Reviews of Band on the Wall
M. W.
Great bar. Freindly and welcoming staff. Ben and Katlin were amazing serving so many customers and keeping the wait at the bar down. We will be back again soon
V. I. M.
Very interesting and great place to go to in Manchester centre . To sit in the bar that has a very good atmosphere with good variety of drinks and friendly staff. If you hungry they serve good food pizzas vegitarians meals and other menus . Also, they play good music and now and then they have good bands and musical events
S. D.
Great venue for a gig, however when we went to attend a Talvin Singh gig the start and end times were totally different to what my ticket stated and then the gig was delayed even further on the day. This is the only time I have experienced such differences in what expected to what occurred in reality.
k. b.
Came here before lockdown.
Such a great venue. Staff are very friendly. Security was excellent. Bit on the pricy side for drinks but it's worth it.
Atmosphere was brilliant.
Cannot wait to come back again
M. L.
Been too a lot of music venues, first time at this one. Enjoyed it, very nice small venue. Helped by The Mysterines putting on a great performance.
M. H.
Great small friendly venue. Used to go on a regular basis 30 years ago, the place has still got the same feel. Good beers and ales, amazing bands at reasonable prices. What's not to like. Came to see Focus, a step back in time, what a night.
K. M.
I had a great time here. They have a bar area and the gig area so if you just wanna enjoy a chill vibe with a gin you can or you can go and enjoy some live music! The gin list is extensive! And very delicious. It's a very clean place with a really relaxed atmosphere. Discovered some really chill music here. Only thing I would say is that some of the staff are a bit standoffish but of you can go I would highly recommend.
C. M.
Fantastic live music venue. Been to see plenty of jazz acts here. Love the decor with the Dizzy Gillespie backlight and carpet. Nice adjoining bar with a good selection of real ale on tap. Apparently the name comes from the old stage for the bands being set high up in an alcove.
E. H.
Great venue superb gig. Focus we're sublime. One of the best concerts I've been to and I've been to many many in 40 years. Great venue for watching bands, close and great sound. If you like a drink there's even a bar at the back of the room. Now the bad news 5.70 for house red. Beer 3.90. I know it's a teaching academy and a charity but come on guys. Tip have a few in the northern quarter before you go.
P. F.
Went to Melenas a Spanish indie band in the smaller room, they were great as was the venue.
Good beer & wine.
H. B.
What can be said? Manchester institution for live music. Good sound and a venue that feels close and intimate.
But also a great bar and mini restaurant. Always friendly music orientated staff. Good selection of beer and spirits.
Food wise, our visit was pizza night. And it was nice to be offered a vegan pizza. My colleague had a goats cheese and chutney pizza while I was good and ordered the vegan option.
The base of the pizza was fantastic. It was properly Home made. I did feel a little short changed with my vegan option. It was tomato, a few tinned chopped olives (that tasted of nothing), too many herbs and a bunch of rocket garnish. If they just offered a tomato garlic bread it would of been better. Come on guys. Ditch the herbs and buy some vegan cheese please.

Absolutely awesome. Refurbished venue. Well worth the trip. The New home of the legendary spiritual twisted wheel club. Full credit to Pete Roberts.
D. B.
First time there for me. Intimate venue, around 300 seats, sound was great, food available on site, plenty of other eateries around the venue also. Went to see Adam Ben Ezra, amazing bass player, perfect venue for an act like his. If you get the chance, go there, highly recommend it. 🎶👍.
D. H.
Funky and cosy performance area in Manchester City centre, where you’ll find new artistes, as well as more established performers, usually quirky and interesting. It’s a popular hangout with students, as well as the older set. You can eat and drink there too.
a. m.
Excellent venue, up close to band. The East Pointers were fantastic, and came into bar after gig to mingle with fans. Pizzas served before gig were first class as well. My first visit and would definitely go again.
F. B.
Splendid, not lost its intimacy with the bands that get up on that stage and show off their craft of entertaining the local folk.
