Great service at Optical Express. All the staff that dealt with me were very pleasant and professional (too many to name). Each process was smooth from initial consultation, to the surgery day to follow up appointments. The price may seem a lot but after research it was similar across most practices offering the service. I had my surgery nearly a week ago now and I am so happy I went through with it, i was a bit apprehensive about it, as it's my eyes but after my initial consultation all my fears were gone. The staff and care are so excellent and accommodating, i cannot praise them enough. There happened to be a flood on the day of my surgery and the clinic called to tell me they are doing everything they can to get it back up and running. By the time i got to belfast ( I came from Dublin ) the clinic was back to normal, you wouldn't have known that just a few hours ago the place was up to your knees in water. The surgery itself is very short and painless, and I could see within a few hours. Your a bit sore for about 4/5 hours and light sensitive.

Had my eyes done on thursday and wow the difference already is brilliant even the next day. Theres a bit of a wait before the surgery so i suggest bring a pillow and snacks lol honestly tho the staff are just brilliant so friendly and reassuring the surgent himself is very nice he made me feel at ease and the surgery itself thankfully u do not feel a single thing theres a few hours after your eyes are sore but so worth it. My experience at optical express, I couldn't but praise them highly enough, From the first meeting to the surgery the after care I couldn't give them enough star Ratings, what I will say is you, whoever you may be need to want to have the procedure done, what I mean is, that you need to be In that frame of mind I'm doing this and it will happen for you, I don't need glasses anymore, my eyes are better than 20/20 which is perfect vision. Just had my surgery two days ago on Sunday. I really can't speak highly enough of the staff who were welcoming, friendly, reassuring and informative from the moment I walked in for my consult. Special thanks to Stacey who took care of the scans at my initial consultation, you were an absolute pleasure to deal with, it felt like chatting with an old friend. The procedure was explained perfectly, the financial options laid out very clearly with a breadth to suit many different circumstances and I was so happy to be able to proceed. I was in the clinic on the day of my procedure for less than two hours. The surgeon, Danny, was lovely and put me at ease right away, I'm naturally laid back anyway but I can imagine for those that aren't that way inclined, he would do wonders for your nerves. The procedure was quick, painless and before I knew it, I was sat in the room next door having my aftercare explained with great clarity. I'm now two days post-procedure and my vision is incredible, better than 20/20 with some dryness left over which is to be expected and nothing that can't be managed with the effective aftercare and drops provided to me. If you're thinking about it, DO IT! It's already the best thing I have ever done. Having worn glasses/lenses for sixteen years, I no longer have to think about them and I'll be able to enjoy my wedding day glasses/lenses free. Thanks to all the team at Optical Express Belfast. Easily the best choice I have ever made to have laser eye surgery. I had put it off for so many years through not fully understanding the process and a little bit of fear! I couldn't recommend Optical Express enough for laser eye surgery, I was extremely nervous about getting it done and it's the best decision I've ever made! I was quite nervous to get laser eye surgery in case it didn’t work or if anything sinister happened. I got my surgery on October 17th and haven’t looked back! My eyesight is better than 20/20 vision according to the opticians who are also really welcoming and friendly. The staff will make you feel welcome and are very supportive and don’t rush you or pressure you into making any decisions. My eyesight prior to surgery was awful (prescription was -5 on both eyes) and now it’s unreal. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is on the fence on doing it or not :)

