Reviews of The Guitar Social
J. Š.
Having played guitar in my past within academic environment I have to say The Guitar Social club opened my eyes with their amazing and vibrant atmosphere with company of great people. Lessons are really fun and easy to follow. Feel really motivate just after few classes and my connection to the instrument greatly improved!

Completed the beginners course with Guitar Social and loved it. Was initially not sure about learning Guitar in a group, but I actually found myself learning more than I would have done on my own. It's very relaxed and Thomas is very knowledgable, will definitely be coming back for the intermediate course later this year!

I started a course in Jan as a beginner with Thomas and I can already play 5 songs!.. with simple chords :) both Thomas and Fiona are really lovely and they really know how to teach whilst having fun! I'd highly recommend dropping at one of their Thursday's open mic! Tons of fun and talent for free!!!

I had noticed Guitar Socials for a while on Meet-Up and finally made the jump. And what a blast!
As a beginner, Thomas a Fiona make playing guitar very easy and straight forward. We played a few songs by the end of the first class, and 8 weeks forward some student are already on stage at the evening events thrown by TGS!
Having the best time learning new skills and meeting new friends. I highly recommend!

An amazing place to learn guitar and meet new people. Thomas and Fiona are fantastic teachers and The Guitar Social offers so much more than your bog-standard guitar tuition. When you do a course you get access to free parties and events at the venue, open mic nights, and loads of online practice material. If you haven't done a Guitar Social course - you are missing out!

Had a great time tonight! I joined on to the beginners course a couple weeks late, but Fiona was great at running me up to speed before the class. Tom was a great instructor, and managed to get us to cover lots of ground in a short space of time. The group was super freindly and relaxed, and im looking forward to going back next week!

I'm back for my second series of the Joy of the Jam. After not playing with others for over 30 years, these sessions are reminding me just how inspiring and enjoyable jamming can be. Thomas leads the sessions with huge enthusiasm and a great deal of humour. The support of his impressive musical knowledge is ever present - but this never gets in the way of our desire just have fun and be playing.

Only been going 2 weeks but it's a great environment with good pacing throughout the lessons. The community is quite helpful + open to learn so it's really a great space for anyone wanting to hone their guitar chops!

Is it a guitar school? A social events group? A music workshop for all ages and abilities? An open, non-judgemental route to performing? A holiday club that includes jamming on guitars around the campfire?
Well–it's all these and more.
The Guitar Social is built around founder & lead tutor Thomas (plus TGS Business Director, Fiona, originally one of its earliest students). Patient and passionate, Thomas and his relaxed, friendly temperament get the best from beginners to improvers and beyond.
Personally for me, one core strength of The Guitar Social is that Thomas realises what most tutors and courses never do – we can all learn fast and well when we play whole songs together and discover as a group how to make them work.
Thomas and TGS guest tutors will always tend to teach music theory for guitar, and focus too on scales, chord voicings, correct rhythm, licks, riffs, parts, soloing etc, but with a tendency to make it about the fun and learning gains when students jam together on great songs instead of staring at a white board and not playing much music.
Jamming songs in similar or mixed ability groups helps TGS students become functioning musicians who have built useful real world skills and experience across many sessions similar to how working musicians rehearse and workshop songs.
And you will have the opportunity to build live experience too if you wish – solo or with your term group or with others of your choice, in a safe, positive environment, with friendly fellow students as your audience. Never any pressure and just one example of where TGS delivers extra value.
They are really worth trying. I haven't even done full justice here to all the different activities they do.

The Guitar Social's courses are some of the most enjoyable I've done. I have learnt so much from taking part in their Beginners Guitar, Improvers Guitar, and Intermediate Guitar Classes. I love the social element surrounding everything The Guitar Social does. I would also recommend getting Patreon membership because of all the songwriting, singing, and confidence workshops you get through their Patreon.

Very friendly learning environment, was a bit nervous to play with a group having not played socially for many years, but it was super relaxed, and I learnt a lot in the first session. Looking forward to the next session!

This is such a relaxed, fun atmosphere to learn guitar in. I highly recommend. Wonderful teachers too

This exactly what I was hoping it would be.
A fun and engaging way of learning a new instrument at a lovely venue, with great people and great teaching. Thoroughly recommended.

Great guitar lessons, and great vibe on their events happening on site. Highly recommended!

Had an absolutely fabulous time, as I do every year with Band Camp. Even if you are not musically gifted, or not guitar addicted, Bamp Camp is still a great place to meet people & enjoy the outdoors.

The Guitar Social is a fantastic place to learn music, find people to play with and play live. The team are incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about helping their students get better and better. I cannot recommend the team highly enough and the level of service is second to none. A great group of wonderful people that you should be part of. Courses cover a broad range of topics from beginners to more seasoned players.

The Guitar Social is such a friendly place to learn guitar. I've been playing in my bedroom for years and it's only through doing classes with them that I realised just how much I didn't know. Have levelled up considerably in a very short space of time!

Having tried to play for more than 20 years, and achieved very little, The Guitar Social is true leap forward. Thomas and the team are engaging, knowledgeable and make progressing in playing guitar a fun and structured way. It is a rare gem in the world of guitar tutoring and it is highly recommended to people of all levels. It also has the plus of meeting like-minded people that enjoy playing and enjoying music together

Thomas and Fiona create a great environment for those wishing to learn the guitar in a group setting. Beginner lessons push you but not at so great a rate to make it too daunting, they are really encouraging and make you feel welcome no matter your progress. I shall be more to the next course ASAP.
If you want to learn guitar give them a try.

