Reviews of The Lanes

This place is great. Great bowling, great pizza. Blast the karaoke 🎤. Then dance when the DJ turns up.
R. J.
I booked a lane for my hen weekend and we arrived 5 minutes early. We were told by a rather rude member of staff that we would have to wait our turn. We ended up going back to the bar ourselves to check if our lane was now ready. We were told yes but not that we had to log our names in at the bar. We got there in the end and we had a good time but there was quite a lot of faff involved.
T. H.
Went to play some pool in mid- Dec. It's endearingly scruffy with a lively but unpretentious atmosphere. There was a nice mix of people in there and a good selection of beers. Some massive, fresh pizzas were brought out to a big group near us which smelt great. The staff were lovely - friendly and helpful. Just a shame the white ball on our pool table had been nicked and they didn't have a spare. The lads playing pool next to us said their bowling lane had broken. I'd go back provided I'm in the mood to go with the flow!
E. S.
Ok, acquired taste... great bar staff tho 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 and very inclusive and acceptive, very inviting in a way, and as in the whole of Bristol, very acceptive of whatever you are of where you've came from!
I admire that in a town ☝🏼
A. P.
Really nice venue for a group to visit.
Bowling was great fun and set-up before we’d arrived so we could get straight to the game.
Great selection of drinks. Particularly liked the Elderflower cider.
T. P.
Always a great time at The Lanes! Really good atmosphere. Good selection of beers. 5 classic bowling lanes. Not tried the food but want to as it always looks good! Definitely recommend going!
S. P.
Nice place, friendly staff and quite a few options of draught beers to enjoy.
For the bowling the lanes are a bit short. That means it's easier for amateurs and people who play for the first time.
Book online and enjoy.
C. W.
Absolutely great time. Our game was timed precisely so we didn't finish it by the cut off time. I'd advise, if you are with a chatty fun group of people, reserve 2 hours to make sure you enjoy the game and the silliness and fun of good company without the game ending abruptly.
(Originally I was going to give 4 stars just because I had no clue we wouldn't be able to finish the game. Maybe that reflects how often I bowl?)
5 stars for the service, atmosphere and delicious food 😋!
The pizza: fantastic! Vegan, veggie and meat options! Everyone enjoyed their food and the crust is sooo good! Ghank you!
T.
Had many fun nights out here and used their karaoke rooms which was great fun! Definitely recommend for a birthday or social event
K. W.
Fun place, decent prices. Would be 5* had sister and I not both put our hands in vomit on a toilet stall door, but the bar staff were at least apologetic, and friendly.
P.
Great venue for a works night out, ten pin bowling, lots of seating outside in a courtyard and you are able to order pizzas on an app to your table
W. P.
Good place to go with friends for a few games of bowling but no bottle larger and the draft Pils was undrinkable by everyone in our group
K. W.
Odd pizza flavours, but tasty. Drinks are ok. Bowling was good fun, too. Live music was good
A. E.
It's bowling, with beer, food and loud music, the best way to experience it. Always a good laugh and can create great tension, as you can see. The games can be a bit pricey, so I'd recommend to go Sunday. Also, book if you can.
R. C.
Great night out. Decent beer, good outdoor space and often a live band playing. Bowling lanes are small but cosy. Food is also good - with the pizzas standing out most. However it can get busy and the bar is small.
D. M.
The staff are friendly. The music has been great. The smoking area is dope too. And obviously bowling - sick. But the layout is awful. The bar is right next to the stage & bowling access and it gets savagely crowded. And you end up with people trying to dance clashing with people trying to force their way to the front to get drinks or make their way over to the bowling so what should be a dance floor is a maelstrom of people going in different directions. Its not unusual for many venues, its just particularly bad here when its even slightly busy. (I've experienced it every time I've gone there for music.)
Also their beer is sometimes hit & miss. I switched from bitburger to an IPA to another lager in search of a decent beer and each were not good and tasted a bit weird. Not ideal when you're paying a premium for a pint.
Other than that, it does host some great music and is an institution. Its just a shame the 'new' layout makes it a bit of a nightmare on busier nights.
S. P.
I came yesterday and received amazing service from Harry and Max. I had a bit of a dodgy pint at the beginning and it was replaced immediately, along with the next drinks on the house. It was such a lovely touch and really made my evening - cheers guys!
R. H.
We had a great time bowling. Everything is a little retro, but this adds to the laid-back atmosphere. Staff were friendly and the bar offered lots of choice. Would have given 5-stars if the cleanliness had been better. For mid-afternoon the toilets were pretty dirty, plus the seating areas could do with being cleaned between bowling groups as ours was very sticky. Other than that it was a good bit of fun.
S. B.
Visited for the Dot to Dot event. Never even knew it existed. Good small music venue must keep an eye out for band here and return.
A. D.
Love the Lanes, I don't think I've ever had a bad night here. I loved their 80s nights pre-covid and we ended up here recently on my birthday for a Jazz, Hip Hop and funk night and it was so much fun! Plenty of room to dance, no creeps so safe for us girls, and some absolute tunes being dropped. Bar service was quick and drinks very reasonable. The smoking area is large too so plenty of space for fresh (or not so fresh haha) air. There's also a Photobooth and a karaoke room you can pre-book. Thanks for a great evening.
