Where do I start... last century. The chilled out underground vibe and banging beats of the Bongo Club have kept me returning since drum n bass was called jungle... the doorman Pete ain't just the gatekeeper, he is the manager, curator and purveyor of fine beats. My name is the The Mighty Gareth, I love drum n bass and I'm a funking raver... go to The Bongo Club Edinburgh coz it will lift you up and chill you out. X

Best night out in Edinburgh. Would recommend Bongos Tuesday to remedy the pointlessness of life. It is the antithesis to Jude Horspoo and Hive (one and the same). The bouncers are very accommodating to special needs people. Drum and bass is my life, and Bongos has filled the dark hole inside of me, and has helped me realise my full and sole purpose in life: to never miss a Bongos DnB Tuesday.

First visit. Good venue, quite cozy. Spent most of the night upstairs. Bars easy to access. Outside area excellent. Bouncers no problem at all. Friendly atmosphere. Had a really fun night!

The new Bongo club in the Cowgate is a great venue with a large room down stairs, a smaller one upstairs and a nice smoking area out the back. It is really well laid out and good place to go for a dance.

The poor Bongo have had a tough few years, ousted from their two previous locations. It retains its spirit though, and has moved up in the world each time. Now in the space known during August as the Underbelly, tucked away beneath Central Library where nobody can easily find it, they continue to be one of the few venues suitable for smaller live music events, as well as hosting a bunch of eccentric club nights. Not the most inspirational space, but the content tends to make up for it. And it's nice to have an outdoor/indoor beer garden that isn't on the street. Careful of the cameras - they're in some unexpected places. Ladies, best not to rearrange yourselves in the toilets...

If you like cheese and chart - go somewhere else. If you like super cheap drink and buying Grey Goose by the bottle - go somewhere else. If you like toilet attendents, VIP tables and plastic people who know nothing about music - go somewhere else. But, if you want to hear true underground, roots music, with friendly staff who are on the same level as yourself, surrounding yourself with people who know a thing or two about music and culture, then the Bongo is place to go. Not too big but not too small. Great soundsystem and a very chilled vibe. One of the last independent venues in town! Support your scene.

A fun place to go. Set back under the bridge over the Cowgate, the club has two floors, plus a spacious outdoor section at the back. Occupying the old vaults under the Edinburgh central library, it's both a testament to, and a beneficiary of, Edinburgh's storied and idiosyncratic city architecture. Particularly fun during the Edinburgh Festival, when it becomes the 'Underbelly' festival venue, complete with comedy venues and extra space.

This place is great, obviously it depends what music you're into, and which night you're at. The first half of the night it's usually dead, so a good time to go if you want to throw some crazy shapes, second half of the night it gets pretty packed.

I had a great nite there but unfortunately my friend got wasted & I would like to thank the 2 female bouncers who looked after her for hours making sure she was safe & hydrated after puking up everywhere. All the Bongos staff are super chilled.
