Reviews of Ferry Meadows in Nene Park
H. C.
Regularly go there for walks.
There are Coffee shops and a farm shop.
Plenty of seating if you need to stop on your walk around .
An total blessing to have in our city.
For children there are 3 separate play areas .
Everything within the park us all in keeping with its surroundings.
A total gem of a place

My wife and I made a visit to Ferry Meadows Country Park on Thursday 13th January 2022 to see if we could see the otters that were reported to be near Swallow Bridge off Gunwade lake. Much to our delight we saw 3 otters swimming under swallow bridge and catching fish. The time to șee them is between 12:30 to 2:30pm. What a fantastic opportunity to see such a elusive creature at such close range. PLEASE do not disturb these wonderful animals.

We live ferry meadows and spend a lot of time here. The new park is great but the amount of mud is insane. I think it would’ve been better having wood chip/bark put down rather than turf. It’s currently just a mud bath and very slippery. I don’t mind my kids getting dirty, that’s fine, but it seems like this wasn’t very well thought out for the long term.
J. R.
Nice place for walking or a family day out. I personally go kayaking and SUP quite a bit as it's also really nice for that.
Parking is paid for which is a bit of a shame but it a large carpark and we'll maintained.
The park was clean and tidy and there a lot of routes into nature
A. W.
I needed to get out as I had not been for a cycle ride for a while due to the loss of my mother in December, this place is just what I needed, peaceful and beautiful
N. S.
A great place for a walk, run or bike ride. Play grounds for the children and a small ride on steam train. There are bbq areas to cook your own food or a cafe for a snack and a drink which also has water sports center with pedalos and kayaks.
A. C.
Beautiful place for a wonder, and lots of things to do whilst there. Car park signage was a bit 'iffy' at times, as there is a number of areas marked up as Nene Park... but if you follow road to end then you get there eventually. The car park is one of those that tracks your number place and you pay before you exit.
There is quite a few paths, playparks, a miniture railway, boat rides and outdoor activities area. All of it is not exactly cheap, but all seemed fairly good and reasonably well organised, lots of places to picnic / bbq..!
We intend to visit again when we have more time for additional wondering...! The place has a nice 'feel' to it.
M. J.
Always good for a walk. If you are trying to flee from the busy live of the city, Nene park is great to relax and be in nature.
Your dog will love you for the huge grass fields they can run and play on and the cafe is good for a nice afternoon break.
If you have kids, they recently opened a newly build playground and there are also options to rent boats and explore the lake.
For wildlife enthusiasts you can see foxes, deer, squirrels, plenty of birds and fish.
If you are lucky you can also see horses and cows.
There is a small train going through the park that costs 2 pounds I believe and its a great attraction for kids.
p. s.
Lovely place for a walk ,take a picnic, there is always somewhere nice and quiet , kids love it , loads of field space , take a ball, cricket bat and ball stumps ,soon have a game sorted if you like that or a nice quiet game with the family.
S. H.
Beautiful park, passed it many times, finally decided to actually visit and have a picnic.
Lots of trails and lovely spaces. Loads of benches and tables throughout.
Look forward to returning, we want to try taking a boat out on the lake next time!
s. l.
We love it here as its a nice well kept site right next to the country park which is great for walking our dog, and as i have painful knees were able to use our push scooters as the pathways are tarmac.
The shower blocks are very clean and well maintained but at the moment they are being cleaned between 10-12, so after you have a lay in as your on holiday get up, make up the van for breakfast, have breakfast then go off for a shower which is by then around 10am! And you find they are closed until lunchtime so your stuck killing time before you can go out.
Why they cant do it after 11am after most people have used them is beyond me??
We will be back again as we do love it here, but mist remember to no kay in 😜
A. H.
Sadly I have MS and my walking is very very slow. I have a mobility scooter: Di Blasi R30. It is foldable and super small. It's operating size is not wider than electric wheelchair and maybe fractionally longer.
This is my review from disabled point of view.

ATTRACTION
Lots of interesting stuff and walks to do with plenty for all the family. Also loads of play equipment.
And there are plenty of BBQ stands and facilities to enjoy.
TOILET FACILITIES
Clean and sufficient but was very pleased that the flush button was super easy to press.
PATHS
Although the paths were tarmac'd, they had an adverse camber which made things complicated and interesting.
CAFÉ
Very nice and reasonably priced
STAFF
Didn't really interact with them to can't comment. Polite and efficient in Café.
PARKING
Loads of disabled bays. Plenty of spaces. But parking is at a cost. Vehicle registration identification cameras. Pay before you leave.
TIME SPENT
2 1/2 hours... would be more in summer
SCORE

Lovely place to go for a walk especially if you're a nature lover. Big open spaces and plenty of trails to enjoy. You can spend hours there without seeing the same thing twice
T. S.
Love place to go fot a family walk. If you're planning on walking around the bigger lake, wear boots in wet weather as at the back of the lake the walk way fllods and gets very muddy at times. The smaller lake is fine to walk around in normal footwear.

A great day out for a family walk and a picnic. It can get really really busy but if you get there early enough parking is fine and I would advise you get a coffee before 11 o’clock to avoid a half an hour wait in a queue. There are plenty of parts and they’re all toddler and pushchair friendly and lots of places to picnic away from the crowds. Avoid the pay machines by downloading the app, it’s really simple a d much quicker than waiting to pay or having to touch a payment machine.
There’s loads of wildlife for spots I’d recommend taking some binoculars for the kids and the scooter. Just be careful of teenagers on bikes as they can whizzing past if you’ve got small children keep a look out.
Z. S.
It's an enermous place area with a lot of green space. It's an amazing for picnics or having barbecues and many more. You can go on boats and do camping. There's also parking available and footpaths to walk on.
J. R.
Lovely well kept parkland. Lovely walks and cafe.
C. J. M.
In an excellent location for accessing cycle ways to explore the area. NCR 68 takes you into the Centre of Peterborough.
P. H.
This is a fantastic place for families, dog walkers, cyclists, having a picnic, going for a walk, a quick boat trip, most outdoor things actually. There is a shop here, and a cafe, as well as areas for barbecues and special bins for the ashes created by them. There are lots of birds on the lake, and fish in the lake. The are some specially built play areas for the kids, and loads of woodland trails which are basically nature's play areas
R. G.
What a lovely park and caravan site. Nene Valley Railway stop just outside.
m. w.
