Good fun night out. The acta we saw on Saturday night were not really great. Not funny, not tragic. Just confusing with people not knowing how to react. Miming to the audio of old commercials/adds has been done millions of times before and way more successfully than what we saw on our last visit.

If I could give more stars I would. We celebrated my daughters 16th at RVH and it was a fantastic night. The owners & the staff were just brilliant, the crowd amazing!! this made my daughters birthday much more special.
Thank you again for allowing us to bring her & also showing her what a great community she is going into

Great venue. Had a good time but! Had come to the entrance of the tavern nearly got rugby tackled by a woman bouncer who was busy chatting than doing her job properly than tackling me. 3 of us there same drinks all night but the prices were all different by different bar person. I like to think I go back.

Great venue in a former listed victorian concert hall. Great atmosphere, easy to chat to people, friendly hardworking bar staff. Good selection of drinks. As the venue is very popular sometimes not easy to get in so better to visit early to avoid the queue.

Extremely fun bar and club, with shows and events on various days. Best to check the calendar to see what's on. Crowd is pleasantly mixed. Staff is friendly and the quality of the sound system is good. The only annoying thing is the party smoke they keep pumping in. It might be a better atmosphere to invest in a funkier sound system than blowing tons of smoke continiously through the whole night.

Always a good night out. Mixed crowd, great service, nice music. I like the fact that they have a rather generous outdoor area for London's standards.

I was invited by a friend to support this historical venue for the LGBT community. So we went a big group of 11. Didn't know what to expect but I was happily surprised.
What a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The place has an old charm and a very well stocked bar.
Watched a few acts loved the whole entertainment very different from what I am use to but never the less extremely enjoyable.
Overall a very lovely experience.

What a fantastic, historic and famous gay pub. Fantastic cabaret shows. Wonderful lovey crowd. Really great place to celebrate how far the community has come to support eachother

The shows here in Sunday are some of the best in the world. It is always packed with a great energy from the croud and the shows are truly entertaining. The Queen's sing live and are funny as all hell. If ever in London on a Sunday, it is a must go to. There other nights look fun but I have yet to check it out. Charlie Hyde is a regular here from Drag Race too. I fell in love with him long before drag race by seeing him here!
B. B.
Fantastic night! Great atmosphere and lovely team! Can't wait to go back!

The fact that Royal Vauxhall Tavern has a long and rich history is apparent as you arrive. The quirky rounded building has a very distinctive style that I find quite charming. Having attended a couple of Bar Wotever events on Tuesday nights this has been a lovely experience, with a wide variety of queer performances that shows you the width of queer culture in London. The bar has a fairly standard selection of beer, wine and spirits.
Y. H.
Such a great venue! Friendly and safe atmosphere.
A. K.
Love this place, great atmosphere and an amazing show! One of the best I ever seen in my life ;-) I will definitely come back to Vauxhall tavern in the near future.
A. H.
Saw the Christmas Panto Pricked and it is amazing! Hilarious, talented performers, all the laughs and great venue. Wonderful staff, all social distancing and covid-safe measures followed. Support live theatre and have some holiday joy!
N. M.
Historic Southwest London Queer bar with world class cabaret shows, particularly Bar Woreva on a Tuesday night. The bar is a great place for the local and wider London Queer community
H. D.
An amazing place with a mesmerizing fun show. I like everything they do / very kind bartenders. It's a safe place. Promotions continue and you can get two free cocktails or a private room for an hour. To do this, I registered on 909gay,com created a profile and showed it to the administrator. This is an unforgettable experience after the evening.

