Reviews of Monkey Barrel Comedy
J.
Monkey barrel comedy is a great venue for shows. Easy to find and a good vibe. Staff are excellent and the rooms intimate for some good old fashioned audience participation
The chairs were nice & padded in one room but pure metal in the other room.. Its luck of the draw I guess.
Free water was nice touch. Will be back best comedy place in Edinburgh
G. F.
Visited here for a Fringe show and it was a great venue. The staff moved everyone around efficiently, the directions were clear and the view was good.
The only thing I would advise is that it was absolutely roasting inside - but it’ll be because of the lights, hot weather and number of people in the audience.
R. H.
We had a great night at Monkey Barrel Comedy Club in early July. Nice atmosphere and a great show. So much laughter. Rick's roasts were hilarious. Good and quick system for ordering drinks - except for Stuart

A fun experience to lighten one's travel day through comedy. All the performers were obviously talented and a personal favorite was Krystal.
M. K.
I recommend the Monkey Barrel Comedy for a wee drink and a lot of laughter. A warm place with a freezing floor.
Ps: I loved the audience, which was sitting by the side of the stage and laughing by themselves on the 13th of December 2022!

Absolutely superb place to enjoy comedy!
Great host, great MC and basically everything that makes Edinburgh a world leader in comedy. Come here for a night out and I promise you won't regret it.

First time going to a comedy club and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed at the bar before the doors opened for the 5pm performance. Once seated before the show, staff made sure we were all good, showing where we could order drinks and its tablet service during the performance, and where the toilets are.
All the performances were amazing and I didn’t stop laughing at any moment.
Would definitely come again and recommend to anyone who wants a good night out and a laugh.. we all deserve one!
S. P.
Had a fantastic time at The Monkey Barrel Comedy. I am an amputee and the staff member, helped me down the stairs at the entrance. We went to" Larry Dean " and had a wonderful evening. I will certainly be back to this venue again 👏 …
P. B.
Visited for a Sunday night show with 3 friends.....What an amazing show and at only £8 a ticket was incredible value. All the acts were hysterical, drinks table service was really efficient and so reasonably priced. Biggest shout out goes to the staff who were friendly, attentive and just brilliant and done everything possible to make sure you had the best time. I'd 100% recommend a visit.
A. L.
Fantastic night at the big show!!! Plenty of belly laughs and good vibes all around. Will definitely return again next time we’re in Edinburgh.
B.
I went to the show on Monday and thoroughly enjoyed myself! Great laughs and all four comedians and the host were great. The staff was friendly and helpful. I found the ticket price to be worth every penny and the drinks were very reasonably priced as well. Good times were had all around and I hope to be back in the future!

Booked in for the 9:00 "big show!" on Friday night. 14 quid each for an evening with four different stand up comics. Great place, brilliant atmosphere, decent selection of drinks available plus wood fired pizzas aswel. Table service is available during the show using a QR code which is a great! Would definitely recommend for an evening out if your in Edinburgh.
Thanks for a very entertaining evening!
D. C.
Brilliant venue with very friendly staff.
I was running a fair bit late, and the staff were exceptionally accommodating to sit my partner near the back entrance. They snuck me in while the show was going on avoiding any disruption to other patrons. I wasn't expecting them to be so accommodating but it was absolutely no issue for them - friendly and helpful throughout.
Cannot fault that level of customer service.
Venue itself is brilliant for stand up comedy. Medium size, well lit, and plenty of ventilation considering it could become a sweat-box in there.
Bar is good with a nice selection of drinks and snacks.
R. L.
Absolutely excellent, visiting Edinburgh for Christmas and my partner and I were looking for last minute evening plans. Turned out to be one the highlights of our trip. Would 100% recommend - a really good atmosphere, friendly staff and lots of audience participation especially if you manage to bag front row seats like we did! 😂 …

My husband and I came here for our last night of honeymoon and so pleased we did. It works on a first come first served basis and luckily we got there in time. It's only £14 per head for 4 acts plus the host did some comedy. I was nervous as we walked in as there was a stag party in front of us, much to my delight they had to pay a behaviour deposit which is a fantastic idea. So immediately I felt relaxed that there would be no trouble (sorry to you stags, I know you're not all the same) and surprisingly it was a drunk woman who caused the trouble.
We were shown to our seats where we had plenty of room, weren't crammed up next to strangers and had a table to the side for drinks. There was table service during the show which was great.
All comedy acts were really funny and we had a great time. Would definitely recommend an evening here.
M. E.
After they got over the small glitch with the WiFi for payments. It was a really enjoyable evening. 3 great comedians plus the compere. Excellent staff kept the drinks coming. Would highly recommend , it's a great night out .
E. E.
I went for the Thursday show, it was fantastic!! my first time at a comedy club and I absolutely loved it. Every act was so funny and individually had their own style of humour. having a host really brought the show all together. The host was so hilarious as he just made fun of everyone in the crowd, glad I didn't get picked on!
J. Y.
Amazing, definitely worth a visit! The host was fab, Ruth and MC Hammersmith were brilliant. Great atmosphere, would love to come back
M. Y.
Seating was good. Performances were good. They served pizza slices as the only real food option, which is fine since it's better than other places that don't sell any food. They let you order from your phone and get it delivered to your table, so it's convenient.
l. e.
Excellent value!!. We saw 3 amazing fringe acts and one lovely MC. Great value for £6 each on a Thursday in November. Really topped off our trip and the cosy setting and nice table service just added to the vibe. Would highly recommend.
P. C.
We went on Sunday and Monday, both nights were amazing. The hosts were expert, and the comedians ranged from above average to outstanding! Good vibes overall and sit in the front if you want to be teased warmly.
P. S.
Had my first visit here on Tuesday, November 22, in order to see Sally-Ann Hayward perform her act.
Loved the venue as it’s small, but really fitting and you get to see the performers close up.
Staff were friendly and helpful and I’ll be back to enjoy more, even though I’ll be travelling up from London.
P. M.
Excellent venue, great staff, good bar. Thoroughly enjoyed the Josie Long performance.
P. K.
We went to the Free for All night and had a really beautiful evening. The vibes were so good and we laughed a lot. Having new comedians coming up every five minutes made it even better, because it got never boring. We were afraid there was going to be a language barrier and the comedians would be hard to understand, but we were proven wrong. International comedians made the program easy to follow, only two to three acts were difficult to understand because of their slang.
Also being served on your table throughout the night was a great add on, there was less hectic in the room because of that, which helped to focus on the stage.
Free for All night and Monkey Barrel Comedy is definitely worth a visit!