R. C.
Great place for a night out. Good music with a pool table photo booth and a skittles alley should you want something different.
Has a great atmosphere, often spend some time here when out in bristol.
c. h.
Tasty pizzas & good beer. £16 for a pint, a 175ml glass of wine & a 6" pizza.
M. C.
Such a fun day out. The food looks amazing and very decently priced. Plenty of choice when it came to alcohol and the barmaid was very helpful. Bowling was our favourite part of this quirky hostel bar. For £4 a game each we had a couple of rounds and made a day of it. It gets busy but there's plenty too do while you wait your turn such as karaoke, ping-pong, pool table and there's even a photo booth. This place is definitely on my top things to do in Bristol list!
M. D.
Wicked little venue, awesome staff nice smoking area
N. P.
Great vibe, disgusting gin and tonic. Tastes like slimline. Bowling and pizza are top notch though
K. S.
Great pizza, no kids, and a proper bar that doesn't serve soft drinks in paper cups with a straw, what more could you want
s. b.
Great fun, friendly people and excellent value for money.
Pizzas are great and the bowling alley very good.
However the karaoke room smelled like a urinal and needs to be cleaned and a window opened.
S. H.
Good place for a casual bowling night. Bowling alley is quite old but had a good atmosphere. Ordered food after bowling which was good bar food. The bar got very busy around 7pm. Would recommend for a night out with friends
K. S.
This is my new hobby in Bristol. Playing bowling, and having some drinks from the in-built bar... In Lanes they are organising live music events and the price for Sunday nights is £22/hour, whereas all the wee days is £40/hour. 4 stars coming from the expensive price of week days, and because the bowling lanes, bowls and machinery are outdated if I compare it with other bowling centers that I have visited in UK and Greece! All in all a great and alternative nigh out in the Bristol center
p. l.
If you want a classic bowling experience, visit this place. Oh, and if you want beer and good music and entertainment with friends, get inside this place and get on the job. I went there before covid and it was hell of a place to be.
L. V.
Great little music venue. Friendly staff, good selection of drinks and heavy sound system.
G. R.
An excellent live music venue with helpful and friendly staff. Top establishment!
S. M.
Well done to all the staff, appreciate all the hard work for busy re-opening and great the venue is straight in there supporting live DJs and music again. The outdoor courtyard area is nicely set out, enjoyed the tunes and beers whilst keeping safe. The kitchen/food probably needs more support to keep up with demand but hopefully just teething problems. More food = more drinking so it's a win-win.
E. A.
Lots of outside space which is nice, way too crowded inside, bands aren't bad, dj's are seriously average, nothing to write home about.
A. T.
Good fun and super relaxed
Much nicer than modern bowling centres
J.
Great bar, always a lovely atmosphere and enjoyable time.
B. M.
One of the best venues and clubs in bristol. A real staple of the Bristol live music and club scene
P. H.
Good fun, short lanes, great beers, nice pizza
Y. T.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a nice live music in the back ground. Would return.
H. M.
I don't go here often enough! I recommend the pizza :-) Bowling prices are very reasonable, apparently they hire out rooms for karaoke- haven't tried it but sounds fun! Pool tables are decent and staff are always nice.
The cider isn't my fave, but with the decent outdoor space, nice staff and random gigs/ alt nights- what's not to love!
P. D.
The bowling is good, and the selection of draught beers is pretty good too. However, the general attitude of a few of the staff, and in particular the manager, really let's the venue down. Strange, as totally the opposite of any other hospitality venue I have visited in Bristol.
F. B.
Sticky ground. Okay pizza. Unclean toilets. Tasty pints.
E. _.
Great fun! Pizza, bowling and bar. Everything ran as it should and the staff were really helpful with setting up and running the bowling game. Will be back very soon!
T. B.
Fantastic venue. Hosted the Post Xmas Party for BARBIE (Bristol Association of Restaurants, Bars and Independent Establishments) on Sunday 7th Jan 2018. Amazing sound system, great staff and the pizzas are awesome.
D. S.
Current home of Phuct, a really long standing rock and metal night. Lovely venue, great facilities and banging tunes. What's not to love?
S. L. S. K.
Awesome place, staff super kind and 🍕 pizza is banging!
G. D.
Peculiar venue with bowling going on next to the music stage. Well above average range of beers make this a good place for a night out
A. B.
Just. Good. Fun.
Fair play to the staff you kill it xx
A. K.
Never got back to me regarding my booking enquiry and their phone lines are nonresponsive. Not much fun
P. P. #.
Great night out (Eighties disco) - drinks are overpriced though!
R. W.
Great fun venue for a birthday party, love the retro bowling alleys and the selection of beers and ciders was great.
We had pizzas to share which were absolutely massive and very tasty, some nice alternative toppings which was good too.
Nice atmosphere with bands playing and then a DJ later on. One of the more characterful venues in Bristol for sure.
P. N.
Great venue, good groups and good music for oldies like me.