Been visiting for 30 years now and it's still an absolute gem of a venue. Great sound system, great entertainment & brilliant staff. Unconditionally recommended.
J. L.
My all time favourite club in London - I've never had a bad night here. An absolute wealth of entertainment, particularly at Duckie
K. C. B.
Lovely staff and bouncers, a very welcoming environment with a fantastic atmosphere! Drink prices very reasonable for Zone 1/2 too.
T. R.
Amazing venue steeped in history. Older crowd until late on a Fri or Sat when it turns into a club night. Open til late on said days, good alt music not usual gay bar music. Drinks a bit pricey but only a fiver in before 10.30 so no prob. Everyone really friendly, vibe is exciting, bar staff amazing. Just go!
m. o.
Went there on a Sunday afternoon for the "Sunday Special" and the show with Drag Queens was absolutely fantastic. Nice crowd and the £6 ticket to get in was absolutely worth it.
A. E.
One of my favourite venues in London. Very inclusive, safe and fun. Also their shows are very entertaining, specially Bar Wotever, it can get very political and educational, very recommended.
A. J.
30 years I've been coming here, 30 years I tell you! From Sunday school with Adrella in the 80's and singing Karaoke with Lily Savage.
Again I was there last Friday having a great bop at Anthems. I love this place. What's not to like?! A gay institution with plenty of room for everyone, thanks to all staff and customers alike.
J. P. M.
An absolute gem of London society and important cornerstone on the city's LGBT+ history. Doing a really good job keeping going given the constraints of Covid. Still fabulous after all these years.
J.
Legendary queer venue in South London. Welcoming vibe and amazing performances. Check out Bar Wotever on a Tuesday.
J.
We had a great time there on Sunday. Really friendly crowd and a fantastic show. I'd been watching Charlie Hides on his youtube videos for several years and finally made it to see him live. It was much better than I expected. We loved all the great sing a longs and audience interaction. he really held the crowd in the palm of his hand. The venue itself is quite special, and the bar staff were great. Will be back again soon.
P. D.
Went on Monday night for bingo. Was a great night so much fun and full of people for a cold Monday. Not sure the name of the bingo caller but they were great fun. Some drink specials also. I would recommend it.
A. S.
So much fun! Great place for a boogie. We went around 10pm on a Thursday eve. It didn't start filling out til 11pm. The beginning of the eve was a bit too cheesy house for me but later on it got better and with less cheese. I forgot the Texan Kween drag's name but she was fabulous and we had fun chats.
A. N.
I love coming here to the Sunday show - ESPECIALLY when Mary Mac is on 😍😍😍😍
L. B.
What an outstanding venue, the staff are totally amazing, so professional and we felt so at home. Will be going again xx
J. W.
Excellent venue for Sunday afternoons/ evenings. Charlie Hyde and Drag with no name put on a fabulous show. My first visit since Adrella and Lily were residents. I won't leave it so long next time. Loved it.
T. D.
Full of variety, amazing staff, friendly punters and great sound. I especially recommend bingo on a Monday night which is bonkers and usually not too busy, Eurofest for a Eurovision BOOGIE (it takes place about four times per year and features live acts), Sunday cabaret with the haggistastic Mary Mac and Frankie Goes to Vauxhall which is a slick new 80s night that has just landed! You will feel like you are part of something special when you visit the RVT.
C. B. (.
Fantastic historic venue. It's a legbt friendly bar/pub that offers a huge amount of entertainment, from bingo, to singers, theatre, drag acts, club nights, dancing. It is generally a great atmosphere and fun.
H. M.
Went here on Friday for the lip sync night and absolutely loved it. The drag queens were so good! The bar staff and door people were really nice. I had one of the best nights out!
G. P.
***JOHN YOUR A LEGEND***.. I arrived in tears as my friends let me down on the night.. he got me a Diet Coke and a taxi and I cannot thank him enough... him and the lady on the door are a real asset to the business. I am lucky To have stumbled across them! Thanks again and I wish you all the best. If I’m ever in the area I would visit.
D. M.
Great night out. Very diverse and supportive of all the lgbt community. Refreshing to see. Staff and cabaret acts worked hard. Security and attention to safety was clearly visible. An historic building that is worth the visit, if you're lgbt or not.
S. S.
My knight Is shining SIA armour, managed to grab a drink and use the loo on a busy Saturday eve thanks Estelle hope to see you soon
C. H.
Brilliant place for a night out! Highly recommend the Bingo Night on a Monday! Great, entertaining evening to help you get over the start of the week.
They also do brilliant themed 'Push The Button' nights on a monthly (end of) basis that are a great laugh with awesome music that everyone loves and quirky gags throughout the tavern (fans, kinder egg toys, giant glasses, hand clapper slappers, etc) With a performance after midnight and a DJ bringing great tunes!
S. H.
Never failed to have a great time here.
Although coming from Manchester paying you get into a pub irks a bit.
Sunday's are just brilliant fun with a great atmosphere.
Try it you'll love it.
E. h.
What a great place. Got super busy very quick but the atmosphere is the best and full of great people. Bar staff and the guys taking the entrance fee where fab. Can't wait to go back again soon!