L. S.
We attended the show on Saturday night. All The comedians were amazing. A very well organised event from start to finish. Drink service spot on. Ordered from an app and delivered to your table. Can’t wait to return
M. S.
Great night out, the comedians were really good and with four different comedians there was something for most tastes. The venue is small enough to feel intimate, but large enough for a good atmosphere.
S. G.
A spontaneous visit with last minute tickets on the door did not disappoint! The host (George) was fantastic & the acts were great, specifically Christopher & Rossco had us howling. Intimate setting.
S. W.
Please check this out if you are in the mood for laughs! Friendly staff with clear instruction on where to go at what times etc. you’re then taken down to the show, seated and given a QR code to order drinks and snacks to your table. Great variety of comedians including the very funny and welcoming host.
S. C.
Great Friday night show. 4 good comedians and loads of laughs
P.
Great night out when in Edinburgh. Good acts and lots of fun. Check it out.
M. O.
Cracking little comedy club. Subterranean, not massive so very close up which leads to a lot of good comedian/audience banter. As ever, comedians hit and miss, but 3 of 4 worth seeing the night we went.
K. K.
We had a great time. The staff was super nice and all the comedians were amazing!
S. H.
Fantastic evening at the 9pm Big comedy show. Nice seating with table drink service. We were laughing all night!
M. M.
This is a small venue located on a hill down from Hunter's Square. It has the exposed tenement brick interior traditional of these types of buildings. For the fringe it is a very cramped and hot venue, take a fan and cold water as the temperature can reach 30 degrees Celsius indoors! We saw some good comedy here of semi famous names.
D. M.
What a brilliant night out. Fantastic acts and a fantastic host will not hesitate to come back again really superb comedy from everyone. Nice and Covid safe having temp check and hand san on arrival, table service only which the prices aren't too bad either. Would recommend for anyone who wants a laugh
M. H.
Our first comedy club and we loved it!
The host was hilarious and the acts we saw increased in humour throughout the show.
For the price paid for tickets, definitely worth a visit!
K. K.
Didn’t see a show here, but watched a fight happening across the way from this place my first night in edinburgh. The staff was very cool, especially the bouncer. Definitely five stars from this American tourist. ❤️
S. G.
Really enjoyed this comedy night. I went on a Saturday. It was well organise.
T. F.
It was a really fun night. Everyone was nice and in a good mood. I was a bit afraid of getting completely roasted because was just on the first row. But in the end it was all fun and chilled
C. H.
Mixed emotions here..... The act (Catherine Bohart) was phenomenal as usual. Unfortunately, the venue is very cramped, there were too many people for the space but probably just enough to make it worth the acts effort, the chairs are distressingly uncomfortable and the temperature inside must have been approaching 40°. Luckily, Catherine was so enjoyable I was able to tolerate the venue, but if it was an act unknown to me I probably wouldn't go back.
L. L.
Great night of comedy. Four different acts and an incredible MC, George! Loads of laughs and great interactions with the audience. Highly recommended.
M. C.
Had a great night of comedy. Staff are fantastic. Well worth a visit on a night out. But remember to bookb
C. J.
Staff are so polite friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We visited sat 30th June and we booked the couples vip package, Comfier seats, reserved table, a sharing platter and a bottle of prosecco on ice made it even better. I’ve been to a lot of comedy nights and this place is by far one of the best ones. Intimate but relaxed and spacious. Will book every time I visit Edinburgh without a doubt.
N. D.
Great show on Saturday night. Host was hilarious as were the first two comics, third was brave but cringy, fourth went big but missed and came off as out of touch.
F. G.
First time attending a comedy show, it was an absolute (monkey) barrel of laughs. Staff friendly, great atmosphere and brilliant comedians. Couldn’t fault it!
L. E. B.
A fun night out in nice surroundings, great comedians, god service and great sound quality. All in all a really fun experience.
C. d. M.
Great comedy club. Good seating as well. A bit too much audience interaction at times but the acts are mostly very funny. Wide selection of drinks at the bar as well. The one thing that is a bit tight is the men’s loo. Make sure to drink wine (surprisingly good wines for a comedy club actually) to avoid seeing too much of it. The staff there are extremely friendly and (some) comedians even chat with people after the show at times which makes this a great experience. Surrounded by good bars and restaurants and easy to reach by public transport or on foot - like everything in Edinburgh really.
E. M.
Great night out. Acts were really good, nice atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced as well. The venue is a smaller than some other clubs, but I think that added to the atmosphere. It made the interaction between the acts and the crowd more personal which allowed for some great comedy!
T.
Our Stag Do group felt welcome at The Monkey Barrel and we all had a great time. Would definitely recommend a visit!
M. A.
We went to the Big Friday show. Great energy, great comedians and host. A Great thing to do in Edinburgh,
F. C.
Best comedy show I've ever been to! Literally my first day in Edinburgh and it absolutely made it!
A.
Great little bar, friendly atmosphere and was lucky enough to see Larry Dean. Was in no.3, it's directly opposite door no.1 if anyone is looking for it. It could do with a sign.
C. M.
Crude, rude but absolutely hilarious. Lovely to see an eclectic range of fantastic comedians! Will be back
A. M.
Came here for the first time tonight, had an excellent time! The venue is very small but in my opinion this is an advantage as it allows the stand up to be much more intimate and involved. The bar staff were really helpful and our host was really inviting and comfortable.
Highlight of the evening was Daisy, her set was truly hilarious 😆 thanks from Alan and Nat.
M. C.
Lovely venue for comedy. Great atmosphere. Table service which was cool. Cheap entry. Great line up including Daniel Sloss. My partner tripped outside and hurt her ankle. The bar seen this and came out, called taxi, got ice, he was a great help. All around great place.
T. B.
Went here to see a pre fringe comedy show and it’s super cool in there! The bar has a great range of drinks, the show area is super cute and personal for when you’re seeing the acts, they have student discount on the bar too, so that’s always great!
The toilets were super clean and the staff were really great too! It’s not too far out of the way from town too so I would definitely recommend going in, even just for a drink!
A. P.
Great classic comedy club, impeccably organised, super friendly staff. Would go there every weekend if I’d live in Edinburgh.
K. L.
Nice intimate setting for a night of laughter. Super friendly staff and great system for ordering drinks during the show. Really good option for a laid-back night in Edinburgh.
S. T.
Genuinely everyone on stage was funny. Venue felt a little run down and the seats became a bit uncomfortable after a while.
Still had an amazing time. Will have to come back!
K. L.
We had a fantastic evening here, all the drinks ordered via a qr code. They comedy was great and the environment was safe and friendly. Well done Monkey Barrel we will be back.
S. S.
The Comedians were funny, great atmosphere and we had so many good laughs. Would definitely recommend.
