He turned my cricket bat into a Stradivarius! I took my old Gordon Smith, Les Paul style guitar, for a pickup installation and a set up to predominantly solve the problem of strings choking when bent at certain high register frets. Rob initially inspected and played the guitar and then identified other issues and gave explanations and recommendations on all matters of concern. Over the following two weeks, Rob installed the pickups, along with new pots and capacitors, and also carried out nut height adjustment, fret levelling, string height and intonation, and finished off with a complete clean and polish of the fretboard and body that left my guitar, built in 1989, looking brand new. In addition to the aforementioned work, Rob voluntarily performed the time-consuming and painstaking task of removing a flaking nitrocellulose lacquer that a previous owner had added to the neck. My guitar now looks, sounds and feels superb and I left Rob's workshop with considerably more knowledge than with which I arrived. Having previously employed the services of three other luthier or guitar techs, I recommend RLP above all. I have never been so impressed with any service in my entire life than I have with RLP!

Can't recommend Rob enough, excellent and quick service, friendly and very, very knowledgeable. Took my Martin in that was a chore to play, action was too high, horrible plastic bridge, got it back a few days later with a bone bridge and pins, and a great action. It now plays so much easier, sounds great. Will be taking a few other of my guitars into Rob soon for some much needed attention.

I bought a cheap guitar from eBay and took it to Rob for setting up and a few upgrades. I got the guitar back and it's just wonderful, it's like an expensive guitar but without the expense. The combined total of what I spent knocks the socks off anything in that price bracket and probably challenges guitars double the value. I appreciated Rob's knowledge on pickups and his interest in achieving the tone that I want. The work to the fretboard and neck turned what was essentially pretty nasty into something pretty hard to put down. Thanks Rob.

Took my Fender Jazz in to be setup and have the pickups replaced. It's never played or sounded better. I was very impressed with Rob's knowledge and methodical approach. I'd definitely use again.

I have had 2 guitars worked on by Rob. A Gibson SG and Les Paul. The work was excellent and the guitars where both setup perfectly. Playing far better than when they where bought new. Rob also can give great advice for pickups and offers a service to change pickups and modify electrics. He has a connection with bareknuckle which are excellent pickups and can order them and fit them at a discount of their original price. Excellent service all round.

I just put my prs ce 24 in for a service and a set up with Rob. He adjusted the bridge levelled all the frets and adjusted the string height. The guitar now is easier to play and it resonates much better. Rob knows his stuff and gives excellent advice and tells you what he's going to do in a concise easy to understand way. Top quality

Took my Sigma acoustic guitar to RLP and he made it truly sing! Set up immaculately giving it some real TLC and he even spotted things about the guitar I didn't know about (Previous owner installed pick-up back to front!). Couldn't recommend RLP enough and can't wait to bring more kit to him to have a tinker with.

Took my fender strat roadhouse here for a setup and i have to say ive gave it 4 days before putting a review. Im absolutely made up with it the guitar. It is litually 8xbetter to play an now stays in tune, dont think ive had to tune it once tbh 4 days later, rob knows his stuff an his recommendations are in yours an your 🎸 best interest. We purchased a Domino Strat from Rob, and wanted to say what a great bit of craftsmanship it is. It looks stunning, and it sounds just as good as it looks. If you are considering whether to buy the usual branded high street guitar offering, or to buy one of Robs guitars, I wholeheartedly say take the plunge with Rob. You get a hand crafted, one of a kind, much higher quality and tone guitar...it's worth every penny when you hold and play them...and Rob was super helpful and knowledgable too, so it's a no brainer :-)

Have used Rob for work on three guitars now. Always thorough and talks through requirements in great detail, suggesting improvements were necessary and also telling me when things were not necessary. do have another project for him but not sure when I’m going to get around to it

Just collected my beautiful Kiso Suzuki 9512 from Rob. It’s almost 50 years old and Rob has done a wonderful restoration for me. Re-fret, bone bridge and pins, bone nut, new Gotoh 21:1 ratio machine heads. Absolutely blown away by the standard of workmanship.The guitar plays and sounds stunning. This man is a proper Luthier and I for one can’t thank him enough. He really knows his stuff.
