Not the best place to hire skates, blades blunt and it gives fair experience but it's nothing if you bring your own.
Could do more with surface itself, on Sunday morning it was really worn out, uneven in some places. It is still good fun but i recommend to check deals before goin there as it might turn out as pretty expensive for family of four just to try it out lol. There are issues with premiere parking bare that in mind, ice rink staff cannot help out with this.
Positive fun, i do recommend to try it at least once :)

Great place to ice skate... Would suggest buying own skates as hire ones are very uncomfortable with rubbing or go bigger and wear thick socks... I couldn't get to cafe as in wheelchair but husband and son enjoyed their chips though was awkward to get skates under the style of table they've chosen in there. Disabled toilet door didn't open enough for me to get chair in but with asking for help I managed in the end . Also to pre warn... it's and extra £6 each on top of entry fee for a polar bear/penguin skate mate so did made it an expensive day compared to our quad skating rink but, they enjoyed it their time there so was worth it.

The staff were really friendly. However, I only gave 3 stars as found the skates we hired to be substandard and not really fit for purpose. They didn't close properly! The staff helping on the ice were again very approachable. However, on their phones a bit too much when there were a couple of falls on the ice I witnessed and they didn't!

Pros:
- it's a big ice rink with plenty of seating for non riders
- low price
- you can rent skates - but you don't want to do it
- clean toilet
- vending machines
- cheap parking
Cons:
- skates provided were so uncomfortable I couldn't ride longer than an hour and I was having very thick socks. Also very dirty and blunt. Absolutely awful. Bring your own!
- penguins and polar bears ( support for learners ) are paid extra
- parking ticket machines are located at the entrance, nowhere near the parking. Absolutely ridiculous! It's coin only on top of that.
- lockers are £1 but only those on the left are in use as the other ones are talking old coins only ( December 2021! )
- when booking by website got information that there's only 600 tickets left for that hour. Covid restrictions are nonexistent.
Conclusion:
Bring your own skates, some extra coins and have a great day on ice rink.

Really good fun, went and watched Peterborough phantoms for the first time. Amazing bunch of people there and an amazing atmosphere.
R. F.
Went during the week so was very quiet which was brilliant!
A good-sized rink with good ice.
The staff were very pleasant and didn't mind all of us switching our skated until we found a pair that worked for us. This may not be as acheiveable during busier periods.
There are vending machines available to purchase snacks and drinksand plenty of seating for those who just want to watch.
A great day out, but be prepared to fall over!

A great experience for the family watching the B team was only £5 per person worth every penny
l. j.
Great night as far as match went. The facilities really do need upgrading . I used to watch Pirates back in early 80s and I could barely see any changes from then. It's alot of money you're paying for such dated ,tired looking venue.
The staff were great ,food ok and match great ,so overall was a hit.
W. D.
We visited today and whilst the experience was great there were a few things that could have made the experience awesome. It's probably not a secret to the owners that the place is in desperate need of an update. Not to worry though as the owners have a plan in place by ripping off their customers by charging a whopping £7.50 each to hire a skating aid. This is not refundable either so unless your children have the skating prowess of Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean this will be an additional cost. Also the queues to collect the skates were being managed by only one person when we visited and the same to collect our footwear at the end. Please also be advised that the parking machines and locker hire are not cashless, so make sure you have cash available.
The volunteer staff working on the ice were fabulous and get a 5* review. If the team work hard in updating the venue and looking into their exorbitant hire charges then there's potential for a much higher review in future.

Came here for the skate with santa (with my little one) and it was fantastic! Santa skated around and talked to the kids for over an hour before I left and he was still on the ice. I am not a regular ice skater and so hired skates which were not in the best condition but got me around! I had booked on line and had accidentally only booked one lot of skate hire instead of 2 but the people on reception were super friendly and helpful and just put it through then. Just a final note to REMEMBER TO PAY FOR PARKING. It is only £1 but have known people who got fined because they forgot to pay.
L. W.
Fantastic family day out. Booked online and it was an all day ice skate 11 till 4pm. Arrived at 11am had to pay for parking which we were not aware of but it was only £2 for the day. It took a while to get in and get sorted with skates. We hired a penguin but they also do polar bears for older children and adults, seals for the little ones to sit on and you push them round;(however my teens were allowed a play with these and had great fun, with the helper even pushing them round super fast.) It was busy but not too busy that you didn't have lots of room. We had an amazing day and the worker gave us a polar bear to play with too. We had two 15 year olds, two 13 year plus and a 9 year old with us. Two adults on the ice and two adults watching.
