First time I have been to Specsavers in Bedford and it was a very positive experience. All the staff were friendly and helpful with no feeling of being rushed. The glasses fit perfectly and they give me very good vision. Purchased two pairs of glasses and some Contacts. Haven’t tried on the contacts as they have only just arrived in the mail but every Confidence they will also be very good as the glasses.

I recently had to go for an eye test and some new glasses and was worried about a problem with my left eye. I paid for an enhanced test and they all took extra time looking for any problems thankfully apart from a sty there were none. I was recommended a mask and some eye drops which cleared it up in two weeks and also got some new glasses and a spare. All the staff were knowledgable and friendly. It's never cheap getting new glasses etc I do hope costs are kept to an appropriate level as some excessive charging in my line of work is rampant at the moment. But I'm comfortable the group would not be in this group. Well done girls and guys at Bedford

Took my wife there and was surprised how many people work in there. A very busy shop with lots of people waiting. Professionally run and our sales girl Ruth was friendly and a joy to deal with. Prices were very reasonable. We will probably stick with this company after not so good experiences with boots.

Went to the Bedford branch on Wednesday morning and experienced such good customer service from every team member (think I saw 4 people in total -check in, eye screening, optometrist and glasses selection - sorry awful at remembering names) who all worked seamlessly to help me out with the eye test and new pairs of glasses. Eventhough the store was busy, they were all really helpful, friendly and welcoming. Thank you.

** Please Read This ** Last week I visited this place by referral from the NHS. In the middle of the check I was told if I'm happy to pay extra money and they will do this and that which was fine for me as I wanted to have my eyes checked perfectly. After the entire check I was prescribed some medication but the big surprise was they asked me to pay the total cost of the check which sounds strange for me. The lady said this is what comes out in the screen of the PC and when I reminded them I have NHS referral they seemed to start to panic and then after they went back to their supervisor they said OK just pay the extra money you agreed during the check. When I asked what was done as an extra and can I see some results printed to me they started to panic again and they said I have to ask for this through the website. Eventually I paid the extra money but my advice to everyone don't accept to pay anything extra as they will do the same check and try to drain your money. The law in this country requires business places to be clear with their customers regarding the service they provide for money and in my case I felt I'm paying for something which was not made clear for me. If you are asking why i give them 5 star thats because they seemed to me very professional and kind 😊.

This was my first time using Specsavers usually going to Boots. I wear distance glasses and had, unfortunately, sat on them. I’d tried to wear an old pair but was struggling. I went to Boots initially however they were really short on staff so couldn’t help me in my emergency! I popped into Specsavers and was given an appointment the following day. I had my Boots prescription and went along for the appointment. The service was amazing. The member of staff who helped me choose, select lenses and measure for fitting was so lovely. She had a great pair of Kylie glasses and I ended up buying two of the same. The glasses case were sparkly, so that sold them to me. But the best bits - two pairs for £150 plus free delivery. I ordered on Tuesday - they were here on Friday. AMAZING. And they fit beautifully. Love them. Thank you so much. I’ll be back!

I thought I had a contact lens stuck under my top eyelid - I met with Chanel in the Bedford branch who was absolutely brilliant explaining and gently investigating my eye throughly and then diagnosing me with ‘dry eye’ which caused the discomfort. Prescribed eyedrops and within 48 hours my eye is hugely more comfortable. I recommend Chanel as she has the right friendly but professional personality.

Had a sudden onset problem with one of my eyes. Phoned the Community Urgent Eye Care Service on two occasions who said my symptoms weren't anything to worry about but they eventually arranged an appointment with Specsavers. Dharshana gave it a thorough examination and found a torn retina and immediately referred me to hospital for emergency treatment. Couldn't have hoped for better care. Really grateful.

Great shop and service but their staff need to be consistent: my appointment was cancelled on the spot by one optician because I forgot my contacts (they could have given me a spare pair) and when I rebooked, the (different) optician didn't even need my contacts to change the prescription even though I brough them so I waited another 2 weeks for nothing? Be consistent please and problem solve rather than cancelling appointments needlessly.