C. Á.
Absolutely loved it. I went for a free jazz concert on Sunday and each band was getting better and better. Fab atmosphere!
P. B.
Fantastic music venue. Nice room, great bar and friendly staff
J. F.
Terrific venue with a wide range of musical styles programmed. Very friendly staff and good drink choice in bar.
S.
Great spot with a wide range of live music on throughout the week. Stage visibility isn't great from the middle or the back, so get a good spot at the front or upstairs if you want to watch your favourite people. The sound, and therefore dancing, is good wherever you are! Drinks are a little pricey.
J. N.
Always a great night at Band On The Wall. Been going for years, and now even better with the second stage!
j. o.
Brilliant venue, great staff, really enjoyable night out
s. s.
Came to see kenny thomas.absolutly brilliant.the venue was very well organised.i will be coming again in the future .
R. H. (.
The band on the wall is one of Manchester's best live music venues.
Start your night with food and drink at the picture house which is part of the same venue (great selection catering for every taste)
We've been here plenty of times and is our favourite music venue.
J. S.
Fantastic band The dohl foundation...check them out.24 Aug 2017 · Johnny Kalsi is Britain's finest exponent of the dhol, the thundering Punjabi double-sided barrel drum. It provides the beat for bhangra, but Kalsi has shown how it can be used in experimental fusion styles through his work with ... watch on u tube
S. H.
The atmosphere was good but not impressed with seating and no tables to put drinks on
a. c.
Fabulous night at OTRMCR. Bar too busy to get my conference free drink tho :(
Nice to see diverse music offer as BOTW element of this festival

Manchester JaZz festival 20th May - 29thMay
S. K.
Performed here not too long ago - definately one of my favourite music spots in Manchester. Everyone is sooo lovely and my family from Bradford and friends loved it here! A nice intimate setting, perfect for soul and jazz vibes. Love love love! ❤️
e.
Great venue for live music. Nice bar lounge area too
M. B.
Great music venue ... Really could do with fans or air con though!
S. G.
There are some amazing classes for babies and toddlers!
S. B.
It's a great little Venue. If you like live music get to this place. It's just round the corner from the train station and the tickets and the beer are cheap.
m. f.
The place was great there was a seperate room with seating and a bar the room where the band plays no seating as you dance all night also had a bar there was like cage where to smoke...Good night, only craig charles apparently went to hospital the 1 time we went to see him :(
B. H.
Decent venue. Went to see Mr. Scruff here. Great night. Smoking area is a bit small. But sure shouldn't be smoking anyway. 😂
B. B.
My sister went I drove wnd picked them back up. They enjoyed themselves.
M. R.
Absolutely great, classic club with such a variety of great acts. Saw Craig Charles there and had a wonderful time
J. W.
Great venue. Great sound. Great band
D. H.
Fantastic day/night we have just had my cousin,s night venue here after she got married on the 29th december to a mr dean preston who works at this place , its absolutely brilliant, live bands/great decor/great staff very well priced ,has all different types of music great food/ i cant say anymore appart form CHECK THIS PLACE OUT big thumbs up ... i will be going back here .check out the website
E. J.
I hadnt been here for about 6 years. nice intimate venue. I'd gone to see a sold out Cuban band who were good but not as good as I'd hoped. lots of people up dancing which is good but in a small space too many elbows and shoulders to negotiate so slowly got shuffled to the back. as it was back in the day good sound desk and in general a nice place
D. P.
Great venue, sound quality is very good and it is easily accessible. Top venue 👍🏽
A. B.
A wonderful intimate venue for people who love music.
A. F.
This place is amazing. Acoustics are great. Staff are charismatic and charming from what I've found. Band choice is always superb and the band is often humble enough to speak to you after the show. No barrier between you and the stage, very communal. The sound visualiser on the side of the building is pretty cool too.
S. H.
Awesome venue, great sound and atmosphere. Brilliant selection of acts.