P. L.
I've been here a few times and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The bar serves Red Strip in cans which I love, plus there is a pretty huge outdoor area for the summer months. Inside can get really busy so prepare to queue for the bar and the cloakroom - but no worse than most clubs. Amy Lame hosts their weekly Saturday night party Ducky which plays good music and features some unusual acts - last time I got covered in glitter by a 6'6 drag queen... An interesting night out.
K. S.
The staff here are wonderful. Had issues with a date of an event. Speaking with Dave he was able to sort the issue out! So helpful and very appreciated ! Thanks a mill
J. H.
Brilliant venue, great door and bar staff. Highly recommended nights are Sunday Social, especially when the Dame is on, Beefmince on 3rd Friday of the month and Anthem Old School night once every 3 to 4 months. Been coming here for over 6 years and it is now where I do most of my socialising.
R. C.
Excellent location to meet old friends for a drink or make new ones. Great special events hosted weekly along with the hilarious Monday night bingo with Timberlina. A listed venue that anyone interested in LGBT history should visit
K. B.
Nice little venue with a great atmosphere. The Bingo Night on a Monday is some light hearted fun. If you pick the drinks on offer then it is also reasonably priced.
M. Š.
The best gay pub/club with mixed crowd, amazing staff and original outstanding performances on the small stage. A proper pub with a mixture of down to earth locals and visitors creating great friendly atmosphere better than SOHO pubs.
A. S.
One of the world's most famous gay bars. It's small but always has some event going on. This is where Freddie Mercury took Princesses Diana (in drag) and where Paul O'Grady became Lilly Savage. If you want a fun night out with a cheerful and friendly mixed crowd of Londoners rather than the tourist traps of Soho you'll love it here.
Nothing beats the atmosphere here.
S. P.
This long standing lgbtq venue is as unique and diverse as its clientele or as much so as the original and one off performances that can be caught there live, and those are "a plenty". The community is wide and serves all. It is truly apart from the main stream and enjoyable. However, If your ambition is to order cocktails and swill prosecco in plush surroundings then this is not the one for you. Loosen up and enjoy!
A. W.
A true icon of our capital's gay scene and a stalwart of LGBT history. If you are visiting London you simply must visit on a weekend. Great varied crowd, world-class music and some of the best drag acts you'll see.
B. M.
Small but friendly venue packed full of events every day of the week. Its an absolute must for anyone in London to give tranny bingo (Big Bingo Night) a go, the most fun you can have on a Monday night!
f. k.
A big congrats to the RVT on the reopening. Having gone in for a few drinks with a friend yesterday can confirm they're taking new health & safety measures v seriously. Congrats to the team at this difficult time
G. s.
It's more about what even you attend than the RVT it's self. It can be a totally different enviroment and crowd depending what night it is. As a venue it's not bad, decent bar team and generally friendly. Upsetting she they run out of dark rum though. Best night that happens here is Butch, Please and in second place probably Wotever world nights
c. k.
Went to see a pop theme night here on a Thursday. The show was really interactive and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Had an amazing time it is a shame that there isn't more places like this to go!
D. R.
You'd think that being Gay in London would mean you have access to a plethora of great Gay clubs and bars!? That's not strictly true. Sure Soho has a good selection of Gay and gay friendly bars but none hold a candle to the Royal Vauxhal Tavern. The grand dame of gay venues nestled in Vauxhal., close to the tube station. I discovered this piece of pure gold quite late in life. Sure, its not state of the art or huge, quite the opposite. Its an old venue that harken back to the days of cabaret and entertainment. It still has so much in terms of entertainment that no other Gay or straight bar in London cones remotely close to. I've spent many a booze fueled, laughter filled night in this wonderful venue. It has the best atmosphere of any gay bar or club I've ever been too. If you're more into bars than clubs then this is for you. Check out Duckie, a special night with excellent djs and crazy acts thrown in for your pleasure. I'll be going to the RVT until the day I die.
N. P.
One of the oldest LGBT bars. Bar Wotever cabaret on Tuesdays is outstanding for quality of the performance and the friendly zippy, unconventional audience. Nice pub but Tuesdays are special
J. P.
A true classic of queer London. An LGBTQ venue since at least the 1950s (some say the 1850s), this cozy variety stage and bar has some of the longest-running and most continually innovative queer nights around, including Duckie and Bar Wotever. Easy to access and friendly crowds.
K. C.
The best place in London I’ve ever been! Great atmosphere, amazing performances, beautiful people! Everything what I needed. Keep going. We need more places like this in London!
A. E.
One of London’s Olden gay bars. Now a queer landmark with nightly shows for all the people. Go to Duckie on a Saturday night for some of the best queer cabaret performance you’ll ever see.
N. S.
Ace joint! Really friendly and fun vibe and nice staff.
P. H.
