P. M.Tremendous venue for live music / performances. I've attended several shows here and the acoustics are brilliant. Excellent views of the stage, no matter where you are seated, too. The biggest majority of performances are very reasonably priced, as well. One of the best venues around.

H. Y.Haven't been here for years. Staff were great. My issue is that I bought a ticket for a small venue. It was changed twice. Now have to put up with late comers who are musically illiterate. Aaarrrggghhhhh!!!!

Audience's reaction to the band was terrible it was like looking down on a much of zombies.

S. W.Awesome music venue that is such an institution in Glasgow. It has a fantastic atmosphere and is a nice size for fairly intimate gigs. Location is, of course, amazing, easily accessible and close to plenty of places for a drink or food before the event.

A. T.Magnificent venue. Seating is spacious, the acoustics are stunning, and the staff are chatty, friendly and professional. Highly diverse range of events, and worth trying something different. Beethoven on Thursday and Illusionist on Friday? Yes please!
C. E.Been here for 5 concerts now and every one has been excellent. Seating gig was good, hall not too big so got a good view from all locations. Standing downstairs was a bit problematic for me cause of my height, but the stage is raised which does help. Standing on the balcony offers a great view, especially if near the front and side. Great venue, not what you expect from the outside. Original, uneven floors and fruitmarket signs add to the atmosphere. Will be back again.
C. B.Lovely venue, attended the NYOS concert there. Some of the staff were a little over-zealous re making sure mobile phones were not being used to photograph the event.
D. N.Went there for a conference dinner and ceilidh and the Fruitmarket was so amazingly decorated!! The waiting staff was really professional, and the food was delicious (even the vegan/vegetarian options). Would recommend the venue to anyone, it really is a Glasgow hallmark.

A. B.Went here for massaoke recently and I've been in there before. It's a beautiful venue and I like that you can go on the balcony and see the stage from above. There's a bar upstairs and one downstairs and toilets are the same. Drinks are standard for a venue, 4 to 5 quid for a beer or a spirit and mixer.

D. P.This is a really nice venue. Been here several times for different events. Was at a wedding here recently and it's a really special place to get married, magnificent venue. Also been to concerts, great sound, great atmosphere, although can end up with write a wait at the bar. The venue represents traditional market places from days gone by, very nice vibe and a good size, not too big, not too small. Easy access as it's in the city centre and has a taxi rank just round the corner.

Some Bloke (also staff) was quite nippy in respect of folks getting in to the show area when been to the loo or whatever but I suppose he was doing his job.
I found the venue difficult as I have a disability.
I. G.Beautifully restored old building. Excellent venue for concert. I have been to several choral and orchestral concerts and think the acoustics are really good. The main hall seating has removable seating on a flat untiered floor space. There is balcony with tiered seating facing the main hall. Some parts of of this balcony have a restricted view of the stage, but offer a really good view otherwise. There are two large well stocked bars. Friendly staff throughout the entire hall. I did not check the disabled facilities, but, I sit notice a sign saying the top part of the balcony was unavailable for disabled access, suggesting that the other areas were. I would recommend this venue for the smaller more intimate performances of solo and choral or orchestral performances. It is not the type of place I would see having a major rock band.

J. J.Review of the recital room: This is a large room with very high ceilings and a result great acoustics. The seating was comfortable and it was not overcrowded. I imagine this would be the perfect venue to enjoy all kinds of music not just Jazz as I experienced.

Met at the main door by inviting stewards who explained when the hall would open and showed us to a waiting area.
Once inside to see the BBC Scotland Young Trad award 2019 we chose seats near the front.
A great venue for a great concert with all the contestants given it there all.
Went to the well staff bar at half-time and was served in a timely manner.
The second half was equally good with the Piper bringing the house down.
After a tense judging session the winner was announced an an encore ensured.
Great night out at the City Halls.
j. a. f.Lovely looking venue with great sound. Door/security staff very friendly and helpful. The no photography policy was enforced VERY unevenly so much so that it detracted from the concert. I didn't even attempt to a pic but seing it happen among some in the audience and not others made me think there was possibly a prejudice (for lack of a better word) involved.
M. G.I attended a choir concert in the City Halls. The venue is very suitable for this type of event. Thanks hall was well filled which provided a good atmosphere. The performance was also excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to attend a future performance at this venue.

S. L.Went to Holy Holy show at the old Fruitmarket. Fantastic venue, probably the best medium sized hall in Glasgow. Excellent view from balcony, sound was spot on. Above all the staff at the venue were brilliant, really helpful and considerate of my mobility problems. Overall, a superb night out !

J. R.Atmospheric venue where the frontages of the old fruit merchants surround the auditorium. Modern bar and waiting area in the adjacent City Halls. Civilised WC's. I went to see Kate Tempest here and the venue suited her intimate style. Fairly decent sound quality but it's the atmosphere of the place that I love most.
P. B.What a wonderful venue, it's like going to a gig in a slice of history with all the old fruit sellers stall signs still in place. It has a great atmosphere to it and at times I felt like I was in a street gig. Staff were all extremely friendly. I would highly recommend this venue.

T. M.Large covered halls that used to be the City Halls and Fruitmarket and are now the heart of the Merchant Citys rennaisance with lots of decent restaurants , cafes and bars.

A. C.It's a great venue and this visit was not good as got tickets for Got Vance our seats was the balcony right in the middle at the front.Well I have had a knew knee and there was not alot of room for my legs was crushed a bit and could notstretch so I struggled to sit there.
Foy Vance was good but the lighting was bad and could hardly see him on the stage so was not a good visit.
Apart from that all the staff was so helpful helping me with the lift and telling us where the floor bar was and the toilets..

E. M.We were here at a tea dance, good atmosphere,good band(That Swing Sensation).The only thing that let it down was the floor,not so much that it was concrete but the fact that it wasn't flat it felt like dancing up and down an incline.We did enjoy our afternoon.

R. S.Superb music and performance venue. The City Halls have a recital room that has really good acoustics and in the case of the Halls a delightful ambience. I was there at the contemporary music festival Tectonics 2018. The Old Fruitmarket is a great Victorian space with superb atmosphere for electronics, free jazz and just right up there modern music.
A. M.What a fantastic venue for a wedding amazing size and the history all around the room I would definitely recommend this for a event. Be warned the BBC have first go at it . But loved every minute of it

A variety of rooms available from small function rooms for intimate performances for thirty people to the main concert hall which is used by the full orchestra.
There is also the old fruit market hall, which is a large function hall with stage.

M.This place is one of my favourites in Glasgow. The main entrance is wonderful and slightly grand and it leads into a venue filled with old signage, some beautiful design and great nostalgia. A hidden gem.
P. L.Went to see Frank Turner supported by Will Varley at the Old Fruitmarket. It was a fantastic gig. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I didn't know about Will Varley prior to the gig but having looking up on Spotify I'll be listening to a lot more of him. Great artist and singer. It was my first time seeing Frank Turner and it was great.

J. M.To find the Old Fruitmarket you need to enter the City Halls. The Old Fruitmarket is inside that building. The place itself is a quite spacy hall. Without seats it can hold large parties. There is a bar and a podium and plenty of friendly staff that clears your empty plates off as quick as a flash. The charm of an original old fruitmarket is preserved through a couple of old advertsement boards. Still, a very nice place and ideal for e.g. large weddings or anniversaries in the heart of Glasgow.
