Lovely venue, sound could be better but it's an old school gig venue. Security staff were brilliant and very friendly. Very pleased that bar now has tribute compared to last visit when it was just horrible larger.
b. d.
Just seen long awaited feeder gig. was meant to see them in Bournemouth last year but gig was cancelled so was really looking forward to finally seeing them and wasn't disappointed..absolutely brilliant
K. B.
A good place for a Gig. I went here when Faithless played. It was fantastic.
Sadly the pandemic has put a stop to concerts and live attractions here.
Hopefully it will return to being used for what it’s intended for.
And, NO! It’s not a skateboard park! There’s one down Hoglands Park for that.
Go there instead!
K. M.
Really good experience. Only downside is that the venue hadn't labelled where the access area was and it meant I was standing for a lot longer than should have. It was a shame because other than that, it was phenomenal!
C. H.
A great venue, small capacity but able to draw fairly big names in for tours. Gives people of the south an opportunity to see some good bands, efficient with getting people through the door. (Photos of recent DMA’S gig)
M. R.
Great atmosphere depending on who you go see stage is a little small but the bar area is well managed toilet clean overall great venue.
J.
If I'm honest, I was expecting more. We went to see a well known comedian. The chairs were uncomfortable, sat too close together and the bar wasn't staffed enough for everybody queuing in the intermission to get a drink. Show was great though. The outside of the building is fantastic and the staff were pleasant.
M. P.
We had a great time seeing the illegal eagles we have been waiting 2 years for them we have seen them 3 time's now and they was just as good as the first time 😁
h. t.
I have a disability and fortunate to attend a number of gigs across the country. Southampton Guildhall is, without doubt, one of my favourites. The staff are extremely kind, the access is fantastic and I cannot recommend this venue enough.
A. S.
Went to see Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse chatting about their lives and the popular fishing program they host. The best 90 minutes I've spent for many years. Hilarious stories and tales from 2 very ordinary working class blokes. If you get the chance to see them, do it!
C. D.
Very cold on arrival for wolf Alice but it soon warmed up ;) it's a bit of an odd space for a concert if you are at the back you won't see a thing but I enjoyed myself and the acoustic was fine near the front. Its a bit tired in decoration as well. Well organised though.
T. L.
Venue is awesome, sound system was killer and the lights were incredible, lack of cloak room when we went was a pain as it gets warm as most venues do, and we had to hold our winter coats. But other than that would visit again!
E. M.
Lovely old building, staff were pleasent and efficient. Once the doors opened we moved quickly through and shown to our seats. The bar staff were equally efficient.
Toilets were clean and well stocked.
J.
Went to a Feeder gig this week (seen many bands here over the years & my son's graduation was here too!) The venue is great, staff on entrance and the bar were quick and efficient! Thanks!
M. D.
Went to see calling planet earth last night 23 april 22 at the guildhall, first time i had been there. Absolutely brilliant night out we had, good accoustics because of the high ceiling, loads of space to freely move around, well organised & helpful staff on site to assist. As for the band... anyone who is into their eighties especially the new romantic era these are a 100% must see.. pyrotechnics the lot! The girl on the sax defo knew how to blow it!! Nice to be back out after covid pandemic in amongst others without masks🙂🙂. Thanks for a wicked night out
N. B.
Bag checks took far too long meaning we entered thw venue as the ahow was starting. People kept running down the aisle and standing at the front blocking our view, we booked seats at the front because of disability (one of our party is severely sight impaired, another has a severe neurological condition and can'tstand for long periods of time). We had to report the people to security because they were coming from further back than us repeatedly. Because we reported them they started making threats against the 17 year old girl who was with us!! Security threatened to remove them but didn't follow through!
Gig was great as always Boyzlife and their band were amazing 👏
S. B.
We as a family (seven of us) attended a Whitney Houston tribute on Saturday night at the Guildhall. Our adult niece has special needs and I wanted to say that the Manager Ian Leversidge really went the extra mile to make her comfortable. Also at the end of the evening when leaving the venue he arranged for the security barriers to be lowered so our niece was able to access the vehicle arranged to take her home. Thank you Mr Leversidge you are a credit to the Guildhall.

Not sure if it's a good idea to have carpet on the floor with 1500 people spilling beer on it. Long queues for the toilets but overall not a bad venue, though no beer on tap , just cans.
J.