S. S.
Went to the 9pm show past night, very good for new material night! The space was warm, which I wasn't expecting and everyone, from the staff to the acts were so polite and it was a lovely atmosphere everywhere you looked. I want to thank you for looking after us so well and you've sold me so I'll be coming back for sure!
C. R.
Great 5.00pm show at The Monkey Barrel - friendly cosy environment and brilliant entertainment - excellent value.
B. O. U.
Loved it very funny intimate close set comedy club with easy to order drinks . Temperature check on the way in. #alexastop #loveyoulongtime
C. L.
Monkey Barrel is probably the best comedy club I've been to. They get everything right! It's no wonder they attract the best acts on the circuit and during the Fringe.
A. M.
Second time visiting and both have been just as good as one another. Had us in stitches all the way through, better than some of the bigger venues comedy shows we've been to. Will definitely be visiting again next time we're in Edinburgh
L. M.
I had misread the website and hadn't appreciated i could buy the ticket in advance, i read first come first served when i arrived early as suggested they were sold out, which is the norm as so good. I hung about as advised by the friendly and helpful staff and managed to get a seat, through a no show or just one space left.
The compere is hilarious, a great stand up and managed the banter well.. The 3 acts were brilliant in their own unique way.
A must do if in Edinburgh and you enjoy comedy. Thanks guys and gals for a great night
The mirrors in the ladies is for tall people 😜
M. M.
Fantastic Saturday night. Great helpful and friendly staff. Well organised. Brilliant atmosphere x
M. R.
Tiny little comedy club but amazing atmosphere. Went for the fringe. Ideal location. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
C. M.
My wife and I had a great Sunday evening here. Really friendly vibe from staff, love the fact the comedians are practically in the crowd. QR code for ordering drinks etc from your seat is just brilliant. Oh, and we laughed a lot too!
N. T.
Went for an early 5pm show. Very impressed overall - especially for the price paid.
Walked in to a temperature check and squeeze off sanitizer. Drinks were able to be placed at the bar upstairs or served to your seat via QR code during the show.
We were brought to our first come, first served seats - well organized. Drinks served promptly.
The show was good. The host - George Fox (apologies for spelling) - was amazing as well as the final act.
If you're looking for a good laugh for a cheap night out, I would definitely recommend it.
The loss of one star comes from the first and second act not being overly funny.
K. K.
Great venue and the staff are brilliant! Highly recommend a visit
R. W.
Great little venue, no frills, just simple laughs and good value. Staff are very organised and clearly have fun. Good selection of comics on the night and good drinks. Give it a try!
I. L.
Brilliant fun, comedians were top notch!! The bar staff quick and friendly, but avoid white wine though, it was horrible and expensive! Definitely recommend it though!!
J. R.
Working on ventilation ducts, no one else in the building. Foot steps going up the stairs or coming down them CREEPED me out. LOVED IT
R. A.
Hidden gem in Ediburgh. Fabulous spot with innovation and fun comic acts. Super cheap too and worth every penny. Drinks are good too. Must visit to experience some local scenes and vibes.
R. S.
First time here for a Friday night comedy and had one of the best nights ever! Each act was absolutely hilarious and it's a great environment to be in. If you're considering trying it out then definitely do so, you will not regret it!
J. W.
We found it a little confusing that there were TWO places by the same name, opposite each other and that the BIG show was in what looked to be the smaller venue.
Other than that minor issue... Great night and good atmosphere, cozy bar too.
M. M.
Excellent place, good priced drinks in a amazing venue. Comedians were great and it was cheap. Don't just think of the Stand when you want comedy in Edinburgh
M. D.
Went for 7pm show last night. Lasted about 1,5 hours with four various acts and great host. Would definitely recommend as overall experience was brilliant!
H. B.
Me and my partner had a amazing time. Very intimate and high quality experience, being close to the comics only hightens the experience. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Make this place on your list to visit while in Edinburgh.
M. B.
Good venue for comedy. Went here a couple of times during the festival.
Bar now upstairs so get drinks before you descend to the comedy stage.
P. W.
Fabulous night tonight, all of the comedians were great but Fern Brady was amazing,we haven't laughed so much in ages. The whole experience was great, fantastic service & amazing value, we would highly recommended. Just go & enjoy an amazing night 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍 …
W. S.
Great venue with a fast efficient bar service. Ample room in the venue with good seating to ensure a good view all around. We went to a comedy night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly professional and efficient staff ensured event was Butter smooth! Well done guys!
R. M.
The comedy lineup was the most diverse I’ve seen in any comedy club so far. As a result the comedy was brilliant- super inclusive and not relying on old tropes to get some reluctant laughs. The host has to deal with a very difficult audience, with 3 groups of people getting asked to leave half way through a comedians set for talking, and then trying to fight each other. The staff dealt with this well and the show was still very enjoyable for everyone else. Big up the host who did a wonderful job of keeping the show going through some very inconsiderate drunk silliness.
J. J. M.
Very well organised venue. Excellent stage sound and lights. Beer's a bit expensive.
C. M.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff and a good laugh! Will definitely come back 😁 …
W. K.
The best comedy show I've been to including shows with much "bigger" names. Went for a Sunday night show which had a really nice fun but chilled atmosphere. All 6 comedians were great.
J. W.
We went to the new act comedy night. It was great, only cost of a couple of quid for tickets. Its table service and you order using a QR code to the table. The host was brilliant
D. M.
Great venue amongst the atmospheric South St Bridge and its vaults. Good remote app based ordering system for drinks in these Covid days. Good mix of acts and a really good compare.
P. H.
Brilliant night was a group of 8 of us. Venue made us feel welcome and all 8 enjoyed the comedy. We all had a great night and venue was well worked.
N. V. D. M.
What a fun and entertaining evening of stand up comedy. Loads of laughs had by all in this intimate comedy club. Would definitely visit again if I find myself in Edinburgh in the future.
C.
Really nice and cozy Place to have a drink and watch a show. If you don't know what to do on a weekday evening, try to catch one of the Spontaneous Potter/Sherlock impro show. You won't regret.
Á. K.
Absolutely hilarious comics. Can't wait to go back so I can cry again 🤣 …
D. M.
Cool place for comedy, nice intimate settingz great host. Enjoyed the comedians that were trying their material out for this year's Fringe Fest.
L. B.
Went to see Adam Rowe, contacted the staff about accessibility issues and they were very helpful over email and when at the venue. Amazing venue! Amazing staff!
A. H.
Fantastic night of comedy, we went to the later show at 9pm, and it was hilarious. 4 acts, all brilliant and the bar selection was great, with table service too.
S. S.
Came here for some comedy, that's what we got. Some brilliant comedians and the host is very engaging and knows how to get the crowd hyped up. Bar staff are very attentive, a really gem of Edinburgh and will be going again!
t.
