Great mid-sized venue, we've attended a couple of classical music concerts and will be going to more in the future. Makes a lively evening out and the tickets are more affordable than the bigger venues. Free parking evenings and weekends in the university campus.

Excellent access for those with mobility issues. Exceptionally clean facilities. Friendly staff and in this case a hugely enjoyable performance by the Hot Club of Cowtown.

Music performance venue located in the middle of Southampton university campus. We enjoyed the sound and the ambience. Helpful students with the concert programmes were the most polite and accommodating.

A good place for entertainment.
Drinks are a little pricey for students but that's the only bad thing I could say.
The variety of shows they get is good to

As a concert hall, the Turner Sims is perfect, both acoustically (you can hear everything from everywhere) and for seating (comfortable and no bad seats anywhere. The line-up tends be a bit tier-two, which is to be expected, but there are often real gems. The bar and lounge are a bit weak - no credit cards, too small so a crush at intervals, limited range, and pre-ordered drinks are not guarded so get stolen. If you are local you probably already know you should visit regularly, and if you have to travel to get here you can book with confidence as your favourite performer will be in a great environment. COVID precautions are just lip-service so if that concerns you don't come.

This is an excellent concert venue. Big enough to get some good names performing yet not too big to be soulless or sit too far from the performance. Plenty of parking in the local University car parks within a few minutes' walk (free after 5pm weekdays and all weekend). All seats are well-tiered so every seat has a good view of the stage. Web site booking is a little clunky but this is a small local venue so doesn't have the same resources as the big outlets.

Wow! Leonard Cohen covers with beautiful, beautiful harmonies. Live music like this is one of life's necessities. Thank you so much.

Love it. Really interesting setting for Jazz. A modern venue with high ceiling, exposed brick walls and an excellent rake on the seating for good viewing. Spacious yet intimate. Nice bar area although a little more seating would help. If I didn't live an hours drive plus an hours boat trip away, I would be there every week.

A high quality music venue located on the main campus of Southampton University. The hall itself is well designed and offers both a good view and good sound from all seats. The program of concerts is varied and includes some very good artists and ensembles. There are also many opportunities to see excellent music making by students and staff from the University - usually at lunchtimes. A small bar and box office completes the offering. Parking at the University is generally poor and expensive but is at least free to patrons of the hall in the evenings (although you might be some distance from the hall itself) - the University is apparently working on improving this situation.

Fantastic small theatre for amateur plays and school speech days. Staff are wonderful and venue is clean.

The Graduation and badging ceremony venue. Very good aircon.

ABC concert was wonderful as always. From 0 - 99 we all had a great time. Our 10 year old Grandson had a great time learning the hand jive to Jingle Bells. The tiny tots had great moves as well. We look forward to the Easter Bunny.

Great concert with James Mayhew and SÔN on Sunday afternoon. Venue is good particularly when taking children as the seating is well raked and the performance area is clearly visible. Parking is free at weekends and plentiful.
My grandson enjoyed the performance, though he was a little scared at the wolf section of Peter and the Wolf. He was delighted to be a winner of one of the raffled paintings.

A friendly welcome and great acoustics in the hall itself.
Turner Sims is my favourite performing arts venue in Southampton. Located in the middle of the university grounds in Highfield, you will find it a modern comfortable venue with an excellent programme of classical, jazz, folk and world music. There is a box office, café and bar too.

Excellent venue, superb acoustics and very good bar!

The music they put on us first class. I enjoyed Beethoven here more than at the Royal Festival Hall. The jazz groups they get - Tom Barford, Nez - have really opened my eyes to jazz. I will always go to something they schedule. I'm not so sure about chamber music and the resident viola player though. But that's just me, I don't enjoy it. I did love the recent charity Kidz concert. I feel very lucky to live close enough to a world class concert hall.

Saw Steve Gadd this evening and I loved it. His performance was phenomenal in a beautiful venue and I thought that made it a bit better. I absolutely love Graham Russels that put the event on and Steve Gadd is a phenomenal session drummer and nailed it.

Lovely friendly little concert hall.
T. C.
Music venue located in the University of Southampton. Small and intimate, offering performances for all musical tastes, from classical to Jazz. frequently used by a number of Radio 3 programmes for a recording venue venue. Offer performances that are good for families and children.

Brill. Jon Sopel was great to listen to
G. H.
Great place; the venue can cope with everything from Shostakovich 10 to Dido and Aeneas. The only gripe is that whilst the disabled access is fab, sometimes the seats are sold to able bodied folk, thus causing issues with those accompanying those in wheelchairs.
R. W.
Good concert hall putting on a wide range of performances, from jazz & pop to classical, and from world-leading performers to university ensembles (which are usually extremely good). Good wheelchair access, and facilities.
R. W.
Good access for wheelchairs, good refreshments, and very helpful staff. Plenty of "disabled" parking nearby. Oh, yes, and good music too!

Enjoyed a fantastic lecture by Rainer Weiss on gravitational waves with my son. Box office were helpful and the auditorium was comfortable. Would love more from STAG.

J. S.
Great acoustic and a varied programme in a ~350 seat roon. The bar could be better and cheaper but it's definitely not the most expensive in town

Musicians love to play here. It's large enough to attract the best, but small enough to generate a lovely informal atmosphere.

A superb asset for Southampton, the Turner Sims puts on chamber music and world-class soloists, folk, jazz, and world music plus lectures and other events, eg Pascal Roge, Andy Sheppard, and The Unthanks in spring 2015. It has a pin-sharp acoustic, a new Steinway D piano and is occasionally recorded by the BBC, good access with free parking in the evening.
M. K.
