Great atmosphere, and cheap drinks! They do have chips and nuts as a bar snack, but if you're looking for something more substantial, you'll have to go elsewhere. Big, beautiful screens everywhere to watch CL games. Highly recommended!

An absolute must if You are looking for a lively entertaining night😊 Always a lively, party atmosphere. It's a large open bar space, but retains an intimate feel. Live bands every night. Security monitor, but only intervene occasionally and only when required to their credit. Everyone inside seem to be out to have fun. Been many nights on various trips to Edinburgh and always walked away smiling after. Absolutely awesome 👍

A great Irish pub in the heart of the city. We watched the Liverpool game on a Saturday night, it wasn't annoyingly busy so we had a great time. The live music looks very lovely as well. You might need a reservation.

The live music is ALWAYS great. On occasion it can be difficult to get in, mostly due to the ineptitude of the bouncers, and once you're in, getting a drink can sometimes be tough. The bar staff are hit or miss. Sometimes they're great, sometimes it feels like they're not even there

This tiny door leads into another gateway of fun and frolic. An Irish pub with an amazing atmosphere and live music on Saturday night being played along with some sports as well. Visited this twice on my weekend trip to Edinburgh and was a completely mesmerising experience by day and night.

Drinks are great, good selection of beer and whiskey, and best of all the bartenders are fast and efficient. At great place to go for a fun night in a pub, but it is also nice for an afternoon pint.

Super fun! I loved their live music -- they played a lot of old American songs (and as an American expat, I enjoyed hearing songs I could sing to). Drinks aren't expensive but they're definitely not cheap either. The layered shooters were amazing though -- I heavily recommend the Irish Flag shooter. It's like drinking candy but having a nice minty fresh aftertaste :)

There is always a great atmosphere and you get some decent live music - although this makes it hard to chat! There is, however, a wee room through the back that people often forget about which is a bit quieter. Drinks aren't too expensive and it's in a great area near restaurants and other bars/clubs.

I've never been in but Google location insists I have due to working across the road for twenty years and often being in the music venue downstairs. Still, never heard anything bad about it which is a bit of a mark of distinction for what may well be the most tourist infested area of central lowland Scotland so it must be adequately excellent!

One of the best pubs I've found in Edinburgh so far. Go there as soon as live music is on! Prices are also good and there are some really good student specials as well. Be sure to be early on the weekend and in case there's sportevents shown on TV. Also highly recommended as a starting point to meet with friends since the pub is located quite central.

Barkeepers were nice but some of the cocktail recipes were wrong, my opinion is if you name a drink godfather or Singapore sling (like a classic), it should be these drinks and characteristics. I've been to Edinburgh twice and visited this pub each time. It is predominantly a sports bar which is exactly the reason I go there (football and Rugby mainly). I advise anyone who wants to go there to arrive at least an hour before any sport starts as it gets busy very quickly! Probably the best Irish pub in Edinburgh. Great atmosphere in the place which gives it genuine Irish charm. They regularly have live Irish music playing and the place is always rammed at the weekends. On busy weekends when there’s rugby on or in spring/summer during the stag/hen party season then it can be too busy and can be difficult to get served. Drinks are quite pricey but it tends to be visitors to Edinburgh that come here rather than locals. For that reason you can often get blazing idiots in here but the bouncers are quite strict so they're not too bad at keeping the tw*ts out. Definitely one of the most lively bars in Edinburgh.

Im not sure i would describe Finnegans as spacious, Mind you I have only ever been in on a Friday or a Saturday night after 10pm. There has usually been a live band playing Irish folk tunes and covers. The place has always been absolutely packed to the rafters. There is a really good buzz to the place even if it is standing room only

Ivor Dembina packs out the small back room of Finnegans wake on Victoria street I spotted him outside I could too h was the act, bust rushing around setting up the room, welcoming friends, h looked warm and personable and enjoying himself. He sets the scene his father told him years ago not to be an alternative comedian when he was starting out in the 80's he advised him to tell old Jewish Jokes he spreads these jokes around the wider story of accepting a benefit gig at a London synagogue to fix the hole in their roof, the rabbi keeps interrupting him asking him not to tell jokes about the holocaust, Jews and money, and sex jokes each time the rabbi censors him he tells us the jokes he would have told to us these gags are belly laugh hilarious, the show was slightly interupted by a guy going to the loo rather than just leave he speaks loudly breaking the flow and interrupting the show slightly but Ivor deals with it in another fantastically Jewish way "you work it out" it's a small venue so this is to b expected he is so professional luckily the guy returns silently as I was half expecting a report on the successful loo trip from him, go see his two shows Old Jewish jokes and New Jewish jokes both free fringe shows but a bucket is hand around with a recommends £5 donation which is fair. Old Jewish jokes runs until August 29th except Sunday's