Great place for a long or short walk by the lakes or river Nene , you can even see otters and kingfishers if you are lucky , only downside is the parking fees , usual rip off , that used to be free
H. L.
Always a great place to walk the dogs. They really enjoy it and there is a dog agility for them. They are also building a new playground which looks brilliant.
H. R.
Good for walking. No need for wellies if you stick to paths. We parked by the watersports centre. Easy to pay by card before leaving, system uses number plate recognition. Good facilities. Excellent for families.
C. H.
Lovely place to wander around , we took our bikes , lovely routes to nearby villages there also, very pretty areas.
D.
I really liked ferry meadows it is a wonderful park with much to offer it has a good play ground and lots of car parking good strong trees that will last my long years sadly on the day I went it was raining and there for did not stay very long but from talking to many people I can only recommend this place I have heard many good reviews here is a quick story for you one time my mate Dave came here with some food and some bird came and tried to nick it from him so he had to run away from the bird but it kept coming for him and he had to hide in his car then more and more birds came and he had no choice but to leave but here’s the catch the birds followed him and more came at one point he counted more than 76 birds all running after him they were running because there wings were not good yet only some could fly it turns out he had a funny smell that made the birds really like him very much
E. H.
Lovely paths to walk round. Toilets available, plenty of parking and café for refreshments. Various play areas for younger children to enjoy. Dogs allowed but may be better kept on lead in busy areas
E. M.
Ferry Meadows is a great place to go running with its extensive all weather paths and fields.
There are excellent sports events organised here, including by Sublime Racing, which make good use of the area throughout the year.
I look forward to coming back again for more competitions and the nice facilities.
J. K.
Love it here- great for kids, walking, cycling etc. Nice shop where you can get small trinkets, restaurant, play and picnic areas (with pull out portable BBQ holders on the tables) , a farm shop, water sports centre.
T. C.
Always a lovely park to take the family to and very dog friendly as well. There's pretty views wherever you look. There's cafes at either side so no matter which end you walk, you can enjoy a treat at the end, or take a coffee with you on your walk. The animal statues are a nice touch.
A. H.
Fantastic place to go with the whole family for the day.
g. t. d.
With new equipment and developments constantly in progress it's never failed to entertain! Be it a blissful walk with a loved one or an ice cream and park for the kids! Stunning views and scenery! Camera recommended 👌
H. C.
Pleasant afternoon spent walking around the lakes. Nice to see many families enjoying the facilities. Many groups having bbqs and good to see metal bins provided for the safe disposal of hot coals.
Small area that children were enjoying splashing about in the lake. It was fenced off so they couldn't go too deep. People in canoes, on paddle boats and pedal boats.
Only downside was long queue for carpark payment. There is an app to download but if course you don't know that until you get to the front of the 20 minute queue.
E. L.
Ferry Meadows in Nene Park is a fantastic county park. There are lakes, meadows and woodlands to walk around, a couple of playgrounds and cafe options. There are grills and plenty of benches and seating. There is a activities center where you can hire equipment. You can also camp.
N. S.
Fantastic park with lots to see and do for all age groups and capabilities. Loads of walking/cycling routes mainly on flat terrain. Large lake for watersports. Great cafe and separate Kitchen and bar for food and drink. Great large children's play area. Loads of wildlife spotting opportunities. Great place to take dogs with a large field with dog agility area. Lots of car parking at reasonable prices.
S. K.
Lovely place for a walk. Lots to see, especially birdlife.
Popular for families and dog walkers. Look for the carvings around the walks and lakes.
Two cafes.
Car park charge.
Also close to a Nene Valley Railway station.
P. B.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit , great cafe, visitor center, bike hire , water activities on the lake , great restaurant , great walks
N. C.
Pleasant surroundings, lovely place to take a dog for a walk.
T. D.
I visit often, always a peaceful place to be,great for children, good cafe facilities. National cycle way area, good long or short walks. Just a lovely place
S. B.
I've started coming here at the weekend since outdoor restrictions on sports were lifted. I come here to practice SUP on the lake, I find this very relaxing & it recharges me. It's only £12 for 1 hour, it's available for 30 minutes also. You are given a bouancy aid & it's free to use a small locker with a key just big enough to store valuables in. The SUP itself is a solid board so it's a bit heavy & it has 1 small center fin. As it's a solid board it's easy to keep your balance as compared to an inflatable. The paddle is just a small basic paddle but good enough to get you about & have some fun. Expect to get your feet a little wet during launch & docking, wear water shoes or bare feet. There are other sailing boats & pedalos on the lake as well as people fishing. Expect to see some swans & other wild birds on the lake with you.
Afterwards you can relax in the cafe with a coffee & a bite to eat. There is plenty of outdoor seating. They also do vegan food here.
S. K.
One can have a nice day out with family here with play area for kids, boat ride along the lake and nice walk.
P. L.
Lovely place to take a walk in. pathways are flat and so easy to walk around lovely lakes. Food and facilities at both carparks reg cameras for parking changes which is card or cash big open space to fly kites in and a little train (extra) between carparks
M. S.
Had a lovely day with my 2yr old son. The little train there was great 👍although thought was a little bit pricey for the actual distance that it is but my son loved it nevertheless. There are plenty of play parks for variety of age groups. Great for picnics & lovely walks 🚶♀️😀👌
J. D.
The country park is great, but needs better toilet facilities and the car park machine would not accept my coins and then I could not use my card, all of this took some time whilst standing in the rain, maybe there should be a covered area or pay and display would be far easier as I was using my husbands car that day and was not familiar with the number plate so had to go back to the car to recall that 1st, so what was a pleasant experience with my grandson ended up being quite stressful !!
S. B.
Went after several days of rain and some of the paths had some quite deep puddles. There were quite a few people walking and cycling round, some of them not following guidance regarding crossing bridges and passing on paths. Otherwise it's still a lovely place for some fresh air.
J. W.
Beautiful scenic place with so many paths to follow and so much wildlife to see! This is beautifully kept! The restaurant and gift shop are just perfect and make the day a memorable moment.