*and now refurbished and extended!*
T. E.
Intimidate venue and great atmosphere! Eric Roberson and his band were 1st class!
D. T.
Best venue in Manchester. Sad that it has closed temporarily due to the dreaded virus. Always had a good night in here with some incredible bands and acts. Had tickets to see a gig in October but that isn't happening. Hopefully it will reopen in 2021
T. H.
Great iconic venue. Cool, thoughtfully laid out, decently stocked bar and good food. Excellent ticketing system, pleasant staff. Some truly fabulous artists have appeared here in this genuinely intimate venue. Get on the very regularly updated mailing list on line and pick a gig. Parking isn't a huge problem and public transport is also very handy.. A northern quarter gem. Use it.
I. B.
Donny McCaslin described it as an iconic venue. We had a great evening there nice vibe, lovely staff, good prices
S. G.
For smaller bands the venue is great. The floor is large enough and the stage is close so you get a good veiw if you stand in the right place. The drinks are expensive but that's nothing new when seeing live music
A. J.
Really awesome venue - super friendly staff, lots of space so it's not too crowded, and hosts some great gigs. Nice selection of beer to choose from, and the balcony bit above the stage is really cool for a birds-eye view of the performance! Cloakroom was a bit pricey at £2 an item, but that seems to be common with a lot of gig venues nowadays.
K. P.
My first visit was to watch Donny McCaslin. In the bar, there are some excellent prints on a music theme. The staff are really friendly and this is reflected in the customers who are are also a friendly bunch. The music room is downstairs, it's not massive but it's not tiny either. There's a good sized stage which is raised enough for anyone to see. This club is a great example to demonstrate how music brings people together for a common cause.
I. B.
A music venue with a bit of character. Big dance floor in front of the stage. Good views from (small) balcony. Separate bar area where you can hear yourself and a couple of cask ales. What's not to like?
L. E.
Loved this venue. It was perfect for an intimate show. The only problem was the aircon in the main room where the stage was. It was unbelievably hot to the point where we didn't feel we could dance without feeling faint or too hot to stay in the room. I understand there were issues with the aircon though which is why I've given this 4 stars. Overall great, quirky venue
C. W.
Loved the venue. Up close and personal experience. Loved the bar area, although they don't seem to be set up for multiple pizza orders. Quite a wait for ours, but piping hot and freshly made when it did arrive. After the show the bands came out to the merchandising area and signed their cds and albums and were happy to chat and have photos taken. The security guy was very pushy though and kept trying to pressure people into getting out if the place even though there was still a queue for merchandise.
m. p.
Brilliant historical venue with amazing nights and lovely staff! Lost my passport recently and was collected and looked after by staff. 👍👍
Cant thank them enough!
Bouncers are spot on with sorting out any trouble although it's not often found at the venue.
J. M.
I went here for the first time in over 20 years and realised I had forgotten what a great music venue this is. It is quite small and intimate, you really are almost in with the band. Many places of this size are rundown dives, but band on the wall is smart, clean and well maintained, with excellent sound. I will be back
R. W.
Awesome venue - amazing sound system, beautiful building, great acoustics and friendly staff - not to mention outstanding acts!
Just one note: a bottle of corona is £4.20, which is pricey by anyone's standards.
Nonetheless Band on the Wall is a Manchester institution thast really deserves its icon status.
Highly recommended.
C. s.
Brilliant small venue. Would definately go again.
D. D.
What an iconic place The Band On The Wall is and right next door to The Rose & Monkey
m. d. a. h.
I was in the Band on the Wall for the first time last night. I have enjoyed a delightful jazz concert. The room has an awesome sound, it's not too big and the environment was very agreeable. I'm looking forward to go to a next concert, I was looking some of they flayers they have there and there will be really good music this summer.
P. C.
Went to see The Beths who were brilliant. It was a sell out but still not over crowded. Nice venue nice chilled vibe, way to get serve at the bar. And an extra thumbs up for two pint glasses.