This was such a big decision as I was so nervous about the whole thing, I was not disappointed at all. The process was so laid back yet professional with me aware at every stage (no matter how big or small) what was happening. The team where the reason for this, the girls with me explained everything and worked well with me and have genuine care for their patients. The procedure itself was scary, but I had no need to be scared, not one bit of pain felt and it was quick. I followed the advice and went home to sleep for a while with the lovely googles given (surprisingly comfortable) and used my drops. I had a minor hiccup where my eyelid became inflamed but the aftercare cannot be faulted and my vision is better than 2020... I didn't expect this good. Just been for a consultation recently and I’m delighted to be found suitable for Lens surgery! I can not fault anything from this store, from entering until I left. On arrival I was given a menu to pick some teas and coffees etc from, I had a great chat with Christine as she helped fill in my questionnaire. I was then escorted upstairs by Stacey who took me through all of my scans and explained the different procedures expertly and answered any questions I had. She was very nice very friendly and very helpful and talked me through everything I needed to know about my eye test. I went to Optical express for a free consultation and didn't really think anything would come of it. I never imagined I would be in a position to get laser eye surgery for a number of reasons. On my first day I was greeted by Jenny who took me through the inital part of the consultation and I met a lot of the other people who worked there, including Stacey who brought me through the eye tests/Scans, Marry P who was my Refractive Optometrist, and Donna who I could call up anytime I needed. So many more people who I cannot remember names but they were all friendly and welcoming. We booked my date for laser eye surgery and between the consultation and surgery I had been in contact with them a few times to ensure all was well. The surgery itself was explained well in the information pack I received during my consultation and I got to meet my surgeon, Mr Waseem A, who was very professional and friendly, and ask anything I wanted. The surgery itself involved a few people, all who were warm and welcoming and excited for me to be able to see without glasses. After the first eye it was a little daunting because its such a strange experience (it didnt hurt at all). The people in the theatre could tell I was a little overwhelmed and paused to have a chat to see if they could help. The lady who spoke to me was kind and helped put my mind at rest and the surgeon also was reassuring me. Now I've just had laser eye surgery and a follow up appointment to check all is good and I have 20/20 vision not even 24 hours after my surgery. I cannot thank their team enough, amazing customer service and well worth every penny. Thank you :D Edit: April 2021 Over a year on and I still have 20/20 vision. The aftercare from the team was amazing. Cannot rate it high enough!

After my Mom sending me a link to my mobile, I applied for a free consultation for laser eye surgery with Optical Express. The staff were very friendly and helpful. After a number of eye tests, I was pleased to hear I was eligible for lasik which is a type of laser eye surgery that takes you less time to recover from. I wanted to get the surgery done about March but Jenny was persuading me to get it done sooner. I was reluctant to put down a deposit especially early in December coming up to Christmas but I did pay a deposit & the time December 28th came around my surgery was completed. One of the aftercare appointments, I was not to happy about because I was a minute or two late coming from work, my mother was contacted. I then came in and a comment was made that I was back at work too soon. Before I agreed to get the eye surgery done, Jenny told me that I could go into work next day as I said I was unable to get time off during short notice. Hence the reason I initially wanted the surgery in March so I could book time off work and be more prepared for recovery. I am v glad that I had the surgery done as now I have better than 20/20 vision. It is the best thing I done for myself. However, I would of liked to have been more prepared & informed with regards to recovery time.

I went to OE to get new glasses. They were able to use a prescription I had done in my country, which was very handy, and Jenny was lovely. I am not giving 5 stars only because there was an issue with the first version of the glasses that should have been flagged and solved by the lab right away, but the customer service is on point! I gave this opticians a bad report in the past. After my experience in Connswater but I was in a bad state mentally at that time. I also had an issue with a last minute booking in the past on the city centre branch a few months back. But I gave them a second chance today. I got the same optician, Fionnuala I misjudged her the first time, but she is actually lovely. The optical technician was also very helpful. I was also asked about considering laser or contact lenses. Explained my trauma with contact lenses in the past etc. I felt glasses are an attractive accessory the optician agreed. I just feel more time was spent with me today better and store much bigger to browse glasses etc.