G. D.
A nice enough bowling alley, though there are only a few lanes. Sometimes the pin-resetting machinery messes up a bit and knocks down one pin on the reset, but it's a good place apart from that. The pizzas are HUGE as well and delicious.
M. T.
Decent enough bar and seating area, with an outside option when the sun s shining. Trustworthy sources have told me that the pizzas are solid however I can't personally attest. Bowling alley is in good condition and you rent by the hour, although the lanes aren't regular length and it can be tough to get a ball with the right sized finger holes.
D. C. -. K.
Good beer. Good atmosphere and Boo Radleys
D. P.
First time I've been able to order a pint at the bar in God knows how long! Great selection of beers on tap, friendly bar staff
A. S.
Nice chilled bowling place, a rare survivor in the face of corporate chains which we see today everywhere. Reasonably priced food and drink. No complaints about the food. Open bowling lanes (above the ground unlike many others). I definitely liked the face that they are not too fussed about changing into their own shoes which is very fair and more places should do this. They said "change only if you feel more comfortable or if you have heels". Really good experience. Will definitely go back.
L. H.
Good fun, not too expensive for drinks, bowling is good. Music could do with be a little quieter though as the venue has a responsibility to it's punters to take care of their ears! Staff and security are lovely and love that you can play pool/snooker anytime
J. C.
Nice place but needs table service when you book a lane. Not enough time between turns to order drinks at the bar
N. H.
Great selection of beers and delicious pizza. Brilliant bowling, good for groups. Karaoke room is good fun too. Pool table and table football are fun too. Table football does have a smeary cover so it can be hard to see the ball at times but it's only 50p so hard to complain really.
Y. A. S.
Great fun! Booked a package which was well priced for a game of bowling, welcome drink and (massive) pizzas! Staff were very friendly and will be back again
H. B.
A nice little quaint venue with a old style bowling alley outback and a bar attached. The drink service on a club night is rather slow with a hefty price attached too. Combined with the cramped dance floor and lack of other areas to go, I'd say it only gets a 3 star rating
T. G.
Great place for bowling, pizza, booze and music. Also has karaoke if that takes your fancy.
Staff were great as they accidentally binned my full pint after leaving the karaoke room but offered me another one as a condolence.
D. L.
Very crowded, but have boiling , billiards and live music. Cheep prices.
C. M.
Good energy, decent music. Will be quite buzzy since there's a hostel nearby. Helpful bar staff as well.
R. V.
It is what it is. A place to play bowling and some other games. It's a place to go with friends and have a nice time. It's not clean, it's not pretty, it's not a place to bring your date. They have a good selection of drinks, pool, bowling, karaoke, foosball and some other stuff. They have many big tables, great for big groups of people, especially if they are waiting for their turn in some game.
L. L. -.
Beer, Pool, Karaoke and Bowling what's not to love!
S. E. K.
Dive bar vibe - in a good way. Laid back bowling, beer and even bands. But beware: there were children in there on a Friday night when I attended. It isn't really that kind of place. It's an adult space. I don't know of Bristol has Megabowl type places but that is where kids should be, not a dive bar.
Z. S.
Amazing value if you walk in and there are lanes available, was a great bunch of fun to have and chill with friends. For the price, I was definitely happy with the experience I received and the staff were nice and 'chill'.
As general advice, if you're planning on walking in - make sure you do so before 5PM and be careful on weekends as there may not be availability.
M. M.
Bohemian, low-key fun, hugely enjoyable bowling experience. Only 5 lanes, quieter and easier to focus on the activity. Fifty % students but popular with families and groups of friends. Reasonably priced. Not as prestigious as the big Alleys but I prefer that despite the place needing an upgrade. Honestly though, a gem of a find. I will go again and again. A blast from the past. Happy such places can stand alone against the corporate megapowers.
B. L.
An intimate little venue to enjoy a gig. Nice outdoor area for drinking
A. R.
A relaxed and fun restaurant/bar/bowling alley/karaoke/pool venue based in an old office in the heart of Bristol. Lots of groups of people having fun. Live music sometimes. Pretty basic decor and a down to earth menu (decent pizzas to share). Good range of beer and other drinks. Rough around the edges but lots to enjoy if you want to let your hair down!
R. E.
Really nice place to go bowling. It's 45 quid per lane which is up to 6 people for 1 hour. There's 6 lanes in total so i would probably recommend you book ahead. They have a really good selection of beets and ales. Also the pizza's there are really really good.
K. B.
Very good venue for a bite to eat and a game of bowling. The staff are amazing and very welcoming. Went there for the first time on a works night out and had an awesome time and will definitely go back soon. 👍😎
C. H.
Great venue for a night out, good atmosphere and reasonably priced bowling
J. C.
Brilliant fun, and great cider
K. N.
Drinks are so expensive here it's like London prices. Definitely makes a but of a dent in the enjoyment of the evening especially in a bar with a dance floor like this. It's not a club but you expect reasonable prices or some kind of a deal. Bar staff aren't friendly and we're very slow even on a not so busy night.
O. B.
Cheap place to bowl, food and drink available.
The lanes is not for the professional bowler but great for the amateur bowler, family get together or friends meet. Spacious bar and 5 lanes make for a cheap time out.