T. P.
Great place with the kids but customer services was pretty poor in particular a fat lady at the kiosk was very slow seems like deliberetely pushing time when queue was massive. Not too willing to help at all. Otherwise the place is great
S. S.
Had a lovely time. Staff on the ice was brilliant. Michael inpaticular got us seals to use for the kids. Also gave them a push round his self. Kids loved going fast. Really nice and friend guy. Would definitely go again.
T. P.
Bought back lots of good memories. But that's was the best part. You now have to pay your £1 for parking which you didn't used to which seems excessive given the price for skating. Disco evening on a Friday is a bit difficult to skate well in if you're not used to it. Can be disorienting. Go on a different day and you'll skate better. Much of it hasn't changed in 20 years. Music was loud but again, disco evening... If I go again, it won't be a Friday!
S. S.
Really cold inside if you're just watching a game! Plenty of seating. Parking round the back- remember to pay for it at the machine near the entrance, it's ANPR so you'll get a fine if not! Plenty of vending machines but wish there was somewhere to get a hot drink when there on an evening as its really chilly at the rink.
Edited to add : yes there is a drinks machine near the entrance for hot drinks but it was out of order when I went.
J. V.
Children loved the experience itself however, facilities are very much dated and customer service not great. I imagined 'skating with santa' would be a bit more than santas appearance for 5mins on ice... for family of 3 (1 adult and 2 kids) costed us £50. It's definitely too dear for what you get!
S. P.
Great morning here. Cafe well well over priced and when paying with card FYI only 1 in 10 card transactions work (dodgy Internet signal is the reason they give )
S. W.
If your going to spectate wear something really warm. Fairly basic building. But good Hockey training programme
s. 6.
Nice place for relax, you need to book and pay online, they don't accept payment there, you can do on the phone with ur mail address to confirm payment, big place ,lot of fun,if ur spectator, get ur self a jacket scarf and hat, it very cold inside ,love that place, staff are very helpful and friendly, thanks Vincent
a. w.
A tiny bit busy but a great time full of lots of folks of various levels of ability. Never really gone before but looking forward to learning a little more grace and less baby giraffe floundering.
S. S.
It was was my daughter (aged 9)and her friends first time ice skating this week. I hired the penguins for them as managed to get there early enough. There were quite a few falls which unnerved them but give them their dew it didn't stop them trying again. By the end they were getting the hang of it. My daughter loved it and although fell a couple of times she had the determination to continue and can't wait to go again.
I wish there was a rail of some kind around the edge, to hold on to for those without experience. This would give them abit more reassurance before they are ready to try independently. There was a gentleman on the ice at times who was there to help if necessary. Not sure if it was due to covid but it may have been nice if he'd tried to give tips to those he saw struggling. It wasn't busy the time we went.
I hadn't skated since I was 10 (only twice)but after 36 years absence I enjoyed taking my daughter to do something new and reminiscing when I was a child.
G. A.
Go phantoms!!!!
Love this place, Sunday night hockey is fast becoming a family tradition if you’ve never seen a game, go you will not regret it!!!
A. K.
Great family place to go . Free skating or to watch the games . Bit tired but great atmosphere
S. D.
Was great fun the staff couldn't have been more helpful however rink was too small for the amount of people there
T. W.
This place has barely changed in the 25-30 years since I last went. Brought back fond memories (although I seem to have lost the ability to skate now)
P. K.
3 stars because the skates were very uncomfortable. they hurt my legs, my son's and my partner's.
A. P.
A cool day out trying not to break bones 😂
Place is a little run down but awesome all the same
B. H.
I learnt to skate here 30 years ago! Friendly staff, not too expensive and really impressed that they resurfaced the ice half-way through a public session.
Bad points: locker machines don't appear to accept new £1 coins. Parking Pay Meter isn't co-located with the car park. The venue needs some investment. It's run-down and really would be a shame if Peterborough were to loose it.
S. w.
Was lovely to watch sleeping beauty's performance by the amateur ice skaters.
