Dave is an incredible guitar teacher and the vast range of materials and musical knowledge that he has is unbelievable. He tailors each lesson to you and teaches you how to play the style of music that you want to learn. Every lesson is thoroughly enjoyable and I look forward to it each week.
I would highly recommend Dave to anyone thinking about learning to play guitar.

Dave's relaxed style coupled together with him teaching you with music you love really enables you to continue to feel motivated. It's no secret that learning to play the guitar is difficult but in this way you can connect with what you're learning to play which just adds that extra bit of love in what you're doing and really makes the time spent practicing enjoyable and worth it.
I feel motivated and positive after each weekly session with Dave and this is vital because with out this I probably would have given up by now.
His knowledge of the guitar, music in general and his ability to adapt songs in to something you can manage make lessons enjoyable and something to look forward to. Dave is patient and has a great sense of humour and I would implore anyone wanting to learn the guitar to visit Dave and see for themselves- you won't be disappointed!

I have to share my experience learning with Dave. I made contact looking to learn a new skill after being bought a ukulele at Christmas. Contacting Dave was the best decision I made, what a great welcome and I was playing within minutes and I haven't looked back since.I'm now on the guitar and absolutely loving it. Dave takes great care of you and has you laughing as well as learning. If your looking to start and a little nervous don't be Dave is a great teacher provides a warm welcome and is a decent bloke so try it you never know you could be playing your favourite songs within a few weeks. 5 stars easy!

My twelve year old son, Charlie has been having private guitar lessons with Dave for nearly two years. My son started with absolutely no experience playing any instrument after being bought a guitar for his birthday. Dave helped Charlie learn how to hold the guitar, how to recognize the cords, how to read sheet music and how to play the beat along side a vocal track. I enjoy listening to Charlie and Dave play together weekly. Charlie has a passion for music and enjoys his music lessons not only for the rhythm but also for the jokes he can crack with Dave. Dave seems to have a wide range of clients from young children to grownups coming to learn from his vast experience in music. I would highly recommend Dave as a guitar teacher to anyone. Worth every penny. :)

I've been studying with Dave for over a year now and it has been a truly amazing experience. I have never met anyone with such a fantastic knowledge of music and a truly individualised teaching style. Dave will teach you the music that you want to learn, in a way that has you playing right from lesson one. Every session is as fun as the last it's more like popping round to a mate's house with the added bonus of rocking some tunes while you're there. Dave has done wonders for my confidence too. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone thinking of picking up a guitar either for fun or if you are looking for serious tutoring. This guy has it covered!

Dave is a very talented guitarist with a clear passion for music. He has a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm that he conveys during every lesson. His expert tuition gives you the freedom to learn whatever suits your style, whilst increasing your ability.
I really look forward to every lesson and feel that I am improving each time – Dave is a very patient and positive teacher who is always optimistic about my progress, he has a very good ear and a great eye for detail.
Each lesson is conducted in a calm, relaxed, friendly and fun atmosphere; the vast library of source material available helps to ensure that I remain interested and motivated to carry on my guitar journey.
Highly recommended and fantastic fun! If you are in any doubt about whether to book lessons.... get in touch with Dave and you will never look back.

My 8 year old son has been having lessons from Dave for 2 years. Having researched local music schools, I was keen to find an independent and professional music teacher for my son. My son began learning the ukulele at the age of 6 before progressing onto the guitar, a year later. Dave has been a real inspiration to my son! He has really helped my son to develop confidence with music, encouraging him to explore all types of ukulele and guitar music. During the school holidays, Dave has also encouraged my daughter to join in by singing along and both children have enjoyed some musical duets! I would highly recommend Dave to any parent who is considering ukulele or guitar lessons for their children.

Dave is a great guitar teacher, he develops skills using music matched to your interests whether you like blues, rock, pop etc. He caters to all levels of skill from beginner to advanced, if your interested he also will put you in for exams. He's a teacher who will go the extra mile for each pupil not only improving your skill but also widening your knowledge of music. I would highly recommend him, an excellent teacher.

Dave has taught Richard since he was in year 4 at primary school, initially the ukelele in a group class and since leaving primary school, for the last 4 years guitar on a one to one basis. Dave has a great knowledge of a wide range of music and instrumental styles, and his relaxed approach really puts Richard at ease and gets the best out of him during the lessons, which he really looks forward to each week. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dave to anybody who is considering learning to play the ukelele or guitar

I played guitar for nearly two years before going to lessons with Dave, he has a comfortable and relaxed way of teaching, tailored to everyone's individual needs and gains. He taught me some 90s grunge songs so is capable of many genres, along with teaching me other material. He got rid of my bad habits from self-playing, I'm at uni now and wishing I had more lessons cause they were really helpful.