C. H.
Really good old school bowling vibes. Great freshly made pizza, unfortunately one of our group was made to wait a while. Not big capacity on the bowling lanes, and you get cut off mid game when your time is up. But we had so much fun. Would definitely go again.
T. Y. C.
Solid pizza and bowling alley, while the drinks were okay. If you don't mind the loud music and the dim environment, it is a decent place to smash some strikes.
There are only 5 lanes as far as I know, so you might want to look into the availability earlier. I don't think the staff would care if you tread upon the bowling area without bowling shoes.
A. J.
A place full of character and more importantly, quality beers and ciders. Staff were friendly and helpful, toilets were clean, bowling was fun. Only slight criticism would be the bowling area needs a bit of tlc - some of the seats were damaged, you had to be careful where you sat!
R. B.
Good bowling alley with bar, band and atmosphere.
J. P.
Not being a massive fan of bowling I did approach here with trepidation fearing it may be another naff bowling alley that are so common, or the bar wasn't going to be worth it. Thankfully I was completely wrong as the group of 10 of us had a really good time. We had an hour of bowling which seemed to fly by so then headed upstairs to the pool tables.
As we were all merry, a karaoke session may have been a fun activity but it was fully booked. More importantly however, the karaoke room is sound-proofed so we couldn't really hear the group within
Having experienced bowling alley food before, at first I wasn't at all keen on having food there but we thought we'd give it a go and the pizzas were absolutely delicious and really tasty. They were ridiculously hot straight from the oven so it's not a good idea to grab for a slice as soon as they're put down.
Really good venue overall which would be a great addition to many cities.
C. R.
Went here for a Bristol Bot Builders event and love the place. Plenty of room, good food, bowling is a bonus. They had another fun booking at the time upstairs too so kudos to the owners for embracing the community
H. M.
Lovely Retro Bowling Lanes. Great Fun, friendly staff.
M. K.
Its a good place to have a drink or bite with friends while bowling. However if you want a proper bowling experience this is not the place for you. The lanes are not standard length.
I. C.
Max was a darling, he let me charge my phone on a SUNDAY!!
N. C.
Lovely little bowling alley with 5 lanes.
Unfortunately there was only 1 member of staff when we went (on a Saturday afternoon???). She was ever so friendly and helpful, couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for her as she had a lot on her plate. Credit to her she stayed so calm, polite and helpful!
C. H.
This place turns into a nightclub after hours. We had a really great time closing out our night The Lanes. Fun music with people just looking to have a good time!
M. T.
Had such a fun night here, Karoke and bowling lanes are booked up quickly so make sure to call in advance. Pizzas were fantastic, there’s vegetarian options as well, and the selection of beers and stouts are a dream.
R. C.
I saw the legendary DJ Derek here and it was a great night! I've also been on other occasions for bowling and also for the fantastic pizza and the incredible milkshakes! I have never had a problem with the staff unlike some reviewers, and have always found them all to be friendly and good humoured.
But the milkshakes and pizza! Really, have a milkshake and a pizza!!!
L. B.
A great bar/pizzeria/bowling synergy. These places are probably ubiquitous in the states but it's not such a familiar combination over here but it definitely works. I also appreciate their offering of very large pizza, something which many pizzerias seem to avoid for whatever reason. The larger the pizza, almost always you'll find that correlates with exponentially more pizza per (Great British) pound so I respect that. The pricing structure of the bowling is also better than normal bowling alleys I'd say but does incite some stress (but that adds to the fun).
K. L.
Lovely venue. Went for an evening event which was great. Clean place, nice outdoor area.
H. J.
saw bible club here they r immense
R. A.
Lovely place tucked out the way friendly staff yummy food and very clean what more can you ask for
J. B.
Situated in the city centre, with a few bowling lanes.
The bowling lanes are time dependant more than complete games, so if there are quite a few of you, you might not be able to finish completely.
It's usually quite busy, especially for bowling.
It has a barnd it's possible to order food. They also host player Vs player video game sessions.
D. S.
Good food and beer. Miserable staff
A. M.
Good place to go bowling in the centre of Bristol (although the lanes are shorter than standard). You can wear your own shoes if they have rubber soles. Great choice of beer, good pizza. They need to sort out the toilets though.
R. L.
Full disclosure; I really hate bowling. Too many kids birthday parties etched into my brain and that very awkward date when I was 17. But! I do really like The Lanes. Bowled once here and I didn't hate it. The bar is really good and actually it's really nice going to a bowling alley that doesn't smell of suspicious burgers.
V. S.
Good little bowling alley, lanes are shorter than regulation, so ideal if you want a confidence boost! Slightly bizarre venue with a mixture of casual bowlers and head banging rockers!
J. W.
Decent all round place, food to snack on, good selection of drinks, bowling, music, on the evening I attended they were playing a film. Great venue always worth checking out what's happening the night you are attending there always seems to be something goin on
M. M.
We need more places like The Lanes, so much more offered than a run of the mill regular bar or pub. Ping pong, Kareoke, Bowling, Photo booth, Live Music, big pizzas that are a definite value for money. Been many a time and will continue to do so, Also glad that I've got a choice when it comes to non-alcoholic drinks. I recommend the Bitberger Drive.