P. “. W.
Great place to eat, dink and explore. Stop here for boat trip around the lake, miniature railway, toilets and meadows.
J. L.
A beautiful area to visit with or without the family that caters for all needs. Will definitely be visiting again
R. R.
Fabulous place for all the family. Wide open spaces, lakes, walks, boat rides, fishing, 3 playparks, café, train rides, fun runs, cheap parking, toilets and disabled access. Lots of sanitiser points, and covid safety rules implemented. Awesome day out!
m. h.
Loved it, so much to see, loads of walks, lovely cafe, good food, veg and meat shop definitely worth a visit.
G. R.
Lovely walks, can't get lost as its well sign posted
Y. A.
Lovely park, many of picnic areas, lake, boats for hire, ice-cream, benches everywhere and wonderful view wherever you look. There are also toilet facilities etc.
M. F.
Great place to go especially with kids. There play parks a lo Ely little cafe and shop which is focused more towards adults. A miniture railway from the centre down to the bottom lake runs but check timetable for operation times. Fares are reasonable and they can take pushchairs. Some lovely walks and plenty of picnic benches and tables are spread throughout the park. Parking charges apply which can be paid by card.
S. G.
Always love walking here and looking at the scenery and wildlife, mainly a wide variety of waterfowl and other birds, some more rare than others. Had delicious lemon drizzle cake and coffee in the Lakeside Café, where there is a big choice of hot and cold food and drink on the menu.
A. S.
Amazing park with so much to offer.
Shops, cafes, parks and lakes. Perfect for a lovely day out with the family or a bike or run.
V. D.
Lot of space to walk around, few play areas. My son enjoyed, we spent half day there😆
D. S.
This is a fantastic club site and what a location. This is set in the most beautiful area you could ever wish for. You can walk for miles. I’ve never visited such a beautiful well kept site. We used to live in Peterborough about 17 years ago and am amazed how this park has developed. The workforce that keep it this good, must be amongst the best in the country. It is so good we’re actually considering moving back here from Doncaster. It has so much to offer. We’re already booked in for next year. I don’t want to go home.
R. S. (.
Great place to go for a walk and great place for photo opportunities.
A. S.
Lovely country park with miles of walks and lots of wildlife to be seen
K. M.
Great place for a decent walk and great for the kids too with its play areas. Also a new play area should be opening at the end of October 21 which looks good. Mini train rides, sailing and boat rides as well. Cafés and a dinner, although the food prices are high hence the 4 stars. All in all a great family day out or just for a good walk.
B. V.
Great for wildlife spotting. Play areas and acres of space for children's games. Picnic tables. 2 cafés. Miles to cycle or walk.
M. C.
A great place for families, dog-walkers, or anyone who wants some fresh air and some exercise. The park is well kept by the trust & generally the people who use it are respectful of its beauty & also its environmental significance. Lots of bird hides & places to snap wildlife photos if that's your thing, plus there's watersports, public BBQ areas & a quirky little railway that runs from one area of the park to another!
A. J.
Lovely cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, brand new playground for the kids, great walks with plenty to see and do on way.
A. C.
It's a great place to go. Plenty to see. You've got the Nene Valley Railway running through the park (Overton station). There are two places to eat and drink. Plenty of walkways & cycleways to explore. You can take it easy or use your visit to exercise.
K. v. D.
Great place for a walk, nice paths, lovely scenary with lake views and woodlands all in one place. Just be aware cyclists are also allowed, so keep your eyes peeled, especially if you are walking a dog, like we were ☺️
M. W.
Lovely open aspects, although regular dog walks are costly for parking.
A. P.
A great picnic place in the heart of Peterborough. Few food options available inside. Ample space for private fishing or boating. Barbecue friendly. Toilets also available. A good sunny day can be well spend here
a. r.
Perfect for long walks with the dog and family. Has a nice little cafe and parks dotted around, perfect for children. Lovely view of the lake as you walk around. It is well kept and very clean. With a big car park that is cheap to use.
D. K.
Had a beautiful experience!!
We celebrated our little niece bday with a bit of paper decor and some helium balloons. It was lovely to see ppl wish her while they walked by. So pleasant and well maintained.
It's a huge place so eat well before exploring haha 😍🥰
R. F.
What a wonderful place! We spent a lovely sunny day here with our little dog. Perfect for all ages with plenty of parking, walks, trails, picnic benches, barbecues and play areas for the children. There is also a miniature railway, visitor centre and 2 cafés with outdoor seating areas right next to the lakes.
A. J.
lovely place for walks & picnics, some great play areas for the kids, pleanty of space for the dogs to run & swim. & 2 cafes if you want refreshments. even has a little train for a fun ride
M. G.
I think as far as 'walking places' go this has everything you want from a nature reserve. It even has a lake and outside activities. Its a little on the expensive side for food. Car park literally takes 30 mins to queue to then pay to leave. (It used to be via an app so could do it after you've been or in the car no queues!)
L. H.
A fantastic family site, dog friendly. Large enough space given to the motorhome/caravans. Great amenities, very very clean. I will be going back next year. Short walk into the park, steam railway nearby for a trip into Peterborough town centre. Plenty off staff so your not alone or abandoned.
B. G.
Massive place, open playing field and lovely walks around the lake. Plenty of parking which you have to pay for but not too expensive. Nice cafe.
C. B.
Brilliant place to walk, cycle , sail row, or just meet up with friends for a coffee.
K. L.
Had a great time in the boats & on the electric boat trip. The young man in charge of the boat made the trip a delight - lots of interesting info as we cruised, obviously adept at building a rapport with guests.
Grandkids loved the train ride and play areas.
Only thing that upset me was the toilets near the Lakeside were disgusting, obviously not regularly checked (on the day I visited anyway!!)
Easy parking using the app, £5.80 for 4 hrs+ is good value, easily spend all day there.
Could have been 5 Stars if toilets were cleaner.
Would recommend a visit though.