Always great gigs but always struggle with the sound. Instruments overpower the vocals massively, although they have some great bands I would choose another venue if I had the opportunity.
s. a.
Good venue, uncomfortable seating, not raised but staggered positions.. We sat to close to front so sore neck at the end of the show... Will pick different seats next time
M. L.
Guildhall Southampton, absolutely cracking venue to hear all the good and great this country has to offer. The bars open, happy to serve, to make your evening swing. The sound sublime very well balanced from the front to the back. And in these trouble times, don't be, the staff are professional, polite, very helpful and on the ball.
I've experience the Guildhall, now you must, enjoy 😎
O. M.
Great space and nearly all standing which IMHO is how it should be. Great service at the bars. Not totally convinced about the acoustics but overall great venue
A. W.
I mean you can't go wrong when you have Black Stone Cherry and The Kris Barras Band.
W. S.
It's a passable venue, but there really should be some curtains separating the foyer from the main room. Plus the sound sucks and the lights are so bright that it's sometimes difficult to see what's going on. Very little atmosphere too.
K. W.
Easy to get to, nice places to eat nearby. But , went for a stage show and the seats are glorified camping chairs the feeling us only just returning to my backside now 2 hrs later.
P. B.
Good Night with Mr Paul Weller, long awaited, but worth the wait !!!
M. H. (.
WOS WRESTLING! Was really entertaining, my boy loved it! Seating plan was a good layout however one of the staff members had no idea where anyone's seats were!... So that was fun 😬
There needs to be a better range of goodies and snacks- especially with an event like this where there's lots of kids!
But overall a fab night!
P. C.
Sound quality not always great for concerts but good to have a reasonable large concert venue in Southampton
A. W.
Great gig nice venue. I would have given five stars. Except the cloakroom was closed, there were 1500 people at a great gig all very uncomfortable stuck in their winter coats. It really does spoil the entire evening.
J. A.
Great concert and events venue in Southampton.
N. A.
Southampton has sorted itself out as a proper venue over the years. Sound could be poor at times and wasn't attracting the decent bands doing the touring rounds but now it consistently gets the Primal Screams, Manic Steet Preachers, Wolf Alice's etc. Its also a good medium sized venue with space, some architectural character and reasonable access to the bar. Tbh I can't really fault Soton Guildhall these days.
_.
I took a disabled lady to a show recently, the staff were extremely helpful and supportive, assisting her while I went to get the car afterwards. Thank you.
K. H.
We went to see Michael starring Ben. The show was brilliant. The bar was good value, we had front row seats which was great. The cleanliness of the toilets however was not as nice.
W. M.
A great venue,not too large.Acoustics very good.
M. R.
Medium sized concert hall in Southampton. Easy but uphill walk from the railway station. Normally standing venue. Does have a small section of seats but these are all behind ( but above) the standing area. Drinks prices are ridiculous.
M. S.
Great venue where you can get up close and live the whole experience.
T. H.
Beautiful building. Sat in the balcony and had a great view. Temperature was good throughout and not stuffy. Seats are a bit old and uncomfortable. No hot drinks available but bar serves alcohol and soft drinks.
s. o.
Only 5 minutes walk from Southampton Rail Station and near to Westquay and Above shops. Used as baggage storage for Southampton half marathon. Quite good concert venue, have used on several occasions
P. B.
Gig was amazing and loved seeing Alestorm and Gloryhammer in Southampton but the venue is terrible. Been seeing bands here for a long while and the acoustics just dont work for metal bands. I first walked in and was just happy to hear live music then i remembered why i avoid this place.
If you can see them elsewhere its worth a little bit of travel.
3 stars purely for the bands.
L. C.
The place is the right size for such performances, with very good acoustic. It is lovely place.
Beth Hart was amazing!!!
J. P.
Attended the 800th Mayor Making Ceremony today, it was a wonderful experience, highly recommended.
J. M.
Impressive entrance outside at night. Had a great evening plenty of space all staff helpfull, and a plus had a great choice of alcoholic beverages.
C. M.
Went to see Alestorm. Venue was a decent size however O2 priority queueing was not clearly signposted so ended up missing out. However once in a couple of bars to choose from and its a lovely intimate venue which doesn't feel too claustrophobic.