C. R.
I must say it is nice to go bowling without the shame and embarrassment of being in the lane next to the team with matching paunches and personalised balls getting multiple strikes as my ball yet again ends up inevitably in the gutter.
Plus good cider in non-disposable cups!
m. w.
The atmosphere at the lanes is great, however they let themselves down with the service. I organised a bowling party for my birthday there once but was unhappy at how our games were cut short in the second round as 'we had played for a full hour'. Despite this, and the technical faults with two out of three of the lanes breaking down during our hour of play, they were kind enough to give me a refund for one of the lanes. On a separate occasion they also didn't have 1 of the 2 dessert options on the menu which was disappointing.
R. B.
Nice staff, really nice bar/bowling lane, great idea well executed
A. S.
Being an older guy, I thought I'd feel out of place. But I didn't! The Lanes is fun, good value, and just what Bristol needs. I really enjoyed the afternoon there, I'd like to see what it is like in the evening also.
D. C.
Best bowling in Bristol with good vibes and nice beer on tap
E. R.
Played a show there and the FOOD is incredible!
A. N.
Average bar for Music and karaoke. We arrived relatively early for a Friday night (we were booked in for 8pm) but it was already relatively busy so took us a little while to get set up in our karaoke room. The machine was pretty good quality and had lots of songs on it, unfortunately many of them wouldn't play, coming up with an error. There was a large selection though so could choose others fairly quickly. From was well insulated from the sound of the band that was playing at the same time. When we finished (kicked out relatively abruptly for the next booking which is fair enough) the was a really strong fog / haze in the room, I'm assuming from people vaping. Reminded me of being in bars before the smoking bar. I would go again for karaoke, but arrive earlier, and also not plan too far in advance what songs to sing.
R. R.
Really nice bowling alley, for adults. Very nice if you are wanting to enjoy bowling without having screaming children everywhere. Good beer and cider selection and friendly staff.
J. P.
Went to the lanes to celebrate a recent (rather imposing) birthday.
Took 20 friends and had a fantastic evening. We bowled, drank, ate and had a lot of laughs. Even though yours truely was having far too much fun to be unnoticed, the staff remained friendly and happy that we were enjoying ourselves.
Great night out!
S. D.
Drinking and bowling, what is there not to like?... well actually a couple of things but it's not all bad. The Lanes is a Bowling alley/bar/music venue offering a taste of retro and alternative. Lanes can be booked and is not to expensive if you want to bowl... however that being said the drinks are pretty expensive what what you get.
I do enjoy my visits to the lanes and do go back.. but i always begrudge the bar.
C. R.
Depends what you're looking for. Personally I'd go with a group for bowling as the hour long sessions are good value for money, not to mention its smack bang in the middle of town.
Pizza is good, drinks selection is ok. Would avoid on weekend evenings.
V. S.
I loved it you will love it either to stay or visit and I'm pretty sure you will get somewhere right I need sleep but that place is banging 😁!!!!!!!!!
D. B.
Quality venue, has a bit of everything in. Bowling alleys, drinking area and a place to play pool and other bar games. Drinks are reasonably priced and seats are comfortable. Bar staff are very friendly.
G. C.
Good bowling, lane did breakdown around 4 times in 1 hour though, fixed quickly each time but still slightly annoying.
C. M.
Had our work Christmas party at the Lanes for 30 people, including bowling, food and karaoke. Organisation was easy and the events manager was very helpful and accomodating.
On the night itself, the staff could not have been more helpful, and checked up on us a number of times to make sure we had everything we needed. Setting up bar tabs was easy, with a card system to make sure only our group used it.
The food was great - a buffet with a a range of food, there was so much (even on the cheaper menu) that we couldnt eat it all.
So between the bowling, the food, the karaoke, the drinks, the pool tables, everyone had a brilliant night, perfect for all ages (we ranged from 18 - 50s)
5* without a hesitation. If you're looking for a fun, different night in Bristol we would all recommend it!
Chris
G. P.
Fun for bowling, nice change from the commercial popcorn-infested Hollywood Bowls. Also has a nice space for gigs in the foyer area by the bar. Great selection of beers and had Aspalls cider - always a bonus.
D. N.
Brilliant venue. The bowling alleys are a good surprise find if you didn't know they were there. Right in the heart of Bristol, this fantastic little pizza, booze and bowling gem is certainly a place to visit
H. W.
Great food, great bowling, bar staff are incredible and club nights (especially Fat Lip) are fun and run really well.
S. K.
Not been for the bowling but they have a fantastic karaoke booth, great decor, delicious pizza and friendly staff. Be warned though - the pinball machine is a bit broken and the ball sometimes gets stuck.
J. A.
Lovely friendly staff behind the bar and on the door. I was impressed by their friendliness and politeness. This 'oldie' female customer appreciated being made to feel so welcome, particularly as I was on my own. Place feels well run.
S. F.
I love this place. Pizzas are simple but well cooked. Bowling is great fun and the music is usually good. Department S is my favourite night with John the Mod

Pizza and bowling in the heart of Bristol! If you choose to visit make sure to order the 18" pizzas which are excellent value for money (although probably not one each). They have a wise selection of beers available with a few hitting a fairly high price point. An hours bowling ended up being about £5 each, would definitely recommend!
