Approx 600 people venue, across 2 floors. Plenty of friendly staff behind the bar.
Martin Kemp was DJ there that night, so needless to say it was at max capacity. The atmosphere was fantastic. I had a great night and will deffinately return.

t. p.A good venue. A real strong point is the layout - it's quite wide rather than long and set up so you get a great view from almost everywhere. Nice long bar with lots of staff serving so there's no long waits for beer.

Also get some excellent acts - although a few too many tribute bands for my liking. Had a local Vibrant Forest beer at the bar too. A shame it was only Doombar on hand pump - should get something more local there too.

P. C.The best music venue in Southampton IMHO. I have visited this venue for at least 12 years and have seen many bands here, the right band will sell out the venue. I used to live local but now live 50 miles away but still visit as it's worth the journey!

A great place to watch live music and I was particularly impressed by the staff in the upstairs bar. Top work guys !! Two good size bars, good size and clean toilets, great sound system and acoustics, and a quirky set-out that I really liked. Can't wait to visit again...

I. S.I love live music in an intimate setting, and have always enjoyed gigs here. The mezzanine floor is a great feature. There are several bars and not much wait to get served. My only criticism is they don't always have music I want to see but that's not their fault!

There are two bars, one downstairs and one upstairs where you can have a great view of the stage from the all round balcony, though there isn’t a lot of room, you need to get there early for a prime spot upstairs.
Plenty of room downstairs but depending whose playing it can get pretty comfy!

The pies are a great addition and the bars are well stocked with everything you could want, including lots of gin. The few times I've been since discovering it have always been packed and have a great vibe. Ticket prices are great as are drink prices inside. I look forward to the next time I'm back.

L. G. A.Awesome place for watching gigs! There plenty of great bands playing there. I he stage is spacious and very close to the crowd. You don't need to miss the concert to get a beer, as the bar is at the side of the stage.
K.This place is great for live music of all kinds. Just look on there website to find out what's coming up and book the tickets at a very good price online. You can do this well in advance for example I've just booked tickets for April 2020. Brilliant night out here whether alone, as a couple, as a family or group of friends.
T. D. M.I was impressed by the food. I am not vegan but I do love vegan food for the care and complexity that chefs put into their dishes. So far, this has been the best vegan restaurant I have been too, with plenty of choice on the menu, and each plate being a tasty surprise. Strongly recommend!

D. G.Whilst they don't attract any really big names The Brook is a great venue to see lesser known touring bands and tribute acts. When it's busy it can be difficult to get served at the bar but its quirky layout with an upstairs balcony seems to lend itself to a great atmosphere.

Big plus is how close you get to the act/stage. Cloak room , merchandise and 100's of photos showing the various acts to have played there.
Please support it as housing want it turned into a gastro pub, flats, supermarket etc.

Our evening was made even better, if that's possible, when we discovered that The Brook sell pie and mash, they even had a vegetarian version with vegetarian gravy which was very tasty. A. W.The Brook is a fantastic live music venue in Southampton and, so far, the best one that I've been to in the city over the years.
It has a capacity of 600, which they cap at 550 for the comfort of their clientele, which is spread over 2 floors.
There is a small outdoor seating area down a set of steps next to the main entrance for anyone wanting to go outside and cool down or for those who wish to smoke.
The ticket booths and box office are on the immediate left and right after you enter via the main door which is firmly but fairly guarded by two cool and calm bouncers. Once inside, the bathroom and cloakroom facilities are located directly off the entrance hall which also has a flight of stairs leading up to the first floor.
In the main room on the ground floor they have a decent sized stage and the dancefloor is directly in front of it, not separated from the stage like in a lot of music venues, allowing the punters to get up close and personal with the performers. Small clusters of tables and chairs line the wall down one side of the room with a long and well stocked bar dominating the opposite wall. The back wall, which faces the stage, has a long shelf to place drinks on plus a few bar stools and the pillars surrounding the dancefloor all have shelving for drinks as well. By the end of the bar there is a set of doors leading to another flight of stairs and access to the first floor.
The upstairs area has a large balcony overlooking the dancefloor and stage with tables and chairs along all three sides. Two of the three walls are lined with comfortable seating and low tables with the third being taken up by another long and well stocked bar.
Bar prices aren't the cheapest I've come across but neither are they the most expensive. I had £2 or £3 change from £10 after buying two drinks, which isn't bad at all when compared to the 10p change from £10 after buying two drinks at another local pub. With regards to ticket prices, the amount varies depending on the act you wish to see. In my experience ticket costs have been from about £10 to around £15, which I consider very reasonable for my particular choice of bands.
Every member of their staff with whom I've had contact have been friendly, helpful, polite and efficient which, in my opinion, is important. The attitude and demeanour of the staff can be a helpful indication as to how good the venue and it's management really are, and in this instance the indication is that both are top notch.
For me, The Brook is big enough to create the charged atmosphere that you want in a live music situation but still intimate and small enough that it doesn't get stupidly crowded & crazy. I have been there on several occasions and loved it every time so I highly recommend it.
K. J.As ever I have had a great time at the Brook, however I had terrible service at the bar. Was ignored 6 times by a member of bar staff who acknowledged I was there but let me wait because I wasn't shouting at her.
I work in a football pub on match days so I know it's a hard job not made easier by people, I was polite, didn't swear or get angry for that reason but feedback is important, it nearly ruined my evening.

Couldn't hear the vocals or the lead guitar solos. Can't the band were too happy! Maybe just a blip - normally sound is good. C'mon guys sort it Out!

Amazing sound and views for the stage, a little noisy as a concert venue, sometimes ruined the atmosphere of some of the songs but they couldn't really help that I don't suppose, bit pricey on drinks but that being said me and my dad were on the same drinks all night yet every time we went to the bar (3 times) the price was different.