N. P.
Went to the Guildhall for the first time last night to see the Wombats and was really impressed....just ten mins from the rail station, an imposing entrance leads to a characterful hall with great acoustics. Slight shame there was no draught beer but the decanted cans of red stripe from friendly staff ensured the dancing shoes were on all night....in fact I am still pogoing 24 hours later:-))
As for the Wombats....if they were as beautiful as Bowie then they would be bigger than the Beatles...
L. L.
Performed large choir collaberation concert here. Our choir's dressing room only had a handful of chairs for 230 of us. The changing screen was handy, though.
A. G.
Excellent venue...interesting self service pints
D. P.
Went to see Ed Byrne. Great show, good accoustics, friendly staff. Park early if you want a parking space, and gentlemen, if you're planning on going to the toilet in the interval, go early because it's chaos! Apart from those minor grumbles, would absolutely go there again for a show or concert.
M. L.
A wonderful hall/venue if you want to use this venue please don't hesitate it's perfect on many levels
R.
Great for live music events. Cheap bar. Sound can be a bit iffy at times but overall a great atmosphere.
L. S.
Sound quality is always a bit off, not sure if it's the set up or the shape of the room but there is rarely good balance in the times we've been there. It's clean and it's handy to have the bars at the side.
J. K.
This is a lovely building and have visited a couple of times for very different events. Enjoyed both times immensely
G. W.
Good venue just needs some decent beer and it would be perfect.
Halestorm where just amazing.
H. T. D. S.
Acoustically not the best music venue. But location and facilities are good.
b. b.
Last week we attended the DMA's concert and it was fantastic. The bar staff, especially Anne were so helpful and still smiling even though the bars were busy. Thank you!
S. B.
Been to this venue for many a gig! On this occasion it was to see Erasure who were brilliant. Good location near to plenty of pubs and eating places. Staff are always friendly.
H. P.
Decent venue, staffing a bit over the top but that's an O2 for you
S. H.
Went to my daughter's graduation. Lovely place. Ideal for the event.
M. K.
food ok but very warm, did not see any lift access to cloakroom or restrooms and about 30 stairs to get down to them. Covid precautions good.
A. G.
Great little venue, friendly staff, last visit was to watch the circus of horrors
r. j.
Decent sized with easy to access bars and toilets. Drinks are as expensive as you'd expect in a music venue. The acoustics are really sub par though. Probably as the main hall is a long, straight hall.
B. M.
Went and saw the boys are back amazing atmosphere took me back a few years to my teens went with one of my sisters we had so much fun the only annoying issue was the lighting on the stage kept going off in every direction kept effecting my eyes so had to wear my sunglasses but apart from that a great night out.😁👊10/10
W. C.
Love this venue!! The wood panelling and carving. The bands were excellent, it was amazing to see live music again.
C. M.
Unhinded view. Stage good size. Two bars. Loos down stairs. AWB amazing. Stage lighting needs changing. Too pink and mauve.
P. X.
Good spot for all of skaters.
A. T.
Great show but cold echoey building in need of a facelift. Set out seats uncomfortable. Even the artist called it a mausoleum!
N. W.
Great venue for a gig. Not too big and yiu can easily see the stage from anywhere.
A. T.
Great smaller venue, good sound, great staff
N. C.
Nice place. When I went in, a nice lady asked me all my medical history and then jabbed me with a needle. I was then asked to not leave for 15minutes. Carpet made my head spin a little. Would recommend.
M. P.
Nice setting, smooth entrance process with covid passes etc. Expensively priced water though
S. M.
Intimate without being too small. Not a 5* establishment but perfect for what we want. Restaurants and parking within a few minutes walk. I will definitely be back.
S. P.
We went to see Paul Weller at the O2 Southampton, fantastic venue, great gig, Mr Weller at his best. Venue brilliant.
E. M.
Slightly on the small side as far as venues goes but more than adequate for a gig or ceremony, all in all it is a nice place and we'll maintained.
R. F.
Great venue not too big great views from all around
M. G.
Had a lovely night, but the theatre itself is not the nicest. Staff were perfectly polite and helpful, but nothing on tap and drinks were a bit pricey considering they were out of a can. Seating is noticeably cheap and not the most comfortable, but not the worst to be fair. It is near the train station and some multi storey car parks, and there's restaurants and bars just outside which is very convenient.
Not the best venue but not the worst either, still had a good night and would go again for a good show at a good price.