J. J.
Good for bowling in the centre of Bristol, and the pizzas are nice. When it's a DJ night it can get very busy and the main problem is the toilets always get blocked, and the sinks too, making it a bit of a disgusting experience going to the loo.
A. B.
Nice selection of beers and ales, with the added bowling alley to take advantage off, though the bowling alley was booked up for a while when we arrived.
S. M.
Saw a couple of bands during Dot To Dot Festival. Great atmosphere, really close to the stage!
M. C.
I went to a brilliant birthday party and we did bowling, karaoke and pizzas. The food was delicious, karaoke was great and the bowling alley had a great chilled atmosphere. I would really recommend.
E. M.
A relaxed bowling experience. Dont come here if you are looking to take it too seriously. It is a fun atmosphere, staff were friendly and helpful, drinks not too expensive.
S. T.
Great night out, excellent pizza, good beer and very helpful staff. It's not a full size bowling lane, not that it stopped the fun. Definitely worth it
M. B. A.
Outstanding place!! I have been often with my daughter and staff has always been amazing. I have celebrated many birthday parties. The best pizza and customer service in Bristol. The best place to have fun...
D. S.
A pleasant place to go bowling with friends. Only 6 lanes so make sure to pre book. Music, food and drinks are available. Two pool tables and table football are upstairs along with a photo booth
A. C.
Enjoyed a great family afternoon here. Such a nice change from the big corporations to go to a smaller well run alley
F. M.
Amazing food! One of the best pizzas. Had a great time playing bowling and karaoke so much fun! Perfect for groups of around 10 people!
J. J.
Really convenient in the city centre and fun for an afternoon or evening bowling. However it is quite small and the lanes get booked up really quickly. You should definitely book in advance.
S. V.
Monday night madness!!
We booked 2 lanes Monday night for a works party, ended up hiring the karaoke booth in addition and having a mini party! Great place to be social, highly recommened. Thank you.
M. H.
Love this place. We usually have pizza as well. Unfortunately they weren't serving until later today (after lunch...). Shame as the pizza is ace.
S. L.
We had the best night out here - what a fantastic venue!
Good food, nice selection of beers , good bowling lanes , friendly staff and lovely vibe.
Thanks!
J. L.
Great atmosphere, great place. Could do with more food on the menu however.
D. C.
Quick table service, plenty of room, location small walk, drinks a bit pricey, food was ok could be more varied, music was great really set the mood :)
J. V.
Phuct is amazing, great music and cool venue. Smoking area is really big, multiple floors, photobooth, bowling alley. Only issue is that drinks are a little expensive, but it's worth it
J. T.
I got a strike, so we know that these lanes have a lucky streak :D also, great beer and a lovely vibe
E. B.
Love the bowling and there is a choice of drinks aplenty. There was a minor inconvenience of not being able to pay with card below £5 which meant I had to ask a friend to pay for me on his card (until I paid back of course.)
H. A.
Lovely vibe, good ambience, trendy feel, cool atmosphere everything was very reasonable. However my friend James Mr Wilson kept doing big farts and no one tried to stop him. Also some of the beds were too high.
S. R.
Absolutely brilliant, had an awesome time at the Lanes for a work night out. Pizza was awesome. Will definitely arrange to host another event / just come along with a friend
P. C.
It's a quirky venue but purely from a bar perspective, there's seemingly no aircon and chosen DJs can be iffy let's say. I find myself getting too sober too early as it can take 15-25 mins to get a drink with a tiny and understaffed bar.
F. M.
Love its environment, delicious pizza, excellent choice of different entertainment games like pool and bowling. At the bar, not very good or friendly service though.
M. W.
Multi purpose venue, live music, bar, pizza restaurant and bowling. Right in the centre of the city.
B.
What a tremendous place for a wedding party. Very cool atmosphere, incredible food (fresh pizzas) really friendly staff and of course the bowling lanes. Great night.
B. W.
Good old grunge hip hop and student atmosphere! Drinks a bit limited to indie beer and ales. Problematic queueing for drinks during peak times.
A. H.
Great venue for live music. The pizzas were awesome and the atmosphere was good too. The fact there is a bowling alley is an added bonus!
R. M.
It was ok, not the worst night out even if I did feel like a sex offender. Being easily 15 years older than the vast majority of the clientele. But still pretty banging. No Keller though haha
C.
Good selection of craft beer and a nice little bowling alley
N. Y.
Extremely friendly staff. Fantastic venue with mixture of DJ's and live bands, plus bowling lanes. This is a fantastic and rare mix, making this place well worth a visit!
b. b.
Nice place for a perfect Saturday night out
J. C.
Always good fun here. Good bowling lanes, great food (excellent pizza!) and a nice selection of drinks. Lively in the evenings.
J. C.
Been going to the lanes for the last few years. Bowling is fine with nice decor from old bowling diagrams, the food over the years has varied except the price always being slightly expensive. The atmosphere is generally alright except for the evenings when you might be in store for some extremely loud music warranted or not be prepared.