G. E.
Great time at planet ice peterborough!
L. A.
It's really fun and a great laugh with family and friends I love going ice skating even though I don't know how it is nice to try and I really enjoy it 😊
Z. G.
The place requires some updating. The place is very run down however the staff are very friendly and professional. Didn't like that they were not accepting cards so we had to go out and look for a cash machine. The cafe was very clean and the food was delicious.
J. T.
I used to come here a lot when I was younger and loved it! The whole place definitely needs a bit of tlc and a makeover but overall the ice was decent and enjoyed our time there!
k. p.
Very good day.
a. j.
Spontaneous decision to go there as never have been on ice neither my 6yrs old. Well what an experience, thank you to the staff on ice as well as 'Ice community' as end of the day I found out they not a staff members. They literally took care of my little one and gave some good tips whilst I was trying to work out how to not fall off. Can't thank them all enough-saved our disastrous experience! However place itself is not in good state and really need upgrading, as main focus facilities! Also weren't impressed with parking process...
Q. S.
I would've given 5 star but i cant ice skate, the ice isn't artificial and the rink is big, i highly recommend if you can skate
A.
The staff here are absolutely fantastic, friendly and helpful. They are straight across to help when someone falls over! The place may not be as sparkly as Milton Keynes but it is the best!
J. B.
Great rink. Reasonable rates. Friendly staff. Just don't use the car park, it's run by crooks with no moral fiber!!
A. G.
Yet another planet ice who are welcoming and fully stocked with helpful staff and a well stocked hockey equipment shop (hockey dog)
P. J.
This is a fantastic place for very young/young children to learn ice skating with an instructor on a Sunday morning. Starts 10:00am.
G. H.
Staff helpful and friendly. Place itself is a bit rundown. Costs are a bit of a ripoff. You pay separately for the skating, then add on the skate hire, carparking (can't believe the cheek for this) and a locker. It all adds up. Don't think we'll bother going here again.
C. W.
Seriously needs a refurbishment. Fantastic hockey played here though
G. W.
Staff was welcoming and supportive of youth ice skating. Giant polar bear ice buddies make going out for the first time fun and entertaining for very young skaters. Thank you for a taste of winter and a great experience kids on field trips.
A. M.
Good day out, food and drink Not expensive in restaurant, Park only £1 for 3hrs things for children to use if beginners,
A. N.
Everyone works really hard with the resources they have to make the place run well. A lot of hard work.
D. B.
Awesome night out watching hockey great atmosphere. Only let down was the perspex around the ice in some places it was cloudy restricting vision.
S. J.
I love this rink. Only problem is water dribbling from roof and causing bumps on ice.
P. O.
Friendly and nice staff who were more than willing to help
V. L.
Poor quality equipment. Ice feels like gravel. Cheap car park
J. B.
Loads of fun at planet ice, injuries aside of course, have only been skating twice both times here, and both times I had lots of fun. However found the staff were not too friendly on either occasion and certainly nobody was there to help after one of my children took quite a heavy fall... Its a shame as the fun that can be had here is well worth it!
C. S.
Penguin club on Sunday at 10am is brilliant for under 5's as a first experience and without having to commit to a full term of courses.
k. w.
Nice enough but could do with a bit of a face lift as looks a bit run down. Kids a good time which was the main thing. Price for skating was OK but food in papa John's was not cheap. Staff were very nice and helpful on the rink.
C. F.
Planet Ice is excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, if you have your own skates its even cheaper! Love the music, but best of all you can stay on to watch the Local ice Hockey team's play , and there's a cafe lots of hot chocolate or pizza, very easy to get to,
D.
In need of renovation, very dated and run down interior however fun and enjoyable for the whole family
B. M.
Whilst the ice rink is a decent size, the venue is in dire need of a face lift since it looks incredibly dated and run down. Tickets are rather expensive and customers are even charged for car parking (which isn't the most clearly signed).
Let's hope with amount of money it costs people to skate here, some will be put into giving the place the refurbishment it needs.
J. L.
Great family hockey club, great night out for everyone food and drinks avaible and of course a great game of ice hockey the players are friendly and go out their way to please the fans and the owner does a great job in pushing the club forward anyone that has not been to a phantoms game yet needs to get out and see one. 13 pound for adults and children under 10 are free cheap and good
A. C.
Lovely place to skate, reception staff were very warm and welcoming. The lad in skate hire was very helpful and assisted with putting the skates on my children. Cafe staff were helpful and the papa johns pizza was delicious. My children has a lovely time skating.
