Reviews of O2 Academy Oxford
L. F.
I watched Postmodern Jukebox here last night. A great intimate venue for such a band. Good acoustics and bars that were definitely used to serving crowds.
It really helped that the band were top notch as well. And seeing them perform Creep as an encore in the venue where Radiohead's video was formed. Chills
E.
Saw Lime Cordiale at the O2 Academy 2 venue (upstairs) and was pleasantly surprised by the layout and the sound quality. It was a nice and intimately sized room and it didn't feel like you had to fight to get near the front.
I'm unable to comment on the restroom facilities as I didn't need to use them. The bar is priced quite highly and I've come to expect that at O2 venues so would recommend having a drink or two at an establishment of choice down the road.
The security and staff were all really nice no complaints on that front either. I would definitely see another show there!
R. H.
Love this venue, it is nice and tight and this allows the crowd to express themselves. Toilets can be a little scaggy, but then it is a music venue. The location on Cowley road, to be honest is a pretty good place, with plenty of great places to eat or have a pint before you go in. The staff are smiling, happy and no big beefy bouncers staring down their nose at you.
I saw, New Model Army (again) who were totally ACE - thank you everyone that made my night enjoyable 😊
S. T.
Drinks were a little expensive. NIce to go to a small venue again, cool and intimate gig. Good sound, if not a little heavy on the bass from the drums.
t.
As a venue it's on the small size. Couple of bars and average toilets. But the atmosphere was awesome great bands, great fans and the mosh pit was loads of fun. Staff were really friendly and everyone seemed to have a good night. Only problem is finding somewhere to park.
L. C.
Small and intimate venue with good quality sound system. I brought a ticket to see Roni Size. It's been awhile since I last saw him in 2009 at the closing party for Movement at Bar Rumba, London. I wasn't disappointed, once again an iconic night with some wicked classics from the New Forms album!
A. S.
Alright venue, but very hot and stuffy. If you're prone to fainting or heat sensitivity, or don't like being crammed in among people, avoid coming here. Very low ceilings too.
N. H.
Small & intimate with a high stage for great views. But!! Hot as a fox in a forest fire. And drinks prices to make your wallet wince!!
C. L. L.
Really cool venue and perfect location that does not require having to get into Oxford city centre.
So much choice of really nice places to eat before a show all situated along the street in walking distance from the venue.
N. S.
It's a concert hall so it ticks all of the usual boxes: Sticky floors, walls that last touched a paint brush when Harold Wilson was in power, toilets that smell like a marathon runner's armpits. It is what it is. The concert I saw (Larkin Poe) was great, so that's what I'll remember.
t. a.
Nice and intimate for an O2 venue. Great sound and good sightlines throughout.
S. T.
Even though we were late and Alt j had started, we managed to get served quickly at the bar and enjoyed the music at the back as it was packed. Really good atmosphere, and located in a nice area with bars and restaurants near by.
P. C.
Went to see James Bay a few weeks back with a friend. She isn't tall. James Bay was brilliant but regarding the hall. It is too long stage to rear and has a dropped ceiling for about a third of its length at the rear. The floor is flat and does not rise towards the back. We stood towards the rear - the gig was packed. I'm 5' 10". I had trouble seeing the stage, my friend could not see a thing. She relied on the couple of less than standard definition ceiling mounted 40" TVs. So, tilt the floor and put much larger HD screens at the rear and keep the camera lens well cleaned. More of the audience can enjoy the gig.
A. L.
Amazingly intimate. Highly recommend as a gig venue.
p.
Nice little venue, stage,.sound and lighting are good
G. R.
Great venue, but parking is shocking.
r. m.
Fantastic venue and so enjoyed Fleetwood Bac on Saturday. Whole atmosphere and vibe so good and really friendly staff. We will be back soon.
A. J.
What a fantastic venue! Lovely staff and great vibes for Lime Cordiale. Can’t wait to be back 😉
A. R.
A lot to commend as a live venue. Not too big. Good sound. Plenty of bar capacity, attracts superb acts.
On the downside, bar prices not keen. A bit of a trek to get to.