S. R.
Great venue for gigs, though sound can be a bit off sometimes
P. M.
We go to a lot of shows at many different places, it is a little shabby and feels very amateur. The toilets were OK need a good dust and clean, and the bar snacks could do with looking at. Also to serve drinks all through the performance l feel was of course just to make money on the night, but having people constantly walking past and the bar doors left open took away from the atmosphere of the show, which was good.
P. D.
Awesome place seen many bands there!
L. B.
Great venue for live music .
a. m.
Was here for graduation ceremony its a lovely place and building but the only downside was that it needs air conditioning. Would have been more comfortable.
M. C.
Excellent venue. Spacious, characterful, convenient.
J. D.
One of the strangest venues ive ever been to to see a live band but the sound was amazing and the layout was better than first thought when we arrived. The seats on the balcony are quite outdated and uncomfortable but the view of the stage was brilliant.
The main downside was the selection of merchandise because of how small of an area allocated was, the other minor downside was the price of drinks it was extremely expensive for what you were buying, Overall a venue worth visiting to see a band or act that you'd like to see.
A. S.
Great place for events! Even though it's old the place is really tidy and well kept and the restrooms are big and clean!
J. A.
Beers a bit pricey but it's a lovely venue and the staff stemmed freindly.
S. L. H.
Came here to see Alestorm. Staff at venue were really friendly and helpful. Gig was amazing!
A. C.
My grandson's graduation was held here today. Wonderful setting, thank you
E. S.
It's fine - the side bars had a way better selection of better drinks. It's a bit run down, and in the gig during quiet acoustic songs there was just a bunch of noise from outside. Also their website keeps telling me to go see things that happened in 2013!?
A. G.
Love it, I don't care about the acoustics etc. At least we got a half decent venue to see bands
M. C.
Fantastic Queen tribute act. Loved it
L. C. M.
As a music venue it's great, always long queues to get in, use the facilities and cloak room though. Bar is good, usually served fairly quickly but they've had card machines down each time I've been.
A.
Great location for live music!
A. M.
Despite the simplistic interior design, it was a very impressive experience.
B. J.
Great live venue, been here a number of times for different acts/styles and the sound quality is good. Hard 23:00 curfew but not uncommon these days. Seating area is set quite far back but this is more of a standing venue anyway.
D. K.
Amazing, intimate venue! Would definetly come here again. Amazing night seeing papa roach!
P. K.
This is one of my favourite venues for a gig, friendly staff, well positioned bars and a great sound surrounding the hall when bands are playing. I've been here a couple of times now and have been very pleased both times, plus there is plenty of parking in the local area.
S. K.
Great venue for live music and events. Situated close to the centre of Southampton, and not far from the Avenue, it offers convenience for locals and people travelling into the city alike. We have seen several concerts there. It has a great atmosphere for live music. The only real criticism is that the acoustics could be slightly better.
F. S.
Great venue for live music. The sound was fab (mind you that also depends on the artist - Jack Savoretti was magic). Toilets good but the usual queue at the ladies. Didn't use any of their refreshments.
M. K.
Brilliant venue, nice carpet 😘
L. N.
The band was brilliant. The staff on the doors were quick and kinda nice. Bars a little expensive but well staffed and enough variety.
The toilets and cloak room are downstairs and not enough for capacity so expect long queues for men and women.
L. F.
We used the outside space to hold a rally for Jeremy Corbyn visiting Southampton
A. R.
Always a pleasure to do a show here. Les, Rob and the team are fantastic.
J. D.
Good venue for music, been many times but this was first gig since Covid. Event was very well organised in regards to entry and covid status checking and the whole experience was stress free. Bar isn't over priced (for a gig venue) and facilities are decent (usual queues during interval!).
K. T. P.
Great venue, good seating, staff and value for money drink prices
S. P.
Saw Katherine jenkins... Lovely, small theatre... Covid passport checks upon entry.. Lovely atmosphere
N. J.
The venue itself is pretty good. The sound quality is decent and the access area is well staffed. Bars are always a nightmare here though.
From my experience, the deals are rarely able to be honoured because stuff runs out, drink prices are really high, choices are limited and the queues are always huge. I may have just been there on bad days, though.
S. M.
Great live venue. Some fairly big acts. Balcony seating is good. Ticket prices are fairly reasonable. Only negative is drinks are expensive, £2 for a bottle of water, although fairly standard price at these sort of places.