M. S.
Great venue with a superb atmosphere, good beer and a great sound.
L. P.
Small and personal music venue with amazing sound. The bar serves food to. An essential part of Manchester's cultural history and identity. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't already done so.
L. C.
Great little venue. Went to see big Dutch rock band De Staat here and it's a fantastic formal setting where the band can mingle with fans and have a drink. Great place
W. C.
Excellent live music venue in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Nice bar and plenty of space for pre-gig drinks. Good selection of beers and spirits and reasonable prices for everything. You can buy tickets on the door for some gigs but worth checking in advance.
J. C.
The location is not too bad to get to, it's on the main road Great Ancoats Street with some parking fairly close by. The bar within the venue is pretty cosy and nice, the prices are ok too. The acoustics were managed well and the bands sounded great. The main reason for my rating is that although the band we went to see were mostly chilled, as in, not so energetic dancing, it was hotter than hell in the room when the main act was on. So hot, to the point where the band had to strip layers off and our group felt like they were going to pass out. It could really do with some air-conditioning. Otherwise nice venue and would go again.
J. R.
A nice small venue. Not the best of acoustic s but a bar you can actually get served at and the staff are friendly. They do have some great bands playing as well.
P. I.
Great music venue ..and great show tonight from 'the east pointers'
P. M.
Walked passed this place hundreds of times and never been in. Now I've been in once I will definitely be in again. Called early Friday night when not too busy. Not a huge selection of beers but what they have is good. Very comfortable seating and a chilled out vibe. A group near us were having the pizzas and looked soo good, will be trying one some day.
F. M.
Great small venue, the acts booked are worth it.
A. C.
Great venue, not too big, fairly intimate, sound quality is one of the best in Manchester when seeing live music just wish they'd put more gigs on to suit my taste.
I. W.
Small but good venue, wish they had better audio and better drink selections!
Reply: I came to see Samory I and the audio was a little distorted and could not hear the artist above the backing track properly. The drink selection was a little bit limited in the way that I did not see the brand names I would of expected and that limited me to a choice of 3 drinks i believe. The lemonade I ordered, which was quite expensive, tasted really really really bad. But I enjoyed my experience overall so I will be back!
L. S.
Had a great night here seeing The Sambroso All Stars present The Buena Vista Social Club. A friendly crowd. Great venue, staff were friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced tickets. Will certainly be back for more.
H. G.
A really small venue, which I really like, some really good music from great bands and the beer is priced reasonably. You can also eat there and have a meal prior to the gig. I will definitely be going back.
S. J.
Lovely venue. Quite intimate but great accoustics which makes for a fab gig. Fantastic bar too with a great selection of nice beers (and loads of gins too if you're into that).
L. “. M.
Not the best jazz set ive seen & not a great atmosphere in the venue for a Friday night. This venue is way more suited to energetic gigs, Brother Ali was epic, keep bringing those unique vibes
P. F.
Fantastic venue. We had a brilliant night. If you fancy going to a close up and intimate gig then I would recommend coming here. We will be going again.
M. R.
Nice intermate live music venue with a nice sound system .
Quantic we're well worth the trip up from Birmingham
R. L.
Excellent venue offering a range of music; to qualify is more about musicianship than gene. However, jazz blues and world music are show cased. It's run as a cooperative and supports educational programmes for adults and children. It includes a cafe with excellent beer. The food range is limited and simple but tasty
A. S.
I really like what they have done with this place. I only went once before it was renovated but the new venue is great for intimate performances. Great layout with pre-show bar and a bar at the back of the venue space, plus an upstairs gallery for people who just want to take it all in from above. Have seen some great concerts here, Julian Cope and Ozric Tentacles, to name a few. Also popular for jazz and blues bands. Great venue!
D. F.
Great venue, one of the best in Manchester. Good sound and always an excellent line-up. Great facilities and selection of drinks, not too expensive (but not really cheap) either. Would recommend checking out if you're visiting the city and need entertainment.