But not enough downside to detract from a five star rating from me.
O. G.
It's an ok venue to watch music with some nice pubs around. The stage is so small and overhung by the ceiling and if you get a decent band on you can't move from the door to stage as they pack em in tightly
J. S.
Saw "Ride" last night, brilliant as ever. Usual overpriced watery beer in the O2 with staff attempting to fill glasses with beer instead of froth. No alcohol free lager for us drivers downstairs either. Enjoyed the night though.
P. H.
Went to the O2 for Martin Kemp's 80s Disco night. It consisted of a stage, smallish dancefloor and a couple of small bars. Great venue for small events.
J. R. H.
Bouncers were professional. Friendly and fast service from Taylor on the bar. The atmosphere was great and the music was superb. Can't wait to visit again.
M. M.
Great venue. Nice size with good acoustics. Plenty of places to get food after which is a bonus.
b.
Compact venue with a good atmosphere but could do with a bit of a spruce up. Bit tatty in places. Sold out shows are like the tube in rush hour...
Drinks are horridly expensive as to be expected.
Sound was acceptable, although i wasn't in the best spot to judge it really.
Staff were polite and helpful, lots of bars and toilets lessening giant lines and a cloakroom for £2 per item.
I. B.
Great night out stars all around. Loos are an absolute state. I wore shoes that had to be thrown away because they were so ruined. Even a treck in the country mud is better than the floor here. But it is fishies so sacrifices must be made. The queue to get in was horrendous and I nearly froze to death.
L.
Needs air conditioning! And the large speakers at the edge od the stage, should be moved back. Nice staff, good selection of drinks
W. F.
Awesome gig venue, been a few times (each time the second stage) got a decently priced cloakroom (free with O2, £2 otherwise)
J. J.
Jake Bugg was great, sound system is ok, not brilliant but I was horrified at the sheer amount of plastic wasted. I took my plastic glasses back to have my next drink in them and the bar staff threw them away....I was so upset (I try really hard to minimise waste) that I didn't buy the drinks in the end! Not good enough O2
C. B.
Excellent, friendly venue. Very much like the old venues where you can see the band and get close without being crushed by thousands of people. Have seen a few bands here and will keep coming back rather than going to more impersonal venues in London. Slight issue with parking near but venue is amazing. Dead Kennedy's, The Damned and Fun Lovin Criminals were all outstanding here
l. b.
Good small venue but parking is very minimal as it's surrounded by permit requirements. There is parking 5 mins away but it's very limited on space so it's a free for all once you get in.
G. T.
Pretty good but they need to get their Air conditioning services or replaced, or sized properly by an engineer (I'm offering ;) )! #Melting! It was far too hot in the venue.
That said it was otherwise okay. Lots of bar stalls so the queues for imbibement were never too crazy.
We went to see Newton Faulkner at the venue on the right ( there are left and right venues apparently).
R. d.
Not the worst venue I've been too, but I wouldn't praise it either.
C. M.
A bit out of town but not a struggle to get to. Sound was OK, views and booze were better.
G. M.
Just the right size for a gig. Standing only with two bars easily available during gig.
L. S.
A nice place to visit, a bit expensive drinks so you should drink a beer before if you drink more then 1 beer. Floor was a bit shakey, that worried me. For a small concert it's a great place you should visit, enjoy guys and girls!
H. T.
Great venue... Live seeing acts there as its far more personal and raw!
T. G.
We went to see the Fratellies, we were parallel with the mixing desk but the sound was very poor, Mar as a consequence of the low ceiling it may be impossible to get good sound that far back in the room.
Shame :-(
C. D.
Great venue - just about the perfect size with good facilities etc.
S. T.
Peter Hook gig was amazing!
J. D.
Fantastic show, helpful efficient staff. Not enough toilets and a bit ‘spit and sawdust’ style venue..
D. H.
Preferred it when had club nights as The Zodiac but has a good variety of live music
L. D.
Small and.. cozy? Drink prices were horrendous. £15 quid for two pints! It is what you expect from an o2, though.