This place hadn't changed for decades, and hopefully it will stay that way. The performances are always unforgettable, be they avant garde acts or dangerously sharp drag queens, the music is uplifting and the crowd - which includes the grisly, the men-next-door and twinks - is always up for absolutely anything. Put it on your bucket list.
C. R.
I love the RVT. Tuesday nights with Bar Wotever are the best. The drink prices are not as cheap as some places, but I wouldn't say they're extravagant. Most of the bar staff are really nice. It's a lovely place to hang out and whatever's happening on stage (which could be *anything*!) is usually quite entertaining.
Also, it definitely gets bonus points for having gender neutral bathrooms! ;)
M. T.
My spiritual home. One of, if not the oldest gay club/venue in London or the UK (don't quote me on the exact details, but it's definitely something like that)! This quaint, beautiful freestanding monolith on the edge of the Vauxhall gyratory and standing guard to and at the entrance of the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, has been screaming it's siren's call at me for at least 18 years of my 20 living in London. Like the sailors fleeing to be dashed upon the rocks, it is a call I still, cannot ignore.
Looking for an amazing night out, or just need to be surrounded by some lovely, no attitude, accepting gayers and their friends? Then you will be hard pushed to find anywhere in London, the UK or the entire planet that even comes close.
Globally acclaimed and a constant draw for some of the finest entertainment (DJ's, cabaret, bands and singers) talent around. A constant theme being how both privileged the performers feel to be able to say they have done a turn or for the very rare few, a residency at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern.
I never though I would be in love with a building or place, but there you have it. At least one visit (if not a few years of relentlessly attending one of the weekly or monthly nights) should be on everyone's Bucket List Before They Die.
A. S.
Great night our, the RVT does set nights every weeknight, ad also speical one-offs. Whether you like cheap drinks, cabaret, drag or just a good night out its great. Especially reccomend the big bingo show on a monday, hilarious, and a relaxed, mixed crowd
J. C.
Love this small and tiny historical place.
The shows are amazing.
Drinks ok.
Go for having fun and forgot about the fuss that London is making us to do!
K. W.
Have been dancing here for 10 years and last year was lucky enough to be in the Panto! Great venue with diversity at it's very core. Check it out!
S. L.
"Give me your funny and witty, your intelligent and ironic, your soho hating masses who are yearning to breathe freely!"
This is what the RVT should have on its door. It's a place of absolute refuge for normal gay people who couldn't care less about how much your watch cost or where you got your (ridiculous looking) hair cut.
It's a very happy place on the whole. And long may it continue.
A. B.
We are blessed to still have such a safe space in London. It is such a friendly, incredible queer venue and every event they host is amazing.
I. C.
This is can old school venue. Loved it. The kind of places I've been going to since the 70s. Has a great variety of fun parties etc. Worth a visit.
M. T.
Historical LGBT venue with cabaret shows.
Freddie Mercury used to go and once took Lady Diana in disguise.
Open every day with a full programme of events.
Saturday night there's Duckie, amazing show and dance night with legendary presenter Amy Lamé, hosting all sorts of artists who often go on to perform in London theatres. The music is amazing.
The show is at 11pm with breaks to dance. Open until 2am.
Sunday afternoon is another classic RVT slot with performances by the best drag queens: currently Charlie Hides who has recently replaced The Dame Edna Experience. Dance until very late.
Also great is Monday's Gay Bingo with Timberlina, always crowded and a great laugh!
M. W.
Surprisingly small yet vibrant entertainment venue. Great place to go with friends or to meet new people. I love the cosy, almost familial atmosphere.
D. R.
Went to the ABBA evening with my brother and his husband. Had a ball. So many friendly and handsome boys there. Shame I'm hetro ! !!!
R. L.
A true London institution and epicentre of the city's LGBT community. Drag and cabaret has been part of the RVT's line-up since the early 20th century and it still has one of the most diverse and edgy schedules of any venue in London.
N. G.
One of London's iconic gay venues! Monday night bingo is like no bingo you've been to before in your life - you have to go.
E. W. P.
The venue itself is a bit drab, but what an atmosphere!
C. D.
A great lgbt venue. Mixed friendly crowd (mainly guys) and cool offbeat shows on Saturday (duckie) Can get very busy
L. B. R.
If you are looking for a funny and enjoyable tome in London, you won't be disappointed.
C. H.
Had alot of fun. Great entertainment. When they say opera singing on God they aren't joking. Someone will come on stage and break glass.
J. G.
One of my favorite places in London, this historic building is home to some of the quirkiest acts and incredible music. Go to Duckie on a Saturday night and have a blast!
L. G.
Great entertainment friendly staff, they do many different nights of entertainment a favourite with the LGBT community. Love Sunday Social and Anthem nights
M. S.
Royal Vauxhall Tavern is a historical place but you can't miss the modern touch of events and drag shows. I would definetely recommend it to easy going people