3 hilarious local comedians made for a fantastic night. Great value, drinks brought to the table quickly after ordering. Compere also worth a mention, really got the audience going. Highly recommended
L. M.
Me and my partner came here during our trip to Edinburgh and was a great night! They had very funny and charming acts. Hope to come back again.
D. E.
Absolutely loved it, so much so we visited twice during our 5 days in Edinburgh. Staff were really friendly and acts were superb for the price.
B. M.
First time going to a comedy club. It was absolutely brilliant defo coming back!
s. o.
My wife and I went to one of the shows on Saturday, such a unique venue , staff are very pleasant and attentive and the show was non stop laughing from start to finish. Would definitely recommend to anyone as part of their night out.
S. T.
Had such a good experience. We were recommended to go here by someone else and were not disappointed. Crying with laughter. And they were very accommodating with the situation with Covid by ordering drinks to your sits which made the experience even better. 100% going back
C. H.
Fab night at monkey barrel - some great comics. A great night out
H. H.
£25 for a group of four to watch 5 comedians, comfortable seats and drinks brought to table, we thoroughly enjoyed 2 out of the 5 comedians on show but the compere was also very good, this was well worth the money, basically the cost of a pint in Edinburgh, lots of laughs ,highly recommended.
D. H.
First time visiting as part of the Fringe. Great venue and good service.
J. N.
Definitely a nice venue with a great bar. The drawings of comedians on the wall are great and definitely keep you entertained while waiting on a show to start! We went to see Spontaneous Sherlock and it was very funny. The comedians were light hearted and quick witted. The way the chairs are set up makes you feel immersed. Would definitely go again! After all it is different everytime.
J. R. (.
Had the best night here! Laughed so hard! Ordered snacks and pizza which (omg the pizza) where amazing! Great banter and customer service! Table service Order system was perfect! Will deffo be back once Omicron Fs off 10/10

One of the best comedy clubs in Scotland.
This was the place I got my first chance to perform at an open mic night back in 2018
Have been a regular performer and guest ever since. Can't wait to be able to get back and perform live shows 🙌
B. H. A.
Great Service. Great Venues. Great Comedy. The guy on the door of Monkey Barrel 1 was are star comedy worker of the festival
J. F.
Would definitely recommend on a visit to Edinburgh, the comedians were hilarious, money & time well spent.
G. J.
The acts are all totally different and hilarious, such a great price for a great night out- the place itself has a great atmosphere too and the drinks were well priced and delicious.
D. D.
Intimate venue, hilarious comedians, overall a great time!
A. B.
I was in Edinburgh for a short holiday getaway and stumbled upon the Monkey Barrel Comedy Club while browsing online one evening for something to do. Students get in for free and everyone else pays 3 pounds at the door I believe it was. The doors opened at 7pm and the show began at 8pm, or something along those lines. If I had to make an educated guess I'd say the venue could hold about 50 to 60 people or so. It was small enough to feel personal but big enough to not get picked on by the comedians. There was a variety of acts and also the Top Banana contest that night (best new act). There was also a bar with a good selection and toilets. The show went on for a couple hours but it didn't feel like it! The host/MC for the evening was Liam and he was absolutely hilarious. The comedians were great! This was my first experience at a comedy club and I really enjoyed it! An excellent place to go for an evening in Edinburgh! Next time I'm in the area I will definitely go back!
R. D.
By far the most fun I've had in Edinburgh. Top notch!
M. F.
My aching sides!! Great Friday night show with 4 really funny acts and a great compère!! Drinks prices not bad either and bought to your seat throughout the show😁🤣 …
N. y. B.
The acts we had are below, would definitely recommend all of them had a brilliant night!
Liam Withnell
Krystal Evans
Leo rike
Chris Thornbury
Gareth watch
j. e.
First proper night out after Covid lockdown and I couldn't have picked a better place to go. Easy to get a drink to my table, the compere had me in stitches and the comedians were all brilliant. Shame about some of the weird crowd at the show, but you can't help that!!!
H.
Partner and I went to see the fantastic Nish Kumar, the gig was wonderful! The venue itself was very well set up for the current COVID 19 regulations in Scotland with 1 meter social distancing. I was pleasantly surprised how clean and nice the toilets (often shocking in comedy clubs)
Table service was in operation and ordered via the website from QR code on the table.
Highly recommended the venue especially for the Fringe.
K. W. P.
Our first stop on our first trip to the Edinburgh Fringe for my teenage son and I. The staff were really friendly and funny to boot! The Covid safety measures were reassuring (temp checks at the door and well spaced seating). The QR ordering worked well and was well organised so as not to disrupt the show.
S. T. 4.
Cosy venue in a great location in the city. The line up for stand up is varied and they deliver good laughs; be prepared to get roasted if you sit near the front 😂😫 …
C. N.
Fantastic night out. Thoroughly enjoyed the show even with the smaller audience. Will be back when I'm next in Edinburgh!
H. A.
Amazing place, extremely talented comedians - great evening guaranteed!
J. R.
Great comedy club with it's streamlined order from your phone COVID protocols down pat. We had an awesome time and would only suggest turning on some heaters, y'all! Was cold down there.
J. K.
What a gem, if visiting as a couple or group, fantastic night. All comedians were hilarious and varied. Visited the big show on a Friday night, I Was Looking for something to do on a night that wasn't drinking as I'm pregnant and what a show. Sober or heading out for a session. . great night out!!! I would have happily paid more to be fair and host is just brilliant.
A. C.
Ordered drinks on phone, arrived in 20 seconds! Fun relaxed place where your name could be drawn to go up on stage and improve for 5 minutes.... "barrel, barrel, barrel!"
J. F.
Saw Josie Long. Very good set, good venue.
N. P.
Hilarious!
A brilliant night of comedy. Highly recommended.
A. F.
Really great laugh. Good little club with a few good acts and host. Good range of drinks too well worth a visit
K.
Good comedy night. You can order drinks to your table using QR codes. Very pleasant place.
P. M.
Great comedy, good seats and cheap drinks. My partner and I, came here for a comedy night and we weren't disappointed the host was attentive and responded to crowd. In addition to this the actual acts were hilarious themselves. In addition to this the drinks were reasonably priced. The only negative was the small toilets but would reccomend again!
A. L.
Excellent venue, excellent acts at all times.
j. w.
Fern Brady is a future comedy star I believe after watching many comedy club newbies taking the plunge. She was continuously so naturally funny. We, my partner and I truely want to thank you Fern for making us laugh so,so much, what a night 😆. …
J. J.
AMAZING! Had such a good night and diddnt stop laughing! 🤩 …
l. x.