Oh, and book parking nearby as all roads are monitored and checked by traffic police. There's a small car park across the way, but unless you get there early, you have no chance of finding a space. I spent 30 minutes driving around to find somewhere that wasn't fully booked or a free parking zone.
Enjoy your evening there 😛😁
M. H.
Great venue, Staff, security and everyone else at the venue made it an enjoyable evening.
G. R.
Frustrating venue. On the plus side, they get some great bands on, on the minus, the ceiling is low, the view is uniformly poor unless you are right at the front and the space is always crowded. The two bars to the sides are always open, meaning that keen drinkers are constantly elbowing by with a payloads of dripping plastic Carling's...
Ripe for a refit!
P. H.
Good venue, goldfrapp could have played longer....
P. G.
Cool music venue. Worth being on O2 as you get priority entry and deals on drinks. Good atmosphere.
T. D.
Great venue. Doorman was unnecesarily rude. And the opening time was wrong on the ticket. Otherwise it'd be 5☆
D. G.
Great venue with some good bands does get a bit warm in there when it's full
H. B.
Amazing venue and was amazing seeing Tom Grennan
N. L.
Good choices at bar. Clean loos. Good atmosphere. Visibility difficult when large crowds (TV screens are helpful but need to be bigger) good sound.
L. M.
Great experience and Academy 2 is really great for intimate gigs
I. T.
The venue itself is OK. The big issue with it is the parking. There is the tiniest car park and on a Friday and Saturday night it's a hunt for a side road that doesn't have double yellow lines.
Its a shame I have booked to see another band here before I went last night as I will avoid it in the future.
Shame the venue is alright. Just could do without the stress of finding a space in a busy town.
S. O.
It would be helpful if they would post gig timings online like many other venues do.
J. L.
Good local venue, shame about the beer choice. Attracts some great bands.
S. W.
Great night out at a Don Broco gig - excellent small venue with a great atmosphere; well organised entrance, bars and cloakroom. Will go to see live music here again.
J. B.
Fantastic venue - great acoustics - good views from all angles - parking can be a nightmare due to location as surrounding streets are resident parking only.
H. W.
The choice of music here is diverse and has something for everyone. However the venue itself is a little small and oddly placed to have a truly fantastic experience. The drinks are average venue prices. The toilets are som of the better ones I've been to in clubs/bars etc with basic facilities seeming clean enough.
The major appeal is although it's a tight squeeze for popular gigs, the air con works well meaning you don't overheat like I have in other places!
I. F.
Great venue
P. M.
Good venue, location is very accessible although can take a while to get to if you drive through the busy town. Car park located very close with reasonable rates. Room was very clean, no sticky floors and was a good size for the acts performing there. Toilets were small but kept clean. Bar service was very fast and also polite and talkative. Drinks were what youd expect from a music venue, served in plastic cups, pretty flat and over priced. Would definitely come back.
J. B.
Was just the gig was good. Chronix and the Zinc fence band. Oh and a good atmosphere!
c. b.
£6.55 swiz for a shipyard ale. Sadly lacking in choice of drinks - draught or otherwise - unless you love carlsberg products, who does?! Sound quality upstairs very good though.
G. H.
Small venue made the most of the old snooker club.
Be careful at the bar they tried to charge the wife £11.90 for a pint of lager and a limeade and soda. Bit of a worry when all the prices are done by bar code???
She eventually got a £4.50 refund but they had to get the manager to action it.
H. S.
Beautiful and grimy as usual! I've been coming her for 10 years for gigs and it's always great. Very dark and dingy but often with a fantastic vibe, and a small place to see some amazing bands. My only down point is that I find it hard to see the stage, but being tops 5'4 I'd say that was more my fault than the venue's! If you want an easy squished no frills evening with great music then I would absolutely recommend here.
G. P.
What a fantastic venue.
Needed to prove vaccination status which was good as it made me feel safe.
Really good efficient staff and great venue to watch a band
R. 1.
Can't believe they don't accept cash at the bar anymore
S. S.
Great venue. Excellent acoustics and lighting. Intimate without being crushed. Bar prices are high though and the ladies toilets were flooded when I went but overall a good place to see bands in an intimate setting.