J. M.
A great medium sized venue. Feels huge but can actually provide a really cosy/intimate gig atmosphere. Saw Machine Head here a few weeks ago and I'm still buzzing! Worth noting the 2300 curfew though, which is so people can make the last train(s) on time.
D. C.
Good evening, bar staff could've been a bit quicker but an enjoyable evening
M. O.
Watched Jonathan Pie. Great venue.
g.
Nice big space with good facilities and bars...but there was a wood to cover the cables in the theatre that was like a step was a bit dangerous (indeed i heard someone stumble on it)
Then again the chairs very small and not comfortable, even with ppl of normal size i was crampt in between others.
For the rest ...good
C. M.
Stand-up with Jason Manford
A. G.
Beautiful old building although it does smell musty
L. W.
I always love coming here. They are always just so organized with everything, and there's never a queue for the ladies (though maybe that's just cause of what I go and see). Good beer selection, though more ales would be nice. I just love we have so many live music venues in Southampton now
P. G.
Great show - Ed Byrne. Place is like a maze, though. My first visit and there is no helpful signage for an interval visit to the loo. Didn't find a bar, either. But the auditorium's sound is very good and it wasn't as vast as some other local town hall buildings. Would visit again.
r. t.
It's a venue to watch entertainment that's on a stage. Looks pretty and grand from the outside with pleasant lighting. The inside is a bit dated and would benefit from a full revamp. The upper stalls are too far from the stage in my opinion. Parking is a 5 min walk away in a multi story car park. Close to a shopping centre and restaurants.
M. D.
The place is well equipped. I would have given 5 stars but they seem to struggle with regulating the temperature in there. Saturday was baking, Sunday was freezing. Still, great venue for all kinds of things.
C. M.
Fairly smooth entry, good view of showand balanced sound. Seats were uncomfortable.
t. c.
Fantastic evening, lovely venue. Katherine Jenkins was amazing!!
R. D.
Prime location, easy to find. Venue was great , sound was amazing. The staff so helpful at all stages of our night, free water was handed out to everyone at the concert. Will be going again.
A. R.
Bars are reasonably stocked but not a great choice of beers. Mainly Carlsberg and San Miguel from bottles and cans - not from the pump. Acoustically the venue is not very good. It's basically a big box with 2 huge speakers either side of the stage. The sound tends to 'disappear',
A. /.
Saw Mastodon. They were great.
Staff seemed ok, bar was less expensive than usual, which was nice.
The carpet was just the right level of gross and since the smoking ban came in the stench of hairy BO really adds to the charm of seeing stuff live.
Yes, it's a carpet.
If you spill your drink, or pee, Noone will notice a new smell and for that: 5/5
C.
The sound quality borders on being ok sometimes, but mostly it's just bass and drums all the way down. For all I know the lead singers could have composed ballads consisting entirely of slurs about my mother. The drinks are over four quid and are unashamedly poured from a can.
D. H.
More intimate venue than London venues, bar in a separate area so you can hear what the bar staff are saying which is good! Only down side is the toilet queue and a more personal note, they don't sell Archers 😣 Well stocked bar other than that though☺
J. B.
Has some great bands , sound can be a bit iffy but generally ok. Good sized venue with nice high stage so you can get a pretty good view in most places
S. i. I.
Attended an evening music event. Parking a short walk away just off the ringroad is £3 after 6pm. Typically the drinks are expensive. Seating is adequate...most is on the flat with a small section at the back tiered.
But frankly the worst aspect of this venue is the acoustics. This is an original Guildhall...a solid box of a building...and does not have any acoustic design or alteration. The building echoes and you don't get the best from the performer.
My advice is...if you have a choice, go to a venue designed as a theatre or for music events.
M. S.
Nice venue. Saw Erasure here 15th Feb.
Queue was well managed. Plenty of bar staff, friendly and quick service. Easy to exit the venue once concert over.
Staff were all pleasant and helpful.
D. H.
Are you scared of heights? The kind that comes with narrow ledges? Then this amazing venue, huge as it is is not for you. I had to go up the tiers on my hands and knees. Your feet are on the shoulders of the person in front, sure no unobstructed view BUT no safety rail, someone wants to get past for a look break, or worse still you want to pass someone else.. whoa scary as ever, but the performance was amazing.
M. “. A.
Nice city centre venue for music (mainly), easy to get to, parking nearby. Its an old venue, 1930s I think, and quite long and thin so you can be quite a way from the stage which isn't too easy on the eyes. Seats are not the most comfortable if you are sitting for long.