The staff here are extremely helpful and always friendly. For one of the recent appointments I had a baby in a buggy with me and a member of staff carried the buggy downstairs for me while I carried the baby and someone else helped back up the stairs. I did have a bit of a wait for my appointment however I could see that it was a very busy day and other times I've only had to wait a couple of minutes. The staff will always answer whatever questions you have.

They replaced the lenses in 2 of my Specsavers frames but refused to replace lenses in the 3rd rimless pair 'because it was too difficult'. Amazing, considering that they make lenses specifically for that frame, and another online company (Lensology) has managed to replace them just fine!

I took my daughter's aged 6 and 4 here to have their eyes tested. My eldest saw Jude who was absolutely fantastic with her and really made her feel at ease. I took my youngest to have an eye test but unfortunately not with Jude. The optician wasn't as natural with her as Jude and she got quite distressed. I brought her back for a second opinion with Jude and needless to say he was fantastic. He really made us feel at ease and answered all our queries and addressed our concerns. Plus he made my youngest feel at ease and completely reassured her. Our faith was again restored and I could not recommend Jude enough. He was fabulous with my daughter's and even made a courtesy call at the end of the day to us in case we had any questions. Very competent and lovely optician who was fantastic with my daughter's!

Had some eye symptoms and received a amazingly thorough check-up here, including a new optical coherence tomography scan (the OCT costs an additional £10). The staff were charming and explained everything well, especially the optometrist who was delightful and very keen to ensure that my eyes were healthy. I will also return here when I need new glasses as I have always had good service and good value glasses and contact lenses.

Good service. Especially recommend for visits with children. Children can have eye test, 2 pair of glasses and insurance for one of them on NHS. Online booking much better than vision express. Sometimes waiting takes a bit long in peak times but still not too bad. I've seen hearing screening facilities on site as well.

I want to say just how helpful Specsavers Bedford have been in dealing with a contact lens delivery which went astray. Roxy was brilliant, got a pair of lenses and bottle of solution out in the post for me. She got me in for an eye test and contact lens check really quickly and left notes explaining the situation. Rasheena Paul was a fantastic optometrist, both friendly and thorough despite working under different circumstances with Covid. All the staff with attentive and helpful even though clearly busy. I took my 3 year old for an eye test. She was nervous and had to have eye drops (which she said hurt her) It was incredibly traumatic for her. However not only were the reception staff kind and caring towards. Making an extra effort to find her colouring sheets of Disney princesses. The actual optician was amazing. She made it fun for her. I love this place, in the 13+ years I've been going, I've seen a lot of changes. I use Specsavers LensMail (I wear my contacts 98% of the time) which means I have to visit more often than just for sight test & glasses. The staff are pleasant, polite & helpful. I had some holes in my retina - since birth & sounds worse than it is - but only picked up by ophthalmologist @ this Specsavers. They were very quick in sending me to the eye clinic & they've kept a look at it ever since. I have had to go away a lot in the last 3 years, this specsavers & especially the contact lenses' department, have been so accommodating. With moving appointments around, supplying me with lenses (when I lose them!), giving out the odd free case etc. The glasses are OK - good choice of designer, not so much choice in the lower cost pairs & pairs for petite - although, when I first started using this branch there was no petite for adults & my first maybe 8-10 pairs of glasses had to be childrens' ones - Even less choice! So, a welcome change of petite glasses. Still, the choice IS lacking somewhat & could be improved, even though I u understand it is a small branch. It's for this reason & the reason that it is now almost impossible to speak to the branch by phone anymore (calls diverted to central call centre) that I'm taking one ☆ off. The foot traffic has increased lots in my 19 years of being in Bedford, the popularity of the store has increased, they offer latest tech for fittings, tests & now also the hearing department. Unfortunately, the store itself, imho, has not kept up well with this amount of clients. It looks tired, is always packed to standing room & again, not much choice for glasses/displays. I'm unsure whether this store can expand or not, considering how many people are there at different times of a day, as I pass store a lot, & when there it really is Full... they certainly have a lot of custom & this has grown. It would be nice to see the practice/branch grow too, get a make-over, possibly open a site nearby to handle just the hearing/contact lenses side of things. Like I said, I think it would benefit & bring in even more custom & it would keep its loyal customers. On that note, I am & will continue to be a loyal customer, but I have noticed that the staff turnover now, in the last 5-8 years, is ridiculously quick, I used to see the same staff members all the time, got to know them, now they do not stay long & are also all very young. It seems, from speaking to staff in recent years, that, outside of actual ophthalmologists, that this is just a temperature job. I'm not saying they are not polite, but their knowledge & experience especially when helping to choose frames, or when I'm asking questions, is abundantly & sadly lacking. I do understand why people would choose to go online/get help elsewhere. I would Always see the optician in person, always get my advice from the optician there & where it's possible choose frames in person, as I think many would, because our eyesight is precious & I know I will continue to want that personal touch & face to face treatment, advice etc. A very grateful & in the most, happy customer. Just think store could benefit from few tweaks & suggestions mentioned above. I'll still be using this store :)