T. G.
Great venue, although parking is difficult
s. s.
Good venue to go see live bands really enjoyed ourselves, been a few times. If your O2 priority you can get cheaper drinks too. Staff were happy and looked like they were having a good time too.
G. A.
Good venue, just has a damp smell about it
K. R.
Great venue both upstairs for smaller bands and down stairs for that full mosh pit fun
D. D.
Great old venue. Drinks are a bit expensive for what they are, ie. not very good, but the sound is good.
c. z.
Good sound (ground floor) drinks usual high price for a venue definitely go again
K.
Small limited beer selection and an awesome night, very intimate not a place inside where you can't see the stage from, loved it!
A. G.
Went to see NinjaSexParty live October 17th 2019, the venue was fine, a bit crowded but I expect that for a sold out show. All the staff I spoke to were lovely, very friendly and helpful. I can't comment on drink prices as I didn't purchase any but I did see signs up for deals on certain drinks so I don't think it's too bad. My only problem might not apply to many but I feel it's worth mentioning. I am registered disabled and I use a stick to walk, I phoned the venue in advance and they were able to provide a reserved seat which I was extremely grateful for, however the reserved seats are towards the back behind the crowd. The venue is standing I understand this, however it's a shame that my overall experience was hindered somewhat because of my limited capability. It would be nice to see a section closer to the stage and not as obstructed, or maybe not as close to the bar as throughout the night I had people pushing past to get drinks who would nearly knock me off my seat.
R. G.
Super venue. Nice and compact but easy to get to bars and toilets. Great sound in there too!
T. H.
Another great night here seeing The Dualers. Easy venue to visit, plenty of great cafes / restaurants around, street parking etc. Good sized venue, several bars (bit slow - strange bar code system means waiting for staff to find the right one to swipe). Good sound & visibility of the stage.... fab atmosphere, down to the band & venue size. Will be back!
B. B.
Good venue. Easy to get to bars.
N. D.
Big of a dog to park close by, but some great bands play here and always some late night eateries a available post gig down the Cowley road
P. A.
Seen several artists play here downstairs venue is long and narrow but with decent acoustics. Upstairs is a smaller more intimate venue. Any drinks are very expensive as is the norm now a days. Tried in enter with my own small bottle of water only to be told I had to throw it into a bin before entering
/. -.
Amazing venue! Been to many a drum and bass night here and the sound system has rarely let the night down.
Sometimes there's quite a wait to be served at the bar which is the only reason I can't give it 5 stars.
K. B.
Great times, great staff, great live music (at last) ..... we will definitely be back .... (especially as I got ID and im 43 😂) makes me feel young again .
r. p.
O2 Oxford is one of my favourite venues. Is a great little place with a fantastic atmosphere. The crowd in Oxford are always up for it.
B. S.
Nice small venue, bit too hot and sticky even on a cold night. Could do with a bit of ventilation!
G. T.
Nice venue but be prepared if you're short to either get there early and punch your way to the front or resign yourself to not seeing anything at all. There are little telly screens which is great because otherwise I'd have seen precisely nothing of the stage. Can I just say for men and tall women reading this, please have a thought when you find your nice little spot in front of short people or kids that you may not notice but you've just completely wrecked any chance that they had of seeing a glimpse of the action. They paid as much as you did, so just be kind and stay behind.
B. G.
Great venue, well organised. Various bars around so never too busy, easy access.
T. B.
Attended a gig here for the first time a few days ago and overall was a good experience. The downstairs gig area is good, with plenty of bars but is quite tight on space. With the control desk being in the centre and a bar on either side, it was quite hard to get a decent position to see the stage, which spoilt the experience somewhat. Drinks prices were also not great with San Miguel being over £6 a pint! The bar also lacks any kind of drinks variety with only 2 whiskys and just your usual draught beer. This is a shame when there are much better and cheaper bars all around the venue. Overall an enjoyable gig let down by the size/shape of the venue and drinks prices.
T. W.
Great sound and view (once you get half way to the front at least). Good place to see up and coming bands in intimate space. BUT very low ceiling and claustrophobic feel - gets very hot and pretty intense. If they opened the space up more it would be 10x better.