J. M.
Spectacular night out seeing funky live music and Craig Charles was absolutely excellent! Delicious drinks and great atmosphere.
G. P.
Great intimate venue but when packed hard to see stage unless you get there early and people barging past you all the time with pints and other drinks which can prove messy with people jumping about. Don't think drinks should be allowed on main floor. ( JUST GO BAR IF THAT DESPERATE)
L. P.
Top class gig venue. The bar area is cost and clean, great beer and good food until late. The PA system in the main venue is second to none in terms of quality and clarity.
H. K.
Brilliant, brilliant venue in the City Centre. I adore both the Craig Charles Funk and Soul night and Mr Scruff (of course!). Brilliant soundsystem, excellent drinks selection and above all an laid back fun time vibe. A friend of mile calls it the smile factory based on the amazing vibe and all the good nights they have had. I certainly always leave happy!
C. M.
Laid back bar. Great venue for live bands. Will defo be back.
M. M.
Another fab evening of music watching my son and his peers from Shena Simon college, the future is bright. Nice venue with a couple of ales and some tinned craft beers, good value considering you are in Manchester and at a music venue
m. h.
I have spent many nights over a period of 50 years here and could write a diary on how its transformed throughout my own experiences here A first class venue for live music and varied acts. I first entered here in the mid 1970's when Jazz was the main theme in a speakeasy kind of atmosphere. I fell in love with the place in my 20's, small and intimate showing great acts from America and local talent too such memorable names like the Victor Brox band and Kenny Garrett. This venue is well known internationally with a fine history going back to the 1800's. Refurbished and reopened in 2009 and still excels in offering new talent. John Cooper Clarke and even Joy Division cultivated their rise to fame here. Highly recommended for a great night out.
M. L.
I chose Band on the Wall as the venue for my 40th birthday party venue - it was absolutely brilliant and I couldn’t have enjoyed my party anymore!
My huge thanks to Laura Burgess for all of her help and preparation in the run up to the day, I knew she was on top of everything and it took loads of stress away from me.
And a huge thanks to Paul who did an absolutely fantastic job on the sound for the evening and dealt with ad hoc requests between bands, for instance my son to drum, with huge patience and kindness.
Laura working on the night did a great job too as did all of the staff working - thank you.
You were absolutely amazing, all of you, and it was the best decision I ever made to have my party with you - thank you! Michelle x
M. W.
Band on the Wall is a friendly, fantastic venue, hosting an eclectic and exciting range of live music and club nights, plus art and food. The sound and the vibe is always fantastic. The range of drinks are good, I've not eaten there but the menu looks great. BoTW is a Manchester institution and a total gem.
P. R.
Great venue. Tons of space to chill and chat a d a big single floor dance floor. Interactive cried good atmosphere. Drinks a bit pricey but it is Manch. Try the holiday inn for the nearest hotel.
V. R.
Went to a SYML concert (brilliant btw); venue is alright, prices ok, also have food which we didnt get a chance to try (will do next time); bathroom meh but who cares everyone is drunk anyway; overall a pleasant experience.
F. M.
Great venue. Always have a good gig here. Drinks served in their glass bottles - not crappy plastic cups. Good sound. Intimate vibe! Would recommend
S. H.
Great venue specialising in jazz, world, folk and other artists not usually given the space to play in 'mainstream' venues. Their membership scheme is a good way to support their work while also getting you into gigs for free after 21:30, nice!
D. G. W.
Always enjoyed the variety of music and DJS here. Some legends and up coming artists. Great atmosphere.
Staff are a bit slow with service at the bar.
It's that serve 1 at a time and having to find each item and total up via the till that slows it down even further. What happenes to old fashioned friendly efficiant serve 2 at a time sevrice with a smile we used to get in venues They always seem under staffed in the main room when it's packed and it's annoying having to wait 15 to 20 minutes to get served when your trying to have a night out.. if you visit the bar 3 times it can be 45 minutes plus wasted in the evening.