M. H.
I recommand Duckie on saturday nights, great music (thanks To Readers' Wives) great cabaret hosted by the greatest Amy Lamé...

Absolutely rammed for Sunday show on a bank holiday. (So not great if you don't like a crowd)
But show and music after were excellent.
T. H.

A. F. L.
Nice bar and friendly workers.. Not the typical place that I always go, but I admit I enjoyed my night. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
M. W.
This place has not changed very much in over 20 years, it has it's charm but in real need of an update, but nice for a local cabaret bar.
C. B.
Good music and resanoble price for drinks.
Staff was friendly and though the place was packed it didn't took too long to get drinks.
A. J.
My 2nd visit in around 20 years. Love the bar, entertainment and locals who always make for a great night out.
C. M.

This used to be a fantastic venue on a sunday when it was the dame edna experience.
Now its charlie hides tv it has gone downhill.
It was a 5 star venue before. Now its barely a 3.
I hope edna comes back
A. D.
Love the RVT, friendly and easy going with lots of great entertainment. On the edge of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens too so perfect in summer.
Y. K.
Staff amazing, fantastic entertainment. Drinks reasonably priced except for the wine being a bit on the pricey side
J. D.
Really warm staff and customers, completely without judgement and gorgeous. It has that classic gay pub vibe but in a funky part of London!
C. B.
We had an absolute blast here! Awesome music, awesome people and non pretentious! One of my favorites.
D. W.
Simply the best local tavern in London. Very friendly team, cheap (for London) prices and outstanding entertainment daily.

A classic. Different night are different events, so the style, atmosphere and clientele do vary, but it's a great venue.
S. T.
All of my best nights out in London feature the RVT. Great acts, great staff, and great crowd.
M. A.
Heard of this place for years went with some friends to see the mighty David Hoyle, was really happy with the venue, and had a great time
M. H.
Best bar in London. Wide variety of great nights. Lovely staff. Friendly punters.
D.
I think there is an 'unwritten' tradition with some of my friends to attend the RVT Panto during the Christmas season; they're generally so bad that they are funny - highly recommend it.
L. O.
Had a great night out here. Nice size venue that wasn't overcrowded and had great music.
J. P.
Fun, exciting and vivid venue. Gets a bit uncomfortable when too crowded. But then again, what doesn't in London?