If you want to learn to play guitar Dave is your man. No question. I have wanted to for years and, having tried myself on and off (never really even learning one chord and stumbling around making absolutely no sense of the billions of youtube potentials) my wife bought me some lessons from Dave for Christmas last year. I played a song with Dave after 30 minutes. Next lesson I learned another. And this has been repeated week after week. 3 months in I had made more progress than I ever imagined possible and now 10 months in I'm learning things I assumed would be years away.
Dave's style of teaching 'music and song based learning' sounds obvious but not everyone teaches that way. If you want to learn to PLAY your guitar to whatever styles of music you love - choose Dave. Not only is he an amazing musician and teacher he is a great guy to get to know and have in your life.
I'm 38 and he's taught an old dog new tricks, not a problem. Through his work in schools he is also a specialist at teaching kids.
What more can I say - speak to him one and you'll know.
Stop talking about it and learn guitar - you will be AMAZED at what it brings to your life.

I've known Dave for too many years to want to remember! His selection of guitar strings are highly recommended - hand made and a great tone. Nice to know there is a local stockist. Already re-strung my guitar with a set.
Having played alongside Dave both as a duo and, having supported him as a solo act alongside others at acoustic gigs, such as the Nick Drake Tribute night in Leyland, I can honestly say he is a consummate professional - whatever the genre: Country, folk, acoustic or electric, slide or finger style.
I was already a performing musician when I first met Dave on the circuit but having known him for a long time I can certainly support what others say about him here and would like to add my voice to his reviews as an experienced player. It's important to learn from an experienced and attentive teacher. Bad habits are what they are and when you first learn it is important to progress in the right way with objectives and the right guidance.
If you are looking for an experienced guitar teacher, with a dizzying array of resources, such as audio and notation books, he is my first and last recommendation.
Why? Experience, knowledge, ability and a true passion for music. He does exactly what it says on the tin (to use someone else's metaphor).

Dave took the time to listen to what I want from guitar lessons and then structured them to suit my needs. He is always cheerful and enthusiastic, makes you feel good about learning and is incredibly encouraging.
I would recommend anyone seeking guitar lessons at any level to give Teach Guitar Preston a call!

If there was one thing in my life I wanted to achieve, it was to learn how to play the guitar. Like most people I had procrastinated for years, then one Christmas my wife bought me a guitar as a present. This was the push I really needed!
To get myself started I bought a couple of books and started to practice at home; unfortunately my progress was slow and frustrating.
Not deterred I decided that it was time for me to invest in some lessons with a professional tutor and started my search. I found Dave on the internet and after a quick telephone call I booked myself a lesson at his home address. It was very evident when entering his house and seeing his accolades and memorabilia that he was a very experience and accomplished guitar tutor/player and that was reassuring. His calm, patient and friendly manner helped me settle into my lesson.
I have now been attending his lessons for 18 months. I now have a dedicated time each week to focus on my guitar without any distractions. Each week Dave gives me new material to practice that not only keeps me motivated, but pushes me to the next level. I really look forward to my lessons and it is definitely a highlight of my week! I just want to thank Dave because I honestly believe that without his help I would not have achieved the level I have.

After playing guitar for 30 years I thought it was high time I learned how to actually play the thing.
Spent quite a lot of time trying to find the right teacher, Dave stood out with his folk and fingerpicking experience, and his enthusiasm for music and helping his students achieve what they want.
Dave has an uncanny knack of picking out pieces to learn which are challenging, but not impossible, and leave you with a real feeling of achievement.
My playing has improved massively over the past few months, and I'm discovering music that is great fun to play. I do a 2 hour round trip to get to my lesson, and for the right teacher it's well worth it.

I have been with Dave for 3 years now. I have made great progress in that time and achieved all my goals…. Dave has now set new ones! He is very patient and easy to get along with and teaches in a relaxed friendly atmosphere which has helped enormously. I look forward to the sessions. Highly recommended.

I've been going to Dave for guitar lessons for 4/ 5 years and he is a fantastic tutor, down to earth, reasonable and can have a laugh. A large music range of genres to teach, fantastic tutor that I can't fault.

Top teacher my daughter has had lessons since primary school passing various exams.
His style is very relaxed and tailored to the student. I love his enthusiasm for music and knowledge which always results in a interesting chat at the end.

Highly recommended. I had no experience at all, Dave made me feel welcomed and relaxed. I cannot believe how far I have come in so a short time.