I returned home from my trip abroad and realised I had left my glasses which I wear everyday onboard the plane , I had booked an eye test online for Saturday through the website , went in and was approached by one of the receptionists to whom I explained I had only gotten my glasses a year and a half ago from Asda in stevenage and she quickly offered to call them instead of me paying for a eye test to see if she could locate my original prescription , she battled to contact them to which I said I would try , I managed to get through to a lady by the name of Georgina who refused to send me my prescription and was unwilling to help , I then was helped by Sarah Ward at specsavers Bedford who called again re-requesting my information from the same lady Georgina who was even unpleasantly rude to her , she managed to get them to send them my details with my permission which I had already tried to do on my own originally, never the less while we waited on those she helped me pick out two frames on their special on 2 for 1 , made sure they suited my face and she then quickly processed the order , she stated she would note that i needed them urgently for work and today!!! 2 working days later i have just picked up both pairs of my glasses and they are perfect!!! I cannot commend Sarah & specsavers enough for the level of service they have provided me with and i will be sure to go back to them!!! Thank you Sarah & to all the helpful staff at Bedford for all of your help!!! You have literally made my week.

So well organised and arranged,from the moment you enter the door greeted and seated,your details entered on the the computer and then escorted through the various examinations with detailed explanations I could not wish for better service.very pleased with the new spectacles. But more than that I have suffered from severe conjuctivitus which has plagued my life I described all this to the final prescribing optician.She prescribed a brand of cleansing cream and Hycosan Extra eye drops I can't believe after all these years the difference it's made to my life.All the Hospital who I am under prescribed alternate hot and cold pads finally my next birthday will be my EIGHTY FIVE. Thank everyone at Specs avers for making my final time allowed pain and discomfort free. Bless you all, with great respect.

I have always used Specsavers to carry out my eye tests and to also supply a great selection of frames from all of the major manufacturers. They have a quick turn around on all eye prescription lenses. I think you would struggle to find a better selection of frames that are available from budget to very prestigious manufacturers.

Luckily I was only picking up a re-glazing, but with all the confusion, still took 2 weeks with 3 trips into Bedford (with a 2 hour wait for 2 of the trips) , which wasn't my idea of fun, but at least they will re-glaze now days, years ago they said they couldn't, and it's still the same two pairs of frames I have now. So instead of £100 (BOGOF) , it cost me £64.

Went for my eye test booked time by specsavers. When you get there in plenty of time you end up 20mins later than time booked. Make sure you allow plenty of time for parking or when away from work. Eye test was fine.

Fantastic experience on 5th June 2017 Rang them 1st thing as my fathers vision in.one eye was distorted. The lady who answered phone was really efficient took all details spoke to an optican and booked us an emergency appointment that morning. My father has oxygen on exertion they explained he would have to use stairs as the room they use for disababities was being used. My father did not mind that he was grateful they saw him. Every single person we met at specsavers and in.particular the optician (Rasheena Paul) were kind understanding extremely helpul attentive and compassionate.
