My family and I have been customers of John Kaye Optometrist for many years. It has a calm atmosphere and the staff put you at ease from the beginning. Muhammad, the Optometrist, is very professional and thorough when doing the eye testing, always explaining what each test is for. They have a vast selection of glasses to choose from, and their knowledge and help when selecting frames and lenses is welcome and much appreciated. On top of the excellent customer service and after care there is also free and convenient parking. I do recommend them to family and friends, and feel fortunate they are so local. Thank you to all the staff for their time and patience.

I have recently moved to the area and I was looking for a local opticians with parking, my Google research helped me find John Kaye opticians. I read the reviews, looked at the images and selected John Kaye, I made the right decision. I have had 3 visits to the opticians the 1st for my sight test, the second for my contact lens trial, the 3rd to have my glasses fitted and my contact lens fit checked. Each visit I have been called the day before to remind me of my appointment, I have been warmly welcomed by the lovely reception lady, I have seen both opticians. Each appointment has been a great experience with thorough checks, tests and fitting. All the staff are warm and welcoming, giving that family feel and the frames available are extremely wide ranging and of great quality. My partner and his mum have both visited in recent weeks and also had a fantastic experience. If you are looking for an opticians in Bedford, you have found the right one in John Kaye.

There are so many reasons why I recommend the excellent service of John Kaye Opticians. Muhammad and all the staff are so professional, friendly and helpful. Muhammad is patient and always very thorough while examining my eyes and I find that reassuring. He explains everything clearly and I feel the health and care of my eyesight is in very good hands. The selection of frames available is broad in style and cost and Hayley is very helpful in ensuring you are happy with your choice. I also like that I receive a telephone reminder of my appointment. The practice is all on the ground floor which is an important factor for me. It is also conveniently situated on the outskirts of Bedford with plenty of adjacent free parking and a good level paved area to safely access the practice. All my family have been looked after by John Kaye Opticians ever since it opened and I have recommended them to many people and will continue to do so. I got excellent service, help and support from John Kaye Optometrists. I had an in-depth consultation and then lots of time was spent helping me choose glasses that suited me. When I went to get them fitted extra care was taken to ensure they glasses comfortable and adjustments made where necessary. I would definitely recommend this practise.

Very pleased with my eye test which was extremely thorough. The staff are really really friendly and professional. I don’t live in the area but wanted to go to a traditional optometrist as I had been left unsatisfied with the bigger chains. Mr Merali asked many questions as well as checking the health of eyes. The fitting of my new glasses was also very thorough as was the help with choosing a frame. Lastly parking is very good, free and just a few steps away from the shop which is convenient.

I decided to move away from my usual optician as I became increasingly dissatisfied with them. Decided to go to John Kaye (very handy for me as they are just down the road). Well I am glad I did. They were really professional. Took copious amount of notes concerning my eyes so that the next time I visit they have my history there. I had a few issues which were put right really quickly. The previous optician had not history on me even though I had used them for 10 years plus. Everyone so pleasant at John Kaye. They definitely do go that extra mile to make sure that you are 100% satisfied. I saw Muhammad and Jhakir as I had contact lenses as well. Hayley is really helpful and of course so was Jess. Personalised care at its best. I have been with John Kaye for many years and can only describe the care as exceptional. As a glasses and contact lense wearer, I feel confident that the health of my eyes is treated with the highest concern especially as age related changes are starting to occur. Muhammad’s care and attention is faultless in my opinion and after very recently taking my teenage son to make the transition to contact lenses, his patience and kind manner has been much appreciated. All of the staff at the practice are professional and welcoming and I have no hesitation in recommending John Kaye, the added bonus being free parking, the bakery next door and the newsagent with post office, so much more convenient than town.

The parking is free, the eye tests very thorough as is the glasses/contact fitting. You don’t feel you are being rushed at any stage of the process and the staff are very friendly.