Really great show, if I could give more stars I would
Went on a Wednesday night for the banana show it was packed with great acts either new to the club or residents trying out new material
Host was fantastic, set the tone for the show
Headliner at the end was hilarious and manic
Great price on drinks and very covid/hygiene conscious which is always great to see
10/10 would come again and reccomend to a friend
J. F.
Brilliant venue to host the innovative Spontaneous Potter show - an improvised set based on audience suggestions. Great selection of drinks. Seats are a bit crammed if you're over 6ft. Would love to see something here again however.
I. L.
An excellent comedy club. Have been several times and is always a really fun experience
P.
This was a good place to go and see some comedy but it had two big flaws.
Firstly, we turned up as the doors opened (one hour before the show started) to make sure we got some good seats but they tell you where you have to sit as you arrive so we got sat in a terrible place with a load of tall blokes in front of us (and the stage is very low). So don't bother turning up early unless you're wanting to make the most of the bar etc.
Secondly, and I wouldn't normally punish a venue for this, the people behind us were talking ALL THE TIME. Right through when the acts were on. We told them to shut up many times, as did all the other people around us, but they never stopped and so they ruined the show for us. The reason I'm punishing the venue itself with my rating is because they never said "no talking during the show". Every other comedy club I've been to make a big deal of this rule and this place should. More importantly, no staff member ever came and told them to either be quiet or leave.
I'm sure that, if you happened to be sitting over on the other side of the room, it was a great show. The host on our evening was very poor but the acts made up for it. The bar is decent and the place has great decor and a good atmosphere.
M. E.
Went to Monkey Barrel for the 5pm show on a Saturday, we had a great time and laughed the whole way through. Definitely recommend getting tickets when you're in Edinburgh.
W. D.
Went here with my friends for one of the shows and it was a really great experience. Everyone is really friendly and the atmosphere is really nice.
J. D.
What a brilliant night out. Went to the 1st show and loved it that much we stayed for the 2nd show. Great laugh in a good location 👍👌 …
J. L.
Wonderful new comedy venue. Holds around 100 - 150 people (at a guess) so I would highly recommend pre booking tickets - fly booked when we went and they were turning people away. It has a small bar but reasonably priced. The comedians were on the whole great (3/4) the compare was perfect, can't fault him. The Venue has only been open 7 weeks but I hope it goes from strength to strength.
S. A.
Great night of comedy! The acts were hilarious. The main downside was we were crammed in like sardines.
Good craft beer selection. No food available except a hot dog that looked like it had been there since before Arthur's Seat was formed.
M. D.
This comedy club is fantastic. We are students so didn't have to pay anything for entry. The bar was a little pricey but since we didn't pay anything to get in we couldn't really complain. The Tuesday night acts were very funny and the host was hilarious, interacting with the audience as well. We will definitely be back!
B. F.
Went tonight & it was amazing from start to finish!! We had the loveliest guy greet us outside and take us through to sort us out with seats. The drinks were fairly priced and delivered with a smile! Compere was absolutely hilarious followed by 5 acts varying from good to great. All except one has us in absolute stitches but the poor lad in the middle seemed very nervous. We were willing him to overcome his nerves but I think they got the better of him in the end. Anyway, this didn’t tarnish the night at all as everyone starts somewhere! Everyone else was so so funny! Thank you Monkey Barrel Comedy for making our last night in Edinburgh so great :)
D. M.
I have seen countless acts in the Monkey Barrel and never a bad one. Great club, great location, atmosphere unbelievable. Pub prices, lovely staff. As comedy clubs go, this takes beating.
P. K.
Superb! Host especially was hilarious. Was lucky/unlucky enough to be sat in the front row so got singled out by one of the acts but hey it’s all part of the experience and made my night. Bar prices were very fair too and staff all friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone, great stuff.
E. B.
Wasn't our first choice for a comedy club, just found it online. It was such a great night, staff were friendly and acts were really funny. Great night out for a couple. Drink prices were good. Definitely recommend
F. C.
Went there with a friend on Nov. 2019, and it really is a good show, we laughed a lot. As a French it was sometimes not easy to understand all their jokes, but overall really funny.
There are 2 (or 3?) pauses, and it is the perfect occasion to refill the beers!
A. C.
For 5 pounds, it was a great deal. The bar prices were fair. Lasted about 2.5 hours with 2 breaks. Wasn't busy so had good seats. Some comics were better than others, and some of the jokes I missed due to not being local and didn't know the slang terms they used. Despite that was enjoyable.
M. S.
Really good venue. Good selection of drinks and breaks in between acts to get to the bar. Comfortable atmosphere and very pleasant staff. The comedians they have lined up are great and the host is hilarious!
M.
Great little venue with some interesting unscripted comedy. Seating approximately 50 I would guess. We saw "Spontaneous Potter" where we got to write ideas for the show on slips of paper then they selected one at a time from the "sorting hat" and used that as a theme to improvise with. Obviously you can tell they're struggling sometimes, but they do very well to keep going all evening and provide many laughs. There's a bar with quite a selection of drink at reasonable city prices. There are regular breaks so you can get a refill. We are only here for 3 days but will look to come again if we visit Edinburgh in the future.
E. P.
We wanted a bit of entertainment on a weeknight this seemed perfect.
We booked the vip ticket which meant we had reserved seats a bottle of wine and a nibbles platter £30 for a couple .
It was a good deal , we had a choice of wine and the platter was perfect at half time. Contained some quiche scotch eggs , salad , olives ,crackers and cheese enough for a snack, ideal as we had had an early dinner.
The entertainment was a selection of comedians each doing 10min slots . They varied from established guys trying out new material to new acts.
It was a brilliant night . All acts were fab . Nobody died and most had the audience howling with laughter. The compare really got the crowd going .
Next time im back in Edinburgh ill definitely go again. A must do.
A. K.
Enjoyed the show on Friday night, so much fun!
V.
Hilarious, fantastic show
Highly recommend :)
P. H.
Absolutely superb. Very small venue, but worth the effort to find it. Just down from the Royal Mile, nearest bus stop is South Bridge, literally a two minute walk from the venue. Don't expect a massive stage and extravagant sets, but do be prepared to laugh your bits off. The compere Rick Molland is brilliant and gets the audience going well. The comedians we saw on 6th April were superb and rounded off a long day really well. Good service at the bar, but if you drink bitter/real ale then don't expect anything much....Guinness is great though. Not the cheapest drinks in town, but not too bad compared to many comedy clubs I've been to. If you like live comedy, up close and personal and want to venture away from pubs for a few hours, search this place out. Cracking night out.
O. M.
Every act was unique and hilarious. The crowd interaction was the best I've experienced. The staff was friendly and the bar selections were great. Definitely worth it to go on the big show on a friday night. I will go back again.
