M. M.Amazing live music venue. The door staff are really helpful on arrival, inside it was dark and crowded, with a great atmosphere. Drinks are all served in plastic cups, but this is not really an issue, the music was amazing. Great views from the back and pretty much everywhere in the venue.

Z.Really good place for such a small venue it's quite roomie dencet sound system and very good Covid compliance really god atmosphere though that may have have been due to the type of night that was on I was there for Keeping it Steel an awesome metal club my only grip is that the dance floor was full of people standing drinking not dancing and with that comes the spilling of the drinks and therefore a dance floor that then becomes much harder to use for the slipping potential and nobody needs that but like I said grand wee please and a definite upgrade on the original club that was there before the grate fire of the cowgate back in the early thousands or norghtys if you prefer I definitely would come back to this place
M. R.Seating was brilliant for all these bands pushing 40+ years because us lot who follow them are knocking on now. They also have Irn bru on tap if you aint had it on tap before try it.

M. J. I. H.Terrific music venue, hidden just off The Cowgate, downstairs from The Mash House, restored to glory after the great fire of 2002. Big enough for touring, popular bands and small enough for local gigs too. Capacity approx 550. Sound is terrific, stage is a decent size.
R.Interesting 80s vibe. Pretty dirty. Saw some stand-up comedy in an underground room with a low roof. I'd be interested in going back for their roller disco nights (Weds and Thurs), which I think is probably the USP of this venue.

s. t.Quality music venue in the depths of Edinburgh old Town, upgraded PA system which is very good quality. Alternative in its outlook to service and arrangement. Holds 900 odd people comfortably. Hires out for acts, shows, bands, showcases etc.
Sadly although having put on some good shows last year la belle angele hasn't been very active of late.
A. R.Great for the Fringe venue for Jollyboat. Jollyboat are an amazing singing duo of pirate pop parody songs and they used La Belle Angele as a venue which worked nicely but is a bit of a sticky carpet as it is a nighclub. The venue however is great and i wpuld totally go back and it has a nice courtyard and in a great location

S. L.I saw a Fringe performance here called Spontaneous Sherlock. It was a large audience and seating was not guaranteed, but I found the venue to be very cosy and matched the performance well. The entrance may be difficult to find - just remember that it is on a 'close', i.e. a narrow alley.
