Highly recommend Optilase for anyone that is thinking about laser eye surgery. My experience was fantastic from the consultation to the after surgery check up. Luke and Megan at reception were great in making me feel less nervous about the surgery. The aftercare team was fantastic also. My vision is so clear and it is only gonna get better. Very pleasant experience throughout the the whole process from the call after I registered interest online to the consultation in Derry, the lady there was extremely helpful and informing. The second consultation in Belfast was the same with all information given in a very helpful manner. The procedure was then carried out just 2 weeks later and all staff were very nice and understanding of how nerve wracking it can be. The procedure itself was painless and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions of my life. I now have better than 20/20 vision and no longer have to worry about glasses or contact lenses. I just wish I’d did it years ago! The after care is also very good with plenty of advice and further check up appointments. Would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of having laser surgery done.

I'm just after getting lasik done 5 days ago. It's great to be able to see without my glasses. I'm really glad that I decided to go ahead with the procedure. Brilliant from start to finish! The staff were really helpful and happy to answer any questions I had. Had my surgery at 18.15, went straight to bed and by the next morning had perfect 20/20 vision. The initial discomfort only lasted about two hours and was manageable with paracetamol. I had a -7 glasses prescription, this was single best thing I have ever done. 100% recommend.

Amazing clinic and friendly staff. Got my eyes done in 20 minutes and big thanks to all involved. One thing to mention is that you need to take minimum 1 week of work if working with computer all day. Also, make sure to ask for the best eye drops to avoid eye dryness.

I underwent PRK surgery in December '21. Staff were very professional and knowledgeable. The procedure itself was quick and painless. I am only deducting one star because I appear to have developed dry eyes since my procedure which has required regular eye drops but my vision is unaffected by this. From start to finish Optilase made the whole experience of getting laser eye surgery seemless. From my first consultation, right the way through the process I felt prepared, safe and well looked after. Both clinics I attended, Newry and Belfast were great, the staff were very helpful and friendly. I had an amazing experience with Optilase Belfast from the start right through to aftercare. The team are so friendly and professional, especially Reid, who provided continuity of care from the first time we met. Reid went above and beyond to ease the nerves of myself and another customer who was getting PRK on the same day, I can’t thank him enough. Getting to meet with Dr Jain before the procedure was extremely helpful as I did have a few questions and there was no pressure at all to go through with the surgery at any point. The surgery itself is very quick and painless so my advice is to just go for it! I had a bit of a mishap 4 weeks after my surgery which resulted in a torn cornea and Optilase were there for me the whole time. They provided additional aftercare via extra appointments and phone consultations to ensure it healed properly, it’s increasingly rare to get that kind of service these days. I can’t thank Optilase Belfast enough for giving me HD vision!

Completely worth the money, no more having to deal with steaming up glasses/ losing my glasses or fighting with contact lenses. Everything was thoroughly explained to me and the receptionists were always welcoming and friendly for every appointment/check up I had. Before Optilase I had been wearing glasses for 31yrs (I’m 40 now) and was pretty much blind without them - I was -7 in one eye and -8 in the other. I’d always wanted to get lasered but never got around to it however COVID was the final straw as just couldn’t put up with steamed up glasses and not being able to see in shops due to masks anymore. Could sing Optilase’s praise enough. Staff were great throughout and they really looked after me before, during abs after the op. Treatment took about 15mins and I walked out of there with pretty much perfect vision, I got a whole lot of warning about how tough recovery was going to be but I had no issues. I had surgery in the morning and as per advise spent the rest of the day in bed with my eyes closed as much as possible, the next day was grand. Day 4 was only “bad” day which was really just dry eyes, this issue disappeared the next day when they took out the contact lens “bandage”. Few post op appointments to monitor progress after around 4 months I got discharged with both eyes better than 20:20. As someone who couldn’t see in the morning before I got my glasses on and had a really hard time going swimming etc when I couldn’t have them on me this has been nothing short of life changing. My only regret is I didn’t bite the bullet and get this done earlier. Checked around a few places and Optilase also one of the best prices plus I got interest free credit so didn’t have to splash out all at once. Brilliant service, brilliant people, brilliant result. You have my thanks!!!!

