W. H.Having tried for many months to find a replacement bell flare for a nice Elkhart Conn 8D whose flare was unfortunately wrecked in an accident, I phoned Luke and Heidi to ask if they had anything suitable. I was delighted to discover that Woodhead Horns had several 2nd hand 'large' flares in stock. I visited their Ampthill workshop, where Luke produced a very good gold brass flare, took some measurements to identify the screw-ring on the horn, and promised to send me the flare, with its suitable ring fitted, a.s.a.p.
Imagine my surprise and delight when the flare arrived in the post by 'Special Delivery' the very next day, only 24 hours after I had left the workshop!
The screw-ring had been fitted to the flare so carefully that the lacquer was still absolutely intact and unmarked. Wonderful! And at a very reasonable price.

Fitting a screw bell to a Vienna Horn.
Cutting a PHC thread onto a one piece mouthpiece.
Fitting an adjustable finger hook to a double horn.
Fixing loose stays. (never the same one twice, by the way)
Selling an Alexander double horn on my behalf.
