The Louisiana is an intimate venue above a pub. The pub is a decent size with plenty of tables and well presented. On my visit I found the staff friendly didn't have to wait long to get served. I did get my drink in a plastic cup, but didn't bother me. The venue is accessed up a winding staircase; the room itself seems pretty small but during the gig there was plenty of room for the 140ish crowd. The stage is about knee high off the floor, so being about 8 people from the front there was a pretty decent view of the band. The lighting and backdrop simple but effective; great sound system, vocals a bit distorted at times, but you want it turned up to 11 to enjoy it! Had a brilliant gig courtesy of simplylove. Would not hesitate to go back on another occasion.

I would say The Louisiana is defiantly more of a bar than a pub if that's what your looking for. The inside is very empty and not welcoming. The outside seating is nice but there are very few benches. There are some much better pubs near by like The Ostrich or Golden Guinea.

The Louisiana is a fantastic venue for live music, with it's dedicated room upstairs and bar area downstairs. The bar is cosy with comfy seating and tables, so if you arrive early for a gig you can relax in comfort. Upstairs is a wide open space, with no tables or chairs, all focus is on the front area where the live music takes place. The stage area is slightly raised, so (unless you're very short like me) there's every chance you'll get a good view of the stage from wherever you stand. The photos I've added aren't very good but are to show stage height and ambient lighting (from a pre-Xmas Toby Jepson & Dave Kemp show).

Wow, Great place. Came for a gig, in the room upstairs, lovely venue made for a nice, noisy, intimate gig. Pub downstairs is lovely, will return for the pub quiz and a pint! Venue is easy to find and plenty of parking nearby, although it's only a ten minute walk if you parked at millennium Square car park

Good pub with a very interesting exterior. Also one of Bristol's best live music venues. A good refuge during the Harbour Festival - feels far from the madding crowd but it's only 5 mins walk from the centre.

Good intimate venue with the bar downstairs which serves a range of beers & ciders. They even sell "zero alcohol" Heineken which as I was driving is a massive plus. The concert stage is located upstairs & although it is small. It is very cosy. We saw "Never The Bride" featuring front woman Nikki B whose powerful vocals suited the acoustics of the Louisiana.

This is an independent pub with live music and there are plenty of artists and bands performing everyday and famous artists did perform here. The staff is friendly and attentive and the drinks are good. Seating available inside and outside for summer days. Very good ambience for a music lover to watch and listen to live music gigs. Definitely recommended.

The Louisiana is a Bristol staple. The venue is small and intimate but packs a massive punch. The sound is amazing and every gig I've been to there has been great. The bar has a good beer selection and the gigs are super reasonably priced. They get amazing bands in and are a great spot to just turn up and listen to something new. 10/10

Man I love it here. They have great shows, the bar is unpretentious and they do carvery! I really like that if you get a bit overwhelmed upstairs you can come and have some quiet time in the bar downstairs whilst the band plays. Bar staff are speedy and nice. Proper decent venue, feels like a cool secret even though they've been there for years.

Has to be one of the best live venues in the UK. The gigs upstairs sound great thanks to fab acoustics and some of the best engineering in the country. It's on the tour itinerary for most bands to play this venue now and rightfully so. An absolutely charming venue that has seen pretty much every huge band play there back in the day, and the upcoming bands of today play there regularly now too.

Really nice music venue! Some really famous bands have played here. If you like music I would definitely recommend you to go here, there is quite alot of space, so it's also good for small groups (depending on the night and who is playing ofcourse) I would check out their website before going just to make sure. We went 6 people Friday and had no problems at all, Saturday was unfortunately sold out, so we couldn't get in :) it's also very central, it's a must go.

An intimate iconic Bristol music venue. I saw a brilliant band the other night, made up of world class musicians and every song was a poem, so most important to hear the words. Unfortunately in the second half of the concert the musicianship and words were overwhelmed by the unnecessary volume, especially in such a small room. What was the sound engineer thinking??? several of us in the audience agreed. Louder is certainly not better especially with such amazing musicians.

Don't go here for the beer. As a live music venue it is brilliant. Tiny capacity (80 I believe). Many very successful acts played here before hitting it big - White Stripes, Coldplay, Black Keys to name a few.

First time I've been there but very friendly. It's a great music venue, a short walk from the town centre. Smallish upstairs room but they have some decent bands for somewhere of that scale. Will go again next time I'm in Bristol.

Great venue to see up and coming touring acts perform alongside the best that Bristol has to offer on the unsigned scene. From intimate acoustic performances in the cellar through to full blooded rock tantrums in the main space upstairs. Most importantly for bands, they have engineers who actually know their onions! They have a very open attitude to bands wanting to perform there and will always try to help you move up the gigging chain if you're prepared to put the work in. All in all a winning combination.

The Louisiana is a great place to see live gigs, in particular artists that are relatively new in the industry. There is a bar downstairs and some seating outside for summer days whilst you wait for doors to open. A hidden Gem!

Best place to watch bands in Bristol. Has a long and colourful history, and lately the pressure from yuppie neighbours has forced some changes (boo, hiss) but there's still nowhere else like it for up-close-and-personal, sweaty, focused gig-going.

Foundation Bristol venue. Good pub generally, but upstairs at The Louisiana is one of the longest running and most reliable venues for local acts and promoters in the city and is worth a visit almost any night of the week.

Myself and Ema couldnt have been more happier and very grateful to have been allowed to perform at an acclaimed venue within the city, thanks to help from a very mutual friend. A staple of Dot-to-Dot Festival, The Louisiana is primarily a gig/music venue. Downstairs is a little souless, but outside is quite nice despite being so close to the road. Its real calling card are the intimate gigs upstairs. I've seen plenty of bands here over the past 5 years and it's never without character. Unfortunately the beer choice upstairs leaves me pretty cold - Red Stripe (@ £4.25ish), Fosters (£4 etc). Where are the ales?!

Came on Saturday 7th of January. Superb venue. Fantastic night, all 3 bands were amazing. Will go and watch them all again but Versus Savannah something else they could go all the way

Wow, sehr coole Location. Bin per Zufall in das letzte Set eines Konzerts geraten. Kleiner Raum, kleine Bühne, direkter Kontakt zur Band. Lohnt sich! (Translated) Wow, very cool location. I accidentally got into the last set of a concert. Small room, small stage, direct contact with the band. It's worth it!