S. H.
Great live venue. Not too big and good range of bands. Acoustics and views always good. Front of house staff can be surly. Non-alc options at the bars too expensive. But Oxford needs more venues like this for live music. Toilets in dire need of a refurbishment though, otherwise I’d review it with a higher score.
A. K.
Great acoustics, but gets very hot and stuffy when full. Went to a gig recently, venue was very crowded. Bonus points for clean restrooms. There are two bars on both sides and limited seating area. Parking in the area can be problematic.
G. D.
Cosy venue for artists playing in Oxford city centre, in this case the excellent, inventive and exuberant duo of Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon.
C. P.
Good old fashioned sweaty busting loud gig in cool part of Oxford.
R. S.
Really like this venue. Makes seeing bands a personal experience rather than just morphing into a mass throng. Parking is a bit of a challenge but not impossible. Well worth a visit to see your favourite band if they perform there.
Y. L. (.
It's a great place to go out and enjoy live music with friend. But seems the sounds not really good filter, as well as the drinks are limited, but expensive. Feel not really comfortable to stand all the show longs without drunk. 😂😂
l. w.
This is a great venue but it needs some air flow at the front of the downstairs venue, it gets impossible to breathe and way too hot for comfort. Beer could be better but it's an O2 so you get tuborg, carling. Props for DJ Shadow themed cocktails for DJ Shadow gig, hope they do this for other artists, it was cool / amusing.
T. d.
Great music venue , but over £5 .60 for a pint of lager !!
I. H.
Been here a few times to see bands. Always enjoyed it as it is a small venue so you are up close to the acts. This time to see Gary Numan it was packed and so full it was difficult to get to the toilets or the bar. As a result not such an enjoyable experience. So if the band is likely to sell out I will avoid in the future.
C. G.
I have been here many times over the years, though it's got no character it gets some great bands in and have had epic times in there. One big issue is the air conditioning. It's been awful for so long,. BUT it gives me a good excuse to go over the road and grab an after gig ice cream (conveniently placed)!
c. w.
awesome gig great venue lots of bars fantastic night!
Z. W.
Expensive beer but great concerts
B. H.
I quite literally walked past it, never been inside actually, and google maps wants me to review it? Well OK then - great pavement, quite wide enough to comfortably avoid brushing past the dodgy looking people in this part of Oxford. No outrageously uneven surfaces, looked fairly clean. It was during the day but I'd imagine street lighting would be...adequate. Traffic wasn't too heavy on the road which was straight and quite expectedly led directly to the town centre. In summary, loved it.
D. H.
Great intimate venue! I have now seen Enter Shikari here and POD.
L. J.
Downstairs is a bit too long and narrow for a great gig experience. Smaller gigs upstairs are great, though. Beer is super expensive, in the way it is at all commercial venues like this. I like the little venue history mural downstairs. Viva Zodiac.
z.
Small venue which means wherever you stand you will get a good view. Very hot inside and this is a mild may. Summer would be unbearable. Small bar. Situated on busy cowley road with good pubs-brewdog etc and lots of eating places
J. H.
Great little live music venue.
D. P.
Foo Fighters UK were amazing, as tribute bands go, and the support act were extremely good too, even though I couldn't catch their name.
It was the perfect birthday treat for me and my adult children.
V. V.
The line up is fairly decent for a town the size of Oxford. A lot big bands, djs and other performers do nights here.
The queues here are awful. Always long queues on entry (i think it got better recently tho, but its up to the night that's happening) getting your stuff into the cloak room is next to impossible and the front bar is impossible to reach. One of the big complaints I have about the place is the sound system. I've been to gigs where it was working fine (as in it still sounded awful) for the first half of the night but the bass stack just died (90% of the bass just disappeared). Going to gigs that feature bass heavy music is always a hit an miss here. They should invest in a sound system that can handle heavy bass ans sub bass.
A. G.
Upstairs is good. Downstairs has sound issues which can detract from the gig if you get stuck at the back. Beer is overpriced. They started charging you £1 per ticket to pay cash - outrageous and unjustified, and probably illegal.