Staff are friendly enough and security always adiquate.
S. B.
Great venue and Mark Guiliana Quartet played a truly brilliant gig!
S. P.
Amazing live music venue, with great sound system, lovely staff and a unique vibe. Ticket prices are very reasonable and it's right on the edge of the Northern Quarter ideal for food and drink.
S. W.
Excellent venue for live bands. The sound dept know what they are doing which is a welcome change to other venues of late.
There is an element of people in there who want to "be seen" there - "peacocking" springs to mind....
They serve food here but didnt endulge.
A.
Only been once, but it was great. Great fit for the gig, completely suited the headline act. Well stocked bar, good service. Nice atmosphere and good music in the bar after the gig.
e. h. T.
Look out for the free jazz nights. Went to one of them and it was excellent! Overall a great venue, stage and sound and beer selection all on point.
M. C.
A great venue, saw Gangstagrass grass supported by Katy Hurt. Good beer, good size Tom at the side for acts to perform, sound was excellent. Had a really good night, well worth a visit.
A. D.
Great place!
M. G.
A nice room to watch a gig. The revamp was tasteful enough, and the graphic equaliser adornment outside is always fun to see. It's good that a historic venue like this is still in business and putting shows on.
A.
Very decent venue to see live shows and concerts. Always something happening there, check out at their website for further information. Small but not too small with great acoustic!!! When in Manchester I would always check out what's on in there!
K. K.
There have been a great number of artists and bands that have performed here throughout Bands history, and that still continues to this day. It also plays host to the Manchester College, and runs many courses to do with all kinds of music and instruments, some led by leading singers and musicians. The building is beautiful in its own right, and has a vast history to it. It houses 2 great spaces, the Venue and the Picture house.
N. J.
I loverly little establishment. A good selection of beers and a dam fine selection of gins. I will be going back soon and the next time I will buy tickets to see the band. This time I did not I just had a beer and a pizza.
E. M.
Use to come here for the Mr. Scruff nights and they were a lot of fun. As a venue it is a good size but still quite intimate. Could do with a couple more bars.
P. A.
Had a fantastic night out at Band on the Wall sweetie the band Incognito and they were great. Had drinks later in the bar while the DJ played and had a great experience overall.
A.
Went to see Pharoahe Monche and it was good gig, though the venue is a lot different to what I'm used to. It's very small and cosy inside, but not quite cramped. It even has an upstairs mezzanine level, although I didn't see how you get up there. The performance area is also separated from a bar area (The Picturehouse Cafe Bar), which I guess is cool if you just want to come in for a drink or something. This bar area is actually pretty nice and spacious, surprisingly so.
Parking in the area is terrible (as can be expected), however the side street right next to the building has about four bays- If you're quick/lucky you can bag a spot, which really helps when it's raining outside- It's not on a bus route, so plan your journey.
Something to note if you haven't been there before is that the entrance isn't actually on the corner, so don't waste time trying to figure out how to get in from there
C. B.
Nice venue! We were stood at ground level towards the back and found it difficult to see anything on stage though. It just didn't seem high enough and the two pillars blocked a lot too.
A. C.
Fabulous live music/club night venue specialising in world music and niche genres. Always a good atmosphere, bar staff/door staff friendly. Never have a bad night here. Check out their events calendar! Regular nights include the Craig Charles Funk n Soul Show, Mr Scruff, Soul:ution etc.
G. H.
Kelly Moran's live set was amazing. Beautifully immersive. Just a shame we had to leave five minutes before the end to catch a train. Would definitely come again! 🤗
S. “. S.
Amazing Jazz nights oif you are in the mood for some music. The ambience is great for a good get together with a couple of friends or just your date!
T. C.
Went here for a gig but got there early to have a drink. Good selection of ales, nice atmosphere, friendly bar staff. Gig was awesome, really close to the stage - top night!