T. M.
Good fun.
I think the First aid could have been a bit better set up. I witnessed someone with a cut finger (which does happen sometimes and at no fault of the Ice Rink), however there seemed to be some confusion from the members of staff when presented with an injury. Just needs to be tightened up a bit.
m. b.
Fantastic place for kids parties
The kids love it
D. G.
Had a Brilliant time , will be going again
J. G.
Went with the wife was lovely loads of space few bruises great fun with the wifey x
I. F.
Very nice staff realy friendly and helpfull
E. H.
I enjoy going ice skating here, very big, well staffed and friendly, nice food (papa John's) and access to penguins to stabilise people on the ice. Great for children's parties and a birthday message appears on the board which is a nice touch.
z.
Large ice pad, but very damp due to condensation. Facilities are good and parking is cheap.
E. B.
We went to planet ice today for the penguin skate which is for children to learn and get to grips with the ice. The session was on for an hour and is just enough time for little ones to have a go and not over do it. There are plenty of polar bears and penguins for children to hold on to aswell as a few sledges and little push along ice trikes. The session is cheaper than the general skate and is a more down tempo session. The staff are helpful and there are ice stewards on hand should you need them. The car park is £1 for 3 hours or £3 for 24 hrs. I must also add, there is an "ice card " that you can buy for an annual fee that entitles you to discounted prices for the rest of the year. If you go frequently it's really worth it.
D. A.
Super!!!
J. H.
Parking 1 pound just nextbto the complex
13 pound for enter but U play as much as U want i stay 2 hrs😁.
R. M.
Freezing but #hockey game was great Telford tigers won yay
M. J. t. f.
Me and my friend loved it and the staff were amazing ! But the only things I didn't like were the fact that the rink was a bit small the ice was a bit slippy and we couldn't skate freely as we had to go a curtain direction other than that we had a great time and will be definitely going again!!!.
D. T.
Only been during an ice hockey match (which was very good).
But the ice rink is a decent size. It's got a papa John's pizza inside, where you can get food and drink, as well as a pub upstairs.
A. F.
Been there few times, bit expensive for renting pingueens support for kids, which you got stolen every time you look on side!!
The ice surface was very bumpy to scate, scares so bad quality that I had to exchange them for every one at list once so better is to have your own..
D. L.
While the place is in dire need of a lick of paint, it's a serviceable ice rink and doesn't really cost too much for a session. Staff were a little inattentive and more interested in talking to each other than the customers.
A. L.
I would agree with others who say the building and its location are a bit tired but it is easy enough to find and there is parking. Also the toilets are not great but then many Ice Rinks have this problem. The Ice rink itself seems okay but the public sessions can be quite busy so its difficult to practice skating in the public sessions. Its also fairly expensive (as are most rinks to be fair) and they charge surcharges for debit cards (as do all Planet Ice places). Overall its okay but there are other rinks I prefer...
d. l.
Youngest had a party there. Staff were friendly and the kids enjoyed themselves.
Was completly marred though by a parking charge I recieved in the post for presumably parking for mare than 2 hours when the party slot is 2 hours.
C. C. (.
Great experience, great atmosphere, love it 🥅🏒
J. F.
Really nice place to come. Good location; the staff were friendly and the facilities we're good. They also do skating classes and clubs.
Would definitely go again :)
J. I.
Grab some cash before you go there! They will change £1 for parking and £1 for card payment. There is cash machine inside, but it wasn`t working the last time I was there. Also they will charge you for using a locker. Despite the fact the building is old like dinosaur and toilets are in awful condition it`s still a pretty good place to have some qualiteee time with your friends or family.
E. C.
Good. It is always a good time at planet ice. The staff are considerate, however the skates are falling apart. I had one where the tongue was bent in perminetly, leaving my leg to hurt a bit. My eldest childs skates latch kept on slipping. While the lining on my other childs was all jumbled up. I would greatly appreciate it if the skates would be renewed...