A. C.
Venue was good, bar was efficient. Security really let the evening down. Two girls were starting on various people, all security did was tell them to move further back into the crowed when they were clearly ruining other peoples evening.
K. M.
Saw The Dead South performing. Everything was all good for me! Although they didnt seem to have any wheelchair area as some lady was trying to get to the front by just going through the crowd so she could see better. Unfortunately some people were really rude and wouldn't move so she was just left in the middle.
M. C.
The barcodes on our See tickets didn't work so there was a long queue for the box office. Felt terrible for the staff, but they handled it well enough. The gig was great regardless!
A. B.
Lovely place for seeing a gig.
.
M. W.
Some really good acts come here, but the venue is pretty dire. Poor acoustics and low ceilings make for uncomfortable viewing. Absolutely fine if you love the act though.
R. L.
Decent sound. Very expensive alcohol. Staff are friendly and helpful (including security). Some sight line issues if you're at the back of the main room, but they've done their best to address these with the addition of a camera and tv screen.
L. P.
I liked the upstairs room. The main, downstairs room has a weird roof which makes it feel quite claustrophobic. They also don't get a great selection of artists in my opinion, compared to other similar towns.
K. S.
Used to be one of the best gig venues in Oxford, but now rests on its laurels as the only major gig place in Oxford... And they only get half a dozen even respectable-sized gigs a year nowadays. I've seen true legends here in the past, but now it's all tributes to legends, all the time. Makes you wonder if the owners are lazy or just unwilling to do what it takes to get the big names to play here.
A.
Roughly 10-15 walk from the very centre of Oxford to the venue. There's very little parking in the surrounding area, but we'd driven from Birmingham and parked in the Co-op car park for the entire day. Otherwise, it's on a main road with lots of public transport available.
Lots of places to eat and drink nearby pre-gig.
The venue itself is alright. Really liked the TV screens near the back which showed the stage as I'm a short arse and can never see the show anyway. They were useful until the stage lights made it impossible to film the artist (it was too good to be true)
As an O2 venue the drinks prices are as usual, extortionate but oh well.
W. B.
Great little venue for upcoming new stars, the booz is moderately cheap (especially when you are with O2 for your phone) and due to the location theres loads of food options outside if you're peckish. Only slight thing that was frustrating was that the air condition only came on about 4 times while being in there for over 3 hours which in a small black box full of hundreds of people isnt the nicest thing in the world.
T. S.
The venue is fantastic, the staff are friendly, the concerts are great, Wednesday night is good for Brookes students, though there are a few drunk sports teams the atmosphere is fun when it is busy.
K. T.
This is the nearest venue for gig's for me to go too so it's easy to get there and back. I have been here many times and i have loved each and every time i've gone there. The staff are kind, helpful and ever so friendly. The bar staff are kind and friendly as well and after each act you get a free glass of water between you and your group which i think is really good. The merch table's are pretty small, so sadly the band(s) performing don't bring/have all the merch or what type of merch you may want but still it's awesome they have a merch table. The bathroom is clean and tidy but there's only like 2 toilets between the whole venue. So it's a little annoying if it's a packed gig cause you'll miss alot of the show and act. So more toilets would be nice. Also i love after most gigs i've gone to the band(s) have stayed after for a little while for photo's and to sign stuff
B. W.
The venue was good, staff were great. The only thing I would recommend, (as it gets VERY VERY HOT) Is to have staff walk near the front with a tray of water (as it's free anyway) it's very crowded and hard to walk back to the bar
D. E.
Nice place but bit dirty. Good sound system and everything what you need to enjoy time here.
L. R.
Good smaller scale venue with regular big names playing.
N. B.
Live venue. Standing only, good atmosphere, four bars. Sound could have been a little better. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.
M. K.
The folks are friendly who work here, so are the audience ... but the sound system, blimmey. Terrible. The only time I ever heard it sound right was for Gary Numan.
The worst gig I ever went to was also here (purely on sound quality) ... Pendulum & MC Verse in 2007 ... nearly destroyed my hearing.
Don't recommend as a venue unless you have no other option.