D. F.
We're regular visitors to the park and thoroughly enjoy its diversity and the increased focus on attracting wildlife. You're doing a fantastic job and it's great! However, we visited the lakeside restaurant on 27th Sept at 3.15pm, to eat in. We were told that the restaurant closes at 4.30 and hence the staff wouldn't have time to wash up crockery. They only offered plastic-lined disposable cups, plastic cutlery and what looked like plastic straws etc. - all hard or impossible to recycle. To help the environment we shouldn't really be using these non-recyclable products and this seems to be totally out-of-keeping with the ethos of the park. Because we care about the environment we didn't use the restaurant.
On a different occasion we experienced something similar in the cafe near the information centre, where disposable cups were used on Saturdays, due to it being busy.
For people eating/drinking in, there's surely not much excuse for not using crockery etc. which can be washed. For people eating out, why not encourage them to bring their own cups by charging extra for the disposable ones?
K. R.
Absolutely love this place.... it is great for littlies, older kids, teenagers and adults. Great for dog walking, jogging, cycling, scooting or just pottering. Places to grab a coffee, an ice-cream or a snack plus BBQ and picnicking facilities. Always well maintained and lovely and clean thanks to fab Rangers. Plenty of parking with reasonable charges
P. H.
I must admit I was a little disappointed when I revisited Ferry Meadows. The amenities are great and I have no complaints about those or the overall cleanliness or care or the park. When I used to visit with my young grandchildren we would sit at the cafe and play area and enjoy watching the birds on the water and on the grassy bank at the side of the lake. Now that pleasure has gone. The bushes on the bank have been allowed to grow and takeover, I couldn't even see the lake. I know the water activity centre on the other side is probably more profitable and will take most of the attention but realy think that some attention should be given to the simple pleasure of being able to watch the birds on the water.
L. L.
Lovely playground and walks, cafe a bit expensive if you are a regular visitor. Toilets are clean and the shop has some beautiful things, great for gifts. Only down side is dogs off the lead that are not well trained .generally a pleasant experience although avoid on park run s it is popular.
C. H.
Lovely walks and plenty of wildlife..and caravan park great..wardens very friendly and helpful..definately place to go
H. J.
A large Park with a lake where Sailing boats, and Pedalos can be hired. There are River boat trips available during the Summer months, from near the Visitors Centre.
There's also a couple of play areas for young children, which appear to be quite popular when the weather's dry.
I'm told that Car Parking is pricey though.
H. M.
Great place to visit, carpark is not free even for disabled, but not too expensive compared to other places. Plenty of space even a space for dogs to run. Children's play/climbing areas dotted around the paths, even a few canal boats on one of the lake's.
b. s.
Such a beautiful park with excellent facilities.
We spent nearly 3 hours here, did several of the shorter walks and one of the long walks.
We stopped and ate at one of the cafes. It had beautiful views and prices as you'd expect at such an attraction, there was very good choice.
Everything we came across was very well cared for ages the toilets were clean and pleasant.
I loved how so much of it was accessible to everyone.
The car parking is done via ANPR cameras and you pay before you leave but can do it online up to 48hrs afterwards if you forget for about reason.
Very impressed.
S.
Lovely park and beautiful scenery. Great place for all ages and walking the dog. Cafe a bit overpriced so better to take a picnic or use the bbq areas. Great idea. Only downside we found a lot of rubbish especially plastic down by where the fishermen fish. Disposed some of it and reported it , maybe they need someone going around litter picking especially with all the wonderful wildlife.
Activities on the lake were fun as well
t. b.
Beautiful country park, lovely setting awesome walks, also has toilets and a gift shop, lots of picnic tables dotted about around the lake with stunning views,9.5 out of 10 love it here, caravan and motorhome site right outside the park, also called ferry meadows and a beefeater restaurant on the same road.....
D. R.
Stayed at Caravan and Motorhome site, very Nice Site, great Location. Nice walks around the lakes at Nene park, Pub close by. Will definitely visit again.
T. ?.
Absolutely beautiful place in the centre of nature. Great for children and features boat rides along the river Nene and many fresh blackberries to pick. Home to a variety of wildlife including swans and ducks.
E. P.
We saw 2 otters and a Heron. Also a baby kingfisher near its mum. Loverly to walk round. Loads of fishing
G. B.
Lovely walks, a few parks and nice way to spend a few hours at any time of the year. Could maybe reduce costs for watersports, way to expensive as is the parking on cafes.
S. A.
Nice place, well maintained and looked after, beautiful park, lovely cafe with also a farm shop. The area is quite large so lots walking or cycling required. But benches are distributed throughout to take a break.
It can get very busy at times. There are some unfourtunately lazy People who leave rubbish at the benches.
J. C.
Having used Ferry Meadows for many years, it is good to see the recent improvements being made. New 'adventure' play areas, viewing platforms (wheelchair accessible) and a wooden walkway by the Nene through Bluebell Woods, new bird hides etc, all make it a more pleasant visit. The renovated Lakeside cafe & bar is worth a visit and if you're a dog owner there's even a seperate indoor section for you, with water bowls. People have complained about the increased parking charges but a park this size takes a lot of maintenance.
I. O.
Wonderful! Lovely green space excellent location for running, spending time with family and walks.
A. F.
Very good place for family and dog😍🙂
:. O. t. f. S.
Great place to escape and connect to nature... Clean and easy to get to, I once lost my mobile while walking and kindly, it was dropped off at information office. Many thanks to staff and mindful visitors.
C. B.
Really is as good as country parks get. Large in size and kept clean. Great for kids boats to hire play area and a mini train. Can have a picnic or even a bbq. Parking is easy and at a respectable price best country park so far for me this year. Will be coming back time and time again
G. C. T.
Nice place to walk the dog, open fields and some wooded paths around the lake Cafe on site for a drink. Very good parking , pay by app.
K. F.
Great walk the dogs enjoyed it to
L. B.
Love this place. Visited many times over the years staying in the caravan park and now travelling on the Nene Valley Railway with our grandson. Great play areas and big improvements love the miniature railway
K. B.
Lovely walks. Wheelchair/pushchair friendly walk and train ride too! Dogs enjoyed it just as much as the kids. I also suggest taking a picnic.