M. W.
Having visited a few times, I have always had a great time. The acts are varied but usually fantastic with a good priced bar too
s. g.
Went on a whim and it was a good night. The compare got everyone fired up and was worth the entrance fee alone. We enjoyed all the acts and added to the intimacy of the venue it made for a place I would recommend and go back to in an instant.
M. J.
Excellent, everything you might want from a comedy club in a cellar in Edinburgh. Nice and dark and full of people enjoying great comedians!
N.
Great club, good drinks and the live acts were brilliant perfect venue to visit on a stag do.
A. M.
Great night, good range of comedians and comfortable location. Watch the behaviour deposit as it's taken at point of buying tickets online but not given back on the night. It was easily sent back a day or two later but keep in mind.
B. K. D.
Went to see Top Banana one time and now I’m a Waugh-head for life! Great club, great atmosphere, a great night out!
V. S.
Great for a fun evening out. We did the alternative comedy walking tour in the morning and Danial was wonderful. Then we did the stand up show in the evening and that was pretty hilarious...especially Liam and Elliot. Good fun.
J. E.
Hilarious! all acts were really funny. The team were very welcoming and helpful service was good too.
G. U.
Great Show on Friday Night. Rikc the MC is an absolute comic genius. He had the audience in stitches from the first moment, without any real material - he just talked to the crowd and it was hilarious. It was actually disappointing when he brought the other acts on. All the acts was good. But, we all agreed that he was head and shoulders above them. Wonderful Comedy Club.
S. A.
I had an amazing night on new years. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced and the comedians were fantastic!
D. F.
Visited on the Wednesday night, which is new acts breaking their cherry and established acts practicing new material, all at the great price of £3pp. With tasty Hot dogs and some good deals on pitchers of cocktails they are well worth a visit. Raw comedy at it's finest.
M. R.
Great venue and well organised staff help guide you to a fantastic night!
I. F.
Visited on a Monday night to their open mic comedy night. A great evening of free entertainment from 8 til 10:30 PM. Licensed bar on site selling drinks at a pretty good rate. Some great up and coming comedians .
R. P.
Went on a Wednesday night and had a great time. All the acts were great. Brilliant value for money
P. F.
Great night with Tom Stade and efficient staff dealing with a couple of gentlemen who had too many Shandy's on board. Very good evening and will be back.
Z. M.
We found that the funniest person was the host, enjoyed all his best.
2 out of the 4 acts were clearly too drunk. One didn't even seem prepared.
Overall, whilst there were some decent funny bits, we found the acts to be too crass and completely surrounding sex or sexual nature - which gets too much after a while.
M. T.
First time that I saw a comedy show live and I seriously laughed my butt off. The host did a great job a roasting the audience. Even us Dutch did get special red lights to feel more at home. If you are in the neighborhood make sure you got to there Saturday night show.
J. B.
Never dull, this eccentric gem will make any night a fun sharp witted excursion you'd be foolish to miss. Open 7 days with food and a well stocked bar with their own beer Monkey Barrel is the best of nights out. Whether you wish to participate and learn improv or see the best of all types of comedy it never disappoints. Just off the Royal Mile affordable and nicely run. Go . My favourite place.
L. P.
Waaaaayyyyy too much audience involvement. And once they were encouraged, the more drunk the front row got, the more it interfered with the actual comedy we paid to see. Audience interaction is awesome but turns out there’s a line. The Comedians tried to counteract the disruption but it mostly just encouraged it. I mean, it was mostly funny...and then it was just kind of awkward and boring and I wanted out.
S. Z.
Absolutely amazing night of comedy with an incredible host. They handled the crowd well and each comedian was incredible. Good deals on reserved seating and drinks/food when you buy ahead as well.
T. C.
Small intimate comedy venue offering a wide variety of performances and acts. Decent bar and helpful staff. It does get warm but that's probably because you are laughing so much!
m. r.
Brilliant venue. Entertainment was hilarious. Safe venue with social distancing and table service. Recommended 😂🤣😅 …
B. A.
Amazing club, visited plenty of times during the fringe festival. They serve drinks in 2pint glasses so you don't have to keep going to the bar! The staff are so helpful and they put on great gigs.
N. G.
Highly recommend. All the acts were hilarious and the host was just amazing with great interaction with the whole crowd. Priced really well and such a good night for all the friends to gather
T. N.
Had a fun night , staff were great and the acts were entertaining and funny.
R. G.
I had an absolutely amazing time at the Spontaneous Potter show. The cast was spectacular, the content was hilarious. Well worth the £5 ticket. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
A. C.
The show we saw was great, and good value for money. The drinks are on the pricey side, but that is to be expected. Lovely staff however, and their special beer was rather pleasant.
G. L.
Nice little club with many many laughs.
Thursday's have the Spontaneous Players. Very funny.
D. A.
Had a great night. The acts were very good. Enjoyed fat Lee Mac (Rick Molland) 😛 …
A. F.
Highly recommend, had a great evening here. Took advantage of the ticket and meal deal which was great value. Watch 4 acts of which 3 were fabulous and the host was spot on.
K. G.
Wow is all I can say. In town from Los Angeles and regularly attend all the big clubs in that area and the free (donation recommend) alternative comedy show was one of the best experience I have ever had in my entire life. No structure, all laughter, definitely would pay to see this in L.A. Support the comedians, they deserve it.
A. J.
Fantastic vibe! We were lucky to get tickets when pre-booked guests were no shows. So glad we waited it out to get the tickets. When I ever travel to Edinburgh again, I'll make a point to visit this place again.
Z. S.
Fantastic night. Great amosphere and very well organised. Acts were fantastic, may not be to everyone’s taste, but they had us in tears. Hecklers who kept going on were told to shut up, which was brilliant. Highly recommend and if in the area again, would go back.
S. S.
Fun experience and really liked that we could order drinks to our seats!
A. M.
Great way to spend a night out in Edinburgh, fantastic comedy at a great price. Not one to miss!
I. S.
Fantastic comedy inside an awesome venue. 5 stars!
A. J.
A great night out whilst in Edinburgh. A small club with a welcoming atmosphere and one of our favourite parts of our trip
M. B. (.
I love this place, great for a good laugh (you would hope so) beer is reasonably priced and they serve a mean hot dog. However be warned, don't dress too warm as it really can get very hot in there.
D. S.
Finally managed to catch a show here last night. Would definitely recommend and go again!
S.
Fun little underground comedy venue right in the middle of Edinburgh's historic quarter. Friendly bar staff and ushers, good selection of drinks, and a really good roster of funny people to make you chuckle.
A. P.
Great stand up acts and reasonably priced booze 👍🏻 …
J. L.
We had a great time, all four acts were really funny, staff were attentive with the drinks and really friendly! Will be coming back!
