Reviews of Durham Amateur Rowing Club
J. G.
Lovely little site on the outskirts of Durham, a lovely short riverside walk takes you right into the centre of the city. Very friendly welcoming chap in the bar/ coffee shop who showed me around the toilets/ showers which are shared with the rowing club. The reason I haven’t given 5 stars is there was a strong sewage smell, which I guess was coming from a septic tank, but I will definitely return.

Greeted by friendly assistant behind the bar who provided menu and pots of tea with our lunch.
I had cheese & ham toastie, one of the best I've tried, while tuna jacket potatoe looked nice and hot servered with salad and slaw.
Restaurant little basic but with good seating outside and undercover to keep dry, serving food & alcohol drinks. While next to river and good setting within Durham. Also has caravan & camping 🏕️ this place a hidden gem.

Very good place to get in the water at Durham parking 100ft from the water with wood walkway to launch your kayak/paddle board excellent for beginners as river is only 3 foot deep here

Great spot, large outside area, lots of picnic benches, nice premises, with food drinks and alcohol license.
Highly recommended, just a pleasant flat scenic 1 mile walk along the Riverside from Durham. Has vehicle parking if you are less able to walk.