B. R.
Overly walk round the lake and enjoyed seeing the pedalo swans and the farm shop. Was disappointed with the cafe at the visitor centre - not much choice and quite a wait. There seemed to beits of people on the staff but at one stage ghe girl.on the till was taking orders to the kitchen, taking money and making the coffees hence the wait. Otherwise a goid visit
H. S.
What a fabulous park. Lots of options for everyone. Great day out on your own or with family. Would highly recommend, and parking charge is reasonable!
L. R.
Well maintained and obviously highly popular country park. Plenty of parking. Miniature railway was running, but the boat trips weren't. Not sure why, but I expect it's to do with Covid. Spent a very pleasant couple of hours.
M. 3.
Pleasant walks, fabulous scenery, miniature trains........surround by ducks, swans and strategicly placed cafes. Great for families on foot and on bikes.
l. b.
Stopped half way between Ashby de la Zouch and Wells next the Sea and so glad I did. Lovely open space. Lovely riversidewalk near bluebells wood. Very well priced parking to walk the dog for 1 hour@ £1.70
B. B.
An absolutely beautiful place full of nature. Brilliant for dog walkers to wildlife photographer's. With a couple places to eat and many places to sit down and take it all in.
R. B.
Absolutely brilliant place to visit . Lots of walks and name park is so geared up for dog lovers it's amazing to see so many dog bins.
L. T.
Lovely place to have a walk, proper footpaths, couple of cafes, couple of play areas, (really good ones), for the kids, hides, lakes, woods, ducks, geese, herons, watersports, and fishing. It's got it all xx
D. M.
We happened to be staying on the weekend of the 40th anniversary- so much going on, great community spirit, all funded through donations. Lovely walk around the water too, especially the little bridge where we tried to train some crows.
N. D.
Fantastic open space for a family walk or a walk alone to admire the wildlife on or off the water , with plenty of lakes and walkways with numerous bridge's Nene valley railway can be found running through where various film/pop videos have been filmed 🎥
r. h. (.
Ferry meadows caravan park lovely place to take the children right next to a country park lots of walks .biking. sailing. fishing bar restaurant overlooking the lake
M.
Lovely place for a walk and much better since you can pay on the app, can get very busy on the weekend but most people don't walk around the lake so you can always find a quiet spot
B. W.
Absolutely lovely park it has a train many play areas for the kids including a mud play water play sands pits climbing frames and much more, picnic area with bbq bring your own fire logs etc for your bbq, enough to do for a hole summers day I travelled 63 miles to visit this place well worth the trip, parking fees on exit at machine
J. A.
Such a beautiful green space. Lovely for walks, or just relaxing.
Not too far from the city centre either!
Next time I'm definitely booking a peddle boat!
S. P.
Lovely country park, suitable for all families and you're dog, charge for parking, but free at Orton mere with a little walk. facilities include a Cafe and free to use toilet facilities and disabled toilet, sailing facilities as well.
K. H.
This is a great site. Ideal for families with small kids. We took our toddler and he loved it especially the enclosed play area. We had fish and chips from the van one night and thought it was really good value for money. Lots of walks and plenty to do and see right on your door step. We will be back!
S. A.
Lovely massive park loads of nice walks and play areas Lovely cafe near shop and a bonus mobility scooters to hire great
G. A.
Beautiful park. Mostly quiet away from the cafes and play areas. Nice for a long walk.
C. P.
Excellent facilities for dog walking open spaces good amenities restaurants and toilets xx Excellent for children play areas xxx

Beautiful place to bring the family and pets plenty to see with gorgeous walks. Play areas for the children and a cafe for food or bring your own food to use in the barbecue area.

A real gem for Peterborough. The park is huge and there’s so much to explore. Really nice for relaxing walks and to take the dogs out too.
J. W.
Amazing place for quiet walks or fun with the whole family. The whole of nene park is massive and so beautifully maintained.
Can’t fault it. A massive asset to Peterborough
n. c.
Great camp site. Wounderful location love it and would recommend a try. Two sides busy or quite you chose. Staff Great.
N. S.
Lovely country park , some very nice walks , small shop where you can pick up duck food for a small donation. A couple of playgrounds for the youngster's to use and miniature train that takes you to the larger boating lake , this is where you will find the main restaurant, always had good food here.
C. S.
Lots of walking, good cycling and loads of wildlife.
D. R.
Loads of wonderful wildlife and peacedul walks, a distraction from the busy town centre
D. A.
Great fun, beautifully walks. Good clean facilities. Lovely, reasonably priced cafes.
R. C.
Terrific place to bring the family, especially little ones. Lovely designated play areas too.
The only criticism are the parking charges. Whilst I understand there are maintenance amongst other issues that must be paid for, surely there must be ways to generate income from this huge site.
R. B.
Lovely park with plenty of walks and there's a couple of play ground for the kids plus a couple of cafés
E. I.
A beautiful open space to walk and enjoy peace as well as a outside activity place both for adults children even infants fantastic place to go
S. A.
Nice big park. Has nice lakes. Very good for a peaceful walk alone or with the right company.
S. P.
This spot at Milton Ferry bridge is a great place to launch kayaks from. The low sloping Bank and shallow water means even novices can get on the river without getting too wet.
S. S.
Great place to visit for all ages wheelchair friendly so suitable for all really duck feeding train rides and a number of play areas bbq areas too so good day out
J. L.
Great place for all the family to enjoy. Water sports, exercise, nature and playgrounds, something for everyone including places to buy refreshments!
E. B.
Fantastic green space for the family to enjoy. Varied areas to explore all in one place - woodland, open grassed fields, riverside paths and a lake with boats, ducks, geese and swans. Plus, a miniature railway which runs alongside the visitor centre (running times variable, mostly during peak times). Children's play areas and BBQ stations for outside dining. The Nene Valley railway also runs through the park. What's not to like? Great day out, we always pack a picnic and then enjoy a treat from the cafe later on. Would highly recommend.
L. G.
Great place to visit for all the family.
A. M.
Great wildlife, easy walking, takeaway open today and flipping cold.
T. R.
Always beautiful, whatever the weather. Gorgeous walks, bike routes, dog areas. Plenty to do. Bbq areas and places to eat. Sailing Club has food and drinks at very reasonable prices. All in all, a good day out for all.
N. G. (.
Great place to visit with family, young kids. Train rides - Big park and lake.