A. W. (.
Amazing venue for intimate stand-up experience. Highly recommend if you're into Stand-up and in the Edinburgh area
S. V.
Our go-to for comedy in Edinburgh! Also good drinks and super affordable on any given day of the week!
R. T.
Amazing comedy experience. Having a female primary host promotes more equality in this patriotic world.
M. D.
Really funny! If you want to be the center of attention sit in the first row. Great killer punch. If you are up for a laugh, and would like to listen to Scottish accent, while in Edinburgh, go there!
H. P.
Excellent night out, went as part of a stag doo and his made the night! The comedians were top notch and drinks were fairly priced.. I highly recommend!
S. L.
We visited on the12/07/19 with a stag party. A cosy little vue.The M/C was brilliant, really worked the crowd well. Unfortunately the acts that night I was there were a bit weak. However I would visit again if Iwas in Edinburgh
V. P.
I went here for a fringe stand up show and was really happy to see that it wasn't in the basement! It's got space for about 60 people and is quite comfortable. Audio was clear too.
K. R.
Fantastic venue and well worth the money. I've only been to one show but I will be going back, they will have you sore from laughing and it's great to see true improvisation
J. S.
I spent an lovely evening here. Its cosy and there isnt much leg room but you canbook certain seats to overcome this. Drinks were not overly expensive. The acts were funny and i laughed the evening away
M. B.
It's a decent room for comedy and, amazingly for the fringe, was cool! The room we were in was over the road from the main venue, and the queuing wasn't very clear- only reason it misses out on 5🌟 …
D. D.
Great venue, good atmosphere, good comics, and a nice drink selection.
M. M.
This is an absolute must visit if you go to Edinburgh! Incredible comedy acts guaranteed to leave you hurting from laughing so much! Been here twice now, look out for the host Rick Molland, who is hilarious
h. i.
This was my first visit to a comedy club, we went on a cold winter night just before Christmas to see an improvised pantomime. Reasonably funny, nice crowd without the rowdiness of drunks. Good night.
M. A.
Another small intimate comedy club. There are two venues here so be careful as one of them is downstairs in the basement. So if you are going to fringe then beware that monkey barrell 2 has no disabled entrance so bare that in mind.
C. C.
Great acts, lively atmosphere and welcoming crowd
T. B.
Friendly staff, well stocked bar with a modern decor throughout the establishment.
I thoroughly enjoyed the gig it had an intimate feel, despite the location having much more space than the other local alternative.
W. F. W.
Had a great time here, hadn't really heard of this place but now I have I will definitely be back!
J. T.
I have been in this place couple of times and always enjoyed myself. I would recommend this place to everybody who loves comedy and wants to have a good laugh. Spontaneous Potter tonight was absolutely awesome.
O. H.
Yes ! Beer, laughs, nice people wall to wall. Top night. Get it booked. Now
C. F.
Went for a friend's birthday, had a great time the comedians and the MC were all quality, the venue is quite cosy but that's what you want at a comedy venue!
S.
Great little venue, drinks were reasonable, staff were friendly and polite. The stand up show was a good laugh (as you would hope) Overall a great evening
A. F.
Was an amazing night out, wish the set lasted longer. Was my first time there and will defo go back
S. B.
Visited during the fringe Festival, great stand up comedy show, funny acts, great atmosphere, good fun all round
L. H.
Went to Monkey Barrell when visiting Edinburgh was a brilliant night with great acts, would definitely recommend! The Irish host was hilarious too!!
E. M.
Organized and clean environment. well set up. Gigs of variable quality but guaranteed fun and certainly recommend as a nice way to ease into Edinburgh.
D. A.
Shows were good fun, staff very friendly. We took the package including food, unfortunately the food was pretty horrible (fries were almost uncooked, hotdogs rubbery) and we we seated in the basemant as only group, very much improvised.
K. H.
Amazing experience thanks for the fun loved the host Rick !
I. W.
Had a brilliant night a small venue providing a great atmosphere brilliant compare and set of comedians great laugh. Got very warm inside could of done with a little ventilation might not be the case on colder night's
G. M.
Great fun and great comics
e.
Always a good time at Monkey Barrel. A great rotation of top quality comedians.
S. R.
A great comedy club with amazing prices. I've seen both stand up and improv shows here and they are both great evenings out. I recommend this place to all my friends!
M. M.
Cracking club, great atmosphere, varied and very funny bill, and well priced too!
C. B.
Excellent! Great acts and a brilliant location. Highly recommended
S.
Amazing night of live comedy, in keeping with all the Covid safety rules. Highly recommend!
D. C.
Compare was the best part of the show. Guest comediens were good, don't get me wrong. But like the famous Big Lebowski quote he really tied the room together. 😉 …
C. M.
Great system for payment. Pay to guarantee a seat for your chosen Fringe show or hang about to see if there is any seats left and get in free then pop your change in the bucket at the end of your can!
K. M.
My favourite comedy club!
K. G.
Great venue for comedy almost every day of the week
s. B.
Nice place, good way to spend an evening and really good talent

Quality new comedy venue in the centre of Edinburgh. Both regular resident shows and visiting comics/Revue lineups. Decent bar too.
F. A.
Fabulous place! Always used to go to watch Spontaneous Potter. Such a lovely atmosphere with wonderful acts.
L. B.
Really good night. 5 quid each and drinks were reasonable. Comedy was good, the host was hilarious. Would come back.

A great little venue. All the comedians were brilliant. We'll worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh.
S. H.
Fantastic venue for a comedy event 5 stars the host was brilliant and all the acts were top class also great selection of drink from the bar 👏 …
M. M.
Went for their Saturday show and was not disappointed. Hilarious!! Staff is friendly, great bar, could not have asked for anything more.
K. F.
Great fun and very Covid secure! Host is hilarious and so were the variety of acts! Thank you!
B. L.
Saw Ahir Shah's fringe show which was hilarious. Venue 4 is a little hot when full but for a hour, it's fine. I also like how understanding they were about the baby in the audience.
N. H.
great comedy venue, small, good sound, good layout, and great to see bigger acts using it for their Ed Fringe 2018 run including Nish Kumar, Tony Law, Lou Sanders and more ...
J. J.
A great Fringe venue. I had never been before but I'll be looking out for future events. Bit shoe-horned in, for me added to atmosphere, for my friends...less so.
C. R.
Fantastic evening, great entertainment all acts funny and had the room buzzing with laughter.
Highly recommend a night here.
P. O.
Great venue and performers. The atmosphere and staff were always friendly and relaxed. Reasonably priced bar and shows, would easily recommend.
B. C.
Great value night out and funny acts. Definitely recommend
L. R. M.
Went for the student stand up. Good venue and nicely prices cans.