Really friendly and efficient practice. Very polite receptionist who called rather than texted about my upcoming appointment. Thorough examination from a friendly and professional optician with everything explained as we went along. Help with choosing new frames from lovely dispenser who even took photos of me in different frames so I could see what they would like like properly. Then when new glasses arrived (very quickly I might add) she took the time to fit them properly. Overall I would definitely recommend this opticians to everyone. As always I had a great experience at John Kaye. Everyone is so welcoming and also very professional. Three generations of my family choose to use John Kaye for our eye exams and glasses. Their optician Muhammad is so thorough when doing our exams and he actually found and explained conditions my mom and I had. I love their glasses frames as well. I really appreciate the fact that they're away from the busy town centre but still close enough. Roughly about 3 miles give or take. There's sufficient parking and a lovely little coffee shop a few doors down if you're a bit too early for your appointment. Otherwise they're happy to have you sit and wait in their waiting area. The ladies at the front desks are always ready to have a little chat with us. I definitely recommend John Kaye

I wouldn’t go anywhere else as the standard of the service cannot be bettered. Very thorough eye test and follow up eye checks were the same. The staff are very helpful and keep you up to date on delivery of glasses and contact lenses. You can virtually park outside front door which is very convenient. I highly recommend this place

Annual check up and eye tests for many years. I have had both the standard NHS tests and private enhanced tests with Muhammad and Jan before him, including prescriptions for spectacles and sun glasses. I tend to favour the more expensive varifocal light reactive lenses so the prescription lenses are quite expensive. The reason I use Kayes, apart from knowing the original owner, is their friendliness and focus on quality. The appointments are easy to arrange and always on time with the added benefit of ample easy parking. Hayley helped with my frame choice and fitting when they arrived, delivery was prompt and well within the two weeks estimated. I have also returned to the shop for glasses to be adjusted or tightened and it has been done promptly without charge. Muhammad has also helped with my screen eye strain by prescribing specific glasses for using my computer and drops for when I suffer dry eye. In summary this is a quality optician offering personal and friendly service to a high standard.

Muhammad explains everything he is doing and why throughout the examination which I found to be very helpful. Best experience i've ever had! Booked in as it had been 4 years since i'd had a test. Previously had gone to the big high street names and always found the service poor and frames over priced. This is not the case with John Kaye. Absolutely fantastic experience, the eye test was thorough and I felt well looked after, when choosing the frames I was given great advice on the shape and clear pricing on any extras I wanted for the lenses. I was told the glasses would be ready in 7-10 days, and in fact they were ready in 6! Adjustments were all free, and able to book in whenever they are needed. When i returned the second time to collect my sunglasses I felt i could do with slightly softer nose pads and they changed them for free. I would recommend if you live in Bedford or the surrounding areas to come to this optician. They really look after you, there is no pressure to buy anything, no confusing deals or hidden costs. Just genuine top quality service from lovely individuals, and quality glasses/sunglasses to boot! I will be returning every year from now on.

An extremely professional and kind opticians. i received a first class service having my eyes tested. All was explained clearly and i was even offered extra tests [ out side the standard eye test] that i took to be secure in that my eyes were well and healthy. My glasses arrived quickly and fitting was delivered in a friendly, caring (and Covid cautious) environment . I have had problems with eye tests at other establishments in the past and this is why i now go to this opticians as i know they have my eyes and wellbeing as a priority and nothing is too much trouble for them. I recently experienced some problems with my glasses and it was no trouble. They brought me back in and retested my eyes immediately, following through with a replacement prescription. I can recommend them very highly and would not dream of going anywhere else now or in the future. The staff are fabulous and the young man who owns the business is a gentleman and a real pleasure to deal with. This is an outstanding Optometrist practice.

I thoroughly recommend the exemplary Mr Merali and his highly professional staff at John Kaye Optometrist in Putnoe. They are all first-class professionals in every sense of the word. Not only are they incredibly competent in everything they do, but they are friendly, helpful and understanding. They phoned the day before my appointment to remind me. Most companies text or email. The car park next to Putnoe Heights is the closest, but the one next to the post office on Putnoe Street isn't too far away.