R. S.
Saturday night - Fantastic live music by Thrill Collins then a great mix of punk and rock from the 90s and 00s bringing us in to the early hours. Also drinks are relatively cheap for Bristol, great night.
s. d.
Great vibes delicious pizza
A. J.
A place full of character and more importantly, quality beers and ciders. Staff were friendly and helpful, toilets were clean, bowling was fun. Only slight criticism would be the bowling area needs a bit of tlc - some of the seats were damaged, you had to be careful where you sat!
N. F. P.
Great little venue - so much going on here, plus a good range of vegan options on the menu.
N. Y.
Extremely friendly staff. Fantastic venue with mixture of DJ's and live bands, plus bowling lanes. This is a fantastic and rare mix, making this place well worth a visit!
J.
It's really good fun here. A bit more chaotic given there are bowling lanes at the back but it's part of the fun. Great place to take visiting friends to.
N. W.
Great bands - Unschooling & The Wants played tonight. Great gig & great venue ♥️
A. H.
Too small a venue for the event i saw. Still a lovely place. Also not enough signage at the bar. Had no idea what draught drinks were available.
S. V.
Monday night madness!!
We booked 2 lanes Monday night for a works party, ended up hiring the karaoke booth in addition and having a mini party! Great place to be social, highly recommened. Thank you.
O. T.
Good fun. Love fat lip club nights and great for bowling. Not so great for people with limited mobility.
J. B.
Situated in the city centre, with a few bowling lanes.
The bowling lanes are time dependant more than complete games, so if there are quite a few of you, you might not be able to finish completely. …
H. A.
Lovely vibe, good ambience, trendy feel, cool atmosphere everything was very reasonable. However my friend James Mr Wilson kept doing big farts and no one tried to stop him. Also some of the beds were too high.
A. H.
Too small a venue for the event i saw. Still a lovely place. Also not enough signage at the bar. Had no idea what draught drinks were available.
J.
It's really good fun here. A bit more chaotic given there are bowling lanes at the back but it's part of the fun. Great place to take visiting friends to.
A. J.
It looks a bit run down, but perfect for students I guess. I went there to kill some time, played some pool and had a drink. There are large TVs, games consoles, 10 pin bowling lanes and a few bar games, pin ball etc.
D. H.
Went for a friend's leaving do at work, pizza was delicious, bowling was great fun, all for a good price, and then Motorcity afterwards was one of the best club nights I've been to in a very long time - highly recommended!
M. P.
Very unique bowling alley that has a karaoke bar and is also a live music venue. Great in the heart of Bristol!
G. B.
Great place for a drink, the prices are very reasonable. The food is really good too, the pizzas are huge and can easily be shared by up to 6 people.
T.
Nice pub with chilled outside seating and live music. Good atmosphere. The only downside was the loos were dirty.
R. J.
Fun atmosphere, good bar, cool arcade games. It's such a cool bowling alley, unlike any other that I've been too
A. W.
Fairly noisy environment. The bowling is good and you can eat the in house pizza while you play. The pizza is very good also.
R. H.
Very cool venue. Bowling & drinks?! What more could you want.
J. C.
Great staff, amazing atmosphere, so much fun.
T. R.
Didn't get to sample the place properly but had a nice pint here while my boy was at a kid's birthday party and they were all having a blast.
R. B.
Good when you can get a bowling lane, good drinks selection. Central location makes it quite busy but close to other bars and pubs.
J. L.
Had daughter's birthday party there. Friendly & helpful staff, good pizzas and good selection of beers
P. B.
Great atmosphere day or night. Bowling parties for kids or adults during the day and in the evening more bowling and live music. Love it !
P. L.
Why don't The Lanes charge for bowling by the game rather than the hour? Our team didn't get to finish our game. Nice pint of Aspall's though.
J. A.
Bowling 3.5 pounds/person. You can have a beer and chat for a while. You have smoking area as well. One of the two times i was there, a dj was mixing in there.
J. R.
It's okay. A little crummy. But the bowling works and is fun. They serve pizza at the restaurant which are stupid high prices in my opinion for an okay pizza.
O. T.
Good fun. Love fat lip club nights and great for bowling. Not so great for people with limited mobility.
A.
A bit cramped and a bit spenny for my liking, but good fun beating everyone at bowling
V. T.
Great fun for the hen party
C. M. (.
A good rough place to have a beer with your friends. The live music is nice but to loud and people end up shouting.
D. G. H.
Great social distanced disco event, good people nice staff.
E. G.
Good music and vibe and bowling but the venue could do with a little love, needs a paint job!
Pizzas and hard shakes are great
A. B.
Good pizzas with crispy, authentic base and tasty tomato sauce - a surprisingly good choice for pizza in central Bristol. Friendly service.
A. H.
Compact and bijou, clean, friendly staff unfortunately the toilets are down a flight of stairs. And with steps to the entrance it's not disabled friendly at all
e. p.
Small but nice. Decent beer but not cheap. It was 40£ for 6 of us to play for an hour.
J. C.
Great atmosphere. The bowling alley is amazing during the day and becomes an even better music venue in the evening.
