Wonderful people! Made a special trip to see the team at SUS (from overseas), and I am so glad I did. They replaced the tuners on my Kala soprano travel with a set of excellent lightweight geared planetary ones that look stunning and work brilliantly. They replaced the strings on it and did a small repair job on it too. I also went shopping for a new uke; Phil guided me through different sizes and woods, made brilliant suggestions, let me play them and get a real feel of the different instruments. The Flight Fireball was the winner, and I know that it will be an instrument I'll treasure. I've ordered 3 ukes from these guys and every single time the service has been impeccable. Shipping is always incredibly fast but the care taken in setting up the instruments and quality checking them before they're sent out is what keeps me coming back to them. If I order from SUS I know I'm getting a good instrument. This time around I went for the Millar SP-210L Spruce/Acacia long neck soprano. I'd seen Baz from gotaukulele had given it a great review and I wanted a solid spruce top soprano but with a few extra frets. It arrived today and I can't stop looking at it/can't put it down. It's an absolute beauty. The woods used are delicious. The volume is a surprise for a smaller instrument and the tone is delightful. I did find a used PONO solid Mango wood 'Pineapple' Tenor ukulele for sale on the site at a sensible price, and emailed Alex for his advice regarding the likely suitability for a 'newbie'. He replied promptly with good advice, and I placed an order. which included free delivery by 2 day DPD courier. Next day I 'phoned to add a few extras to my order before it was dispatched. No problem to do. Delivery by DPD was dead on time, and the mid priced ukulele was exactly as described and a fantastic instrument that I will enjoy. All in all an excellent and personal service .way above some normal online outlets, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Southern Ukulele Store on all levels to advise and help with your future needs. A legend in the ukulele community, I only recently purchased my first instrument from Alex. It was a terrific experience. The knowledge, customer service and quality of the product are world class. I live in Hong Kong and the process couldn’t have been easier. I bought a Flight electric ukulele from SUS and their service and friendliness was outstanding. The first ukulele they sent was technically fine (beautiful in fact) but had quite light steel strings, and being a bit of a heavy handed fretter, this led to some intonation problems. So I discussed this with Phil and Alex at SUS who suggested I try it with some heavier gauge strings. Then, to make life easy for me, they put heavier gauge strings on the same model of ukulele at their shop and did all the other set up bits and pieces, posted it out to me, and had the courier take away the original ukulele at the same time. It was very well-packed indeed, in multiple layers of bubble-wrap, with cardboard and newspaper packing, and inside its case within that. I’m always reluctant to buy a musical instrument on-line, as I think one should really see and hear the actual example before buying it, but in this case I had already tried this model, as I had found one elsewhere, but it had a fault which meant it had to be returned, and that dealer did not have another tenor uke of any type. Afterwards I got a detailed description of the work that he had done. I am a beginner ukulele player of 2 years standing without any musical background. My wife kindly offered to buy me a ukulele for a 40th wedding anniversary present, and one that I could plug into her Roland Street Cube. Of course music shops have been closed due the pandemic lockdown, and so I went online. I tried a couple of well known music stores specialising in folk instruments, but I did not find them helpful. Bought a cheaper ukelele from this company after reading good reviews. Arrived really quickly and safely packaged and looked great. One of the main reasons I wanted to buy from a shop instead of buying from amazon was down to the instrument being set up well. This was sadly not the case, nut was terrible with little pieces of plastic peeling off in the string slots.The uke wouldn’t stay in tune and playing sharp down to nut issue. Fretboard also very dry and needing oiled but not a major issue. I’m in a position that I have knowledge enough to fix these issues but I had hoped to avoid them. Perhaps the company should look at quality control more closely. 27/12/18 Ross the manager got in contact with me and was very helpful and apologetic . Refunded me money off my purchase. There is no pressure to purchase “high end” gear if there is something more reasonable to suit your needs and budget. I received my KTI-700 this morning. An upgrade from my original Uke bought from SUS in 2012. I chose it based on your recent YouTube reviews and some research of my own - absolutely love it! I believe you said it was the Uke lots of people walk out of the shop with, which made me think that it must be good in comparison to whatever they have played... The KTI-700 is a really playable Uke. Seems to be lower and smoother action than my Kala (feels easier to make chords) and the sound is clean, bright but not tinny (Kala is mellow, softer sound). IMO, knocks my Kala KA-ST out of the park. Would loved to have tried one of the more expensive Ukes for comparison but can't get to you anytime soon. Will keep watching your YouTube reviews. One very happy customer here!

Have only dealt with SUS online or by 'phone and have always found them to be exceptionally helpful as well as totally honest. When asking for advice, they do not bamboozle nor avoid making critical comments or alternative suggestions if something might not be a good idea or buy.