Great for the family day out... ❤️
H. T.
Fab place for long walks & fresh air. Nice cafe too 😄
R. F.
Didn’t get to explore too much but a really big area with a lake and lots of activities. Lots of parking space and very reasonable price for all day parking. Lots of space to meet friend/family, put up a gazebo, have a bbq etc. Nice cafe and loads of activities available. Gets very busy and had to wait quite a bit for food and drinks. The lake activities were closed due to staff shortages related to Covid.
Z. P.
One of the best places in Peterborough for dog walks.
A. C.
Great park, lovely walks, play areas for the kids, plenty of parking.
Toilets very clean when I arrived at 1 but we're a disgrace when I left at 4.
Lots of picnic areas and BBQ stations.
Bike and boat hire available.
I. H.
The most chill park I've been to in a while. Everybody passed the vibe check and parking was cheap as chips. Majority of people was doing BBQs and it was beautiful. The lakes and the sitting area at the restaurant was relaxing. Would come here again. Motorbikes Park for free!
C. D.
Just had a lovely walk with my mum around the boating lake - parking machines take cash and card from the boating lake area
k. p.
My first time here and I loved it! So big, you can lose yourself here and while away the hours. Shame we couldn't spend longer here.
G. C. Y.
Wonderful park to visit with your friends or family, enjoy the play area or have a nice stroll round the lake. You can even have your own BBQ. Visit the local shop. Take a lovely picnic with you. Enjoy the wonderful views on a lovely sunny day. Bliss. Paying for parking can be a hassle though.
S. B.
Great place for cycling, walking, picnics bbqs and a good camp site. Close to the river nene and Peterborough for shopping. Steam trains it has it all. 👍
P. B.
Great to work round kids love all the play area
D. P.
Great place for a family day out especially the wee ones, small railway going round to keep them happy. Fantastic for a good walk on a nice day. Cafe serving lovely food for a much needed rest.
M. L. B.
Really nice place to visit and walk round especially with the kids ,lots of greenery, kids climbing areas,a train and various BBQs dotted about .There is the lakeside and the main cafes if you fancy a snack or drink .
S. M.
Amazing park, the scenery is breathtaking. Loved walking here. Will visit again.
J. R.
Lovely place to visit. You'd never know Peterborough was so close. Gets very busy so if you want peace & quiet go early, late or midweek.
J. S.
Ferry Meadows is a great place for all manner of activities, such as going for a run, walking your dog or taking your kids for a day out.
E. W.
It is an amazing day out for the kids to run around and a lot of things to do like bike riding, playing in the park, kayaking, canoeing, sailing
H. S.
Kids loved it, enough to see one part for a hour or two or plan to stay the day and do everything. The kids loved the water play and sand, we were there on a hot day so it was beautiful and yet not too busy although it was school time.
L. B.
Ferry meadows is always a nice trip out one of the parks has just been upgraded and the staff and rangers are helpful and polite
T. K.
Very nice clean and big park with nice views. For 2 pounds you can have boat ride. Park is clean and well maintained. Parking 3 pounds for 3 hours.
D. H.
Great place to walk and see the wildlife. Nice to see the people who use the park with smiles on their faces.
B. E.
Excellent site, close to lakes and good walks. Previously visited several times, always clean and pleasant
P. C.
Great for short family walks, feeding ducks and swans or little ones enjoying the playgrounds.
M. R.
Beautiful place to go for a day out. Lots of open space to relax or have fun with loved ones. Fun activities such as riding a pedalo available. There a lots of different playgrounds for the children and a place to eat and get ice cream.
It's kept in great condition and no rubbish I left lying around . Highly recommend 🌼
R. T.
Amazing place. The playgrounds are great and the walks are lovely. The kids loved the train ride. There's so much to do we didn't fit it all in. A lovely day out
D. B.
Great place to go for a walk . Lots of space with parks dotted around for kids
S. G.
Vast area. Lots of activities, toy train with tickets
L. S.
Some really nice views, play area for kids and resting places.
T. G.
Fair price for parking, plenty of space to leave your car, easy to use pay machine. Large park with a lake, worth to visit with children.
c. w.
Brilliant afternoon out with family and close family friends but food and drink was a bit on the pricey side if things makes sense as you have a captive market. But on the other side you can bring your own stuff for picnics and bbqs.
G. C.
Very accessible and plenty of parking spaces across the different areas on site. There are a variety of play areas, tables and chairs for picnics or else lovely shaded areas to bring your own chairs and refreshments. There is wonderful bird life and walks and the catering facilities and toilets are more than adequate and are well maintained. Definitely a must for all ages!
D. M.
Stayed at the caravan site. A lovely place for all. Nice walks, good cafe.
D.
Lovely place. Clean and tidy, good parking with ANPR system to pay when leaving. Took a Virgin balloon flight from here...view from above is even better.
A. G.
Good parking easy access for disabled dog friendly visitors centre clean well laid out good coffee shop lots of walks for dogs and for yourself cycle paths as well all pathways tarmacked all in all a very nice day plenty of outside seating spaced around the walks good views of Wildlife and of the water.
P. S.
Great place for walks along the river and Ferry Meadows. Good parking and nice place to picnic
J. J.
Great place for walking and cycling. It just a great shame there isn't separate cycle paths and you have to dodge the pedestrians that walk 6 abreast. Wouldn't recommend trying to cycle on hot weekends or school holidays. The Ferry Meadows cafe does a great bacon butty.
M. H.
We had an awesome day, so much to do.... too much for a day!! Excellent paths for walking, scooting, biking! Lots of play areas, lovely grassy areas for picnics. Great little train ride too!
D. S.
Great place we visit for picnics and walking the dogs. Nice toilet facilities and services. Plenty of ice cream and tea, water bowls for the dogs. The train runs most days and there are plenty of kids parks around so they won't get bored. Bring bats, balls, Frisbees there's lots of room for games. The steam nene valley railway is near too so if you like trains your in for a treat. Parking is reasonably priced and surprisingly easy to use. Enjoy a good day out here. Highly recommended.
N. R.
Lovely gentle walks suitable for all abilities and places to picnic or buy food and drink at cafes. Toilets could be improved upon. Useable but bit smelly.
