I will always remember my first lesson with Paul Hose, He opened my eyes to a new level of playing and how my drumming idols achieved there seemingly impossible chops and licks! each lesson Paul helped me grow, giving me guidance with what i needed to work on, and also helping me advance in areas i wished to pursue.
With a wealth of knowledge not only as a teacher but as a performer as well, Paul is capable of teaching any student from beginner to Pro and has something to offer everyone.
I am now a professional Drummer/Musical director working on ships and theatres and continue to do so, without Paul's Guidance as a student and a friend I wouldn't be the player i am today.
I Also worked With Paul at his ever expanding School of music MLC-Academy, Its a fantastic place for students to learn, with a high caliber of teacher, top equipment and the security of a large business. These teachers can give you everything you need to become an accomplished player, then see Paul and he will make you exceptional.

In the short time I have been learning with Paul, I have progressed far beyond what I was thought possible with the drums. His lessons are bespoke to the student’s skills and ability and are taught in an enjoyable and relaxed learning environment. The studio is well equipped with everything someone would want to learn, and I felt I was able to progress with my own personal choices in pieces with minimal hurdles. I can highly recommend Paul as a teacher, whether you are just starting out or wish to develop your music to a professional level. If you are going to choose a drum teacher, then Paul is the one to go for in Nottingham!

Paul is a fantastic educator and drummer. Lessons with him are always fun and laid back but full of knowledge and useful tips. In the past few years he has helped me pass grade 8 with flying colours and begin both a performance and teaching diploma to further enhance my own career. Strongly recommend any serious drummers study with Paul. His depth of knowledge is outstanding!

My son had been playing drums for a few years, achieving a distinction at Grade 8 under the RockSchool syllabus. He came to Paul to take his drumming on to a new level, not just in terms of achieving a further qualification, which he did achieving a distinction at Grade 8 under the Trinity syllabus, but also to improve technical aspects of his drumming.
Paul has significantly improved his hand technique, instilled in him a positive attitude to proper, structured practice (which seemed unlikely before Paul taught him...), and introduced him to aspects and styles of drumming that he just hadn't covered before!
We couldn't be happier with the difference Paul made to our son's drumming. It helps that Paul is a really nice guy and easy to deal with, but it is his knowledge and passion for drumming that make him stand out as an absolutely first rate teacher.

Paul was my drum teacher for a number of years, and helped me achieve a distinction in my Trinity Guildhall grade 8 for the drums. Having been to a number of teachers of the years, Paul was the first in whom I saw the same passion, drive and deep grasp of the instrument that I felt in myself. Very few teachers before looked into the drums with the same depth as Paul, and each one-hour lesson with him felt like a miniature master class, in which we would explore concepts, discuss techniques, and debate the approaches of others drummers.
Aside from the technical approach, Paul’s experience has proven invaluable to me as his student. The number of bands, musicians and people he has worked with meant that he was able to provide an insight into many areas of the instrument beyond the artistic side. He was able to provide an authentic look into how things such as big bands, orchestras and function acts actually work. Furthermore, due to his industry contacts (which should really be read as ‘friends’), Paul’s reach, influence and reputation have managed to not only open doors for himself, but for me as his student. The fact that he has published works which now feature on some remarkable reading lists, not least of all Berklee College, only adds to the sense that this is a teacher who really knows his drumming.
As a player, Paul is powerful, solid and often explosive. With a flair for latin, funk and soul grooves, his big sound and keen touch has seen him prop up some great bands over the years. Now, as a touring clinician and Natal/Marshall educator, Paul’s playing sees him playing all over the world. It is always a joy to watch him perform, either with a band or on his own.
Despite this, Paul remains humble, and always willing to share his success with others, in the form of opportunities, lessons, or simply hilarious anecdotes from behind the scenes of some rather famous people.
I would recommend Paul as a teacher to anybody serious about improving their own playing, and as a player to any band, artist or musician who has need of a drummer for any reason. While it is easy to exaggerate in these circumstances, it would not be inaccurate to state that I would not be the drummer I am today if not for Paul’s influence and my time spent as his student.

Five years ago I was looking for a drum teacher to help me progress with my playing. What I didn’t expect after finding Paul was the passion and talent he passed on to me. Paul’s approach to learning the drum kit transformed the way I thought about music in general. Not only the feel of my playing, but the way I phrased sections of it. Ultimately encouraging me to be more musical.
Over the past five years Paul has become a true friend, we now share many musical situations. Last year I embarked on my first ever clinic tour with Paul and I was truly honored to share a stage with such greatness. Although he treats me as an equal, I am forever learning whilst in his presence.
A few years back Paul released Drum Set For Beginners. This book is a must for any drum teacher. Paul has taught me how to use this book and because of this, I am a better teacher. My teaching practice now consists of over 45 private students per week including daytime teaching in schools. The combination of this book and the excellent teaching method Paul provides within the pages is the reason for my success.
For any drummer, passion and the belief of success is key. This I have received from Paul Hose.
If your drumming needs a push in the right direction, I highly recommend you contact Paul Hose.

Paul is an amazing teacher and will really help you achieve where you want to be in your drumming career. His knowledge and experience really comes through when you meet him and it is a absolute pleasure to be working so close with some one so passionate about what he does. Whatever you need help with Paul will get you there. One of the best teachers out there for sure!

Paul is a highly dedicated and deeply passionate teacher. It's incredible how much I improved under his guidance. He knows how to adapt to students' needs, level, and music projects. Openly inspired by the Jim Chapin's method, he will make you practice technique in a very rigorous way and apply this technique in all styles of music and improvisation. Having lessons with him is both challenging and fun!