B. M. 2.
A bit old and toilet waiting line was very long but worth it to the gigs and the band's that perform here
J. A.
Great venue and very well organised to manage the Covid entry requirements.
J. N.
There are usually loads of events going on here. The outside is filled with talented skaters which are fun to watch and the inside usually holds music events or any other event you can think of. At night this place is lit up and it looks amazing. I highly recommend visiting this place sometimes cause there is usually something different going on everytime I walk past
O.
I've been here for multiple events: a dance show, live music, gin festival and a student ball. Whilst there is certainly plenty of space, this works to the venues disadvantage for anything other than big gigs. When there is a big event, the bars struggle to cope.
The decor is looking a bit tired too.
P. B.
Nice location in Southampton although parking can be tricky as it doesn't have its own car park. There are public car parks nearby to use. Nice venue for all sorts of events. Onsite bar. Good stage and lighting as well as sound system.
A. H.
Good venue, plenty of space and the drinks are reasonably priced for the place it is. Only downside is it lacks a gradient so if you're slightly shorter it can be difficult seeing at times.
K. R.
A great gig venue - I saw OMD here and loved the atmosphere.
N. S.
It's OK for a music venue. I've been to better, but really for me it's all about the music, if it's good then then the venue doesn't really matter. I live locally so the Guildhall is convenient and gets some big names
S. R.
Chairs in the stalls are the fold-up kind, so not particularly comfortable. The bar queue was 3 people deep throughout the interval, I only just managed to get a drink just as the second interval was starting.
L. R.
Brilliant venue, great O2 staff, the music was a little bit too loud for my liking but I had ear plugs, O2 priority is great for drinks at the bar and for the cloakroom if your on the O2 network.
A. S.
Drinks mega expensive, plastic drinks containers instead of glasses but all the same a good venue for class acts.
A. C.
Good atmosphere. Sound can be OK these days, as long as the sound engineer is up to scratch, but always the risk that with such difficult acoustics a bad mix can leave thw band inaudible.
W.
We went to see Sundara Karma. Beautiful, amazing performance
M.
Haven’t been for a while, but what a great gig to return to.
A. W. (.
Attended the O2 Guildhall to see Within Temptation perform their last gig before going off to France. Brilliant they were and I really enjoyed there performance. Looking to the release of there next CD on the 14th December 18.
A. R.
Acoustics are not the best here, sound quality can be a bit poor due to the open space creating a lot of reverb. But still seen many great bands play here
K. T.
Lovely venue but acoustics need improvement!
D. (.
Went to see rock challenge today and the staff were quite helpful in directing me to where to go. However the organisation was not the best as the seating plan was all over the place. The toilets were quite clean. Overall a solid 4
R. C.
Had a great time with my wife and friends watching Dweezil Zappa play Hot Rats
Good venue although the ancient seats could be replaced for comfortable chairs
Expensive beer considering it was cans not draught
P. D.
It's was well organised and and very hygienic and everybody knew what they were doing.Hats off for the staff
W. G.
lovely venue and staff, always a great night.
D. S.
Its a nice venue, I've watched a Circus show, been to an award presentation and a beer festival there. I've also seen this location used for Graduates, its definitely an important venue for Southampton.
N. R.
Lovely venue. Daughters graduation ceremony! Very good.
C. “. T.
It's OK but going to a concert and everyone stands up isn't ideal if disabled
K. L. S.
Never been a massive fan of the guildhall as a venue - it always seems half empty and there's something about gig venues with carpets that makes my skin crawl. Nevertheless, it's a lovely building and drinks prices are reasonable.
D. M.
Lovely '30's building. Watched Joanna Lumley for an evening. Excellent accoustics but seating was old school on the flat looking up at the stage over people's shoulders. The building is beautiful and cherished.
B. S.
The amp was set for the main act, fair enough, but that ment that the support band was distorted and rather painful to our ailing ears on the balcony. I suggest taking ear plugs just incase you need to protect against tinnitus.
E. H.
Went to see Suede, was disappointed with the sound quality and drink pricing. Bottled water was the only none alcoholic drink available at the front bar very expensive for a small bottle. Did not use the side bar as it was packed.
L.
Went into Gateway to get a permit and the staff where lovely and hot on heels about having hands sanitised which I was very impressed by.