A week after both of my eye lenses replacement surgery, through the Belfast store, and I am thrilled with the outcome. It’s like winding the clock back 40 years to before I needed to where glasses which were at +6.25 dioptres, a relatively strong prescription. The Staff, Nurses, Optometrist and Surgeon are and have been most though and professional in their assessment and delivery of my eye care. The procedure took less than 15 min per eye and was less dramatic than going to the dentist, with minimal discomfort afterwards. I now see better than 20/20, a truly life changing experience.

Last used Optical Express when I resided back in Scotland. Today Saturday 20th January I decided to get the 06:38am train to Belfast Great Victoria Street, and toddle along to 32 Donegall Place Optical Express Venue. Had no pre-arranged appointment, but was made very welcome, By Staff Member Elyssa, and her Manager, who after a few moments, managed to fit me in for a complete eye examination, Given by a very experienced Optometrist, who said fitting me in wasn't a bother. A large bright inviting branch. Far better than other's like Specsavers, Derry, which is a pokey hole of a place, a nightmare the last time I visited Specsavers. I knew from previous experience Optical Express were the better option. Hence the reason I made the long return journey down to Belfast from the North West. Once my Optometrists had completed his assessment, It was merely a matter to select suitable frames, and I had Elyssa measure me up for frame suitability. I am told My new Spectacles could be ready within 7 - 10 days, which is really good. Overall. I can honestly recommend Optical Express, Belfast. Great Staff Attitude, supported by a lovely lady manager, who made everything possible, despite my turning up unannounced today. Thank you to everyone concerned. Maybe Next Time I will have that coffee after-all! Returned to Optical Express 32 Donegal Pl, Belfast. On Friday 25th January 2019. Anna the former manager moved back to London. Optical Express no longer do coffee for customers, who travel long distances. Had I known this beforehand Instead of turning up 40 minutes early. I could've went to a coffee shop and had a decent cup of coffee. Before spending 2 hours in Optical Express. The Optometrist Catherine stood out as did Jenny. Both friendly and helpful. But I felt this shop has lost The Sparkle that Manageress Anna injected into the place. I left Londonderry at 12:30pm arrived for appointment at 15:40pm It was 17:30pm before I was able to leave this shop. Arrived back in Derry Londonderry Railway Station at 20:30pm So quite a long drawn out day, On arrival for my appointment A young male sales rep was more interested to learn why I travelled so far to Optical Express. Had he paid attention to Optical Express branch locations, he would have known there are no Optical Express branches outside of Belfast. When my glasses, are ready in 14 days time. Methinks Ah'll have my new glasses sent via post. I can't go through such a long journey again. When my next eye test is due in 12 months time. I will look again for a Optometrist within 30 minutes of my home address. But it won't be Specsavers in Derry. I refuse to go back to poor eye testing. A Shame so much has changed at Optical Express Donegal Place Shop. In my case it is quite wasteful buying add ons or expensive frames. Until my cataract is dealt with. I had to ask for a paper copy of my prescription. This should automatically be provided as the law states a copy of the new prescription must be provided. That way, should I lose my glasses I can simply order a replacement pair online for a reasonable fee.

Switched on my computer at work this morning, took one look at the screen and realised that there was something wrong with my sight. Immediately panicked and phoned Optical Express and spoke to Rose. She got me an appointment sorted and I was in the waiting room within fifteen minutes. After preliminary tests I spoke with Mary the Optometrist and found out I had a slight case of Central Serous Retinopathy that will likely clear up by itself but they referred me to an NHS specialist just in case. Talk about a relief... my mind is now at ease and I couldn't recommend the team at Optical Express highly enough. In fact having found out my prescription has changed I'll be calling again tomorrow to get some new frames and lenses from these lovely people.

I had lens replacement surgery yesterday and the treatment I had was second to none. From the moment I walked into reception until the time I walked out about 3 hours later I was treated with so much care and respect by every member of staff I had contact with (about 8 or 9 different people). The aftercare has been exceptional so far and I am sure it will continue. My eyes are feeling better with every hour that passes and already my vision is so much better than it was 36 hours ago. Great experience.