C. W.
Liam Whitnail was brilliant. Room was hot though. And a few of the audience were unbelievably, but funny haha and peculiar. Highly recommended.
S. A.
An excellent night out. I hadn’t expect the standard to be so high. Great value for money too.
p. n.
Nice shows of stand-up comedies
S. W.
Great staff, safe set up during covid. Enjoyed all 4 acts.
G. T.
Wednesday night is a top night! £3 entry for cool people, free for students. Bar staff are a complete joke however.
R.
Fantastic evening with hilarious comedy, a worth while experience when visiting Edinburgh.
M. W.
Pretty venue, drinks a bit pricy but not the worst you'll find at the fringe
P. W.
Absolutely brill night, good comedians good atmosphere and the compere was very funny. If you're in Edinburgh you must go to this venue
M. W.
A barrel of laughs. The host was hilarious with most of the acts brilliant. We went on the variety night, where they tested out new content. Very cool.
M. W.
Brilliant up and coming comedians here. Thoroughly enjoyed the show and would definitely go back next time I'm in Edinburgh
M. S.
Had an amazing comedy show there!!! Would definitely recommend! Well priced beers and great comedians!
P. B.
We just enjoy humour is easy to understand . My husband always smile and laugh much possibly here
r. h.
Really good prices for the show. Acts were funny and venue was very atmospheric.
J. B.
Compare average, ambiance 👍🏻 accompanying stag do we’re more funny than the majority of the acts
Irish Keith (act) made the night... …
J. L.
Festival venue like they should be. Small, intimate and close to the comedian.
Smashing bar with great choice of drinks and fab staff.
P.
Great comedy club, small and full, need to book, the compare was ace, bar is well stocked, and the place is easy to get to and near plenty of bars and restaurants.
M. B.
Place us hilarious! Best comedy club u have ever been too. Rick the "host" I think was actually the best on the night!
D. R.
Went to see the Spontaneous Players. Absolutely loved it! Monkey Barrel is a great place for some live and intimate comedy shows.
S. C.
Hilarious comedy with great drinks and welcoming staff.
C. D.
Don't go if you don't like having the piss taken out of you mercilessly. Apparently I resemble a white van man. Great acts and excellent drink.
J. C.
Great team wonderful welcome and ervice had angrestnevening with grestbartisit in every well ordered environment . Jillian and melanie liverpool x
N. J.
Absolutely love this place, visit atoeast once every time I am in Edinburgh. A cheap night out for some excellent comedy and a lot of fun !
H. A.
Great atmosphere and good entertainment, good place for students and non-students. Would definitely recommend a visit to one of their shows just for the value for money
T. W.
Booked tickets on the spare of the moment and we weren't disappointed, the compere and the acts were great, staff were friendly, fab little venue would recommend
S. S.
Super organised, well laid out, great comedians! Will come again!
A. P.
Great venue and friendly staff, good comedy gig. Do not dress warmly as it is an intimate setting and heats up quickly
Ø. H. K.
A real nice experience. Went to an intimate show, had a few beers from the great selection of beers. The performers delivered the goods.
A. M.
I was here for a day sitcom writing course with british comedian, Bennett Arron. Great venue for an event such as this. Staff went over and above to be helpful and accommodating.
E. W.
Managed to get very drunk on reletivly cheap stoli vodka.
What a great experience and lots of laughs, your comedians were fab
J. A.
A lot of comedy club seem to follow the same pattern grunge walls (post industrial chic) tiny stage and a squashed in audience. I suppose with it being the fringe they wanted to maximise their audience.
S. S. U.
Great night in money barrel, great comedians great venue!
F. S.
Outstanding show on the 4th May. Tons of laughs and brilliant engagement with the audience. Loved every minute. Highly recommended!
D. D.
Good range of comedians and if you go with an open mind and in a happy frame of mind you will leave happier, some jokes split the audience as they were seen as ott though😁. …
E. J. M.
Great sets, good laughs, definitely worth a visit!
N. C.
Brilliant night, plenty to drink it was a pleasure to hang out here, both me and my partner really enjoyed our experts here and had such a giggle.
L. F.
Brilliant. We attended for spontaneous Potter and had an amazing night. I would attend regularly if I lived locally and have told everyone about this place since being home.
A. W.
Brill atmosphere all comedians was funny would go again
J. H.
A bus driver stormed out leaving his girlfriend and son in the front row. A dwarf mimed sexual acts while standing on a table on stage. The audience attempted to solve a chess problem. I did not see this night coming.
T. “. v. G.
We went to spontaneous Potter, and it was absolutely brilliant!
This is a must do in Edinburgh if you like comedy.
S. W.
Hilarious acts, but their kitchen clearly struggles. All in all, a good experience.
T. P.
Great acts, lots to choose from. And a cozy basement bar. Place to come for new and upcoming comedy talent
K. B.
Great atmosphere. Had best time here during Fringe Festival will definitely return. All good 👍🏻x …
K. M.
Small comedy venue. Barell 1 upstairs And two downstairs. Mb1 is wheelchair accessible with temp ramp. Staff really helpful.
S. R.
Was told it was full, even though we bought tickets online in advance, but once we got seats sorted, the comedy was good.
G. C.
Great venue, seem to have a variety of acts with relatively cheap tickets and good beer on tap.
T. O.
A little cramped but still had a great night with plenty of laughs.
R. H.
Fantastic comedy club, with two rooms some nights. Great acts, great location - and coffee during the day!
P. M.
Best comedy show in a long time. Really great MC knows how to work the crowd and think on his feet.
R. P.
Great night. Basic decor. Cheap entry. Free for students on a Sunday. Plus student priced drinks.
B. W.
Fantastic comedy club with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out for a night of giggles
T. P.
Saa John Hastings here! Brilluant! Laughed until my stomach hurt!!! Basic venue, drinks quite reasonably priced
J. S.
Really great experience, good atmosphere, excellent value for money.
D. M.
Better sit in the back if you don't wanna get picked on by the warm up comedian. The other proper stand-up comedians were really funny.
J. C.
A great venue with a very small stage that brings the audience close to the performer allowing for a more intimate and personal feeling performance.
S. C.
Comedians good above average but the seating arrangements need to be addressed felt like a long hall flight in economy!!
N. I.
Great venue, comedy very entertaining, drinks very expensive though.
G. H.
Great atmosphere and a great variety of acts on show. Wish I could come every week!
L. A.
Nice venue and friendly staff. Comedy show was really good!
D. C.
The comedy was good , didn't enjoy the " craft " beers .
l. g.
We saw Fern Brady and it was awesome! Show was great! Venue was great! I would definitely recommend!
D. D.

J. T.
Love this small venue with charming staff. Had a great comedy nite out over Xmas