B. C.
Some great events held here, loos are WAY better than they used to be, staff are generally friendly and helpful. Downside can be cost of drinks but there's usually deals to be had!
A. K.
always good at the o2. staff are brilliant. never had a bad word to say about them. left early on this occasion. disappointed with the act. just not my thing but I'll be back soon with family and friends. well worth checking out.
M. A.
Awesome night thanks
W. D.
Mostly every efficient. Probably the best place for a night out in Oxford. Overall good place. It's quite big so it's not as hard to move about as apposed to some other clubs in Oxford.
A.
I've been here for gigs and club nights, it's a smallish venue with a great athmosphere, the sound is good too! I would give a extra star if the drinks were cheaper!
R. B.
Saw the Buzzcocks here. Beer is too expensive, and they put the barrier a bit too far from the stage, but overall not bad. The sound levels were a bit off, and I couldn't tell if it was due to the acoustics or the settings.
A. P.
Have been here twice. Both times to see Lucy Spraggan.
As an 02 member there wasn't too much information about priority queuing and when we were informed the queue was really short compared to how many people were there.
It was a really hot and they did not put on the air con on until half way through the performance, then turned it off again.
K. B.
Like most 02 venues dirty toilets, dark halls and cheap booze.. Music was very good and sound amazing.. Sometimes you just have to cope 🎧🎧🎼🎼🔊🔊😂😂🎶🎶
M. B.
Great venue. Great bands. Just wish the drinks could be a bit cheaper. Puts people off buying them if they're so expensive.
K. H.
Good venue, great atmosphere
G. M.
Good place for music.easy parking only seems to be let down by poor sound system or set up.
N. H.
Great venue, good sound, loud. Good staff.
J. P.
it was my first time to the o2 academy in oxford .
i went to see Brian Mcfadden and as i was a vip i had to get there before 6pm and waited a bit but not long till i got in the venue where brian was doing a soundcheck , singing a couple of songs and then came off stage to meet the vip's (including me) it was amazing , well set up and prepared.
The show finished at 10:30pm and it was a night to remeber , great service , friendly staff , amazing music by all acts but especially Brian and a small amount of people which made the show feel more personal , it was amazing and a night i will always remember.
i would definately reccomend this venue to any of my friends and family
J. B.
Good sound, beers are expensive but that's always the case in venues.
L. C.
Great atmosphere upstairs as usual with a band you enjoy. Drinks are way expensive, would have had more if they were reasonably priced.
L.
Well organised. Quick to get in and plenty of staff at bars. It was very hot inside but water was readly available. The sound was fantastic.
J. G.
Great place fantastic evening
N. L.
If you r a student go it brilliant Plus oxford is a good night out as well.
J. S.
ok venue... great sound from band... bar staff very slow.... band played for only 45mins!.. far too short. especially as had to wait gor 2 hours before they came on
I. h.
Intimate The Alarm gig excellent entertainment
G. A.
Cloakroom available (although expensive), nice bar, friendly staff, good small venue with two stages upstairs and downstairs, both intimate. Acoustics could be better.
W. T.
It's a bit divey but the door staff a friendly and sound is good. The bar itself seems very disorganized. Takes ages to get served.
T. D.
Went to see my first and third concert here downstairs is large and upstairs is smaller but it's a great place to go in the way of acts.
c. r.
Great little venue with excellent line-ups. Relaxed and intimate if a wee bit sticky in places..!
J. H.
Didnt like it apparently its brilliant up stairs but the show was down stairs not for me
D. W.
Awesome concert venue. Beer is nice and cold but a little expensive. At least ypu can buy a 2 pint glass!
J. B.
Great venue, good PA and as small venue anice personnal feel rather than the larger venues. No parking so have to wait for space at Tesco opposite most of the time.
C. D.
Saw Willie j healy here and two other local support bands was great sound quality, bit pricey on beer but a good night all round. Close to centre of Oxford also.
S. E.
Great venue to see a band. 4 stars as bar is expensive and, although clean, most of the toilets in the ladies had no loo roll.