S. H.
The event wasnt very well attended (not thier Fault ). The accostits meant we really struggled to hear what the act was saying. Singing was audible.
Rather over zealous security staff given thier were so few people at the event.
I. A.
Thought the staff were very helpful and the cloakroom adendants were excellent .I loved the idea of a Fleet Foxes poster for a pound going to Cancer research .
Always enjoyed coming to the venue ,but the Fleet Foxes were just exceptional.
N. W.
Good venue with quality sound and accessible layout to see your favourite bands with plenty of restaurants about to grab a quick bite before hand.
H. P.
The live music is cool, but they could improve the venue in the future because it's not functional enough. Still, the concerts which I attended there went quite good.
A. B.
Boney M 15th December 2018
L. S.
Excellent venue, but, ridiculous prices for refreshments, and they confiscate your own drinks
Z. B.
I love this place because I saw motorhead for the first time and it was amazing I'm talking about 2006 oh my god the walls was vibrating glasses was in the air people were body surfing and trying to touch Lemmy the front Singer screaming I really really had a fantastic exciting rock night I ever had the toilets are immaculate but the drinks are a little bit expensive but all the rest good night yeah yeah
J. O.
One of the best venues we have in Southampton, decent sound quality and plenty of space for any type of concert goer. Steep drink prices but it's to be expected.
J. W.
Very useful and informative. Predominantly care agencies , but in all Fields. Careers advice available including apprenticeships my daughter and valuable advice on teaching assistant work including working with children with disabilities . A very good afternoon
B. P.
Been here many times and had some great nights out I've seen music acts here and comedians
P. R.
Great venue for live music. The cloak room was a bit understaffed at the end and the gents toilets stank. Overall though it was a great venue.
O. M.
Plenty of staff no clients went for covid test all were very helpful
N. C.
A really lovely building with a really spacious room with a stage inside for live performances. Also a great range of events are held at times throughout the year here.
h.
Watched The Darkness here! Great venue with good selection of drinks. Drinks are fairly expensive but you'd expect that from a music venue. Overall very good experience!
S. G.
Great venue. Easy to park nearby. Great seats. Super friendly staff. Will definitely see a band here again.
B. S.
Saw Erasure here 15.2.18 great night, lovely venue 👍
d. g.
Just seen Blackberry Smoke. What a gig! Great venue
L. C.
Amazing venue for concerts have seen a few artists perform here now and never had any issues
p. w.
It's a ok place for live music but the sound quality is quite poor but some bands have pulled out some great performances
P. M.
So went to see alestorm tonight, great experience
P. B.
Better sound than in the past. Easy to get in. Big queue for the 🚻 though
C. D.
Beautiful building, currently a COVID testing centre
T. S.
Great place to go to gigs (the best stage crew about) 🤘😉
D. C.
Glorious building, harkens back to architectural grandeur.
d. r.
Great small place to see live bands
S. G.
Very good performance by Keith and Brian.
M. P.
Guildhall is a good venue for concerts. The concert was brilliant. Tiered seating is uncomfortable for people wih long legs . Parking in the Guildhall carpark is vertually impossible & alot of people were late arriving.
B. S.
Like an open auditorium, good place to relax
C. O.
Saw Ciara O'Leary live, great performance in a fantastic venue! Worth the money, would definitely go again. Venue is intimate enough for small bands/gigs, makes it a lot more worthwhile.
S. C.
Great place to see bands Kasabian wer amazing
G. M.
Great concert tonight by HM Marines band very well done the lads. Very good venue too. Parking nearby limited though
K. I.
Saw my all time favourite band here, which was a great atmosphere and venue for the event. Also saw my partner graduate here which was also a lovely experience
J. M.
Medium size shoebox without any remarkable feature.
g. d.
great sound, acoustics and atmosphere. only downside is small amount of ladies toilets and trek downstairs to basement to get to them
E. G.
Had a great evening. Seats might have been a little more comfortable for what we paid. However overall we did enjoy the experience
L. Y.
Blinded by the lights! Mediocre sound pa and the lights are all behind the stage so you mostly see this....
S. S.
Covid test... so simple .. great staff
S. H.
Good entertainment. Easy reach of public transport
M. S.
Great music, delicious food and memorable moments.
K. V.
Venue was a good size. Toilets seemed okay. Cloakroom okay. Bar was busy, but that's a concert for you!
J.