The Guitar Social is unique, vibrant, edgy, always fun and uplifting. Where else could I get top quality guitar teaching alongside a jam in the park, fun Zoom guitar based games or an inspiring and sociable camping trip with lovely people? I'm just a beginner but Thomas and Fiona had me hooked from day one and I can't get enough of my guitar now. Best of all I'm enjoying the warm welcome and relaxed teaching style. Can't praise the Guitar Social enough.

I think that guitar social is a great place to learn guitar and meet new people. Thomas is a very knowledgeable teacher and he s able to break down the subject really well. I have changed several teachers in the past, I found that although they were excellent players they didn t have the patience to break down lessons the way Thomas as been able to. I would definitely recommended GS as the coolest place to be and learn guitar at the moment...

The guitar social is a great way to get expert tuition to improve your guitar skills in a large group of similar minded people you can share the journey with and connect with musically or otherwise. There are tons of courses to choose from as well as regular workshops and meetings. It's well worth checking out.

Been going to classes with the Guitar Social now for a couple of years and learnt a lot of stuff in a very friendly environment. The lessons are good fun and you also meet a lot of like minded people. Highly recommended.

Thanks to The Guitar Social , I am living my dream after years of longing to play the guitar but feeling too scared to go for it. I am loving it. The classes are so enjoyable. The teaching support and guidance are fantastic. I can ask questions comfortably and confidently. The reality of learning to play is so much better than the dream. This feeling comes from knowing I am in the best possible place to learn.
D. S.
I've been with the Guitar Social almost since it started and my guitar playing has improved immensely, from stuck in a rut Intermediate to.....something a whole lot better. Thomas is a superb teacher and most important of all, he makes it fun. I've acquired some music theory, made new friends, performed in public, heard some dreadful jokes and best of all, had the time of my life jamming songs old and new in pubs all over London. What's not to like!
M. M.
guitar social is exactly that, the best social guitar fun ever. Thomas can get any size group to have a great jam together, classes are interesting and fun and there are so many extra social events where we perform, jam, party and meet really great people. Thomas's character draws people who are warm, friendly, kind and laid back so whatever we do together, the atmosphere rocks. If you want to play guitar and jam with great people with the bonus of fun social gatherings and guitar travel adventures then sign yourself up for the best guitar experience ever :-)

A very inclusive diverse community that made me feel a part of it instantly. The learning pace is tailored to your level of guitar playing, and you get tons of resources and learning materials to ensure you stick to practice. There is also a great opportunity to develop confidence and skills playing to the guitar social community.
J. B.
I found the courses program very well curated and leaving enough room for spontaneous playing. I definitely made progress and enjoy playing guitar through my time with TGS. I also meet great colleagues and enjoy the social aspects of the guitarists community. The TGS concept and atmosphere is great for me.
S. C.
The lessons are great fun, the resources are excellent and I'm learning more than ever before. On top of that, there are loads of opportunities to get together and play with other students. Best guitar lessons I've ever had.
J. R.
Thomas has brought together a large and diverse group of guitarists, of all abilities, ages, genders and backgrounds. It's a very friendly and encouraging community. There are a broad set of lessons from blues to fingerstyle, encompassing differing levels of expertise.

Because it is not only the coolest Guitarists group but because they embrace all people all ages All musics so whatever your style you will have a platform to learn through classes or just play, perform live, form bands and jam galore with other members also through band camps and guitars held in UK and abroad What’s there not to like!! . I looked long and hard and TGS Is the best in my view !
J. G.
TGS is so much more than just a place to learn guitar - it's an always inspiring community of musicians that keeps getting better with every new person joining! Online or in real life, TGS is 100% fun, and you’re really part of something, not just another student in a faceless guitar class. The classes, events and retreats are amazing, and there’s jams and bands all around, turning shy bedroom hermits into pub gig rockstars. I could go on, but maybe you should just try it out for yourself.
S. B.
This a great place and a great way to learn the guitar. I would recommend to anyone. Of course there might be frustrating times when your query hasn't been exactly anticipated or there is something you can't get your head around but these challenges make it more worthwhile in fact. "It's a way of life!" to quote Good Vibrations.

Thomas and Fiona are both awesome! I have already started playing and experimenting the newly learnt chords with songs that I always wanted to learn and that's just within 1 month! If you always wanted to learn to play the guitar.. would def highly recommend learning from Thomas!
R. C.
I went for a trial lesson which was fantastic! There was no judgement on my guitar level and the atmosphere was welcoming and felt like a jam with friends!
Highly reccomend to anyone interested in improving their guitar skills!

I have been really impressed with the quality of the lessons and the material. Thomas has a great teaching style, and the new venue is cool.

Loads of energy and spirit and fun - great value and sense of community. Plus I'm really improving on the guitar finally! Thank you!

Thomas and Fiona are a great team to work with and learn guitar from. They're always prompt to respond and passionate about teaching music and making a difference!

Friendly, effective teaching, clearly explained and a fun easy going atmosphere. Nice variety of music to learn too.

TGS is the best place (virtually and IRL!) to learn guitar and meet like-minded musical people.

Great content, patient teacher, fun lessons and was made to feel welcome and at ease. I learnt loads!