D. F. (. 8.
I'm more used to The Coventry Skydome or Nottingham Ice Arena so it was a bit of a shock to skate somewhere so small, but the place had a lot of character, the people who skated there were all friendly and the staff helpful too. Ice was a bit haggard but they had issues with the zamboni. I'd go again
j. o.
Nice sized rink. Girl at the boot hire desk was super helpful when my boots were rubbing. Swapped them for ones with laces for wide fit.
m. g.
All of the staff at peterborough are really helpful always got time for you and will always greet you with a smile. My only chritasism of the place is A. The quality of the ice during a public session, very rarely do they do an ice cut which means that you are able to build snowmen on the centre and that B. like today there was about 80 or so people on the ice without any here to help staff looking after everyone and making sure that nothing goes wrong.
All in all though the atmosphere at peterborough is very family orientated and the people who frequent the rink are very friendly
J. R.
Love the place my son and I spend most of our weekends here ice hockey and public skate sessions
S. E.
Overall a very good rink with polite staff, go here weekly and rink keeps a consistent quality. However, at some points the ice can be a bit dodgy.
A. M.
This is quite an old and run down ice rink, especially compared to other 'local' ones like Milton Keynes. The rink itself is not huge and the staff are bored and unhelpful for the most part, but as the only ice rink for miles it is OK.
M. T.
Haven't been to Planet ice Peterborough for years but pleasant surprize when I realised they now have a cosy viewing heated bar area. Food and drinks available too..
Feel the £2 parking is a little cavalier. .
G. H.
Good hockey game, good pizza and nice mascot interaction for the kids
W. M.
Ice is very worn, even after being cleaned has many large gouges. Several parts are so thin the concrete is visable.
l. t.
This ice skating rink was kind of small. The doors to exit the ice and onto the ground were very narrow. I witnessed 5 people falling over, just because of other people trying to get in the poorly constructed doors.
The penguins were quite expensive. So was everything! Even the parking!
Other than that, the ice skating rink was OKAY. I don't know if I'll be visiting it again, though.
c. p.
Could do with a spruce up and service was a bit slow in the cafe but as a family we had a good day out.also what the parking,People who run it are trying to fine me even though I had a valid ticket. For this reason I won't now go here instead I will go to MK.
L. W.
Really fun day out for the kids, with lovely staff. It costs to park on site so take a £1 in change!
m. c.
Ice hockey was very underrated by me until I went, amazing trip for families. I think you've got a new fan. LETS GO PHANTOMS!!!!
C. P.
a good morning with friends...
J. S.
Good place for skating. Ice is good quality. Music is on most of the time. I would like to have some nice food available there.
t. e.
Its ok the only problem was the vending machines (the cola one)
I put £1 out of the 90p into it and i didn't get the drink so I had to spend more money on another drink but overall its a 4
J. M.
Rink is older then the average with OK ice and needs a good cleaning. However, for its age the facility is decent and staff treats is participants well.
G. H.
It's good, my sister went for lessons but other people kept coming on to the learning side. The whole areas very nice.
r. 1.
Five stars for the almost-resident cat. Other than that, a great way to look silly and hurt yourself! So, a decent ice-rink. Needs a good clean.
S. R.
Brilliant night, just wish they did the discos still
M. P.
Really enjoyable game tonight vs Bracknell Bees 😊 Amazing atmosphere with welcoming & friendly fans, absoluted loved it! Looks like it will be the first of many matches I will watch 👌
K. S.
We had a great time ice skating. Our children loved it. Awesome afternoon out.👍
M. I.
Really good ice rink. All the staff there were very nice and helpful. The food in the cafe was tasty and good price too.
F. O.
Very good rink but expensive £11.50 per person is prohibitive
A. B.
It's a pretty simple ice rink. I think the amenities could be a little better and the plastic boots are terrible, but the ice is usually in good shape and it's not that crowded.
A. K.
Great place;) lots of fun ;) really nice and helpful staff. I'm really recommending
V. K.
Better bring you own skates or very thick socks! I got a blood blister in their skates... Otherwise everything is good!
S. M.
Good ice hockey match but grounds could do with a renovation, clean but dated. Ladies toilets having something done to them.
R. D.
Went to a phantoms game as always great atmosphere all the staff are polite and helpful . Food is ok bar is nice with a good range of drinks.
r. B.