Great sound and good atmosphere. They don't serve pints of beer or cider though which I found strange for a music venue.
S. A.
Saw Fontaines DC here, was a good venue.
K. C.
Don't know if they have someone new doing the sound but was a lot better this time than previous visits good venue for seeing bands.
S. J.
Shame there wasn't more choice in the beer and wine selection, and didn't think the sound was very good during the gig, could be a much better venue
J. A.
Great size for a venue, not too intimate for big bands around the world to visit but not too large to be too far away from the performance; if you’re too old for mosh pits!
P. M.
Been to some great events here, always had a fab time. The venue is not to big so you don't miss a thing.
P. G.
Saw The Damned here 22-8-18 nice big venue friendly staff...dear drinks as all O2 venues are :( pre-drink to get around this & your fine.
J. M.
Nice venue, quite big so can feel a bit soulless but it's got something to it and shows good things
M. L.
Great place, superb building. The only thing that creates a problem is the dire need for suitable air conditioning. I'm sure discreet ducting would do the trick.
L.
Would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. Freya Ridings was awesome
S. S.
Great gig with Bears Den
D. G.
Guildhall never fails to impress. Great venue
H. B.
Great venue. Beautiful building. I saw The Animals , Troggs and The Fortunes recently - a really good evening.
L. L.
Great venue, parking 5 mins walk away and plenty of laces to eat nearby. Saw the Editors (7/10/18) fantastic night 🎶
C. W.
Its about time Southampton Guildhall had a refurb! It could do with the entrance being upgraded. Now the area adjacent is open it would be worthwhile. The acoustics need to be sorted out too! Come one Southampton!
M. C.
Great building, excellent staff, disgusting carpet
r. b.
Amazingly high ceiling, love attending live music events here!
S. M.
Beautiful building with friendly helpful staff 🙂
J. A.
Descent venue, seen a few bands in here. Good facilities, you can get a beer reasonably quickly.
S. J.
Good venue, but poor choice of drinks for those who don't want alcohol or artificial sweeteners
G. C.
Great venue, very atmospheric, could use better ventilation or air conditioning as it was hot inside
M. R.
Not the best place acoustically for live bands.
P. M.
We went to hear Michael Ball in concert absolutely fabulous performance, great atmosphere. The sound was excellent, well organized
J.
Had my university graduation here. Spacious venue with multiple Multi story car parks in the local area within walking distance.
F.
This is a great open area to meet people and for events. It's used a lot by skateboarders during the day and there are lots of high quality restaurants opposite this area.
D. O.
Great concert venue, hosting major international bands, let down by echoy acoustics which could be solved by some dampers on the high ceiling and upper walls.
T.
Great gig venue in the center of Southampton.
J.
Very run-down facilities.
J. B.
Great venue drinks are a little pricey but over all a good gig venue
S. G.
Nice venue but the access isn't friendly for those who have mobility issues and neither are the toilets.
D. H. B.
Good range of gigs and events held here. However the acoustics of the venue leave much to be desired.
K. H.
Brilliant venue, but was painfully loud and like all O2 venues the beer was expensive
S. w.
Lovely venue to watch a performance, worth taking a booster for younger ones, as the seating is not tiered
H. K.
The event was mediocre, the food was bad. The venue on the other hand was quite spacious and pleasing to the eye
Z. M.
My friend and I saw James. Lovely venue, lots of room to stand and decent selection at the bar.
E. N.
Saw tom odell here who was great. Staff nice enough and queueing system OK no barriers like other venues though
N. S.
Great place for gigs, very pretty at night all lit up, easily accessible and a selection of bars around. Reasonably priced too for an academy
C. F.
Love this venue for live music gigs. Best value for parking is The Marlands (evenings).

Lovely building but lack of toilets, bar to small and uncomfortable seating if your there for more than an hour.

Great venue with easy access. Lots of good bars and restaurants within minutes.
S. P.
A very good venue and staff.
R. P.
Great place to dance. 4 hours of dancing on a large floor.Lovely afternoon each month.
R. M.
Venue is a good size, has large variety of well known acts and events. Always clean and very organised with entry, exit, cloakroom etc. 3 bars well located to the stage/ main room which can be very busy but as expected. Acoustics are not amazing for gigs but you can get a really good view and sound from the seating available. Centrally located and near transport links as well as bars. Beautiful building inside and out.
A. P.
