Reviews of Legends

I spent some amazing nights here but over the past few months it has very much become a hit or miss. Cheap and cheerful for a drink but wouldn't recommend going to dance unless there's a gig on!
R. M.
In for a gig, event was good, but the Irn Bru on draught really wasn't.
M. S.
Cool place, cheap drinks, a great venue for gigs. Music selection isn't the greatest one, I might be too old... it focus mainly on Nu-Metal, Metalcore and so on. Occasionally they play some classics but could definitely use more of it!
S. W.
A really good small and intimate rock music venue. I went on a Tuesday night where they have their weekly Deliverance goth club night, playing really loud industrial stuff. Really enjoyed it and I especially enjoyed the £1 vodka & cokes too hahaha. Looking forward to coming back
T. K.
One of the best nights I've had since moving to the UK!
It took me a while to realise the good music was on the *SECOND FLOOR*
but 10 out of 10 would recommend.
**if you like metal. Otherwise don't bother, really*
S. C.
I've only been here for a gig but I really liked the venue. Staff were friendly and the drinsk selection was decent. I liked the vibe of the place and upstairs room works really well for live music, giving a more intimate setting for live music but with benefits of a good stage and very good sound too. I'd love to come back here and see what it is like for other things, and will certainly check out future live music events.

Great night - just remember the actual metal is played upstairs. My friend and I were downstairs for 2 hours in the pub area before we realised this. DJ was slightly moody but overall a great night and atmosphere.
T. G.
Changed the bar again. It actually seems kind of clean now? Solid place with no pretense and decent music if you are in to a bit of rock. Drinks prices are still reasonable.
H. M.
Amazing karaoke and quizzes. All the staff here are really helpful and good cheap drinks. Would definitely recommend this for a student night out or a meet up with friends.
M. W.
You will either love it or hate it. This depends entirely on your taste of music and level of pretentiousness. Opium is no frills. You have cheap drinks. You have rock, metal and alternative music split across floors. You have a good crowd. That's it.
P. M.
Had an amazing last night in Scotland in this club before traveling back home. Great music and people there.
J. E.
Great Rick club to end the night if you want to avoid chart music. Free entry though a bit pricey on drinks. Alright for gigs too.
J. K.
Popular rock club. Always busy, always dirt-cheap. Usually hard-rock/ metal on the upstairs dance-floor, with the occasional live gig. Not for everybody, but can be hugely fun if you're in the mood for a loud, sweaty, graffiti-covered night out.
D. S.
Been a while since I was here, friendly staff and was a good night. Even when I was a bit daft due to the drink and broke me ankle!
K. M.
Went on Friday when they played metal and rock upstairs. Had a fantastic time. Be prepared for a lovely hangover/sore neck from head banging the day after.

Good to try the rock/metal scene in Edinburgh espech if you're staying in Cowgate, the real club nights are upstairs. Or if you want to rest there a high backed chairs at the ground floor.
B. B.
Great rock/ metal bar, pool room etc, great mix of friendly people and friendly staff. Must visit for anyone who loves rock/metal music!
C. R.
Outstanding place, the Christmas staff they brought in were a bit clueless but the main staff and bouncers are sound, good mix off music from classic rock to metal and a bit of punk and new punk aswell
D. C.
The place in Edinburgh for Metal music fans.
Positives:
+Very good ambiance
+Very well located on the famous Cowgate
Minus:
-Drinks are very low quality
-Decoration is minimal
A. M.
Expect rock, metal and reasonable drinks prices at this bar, nightclub and gig venue
G. F.
Not bad for a night out. Drinks are average priced. Music is OK.
R. L.
Regular place. Student haven. Cheap drinks. Casual. Recently smartened up (although I liked the more rough previous look).
M. K.
Heavy metal and rock music. Must go if you like this kind of music. Excellent ambient and the prices are ok.
j. m.
Total dive bar, but I've been coming here for years and has a good atmosphere when it's busy
S. J.
Great music, good atmosphere. Can be very crowded though
S. D.
Rock bar, so obviously not super nice inside. Music downstairs good, upstairs is a bit niche.
D. J. G. (.
Not as good as it used to be. Good music, OK drink prices. Fusball table :-)
R. C.
Don't go on a Saturday night it's well too packed but if you want a small mosh among some lads it's the place to be
K. S.

Q. A.
Best place I've been in Edinburgh for rock or metalheads
D. C.
Rock downstairs and usually metal upstairs. If that is your scene then this place is for you!
J. L.
Thumping hard Rock is hard to find but this place has it seeping out of the walls.
M. C. (.
Heavy metal and rock club. Downstairs to chat upstairs to dance.
J. G. L.
Great staff and great music.
C. B.
Good selection of music on the jukebox.

(Translated) The lady behind the bar constantly looks sour, the gentlemen on the other hand are great! Music downstairs could be better. Upstairs is an arrogant DJ, who can't even give a normal answer. All this on a normal Saturday night. No gigs or karaoke. Maybe it's fun then.
