed to bend to read ,no tea rooms
Its Very interesting place to visit. Had alot of items belong to this gentleman and his family. Worth a visit.
My husband and I spent a good couple of hours here...we both really enjoyed it. I didn't really know anything about the museum before our visit. The museum itself was really well stocked and informative. The cottage was idyllic and an added bonus as I didn't expect it! Lloyd George's grave was impressive .. the setting very peaceful and the stone that was laid on his grave.. childhood memories of when him and his brother played at the river and when they got tired would sit and rest on the stone was very emotional..
Just visited the David Lloyd George Museum. We have passed it many times but today called in. My wife and I received a warm welcome and we were immediately impressed with the layout of the museum. The life and achievements of Lloyd George are well displayed in an interesting and informative manner. His political achievements are extremely relevant in relation to the problems that we face today and a poignant reminder of the fierce battles that he fought in establishing the welfare state and much of what we take for granted today.
Well done to all involved with this excellent museum. - Thoroughly recommended.
We spent an interesting couple of hours here. The museum is well laid out and has some interesting items. I particularly liked the old punch cartoons, but there were plenty of other displays, including some fun displays and exhibits for kids. I hadn't realised that we could see lloyd George's childhood home, and it's largely as it was 150 years ago. They even have the original desks he and his brother worked on. The staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Wonderful museum. Bilingual displays and information. Compact, informative and well laid out. Highly recommend to anyone with a thirst for history and knowledge.
Only went as knew Lloyd George from history of ww1 and was in the area, saw the signpost and though might as well have a look. On entry to museum saw the entrance fee, thought its a bit much and asked the man on the desk what was in there to warrant such a price. I was given a brief overview and thought it didnt sound too bad so would give it go, paid for myself and my 19 year old daughter.
So glad I did, there was so much information, an interesting film of the great mans life and exhibits to fascinate even the uninterested.
Thought I might be pushed to hang the visit out to 30 mins, spent over 2 hours in the place.
Both my daughter and myself fully recommend the place for a visit.
Thank you to all the staff for making the place a success and enjoyable.
So so interesting definitely worth a visit.
The museum is extremely fascinating if you are interested in the colourful life of David Lloyd George. I love visiting it when in Snowdonia. The filmshow, held in the very comfortable small cinema, is very informative and it is lovely to be taken personally to view the cottage where he grew up.
Great little museum. From an Irish point of view Lloyd George is a very interesting person. They have a draft copy of the armistice peace agreement of the Treaty of Versailles but only the cover is visible.
Would love to see inside it or even a PDF version of probably the most important document of the 20th Century.
No cameras we're allowed!
We went to the David Lloyd George museum today. Brilliant place staff knowledgeable and very pleasant. Whole visit very informative and well worth going. True statesman that would go down well now!!!
A Museum with a comprehensive range of exhibits, the nature of them paint a vivid portrait of the times he lived in. The early Animated head is a treat. Little known fact, it appears the garden linking the main museum to the cottage was designed by David Bellamy.
Took a drive out to see the museum of David Lloyd George Really didn't know the full history of the man until today very informative and plenty to see with the childhood home next door to the museum and his burial place a short walk to the river. Recommend a visit
Brilliant collection. Very interesting
A small museum worth every penny of the entrance fee. Lots of information on the life of Lloyd George with a short film at the end of the visit to the main museum. Afterwards you take a short walk to the small cottage Highgate where he spent most of his boyhood. Then you can make a further walk to his burial place by the Dwyfor River. It"s a gem
Nice first time there more to see than I expected
An amazing museum, documenting an incredible manThis is is
a very thorough portrayal of his life and the time he lived. We came away as fans..This museum is an important asset to the region.
An excellent place to visit, lots to see and plenty of info, you learn things you didn't know about, so interesting well worth a visit. Parking places with disabled spaces too. Not too expensive either!
Very informative, pity there wasn't anywhere to get a coffee and a cake.
Lots of information on display, including an old classroom and children's area. Also possible to visit his childhood home.
Lovely little museum! There's so much to see despite it's relatively small size. I'd definitely recommend!
Nice museum about WW1 PM David Lloyd George. Can also visit his grave near a river. And old childhood cottage.
Very interesting and thorough, albeit slightly rose tinted, insight into his life. Plenty to absorb. Visit to nearby home and grave an added attraction.
Lovely informative museum staff very helpful
Well worth a a visit... Very educational and informative exhibition re a very influencial Prime Minister... Plus his grave is a short walk away in a very tranquil setting...
Small, highly specific and good museum that we combined with a visit to Portmeirion. Filled some (large) gaps in my knowledge.
Thought provoking, makes me feel like we need a "Lloyd George" now. (Male or female) to save us from public schoolboys playing at politics in Westminster!
Very informative. Although rather biased. We also thought that the film would be better suited before walking round the museum.
A very wonderful place the film that they show is very good and all the exhibit's are very interesting. Well worth a visit
Interesting and informative, a real insight into the life of Lloyd George, would definitely recommend visiting!
Atmospheric early home of David Lloyd George and small museum about his life. Learn lots about social history and about the man himself!
A good little museum for such a small town. Well worth a visit if you enjoy history and reading.
Interesting in parts, lots of information to absorbe. Staff could be more engaging.
Most interesting presentation of a public figure. Well worth a visit for lots of reasons,, historic, political, and Humanities.
This is a serious museum with great collection showing the life of one of our great statesmen to whom we owe much today.
Small but packed full of information and facts about Lloyd George. Lovely
Amazing museum! Life must have been so very hard! Go see for yourself
Very good, very informative. Make sure you see the Cottage at the back! Grave too down the road.
Helpful staff. Interesting museum in a quiet village.
Great museum with fantastically enthusiastic staff. Highly recommended.
Very interesting and informative, shows how people lived in the day

Interesting
(Translated) Interesting monographic museum about the life and political work of former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Lloyd George. The museum consists of two distinct spaces. In the main part there is the museum collection focused on the figure of the Welsh politician, which consists of several rooms with explanatory panels and objects of great interest. The text of the exhibition can be read in Welsh, English and some panels in French. The biographical information is distributed in chronological order, from his birth to his death, with special panels on important issues or controversies during his time as prime minister, such as the Balfour Declaration, the management of the Irish conflict or the First World War In the panels, in addition to the text, there are images of original documents from the time, a detail that confirms the documentary research work behind it. But what stands out most about the exhibition are the objects on display, such as clothing worn by him during significant events in his life, gifts and tributes from various Welsh cities to his work as a politician. I personally found a copy of the Treaty of Versailles (1919) and the seal with which the British Prime Minister initialed it very interesting.
The second part of the tour is on the other side of the garden (where there is an interesting reproduction of the door of 10 Downing Street). It is the family home where David Lloyd George grew up, which retains period furniture and a replica of the family business, a shoe shop.
Finally, it is also recommended to visit the grave of the Welsh politician, which is located about 100 meters from the museum, next to the river that passes through the village.
I would point out negatively that the billboards and panels are a little out of date aesthetically, but the visit is well worth it.