G. T. G.
Amazing venue, great selection of drinks as well as fresh pizzas, all available away from the stage but with speakers allowing you to listen to the live entertainment.
m. c.
Nice venue for a gig and the bar in the front had lovely decor and a nice homey feel. Drinks were quite expensive however it is a really nice venue.
G. W.
Great little place for drinks and decent sized venue for live music. Can’t fault the beer selection either, and a little less pricey than some of the more central venues.
P. P.
BOTW has been one of the top Manchester jazz venues for many years, and still gets some of the most exciting bands. They have a bar and food. They also have regular DJ sets.
M. P.
Lovely venue. Good selection of beers.
Took advantage of their pint and pizza for £9 offer. The pizzas were gorgeous.
t. f.
Great venue! Beer selection is fantastic, reasonably priced and the sound system is always brilliant, would highly recommend!
A. P.
Had a great time at Band on the Wall! Great venue with good visability. Eat before you go though because the food was not really available.
S. K.
Great atmosphere, and a bar to chill in before the gig
T. J.
This is a great venue - as we are older we thought we'd feel out of place in here but not in the slightest which was a nice surprise.
Good drink selection, good layout and Craig Charles was excellent!
B. D.
Great intimate venue, Non profit too
C. A.
Ace venue. Great atmosphere. Good food and drinks service. Close up sensation without the hassle of the bigger venues. Love the place.
W. S.
Great small venue to see love bands, standing only space for gig, nice bar and seating area with interesting at work on walls, friendly staff.
M. K.
First time visiting here for a gig.
Great venue and nice vibe to the place.
I'd definitely go again and can recommend.
p. d. b.
Good venue. Freindly security. Reasonable bar. Sound system.....meh! Ok ish. Saw Iration steppas recently and the sound system was seriously lacking. Same for Coxone...also be warned they have a no exit policy. Once your in your in.
S.
Attended a free jazz event here, bar area is cosy with decorative interior. Great venue to see varied and entertaining music artists.
G. L.
Fantastic gig with Incognito playing. Four of us thoroughly enjoyed the band, the atmosphere and the gin! Loved meeting the band after. Great guys!
S. F.

I'm beginning to really like the new BOTW it isn't as edgy as it used to be but it is safer and the range of bands is good. Good priced bar and food options and an intimate venue to boot.
I.
Great venue for small acts. Nice bar. Saw Park Stickney playing jazz harp. Amazing sound. Highly recommended

Legendary MCR music spot. IIntimate, ndie / volunteer run - decent line ups especially if you're into soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz, world music. Great sound. Decent booze.

Up there with the best venues in Manchester. Great venue with helpful staff. The Craig Charles funk and soul and mr scruff nights are a highlight every month.
R. H.
Great venue, good music, drinks selection varied and not overly priced. Good that there are different areas within the venue.
C. M.
Maybe the brilliant music on offer, tonight it was Nadine Shah, influenced this review but a great place to see live music. Small enough to feel intimate but enough room to breathe 😎
M. Y.
The drinks are too expensive, but a great venue nonetheless.
B. M.
Band on the Wall has undergone a number of changes during it's long and illustrious lifetime. If you search you can find pictures of the old music hall it once was with the band playing literally on a shelf on the wall. Anyway it has always had a reputation for hosting new or less mainstream bands and artists and now has residencies from the fantastic Craig Charles' Funk and Soul night and Manchester's own Mr Scruff's Keep it Unreal night.
S. N.
Good selection of beer and friendly staff. Good venue. BC Camplight tickled them ivories real good tonight. Fair play
L. B.

Whoever the booking agent is for BOTW, I genuinely hope they never retire. Such a wonderful variety of up and coming, homegrown, international and platinum artists. Throw in the intimacy of the venue, bone trembling sound system and cool crowd. Perfection. Long live BOTW!

Indian classical pianist Rekesh Chauhan a delightful player of cultural Ragas and communicated directly and naturally with audience.