N. B.
Always a fun place to go
T. J.
Affordable bowling and drinks, with a unique and independent feel in comparison to commercial bowling alleys. However the staff can be blunt at times.
J. D.
Great place for a bit of bowling, beers and dancing. Guest beers regularly change. Staff generally decent.
B. G.
Good boutique bowling and karaoke. A bit rough round the edges but a good atmosphere. Good selection of beers.
D. S.
Unique little bar, great atmosphere with nice food too. Wish the bowling lasted longer though!
D. G.
Very casual bowling, not contrived in the same way other bowling places are.. more of an adult feel.
F. S.
Very friendly staff. Very high demand for bowling so book ahead. It isn't a professional alley but it does the job.
T. S.
Nice vintage bowling lane doubling as a gig / clubnight venue. Seen some great gigs here. Bit pricey for drinks and bowling.
A. H.
Awesome Pizza and have been coming here for years, every Sunday they have Tekken and SF tourneys
a. a.
Friendly people. Okay beer. The nights they put on are a laugh and good fun
J. B.
Nice venue, clean and tidy. Went for a club night wasn't disappointed
E. K.
Decent bowling space and brilliant pizza! Generally a great place to hang out!
T. J.
Good staff, good beers, good bowling... and a fair price, too.
W. P.
Bowling when drunk was so much fun and a great laugh. Definitely going again soon
M. H.
Ten pin bowling then live music, brilliant
J. W.
Great retro bowling experience and some quality beers. Sound system is top notch as well!
F. M.
Love its environment, delicious pizza, excellent choice of different entertainment games like pool and bowling. At the bar, not very good or friendly service though.
C. R.
I must say it is nice to go bowling without the shame and embarrassment of being in the lane next to the team with matching paunches and personalised balls getting multiple strikes as my ball yet again ends up inevitably in the gutter. …
F. S.
Great venue. Has something for everyone. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
J. C.
Great vibe, friendly helpful staff, incredibly well organised. Good food.......Great night
A. C.
It gets very busy on certain nights, absolutely rammed! They have redecorated so it looks much nicer
D. S.
A pleasant place to go bowling with friends. Only 6 lanes so make sure to pre book. Music, food and drinks are available. Two pool tables and table football are upstairs along with a photo booth
M. C.
Nice place to grab a drink and listen to music
A. J.
It looks a bit run down, but perfect for students I guess. I went there to kill some time, played some pool and had a drink. There are large TVs, games consoles, 10 pin bowling lanes and a few bar games, pin ball etc.

Saturday night - Fantastic live music by Thrill Collins then a great mix of punk and rock from the 90s and 00s bringing us in to the early hours. Also drinks are relatively cheap for Bristol, great night.
M. S.
Good beer and pizza also one of the few places you can go bowling and not need to wear clown shoes
W. L.
Good beers but they did lose our meal order. Very busy though so probably not usual.
S. W.
Great atmosphere, and loads going on. Also had a wonderful local gin called Bristol Dry Gin. Highly recommended.
J. M.
Stumbled into Spice Girls night :-) Funniest night I have had in a long time
A. H.
Awesome Pizza and have been coming here for years, every Sunday they have Tekken and SF tourneys
T. P.
Small venue built in amoung flats, drinks are alittle expensive but has a nice beer garden, bowling alley and hosts some great events.
J. R.
Bad dj good outdoor seating. Good waiters
R.
Okay staff. Open late on monday. Good for students with money and a love for karaoke
P. S.
Good bowling alley in the centre of town, with nice bar. The lanes get a it noisy with the hard ceilings and walls.
T. E.
Great place to bowl
C. R.
Not a big fan of the new layout but it is a nice place. What is there not to love about pizza bowling and booze.
B. O.
Just had a fabulous photoshoot in here. The staff were super friendly and more than accommodating!! Thank you so much
D. H.
This venue was a fun, student type place with separate areas for bowling, live music and seating
M. K.
Good fun! Bowling and a DnB night... Could do with some better AV, as the lighting was a bit bright and boring
r. m.
Great place to go for daytime drinks or nightime partying. Good pizza and a good selection of beers and spirits.

S. E.
Fantastic little bowling alley. A real gem. Great food, beer & vibes. Highly recommended.
M. F.
Not a bad pizza and nice beer. Plus 10 pin bowling if you want
d. e.
City centre bowling is good fun, worth getting there early if you have a one hour slot.
J. T.
Not only is this in a great building, the drinks on offer from the friendly staff are part of an immense selection, great service and the balls and lanes are all in good nick also.
T.

Some fantastic pizza and hard milkshakes, was staying at the adjacent hostel, so great discount too
A. C.
It gets very busy on certain nights, absolutely rammed! They have redecorated so it looks much nicer
b. r.
Apart from having only 9 pins on one lane, s great night out. Good pizzas!
S. K.
Used to be 5 stars but the renovation has ruined its atmosphere and bowling is unnecessarily pricey for a local business
M. W.
Lovely little bowling alley and great cheap price. Nice music venue
T. J.
Great place great atmosphere bowling and karaoke and a dance floor what more could you want?
s. t.
It's a very old place. Love the setting but the lanes are not maintained properly