G. W.
Good venue with decent acts and prices that are expected, if not cheap. A bit more work on the aircon in the ground floor wouldn't go amiss.
A. R.
Easy to get to from the city centre on the No1 bus.
Friendly, helpful staff to greet you on arrival and wish you well on departure.
Two or more bars for refreshments.
S. H.
Very nice place if you want something different. Reminded me of being on holiday. Food was very nice. Order 3 or 4 dishes each depending how hungry you are.
K. D.
Sound excellent, but beer stupidly overpriced.
T. S.
Air-conditioning not so good, £7.40 for a bottle of water and a can of beer. Captive audience hey? Variety of top acts have dropped from 8 years ago.
J. A.
Great little venue, good to be able to get so close to the stage without having to squeeze through crowds of people.
M. K.
It's an amazing place for getting up close with the artists. Hot, sweaty and very loud, brilliant gig.
D. K.
Small but good acoustics
A. S.
Brilliant venue. Stewards were friendly. Bar staff were well trained and efficient. Can highly recommend going here 😁
W. C.
Can be a little chaotic, e-tickets never scan properly but box office always happy to sort out. Get there early as not much room to queue
G. B.
Great night out with a great band The Duelers playing the Ska and Reggae!
m. c.
Good atmosphare to see a gig
B. W.
Absolutely fantastic Dualers concert venue was adequate for purpose had two bars and still had room to dance a little
G. B.
Drinks are mad expensive for not even the quantity.. Replay same songs in the same night..
C. W.
Nice venue but way too loud. So loud it hurt my hearing and I couldn't appreciate the music properly.
S.
Went to see Callow Saints who were fabulous!!! great gig venue and back in December for the damned! Check out Callow Saints on you tube!

D. S.
Great place to see a band

Wonderful intimate little space - very friendly crowd (helped obviously by the fact that it was a Dead Kennedys gig) - loved it - wonderful night...
J. J.
Great venue. Staff were lovely..especially the woman in the box office
C. S.
Good size venue for music where you can get up close to the acts. You have to pay by card at bar so make sure you have it with you
M.
Smaller than other academy's I've been to... its lovely though bar staff, great security team made me feel save.
M. M.
Great venue as you can get so close to the band playing but you have to be out by 10pm
I. L. S.
You can see stars on scene a few metres from you. Gigs with perfect sound... Expensive beer and drinks crowdly place but worth to visit...
J. G.
Awesome atmosphere great place to see bands and groups with a chance to get really up close and personal.
A. S.
Great acoustic and style, has two bars and you can take a seat, but gets sizzling when crowded.
r. s.
Nice space for concerts in Oxford. Small enough to create a good mood but with space for a few hundred.
A. B.
Had an amazing experience watching kanadia, good prices at bar.
K.
Friendly staff, old interior but quite worth the price.
D. L.
Watched the coral, very good venue for live music easy enough to get in and get a drink no long queues. Very good
J.
Amazing how it's 2 floors and they can put the heaviest band up top and downstairs whoever's performing wouldn't even have a clue what's going on upstairs
A. T.
Typical 02, bad beer prices to high. Sound is good though which ever of the rooms you're in.
L. L.
Great small/medium venue. Seen Gary
Numan, Amber Run,
Lower Than Atlantis, Little Comets and Frank Turner.
c. w.

A. G.
The spirit of the Zodiac is alive and well. Perfect for intimate, atmospheric gigs and surrounded by places to get dinner beforehand.

Smaller than its Brixton counterpart. But decent acoustics and plenty of bar staff to keep the beer flowing.

Helpful, friendly staff - was great to have the o2 priority app to get in quicker and complimentary cloakroom which saved £7.50

A. H.
Went for a good boogie. Didn't disappoint. Relaxed atmosphere, really enjoyed it!
C. L.
Good sound and bar prices. Could do with some more drink options though
A. W.
Horribly sticky floor at the front, turned on the air conditioning for all of 30 seconds, cut off the support band a minute into their final song, and couldn't even get the name of the main band right on the sign outside.
L. A.
Great night, just wish the bar staff on the downstairs level weren't so slow
D. G.
