Shops like this, a dying breed sadly, need all the support and good will passed on. I've been to the shop twice over time(my mother worked on Portobello Road for 51 years so the area is Ultra familiar.) The same chap I spoke to was very knowledgeable, not patronising ,well priced, and some gems.Good luck luck and all the very best. You deserve it! Great shop!

A London musical stalwart packs a potent punch for a pint-size. An eclectic and astute inventory may be limited but avoids belabouring the obvious, predictable and the ho-hum. Here, likely find the unexpected, more obscure and perhaps unfamiliar. Staff are approachable, sussed and pleasant. Premier league outfit.

Excellent shop, great range of records - and they really live up to their name. I visited their shop and like I kid in a candy store ended up buying a large number of records. including 3 and 4 of the collection. "London Is The Place For me. In the chaos of me chucking records from the racks at them they accidently pout the discs for parts 1 and 2 in the covers. When I rang to ask if they could sell me the discs for 3 & 4 in the sleave for 1 & 2, they refused, but just said: " No we will post the correct disks and sleave to make upothe set free of charge. Fantastic place.

Just left HJ with bombs...literal bombs to kill off soundman. Old skool record shop service. Tell the guy what you like, he brings out a pile, you listen, say ye or nay and come out with a stack of double dope freshness. Record shops take note. This is what I come to record shops for. To take all the knowledge of the staff. To listen through their loves and see what will be my loves. Thank you HJ for remembering what a record shop is all about.

The Portobello site is easily THE best record shop in London wearing it's long standing heritage well and providing an ever fascinating selection. This is the standard that all the recent new arrival shops should aspire to - none are even close yet. Their online service is friendly, efficient and very good value

By far one of the greatest treats when visiting London is to visit Honest Jon's. Great selection available and well organised stock. Very polite, helpful staff on hand. We don't get that in Sheffield from our independent store.

Great store with the awesome collection of reggae, dub, blues, jazz, dance, funk, soul etc. vinyls and CD's (constantly stocking). Very reasonable prices and a bit bellow the neighbouring vendors. Must visit if you hang around the Portobello Rd. and love music!

Still one of the best record stores in the world, a deep and eclectic collection of vinyl from all over the globe and staff with an overwhelming knowledge of music. Great location and fantastic atmosphere, but get down early because the store is small and can get busy.

Bought my first ever DNB single here.. I had a recording off the radio on cassette and the guys played it and identified the track instantly - roni size, brown paper bag.... I bought the single on the spot with my proceeds from working the market outside... this shop has a special place in my heart!

I ordered a vinyl from their site only to receive an email reply from Honest Jons stating that unfortunately the record was no longer in stock. HJ offered me a full refund but promised to keep an eye out for a replacement in time for Christmas. Sure enough, they found the record I was searching for and delivered it securely and promptly giving me plenty of time to wrap it before I gifted it. It sounds like they don't update their online stock frequently enough as I'm not the only user to experience this (which can be frustrating) but it's the only fault I can find with their service.

Not possible to listen to records on your own. Possibility to hear at the counter. You are being served by the seller, but not very gently not impolite nonetheless. You can not take your time considering the duration of the hearing almost inviting to get out...I was the only customer at the time though. Unfortinate, positive side, records selection seems to be astonishing. But if you cannot hear them and take time like a digger. What is the point Which means I preferred to spend money elsewhere but there... maybe it was the wrong day

Honest Jon's holds an eclectic selection from obscure soundtrack and catalogue music through folk, jazz, soul and electronica to world and of course reggae. Just the place to find that Sam Dees prog soil album my wife had as a teenager. A Japanese import CD for £8!!. Staff very friendly and helpful. Carry on up to the Golbourne road for a coffee and pastry and an eyeful of the Trellick Tower.