Having Played the drums for a number of years I decided to go to Paul to further myself as a drummer, and see what options are available to me. I started lessons again in April 2014, and started working on my Grade 8 in September, to which Paul got me through with a Merit in December. Lessons are fun and relaxed, but you go away from them having learned a lot.

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Hose back in 2011. His passion for drum education was very apparent to me. He had just published another work at the time and continued to engage in conversations about further drum education. Ever since, I have seen Paul carry out and present inspirational drum instruction through out many different countries!
One thing that innovative artists and educators do, is adapting with the times. This is one aspect to Paul's understanding as entrepreneur which is invaluable. He is searching for ways to make drum education deliverable through a variety channels, as well as the use of updated technology. Thus, I was honoured when he asked me to author and present some drum courses of my own. There was a feeling of direction and stability once Paul presented his MLC-U (Music Learning Collective-University).
Paul Hose exemplifies passion, integrity, and professionalism in a time and industry where these combined traits are a rarity. Just as in any professions, those who put the time into their craft eventually rise to the top. He has put the hours in to the craft of playing and teaching drums, (which is also rare). There are many great performers who do not have a solid grasp on the delivery of pedagogy. On the other hand, there are knowledgable instructors who can explain, but have not sharpened the craft of playing the instrument. Mr. Hose does both exceptionally well! There is no doubt that Paul will continue to rise as an educator and performer. I constantly search for such like-minded professionals to collaborate and partner with; seldom coming across high quality professionals. Paul Hose is one of the handful of such like-minded professionals!

After drumming for close to twenty years, I've now found myself in the position of trying to pass some of that knowledge and passion on to my children. I've got stacks of books, sheet music and videos at my disposal yet somehow was still lacking the perfect means to portray the basics to them. Looking back on my own drumming journey I owe so much to Paul who taught me in the early years. Seeing he'd released a book aimed at beginners I knew it would be perfect for my children. The book breaks the fundamental basics down in a way they can understand and is helping them take the first, most important and hardest hurdle on their own drumming journeys. I'd recommend this book to anyone, it's only now that I'm having to go back to the basics that I fully appreciate how many books out there miss the mark with beginners and especially children, yet Paul's nailed it. This is the perfect book for any beginners, covering the basics over a range of styles in an approachable way, avoiding throwing the reader in to the deep end which would lead to most giving up. As well as the book, I would thoroughly recommend lessons with Paul or with his school of teachers. If you're from Notts and serious about becoming a better drummer, better call Paul...

I've been going to see Paul for drum lessons for over 5 years. The hour I spend with him each week has accelerated my learning tremondously. The sessions are very interactive and he has a knack of being able to break things down into learnable chunks. In addition to the music I like to play (rock, metal) Paul has stretched my musical vocabularly and taken me on tours of latin, funk and pop that I wouldn't have done under my own steam. An absoluately brilliant teacher!

I have watched so many of Paul's students blossom into professional musicians, many of them going on to become brilliant and successful tutors themselves. If that's not all the assurance you need to feel that you're in good hands, then let me tell you that Paul is THE MAN when it comes to recording and performing drum parts too, regardless of the style or complexity, I know that when I need someone I can trust in the driving seat behind me, Paul is my first call, he has performed on at least 3 of my solo instrumental albums, countless live shows and delivered EVERYTIME. A seasoned, well-traveled veteran of the World's biggest tradeshows, a respected clinician and above all else, a lovely human being who enriches everyone he comes into contact with with his earnest determination, interest in the welfare and progression of anyone who needs him and his infectious sense of humour. I implore you to work with this man!

Paul Hose is an excellent, interesting, and wise tutor! The MLC which is ran by Paul Hose, is full of great connections and like minded musicians. Id highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning to play an instrument to speak with Paul to kick start a great a career.

Paul Hose is a fantastic, skilled and wise musician, and an extraordinary educator. He has the ability to teach you anything you'd like to learn. He has improved my technical ability vastly and can broaden and improve anybody's playing. His teaching methods are without fault. Plus he's a top bloke, a great friend and a very funny man!

I've known Paul in a professional capacity for little over 13 years and have started recently starting being taught by him once again after a ten year hiatus. The difference this time is that instead of being face to face, we use Skype/Google Hangouts as I now live in London.
I picked up the sticks again three years ago and became frustrated by the brick wall I'd hit technically and musically so decided that going back to lessons was the fix. My first thought wasn't to Google drum teachers in London, it was to contact Paul. I'm sure there are plenty of experienced teachers in London, however I decided that I didn't want to be taught by anyone else.
Paul's experience exudes through his coaching abilities, his knowledge of technique along with his down to earth explanations make his lessons tangible as well as enjoyably challenging. He's played with (and against!) some technical greats and legendary names so you know there's pedigree in what's you're being taught.
Weather you're starting out as I did with Paul 13 years ago or refining/expanding as I'm doing now, I wouldn't go anywhere else. The fact that you can be anywhere in the world with just a practice pad, Skype and WiFi is amazing. I would implore anyone who is considering lessons to give it a go with Paul and MLC, you wont be disappointed.

The MLC is a great play to learn and discover music whatever age you are. Paul Hose and teachers are friendly and walking musical/technical encyclopedias which make the lessons stand out from many other music schools. The support while working towards exam or diplomas are amazing. Thank you :)

I've been taught by Paul for the last 4 years, and have enjoyed every second of it... His knowledge is second to none, and undoubtedly I'll be with him another 4 years.. His depth of knowledge is such that I know I'll only be touching the sides in that 4 years!
I can't recommend him enough, without a doubt he is the British answer to the likes of Gadd, Lang and crew! Worthy praise indeed.