Would be better if the rink was bigger, it's a nice size but when there are a few people around it can get crowded quickly
D. W.
It was okay but very expensive for the quality of the boot hire, staff don't seem too happy to be at work - food however is really good and pizzas are to die for!
J. B.
Brilliant ice skating arena, friendly staff and good quality skates, looks much better on the inside than the outside would have you believe.
P. G.
The building is a bit old and tired, the penguins and polar bears a bit tatty, the toilets a bit smelly, but the staff are friendly, the ice is well maintained and the fun factor is high.
t. b. e.
Good place but looking very run down. You pay for everything they love squeezing every last pound out of you
T. G.
Skates seem quite cheap and worn, ice could be bigger but still had a great time. Price is alright.
P. C.
Cold. Papa John service, I feel, could be quicker. But hey - MK Lightning won this evening! All is good.
L. G.
Always come here when I take the kids skating, loads of room to skate and not to pricey. Get rid of the old blue hire skates though they are so uncomfey!
L. B.
Brilliant facility for watching Ice hockey. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food prices are very reasonable.
S. G.
As far as it goes... ice skating is ice skating and the rink is a decent size, but the skates are out-dated and uncomfortable and the place itself is in a state of disrepair and rather shabby.
H. S.
We waited for sometime before we could collect our skating boots. The boots where looking very worn and odd laces which where hanging on by a thread. It was hard to locate any staff, soon found them sat in the offices.
d. r.
Granddaughter goes she loves it there staff very friendly
J. N.
Toilets definitely need updating. Smell a little. But ice rink itself it good and big
M. S.
Nice, but rather expensive. Also better quality skates would be welcome
P. L. D.
Good.
S. O.
Good rink. No internet. Cafe not always open. Some issues with hot showers from time to time. Quite small.
A. S.
All good . But ,just one toilet was in use because of covid.
A. A.
Was a great experience took my daughter 1st timer, staff were amazing very helpful would recommend for a family day out
N. J.
I enjoyed watching the phantoms ice hockey. Now I am hooked in the sport I will be going alot more this season.
E. M.
My family love the place is not very clean but for family is fan, to ice-skating super.
A. S.
Ice surface poor, boards wonky, building needs a lot of attention. Have to pay for parking and that is full of pot holes.
M. A.
Fun but tiring
S. Q.
A bit run down on the outside but the ice rink itself is good. Kids had a good time
s. C.
Great and amazing place
B. H.
Loved it
G. G.
Good relaxing place! 🥰
T. D.
Very good rink and excellent service. Needs some TLC. Parking not good.
N. L.
First time been in ages, place is starting to look bit run down. Staff were brilliant though
C. W.
Great ice hockey match. Wish I'd brought a warmer coat though - it was a bit chilly.
D. C.
They need to hire boots that are not broken. The ring is a good size and well maintained
J. M.
Daughters first lesson and we were very impressed with how well organised it was and the teachers seemed very nice.
M. S.
Can't believe a cafe closing at 4 pm on a match Saturday. Otherwise fine
A. P.
Premises quite dated, ice quite good. Prices reasonable to an extent. If not having anything extra.
D. C.
I've been here to watch the Peterborough Phantoms play. The rink in general could do with an upgrade, however the staff on a match night always perform well.
N. N.
Nice ice skating. Place need refurbishment. American stile would suit
M.
This Ice Rink has been the same for years and years. It is quite dull and dark in there. Maybe not much can be done about it but some colours wouldn't harm the place surely!
a. h.
Watched the Ice hockey team play, atmosphere was a little dry, nothing really to write home about.
S. S.
Love watching ice hockey... Anyone who hasn't seen a game should definitely go once!
A. L.
Really great time here, food, entertainment and a bar what more could you want.
m. w.
Such a fun day out if u like iceskating like i do and cheap prices for the day
W. M.
Ice is very worn, even after being cleaned has many large gouges. Several parts are so thin the concrete is visable.
J. M.
Rink is older then the average with OK ice and needs a good cleaning. However, for its age the facility is decent and staff treats is participants well.
a. r.
Kept nice and clean, with friendly staff. However it is rather small and could do with a renovation as it’s getting rather old.
M. H.
Needs a bit of a overhaul in the rest rooms. Good fun place to be. Friendly staff
P. V.
Its fun for people learning to scate