J. M.
Beautiful natural surroundings with plenty to do or nothing to do/ just relax
Brilliant family venue
R. A. A.
It's a nice walk or a ride in a boat on a sunny day or picnic with family. Open air grounds and walking trek are nice. Some sculpture are there as well. They should make more childern play areas. Eatry closes too soon too.
R. Y.
Lovely place especially for children!
j. m.
As always we had a lovely stay at ferry meadows caravan club site, the site is a credit to the wardens who can be seen daily keep the site up to standard. The site perfectly placed with the country park on one side & Nene Valley steam railway on the other, the railway is a bit of a rip off though as you have to buy a ticket just to go on the platform a bit odd really as this is where the cafe is & the gift shop. The park is lovely it has 2 cafes & 2 lots of public toilets one at each endow the park. The cafe is a bit out the expensive side so if its a family day out I would take a picnic.
j. s.
Great campsite large pitches, all appeared level, plenty of service points around site, staff helpful and pleasant, easy access to country park near by .facilities as you would expect from a caravan and motorhome club site.
J. S.
We camped at the Ferry Meadows camc site - they are always well kept with clean facilities . The Nene park is right next door & had plenty to do to keep us all happy - lovely long walks along the river , imaginative play areas , cafes for a cuppa and a miniature train ride back . Plenty of wildlife to see - beware the naughty, opportunistic, flip flop eating squirrels & don't leave things out for little teeth in your awning if camping 😂 We used to camp here when our children were small & it was a delight to return with grandchildren & to make the most of the wonderful spaces .
M. H.
It's a very very big park with lakes and ponds. There is lots to do for all ages. Great fun nice place to be at
P. J.
Ferry Meadows has plenty of great walks around the lakes and woodlands. You'll also find stations for Nene Railway with steam trains. Plenty of room to walk or cycle plus they have watersports and camping areas.
Ferry Meadows is one of the larger country parks in the area and you can walk through the park and along the rowing lake towards Peterborough Town centre.
L. A.
Nice big fields for dogs and children to play and many parks that have excellent equipment in. There is a nice longer walk and a shorter walk suitable for all ages as there are paths for buggies, bikes, or scooters very pet friendly and lots of wild life and the sailing is great fun too. Amazing views as the sun sets or even rises.
N. N.
Love our local park , it has changed over the years. Nice walk, playgrounds for kids. Water activities.
Car park is paid by number plate recognition.
Would definitely recommend to everyone
M. C.
A park with a bit of everything options for camping, bike rides and water activities. Ideal for family's. Literally the only thing I personally don't like is the parking system it used to be easy now if its a summers day your queuing for 30 mins.
F. K.
Very beautiful... Good for the children to have a run around...
P. N.
Lovely well maintained park with good facilities. Excellent mooring for our narrow boat. Only 24 hours max stay but is beautiful.
J.
Very natural, restful park with lots of wildlife. Has lakes with adjacent park benches to rest and picnic. Sculptures to enjoy. Cafes, shops and play areas. Can become crowded which adds congestion for cyclists, dog walkers, pedestrians and pushchairs. Pick an off peak time to visit.
M. H.
Lots of big open areas, plenty of parking. We'll maintained. Some lovely little play areas for the kids. Good hygiene facilities and rules in place.
P. R.
Lovely site with walks and road free cycling. Lots of activities for children and adults. Cafes in the park including Lakeside Cafe and Bar. Although no alcohol being served when we visited. Great views around the lake to watch the wildlife. Nene Valley Railway close by and Brewers Fayre pub with restaurant half a mile away.
D. S.
Great place to take family and friends, lots to see and do ample parking (charges apply) cafe on site
A. W.
Love this place, so beautiful, amazing walks. This is now our 6th visit and we are far from tired of the views.

S. j.
Lovely ..lovely kids enjoyed the walk .. and play areas
M. D.
Great family day out. Plenty to do, or just go for a nice walk. We had a ride on their scale model steam train - amazing.
D. H.
Nice outdoor area. The main paths can get quite busy when the grass is muddy and the ducks by the mani entrance get overfed but this is a lovely place to go.
Pay per hour car park, good restaurant and cafe and toilet facilities. Pathways and facilities make it wheelchair accessible.
Lots of dags being walked which my little one loves
R. B.
Haven't been in two years. Forgot how vast it is. Everything has grown some much. But always a pleasant walk.
c. g.
Lovely country park to take the dog and kids. Well maintained with decent play parks for children to play in. Lots to do and see. Well worth a visit.
T. D.
Lovely open area to take in some lovely scenery. Have taken my dogs here for walks. Lovely cafes and play areas. Can get very busy during school holidays.
D. H.
Shame people in the shop didn't know if the train was running staff on site at 12oclock should know but had no idea even though train times were available in enclosed notice board....We came from bournemouth so grandson was disappointed everything else was fine xxx
M. P.
Beautiful public place. Nice to see people greeting each other as they walk around and respecting wildlife especially the swans with their signets, not at all intimidated by humans. The sailing and watersports centre adds an element of tranquility.
M. C.
Lovely day out. Lots of space for children to run around in and to have a picnic. Good coffee.
L. C.
Lovely place so much space to wander great for dog super cafe's really enjoyed our time here.
B. V.
Jolly place, also good for camping and spending several days. Give the train a rise too if you can.
C. P.
Has plenty to do play areas and lots of open space to run around. Their is even a hig open field to cater for dogs to run and play (but it is not fenced so be careful)
Lots of parking but it is paid (we paid £5.80 for the day I think that's the most they charge).
Their is a cafe and toilets are dotted around.
Overall beautiful day out.
s. l.
We visited to walk the dogs and just loved it. Loads of good walking options, nice cafe, very clean. Definately recommend and we will be back soon
m.
Perfect for families young or old. Lovely lakes, play area, cycle route and mini railway. Unusually allowes bbq's which is great even some provided for use.
M.
Wonderful place plenty to enjoy great atmosphere.
A. S.
My favorite place in Peterborough, amazing views and great location for walking, cycling and fun
M. M.
What a great location, had a wonderful walk around one of the many paths. Lots of lovely picnic spots.
Well worth the visit.
