After experiencing group lessons for our older children that weren’t quite right, we were recommended Rachel via a friend and what a positive move that was! Our little violinist-at-home has had fantastic individual tuition from some one who is calm, thorough, highly knowledgable and skilled. We’d love to see Rachel perform one day as we often hear her practicing before the lesson - it is very inspiring for a young child to hear!
Although our daughter is still young, Rachel is ensuring that she learns correct techniques from the start whilst still being able to keep her enthusiastic about playing.
At the start of lockdown Rachel was super quick to suggest Zoom lessons and make videos for us to refer back to, all of which demonstrates her commitment to her students, and understanding that children still need that teacher motivation and encouragement.

Rachel is a fantastic teacher. She is patient and encouraging. I have improved lots since I started with her, and I greatly enjoy my lessons. She's very flexible, and she's taught me to play my personal favourite songs. I would recommend her to anyone wishing to learn.

Rachel is patient, thorough and precise in giving feedback so no aspects of scales, studies or pieces are left unclear and I can improve as much as possible. She gives great advice on how to practice tuning, articulation and bowing techniques and always explains their importance and contribution to whatever I am learning. I feel I always know clear steps to understanding and learning the material I am working on.

Whenever we call for my daughters lesson, before we knock we hear Rachel practicing her violin, we have to stop for a minute to listen, totally inspirational! Rachel is so engaging, very patient and great at keeping our daughter focused on the lesson. She has and keeps on developing our daughter to a higher standard. Rachel is truly an amazing, inspirational and dedicated music teacher and musician.

Our daughter decided she wanted to learn the violin at age four starting primary school in Hove, and has been taught by Rachel for nearly two years. She started knowing nothing, with two parents who aren't musicians. She is now staggering her parents playing pieces of music and able to read the music she is playing. Its at a basic level of course, but Rachel has been able to take a novice, and teach her the complex world of holding the bow and violin correctly, the strings, etc and gradually move her forward with a great deal of encouragement. Its been done at a rate that suits our daughter and has kept her motivated.
We want our daughter to enjoy playing, and develop a love for music, and Rachel is able to reach down to a child's level and teach, with the right mixture of professionalism and encouragement.
We couldn't recommend Rachel more highly, and if you think you want your child taught by anyone, then we would say 1:1 with Rachel is worth the money and miles better than trying to learn with a group at school.

Fantastic teacher! I have made so much progress because she encourages me to set challenging yet achievable goals which keep me motivated and practising to meet them. I’m really enjoying playing my violin and I couldn’t have gained the confidence and ability without the help and expertise along the way.