S. F.
Needs more recreational facilities. Why not make it more of a family adventure park. Why not compete with Wicksteed Park, Kettering?
O. C.
Lovely park. There's a train, several playgounds, boat hire, wood sculptures, and loads of green space.
R. C.
Beautiful place with amazing views and miles of walking paths, benches to sit and admire the nature as well as BBQ areas.
D. K.
Absolutely beautiful. The old stone bridge especially and really sets the area off. A great place for a walk with just yourself, the family/friends or the dog. A nice swim in the river in summer and amazing views for a walk in the winter. How lucky we are to have such natural beauty so close to the city.
H. 5.
Beautiful place for relaxing and enjoy a day with family 👪
C. C.
Lovely place we'll kept friendly staff nice walks easy to catch bus into town can't wait to go back
M. F.
Great country park with the Nene Valley Railway running though it. With lots of play areas and a great water sport area
B. M.
Very large space with areas to play and climb..small train..cafe ..pub etc. Lots to keep you occupied.
R. F.
Great place to walk , cafe good too, plenty of outdoor space 👌
R. H.
Great place to go and just chill, walking looking at the wildlife and just sitting and watching the world go by
K. C.
Where I spent most of my childhood. Way busier these days, but still lots to do here if you like the outdoors. A bit more spoilt for choice where I live now, but still like to visit Nene park if I'm passing, for old times sake.
S. A.
Good park. Variety of activities available
J. Y.
Had everything we needed for a family walk. facilities clean. Lovely place.
L. B.
Lovely play areas. Always clean and well maintained. Friendly staff.
W. B.
I spend a bit of time here last sunday on the boating lake, the boats and the lake was great but to say the lake was basically empty there was a long wait to be given a boat. Also when we had finished they werent there after about 10 minutes we parked it up and left it tied. But overall it was a good experience.
a. b.
Lovely site, the facilities could do with an upgrade, the motorhome waste disposal is the old "lift the grid type", but the site is beautifully green. It's a dog walk heaven - we did 6 kilometres with our 2 in an afternoon. Tesco express 10 min walk away. The Wardens were brilliant. We will definitely be back.
G. T.
Great place to walk the dog , parking good and reasonable options and value. Cafe on site , went during the week , dog loved it not too busy but imagine it's heaving at weekend.
G. Y.
Lovely walk around the park. Nice drink in the lakeside cafe.
S. C.
For a caravan Club site, it was disappointing.
The grass badly needing cutting and pitches needed weeding.
I thought all Club sites were standardized regards amenities.
Strathclyde site, different bands on doors for toilet/showers, which is good, On this site only 5 bands for toilet/showers. Site is good, next to park for cycling/walking.
a. b.
Nothing better than walking or cycling around Ferry Meadows on a Sunday. Thought it was very cool to have a bike station as well. Never seen anything like it.
O. S.
Great place to visit with family or friends. The Cafè also has lovely staff.
J. B.
It's a great place for a brisk walk.
There is a farm shop and a cafe too.
M. H.
My dad Colin Ashfield designed this place for the Peterborough development corporation. Probably turning in his grave seeing it being trashed by humans with no humanity :-(
m. h.
Lovely place to take a long walk on a sunny day. Perfect for families with kids. Very clean plus you have place for bbq.
J. K. M.
It was a nice outdoors place for a family to sit and relax. Bring a blanket and some snacks. If you have a boat, go for a row. The train takes you to Nene Valley. I had a really nice time with my family and friends.
N. A.
Excellent place for a good stroll with nice scenary and fresh air.
D. V.
Nice place to spend time with your family and friendly with your pets (dog or cat or with other little 4 legs ) for a walk around in park.or to spend time in play area and if you a hungry,u can grab a sandwich or anything els from coffe shop nearly.. where prise is little bit expensive inside,so im recommend to not forgot the moneys in a case or a take from home something for the picnic. Becouse if you spend time with kids in nice plase and take for a walk in fresh weather. U start little bit tired and like to sit on a nice wooden sits.and there have a little museum. Recommend the model train trip and kid's playground.
p. s.
Clean, quiet, beautiful park to go walking, running, biking by the river. An amazing view. There's a playground and a good café at the park too.
S. G.
Kept tidy and some nice areas to walk or cycle. A new play area will be finished soon which is suitable for older children
A. D.
Dog walking in a care free environment .
Down side car parking charges
J. G.
Beautiful views, plus some brilliant entertainment watching some people enjoy themselves and they capsize their little paddle boards 😂
A. N.
Lovely place for a walk. Two cafes which service good hot coffee. Falafel wraps look good. Lots of swans nesting so need to be careful to keep dogs on the lead.
L. S.
Great place for a day out, very dog friendly and wheelchair accessible
A. T.
Lovely. Peaceful place to go on a walk with your dogs
J. E.
Good place for water activities, lots of fun. Booking online is an easy experience (can only book 30 minutes slots online) 1hr session can be booked onsite.
Worth a trip to go.
C. M.
Great place for the family and they were so good with our nervous dog.
Shame we couldn't kayak due to the wind - though they sorted a refund and alternative activity promptly.

I wonder if the people of Peterborough know how lucky they are to have this wonderful park! So much to do &see,. Activities, play parks, walks. We visit when visiting family but I wish we lived nearer

Very clean, lovely atmosphere. Well kept and very peaceful
B. M.
Clean and tidy place and plenty of space for people and dogs to walk. Emergency services display was a bonus on the day we went.
N. J.
Hard to think we have a lovely place like this in Peterborough, two cafes, shop, dog walking, children's playground for big and small children, also bbqs stationed there so just take your food and coals xx
P. M.
Very nice place to go. Plenty to do for the kids with various play parks and climbing activities for the older children and a little steam train for the little one to go on with there parents. There are bbq areas across the park so you can have a bbq with friends and family and have a truly enjoyable day out
A. F.
Tree climbing today was fantastic our daughter had a great time! Staff were great with her she loved every minute 😊

Recently visited having not had a proper look around for ages.
There's a lot of space, water birds, calm and beautiful corners. The staff and volunteers have done a wonderful job.

Such a lovely place. You can get away from the crowded areas, just walk a bit further from any car park.