Absolutely amazing service from the whole team at Optilase Belfast! They all looked after me very well from the initial consultation (at Optilase in Derry), to my Pre-Consultation with my surgeon Dr. Kantilal Jain, to my LASIK procedure and also with my aftercare. All members of the team from reception, to the optometrists, to all the surgical staff, were all very friendly, kind, accommodating and able to answer any question's that I had. They make you feel very relaxed and comfortable the entire process! I had the LASIK procedure with them which was very quick and completely pain-free! They took their time to make sure I was completely comfortable the entire procedure and explained everything to me very well during it. I had no one available to collect me from the clinic after the procedure as I had travelled to Belfast to have it done, so I signed a self discharge waiver and they called and booked a taxi for me to get back to my hotel. A friendly member of staff (I can't remember his name) kindly walked me from the clinic around the corner and up a street to where my taxi was waiting to make sure I got to it safely, which I was more than thankful for as my vision was slightly blurry. The procedure was an immediate success, that evening after I had a sleep for a couple of hours I woke up to no discomfort, no blurriness and absolutely crystal clear vision! This was further confirmed the next morning at my 1 day checkup that I had attained at a minimum 20/20 vision and all signs were pointing towards my vision greatly improving even further! Thank you Dr. Jain! I am so thankful to all members of the team for the amazing service and treatment they provided me with! I cannot thank you enough! I am forever grateful! Got Lasek (PRK) with them about six months ago. I initially had some irregularity on my scan so they waited an extra six months to make absolutely sure it was safe before going through with it. Optilase Clinic was my first choice when it came to laser eye surgery. I have read all the reviews and was pleased to see how happy people were with the service and quality of treatments. I must admit the main factor that attracted me to Optilase was lifetime garantee which is, in my opinion, very important and necessary when you are getting someting as important as your eye sight done. The experience was great, I did not feel pressured at any stage leading up to the surgery, everyone were very understanding of hesitations I had And I was encouraged on many occasions to take my time and think what was best for me. One thing that I have to say, that might come up as a negative is the meeting with the surgeon felt very rushed as I believe he was in between surgeries, so you must be prepared in advance with any questions you may have, as I was not prepared at all and thought we were going to discuss the treatment options. I did feel overwhelmed as majority of that meeting was spend covering all the possible risks. But in saying that the girls at receptions especially Rachel were very re-assuring and offered to schedule another meeting or a call with the surgeon so again my concerns were acknowledged and customer service has exeeded expectations. The surgery day went good and I must thank Joanne for taking very good care of me when I was too nervous in the surgery and for holding my hand. I was able to see very well that same evening and the post-op appoiment confirmed that I do infact have better than 20/20 vision! So all in all I am very happy with Optilase and I would be reccomending everyone to go for it!

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was about 3 years of age, I’m now nearly 27! Short sighted with an astigmatism, I wouldn’t even have gotten out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the toilet without my glasses! I gave up on contact lenses years ago unless I was heading somewhere ‘special’ and had to make an effort. I own a bakery so you can imagine how annoying wearing glasses is, from buttercream to brownie batter you name it, it was on my glasses! Sounds like the dream, but after a while it gets pretty annoying! I bit the bullet and booked a consultation with Optilase after a friend recommended it. For years I’d thought about it, knew family members/family friends that had it but was always too afraid.. from the moment I first spoke with Reid on the phone, I was so settled about the thought of laser eye surgery. I made my way down to Belfast for my consultation, met with Anthony and he was more than thorough explaining exactly which procedure I’d have, recover, what to expect and so on. I booked my surgery at the consultation and had LASIK surgery on the 9th of December 2021. I had a pre-surgery consultation with my surgeon and the team to confirm the results from my consultation. It was so nice to get to meet the team that would be with me the day of surgery. From the minute I sat up in the chair I couldn’t believe what I could actually see without ANYTHING. No contact lenses, no glasses. I’d never ever in my life experienced it and it was priceless. Throughout the surgery every single step was explained, I was told what was going to happen next and honestly, there was no discomfort, pain, absolutely nothing! Even afterwards, I was told I’d expect a feeling like I’d an eyelash in my eye. This was the case, but after drops and a few hours sleep I was seeing more than I’d ever seen. It’s not even painful, just a little annoying! Before booking my consultation I read so many of these Google reviews saying ‘I just wish I’d done it sooner’ and honestly, now I know why! I can’t thank Optilase enough for everything they’ve done for me, even the post op appointments. I now have BETTER than 20/20 vision..

UPDATE Feb 2022: After 6/7 months, I have been told I have 20/10 vision which exceeded my expectations entirely! Such care goes into the eye tests and each step and outcome is explained so clearly! For day to day hobbies of mine, like horse riding and mountain biking, I cannot describe how great it feels to not be wearing contacts or glasses! Definitely would recommend the Belfast team in a heartbeat. -- What can I say, aside from the surgery being a success and changing my daily day to day even in a short space of time, their customer service is top class! I have had vaguely formed thoughts about getting laser eye surgery for a long time. During the COVID19 pandemic I got tired of dealing with my glasses fogging up while wearing PPE. I wanted to get it all done before university started again, and Optilase made that happen. The procedure was performed in August and a week later I had pretty much recovered. Assessment: ☆☆☆☆ free consultation, easy to get an appointment compared to Cathedral Eye Clinic. Optilase opticians carried out a thorough assessment explaining my options and what would be best for me. The opticians were great and answered any questions I had throughout. What I didn't love was that Optilase asked me for a decision immediately after my first consultation, so I ended up paying a deposit while still not really being sure. So be prepared to say you need some time to think. Treatments available: PRK or LASIK. SMILE is not offered by Optilase but is an option at Cathedral Eye Clinic. I wanted to consult with the latter as well but it was difficult to get an appointment with them in the timeframe I needed. I would recommend consulting with a few different clinics, though I didn't myself and it worked out fine! As I take part in contact sports and am a student with plenty of time to recover, PRK was the best option for me. If you need the shortest recovery possible, LASIK at Optilase is a good option. If your corneas are too thin for LASIK then explore SMILE. In terms of results and complications, all three are similar and LASIK is perfectly suitable for most. Price: ☆☆☆☆☆ competitive, probably the best out of the clinics available in Belfast. You pay a small deposit to secure your slot and then in the days leading up to the surgery you pay the total. Financing options are available. Fees are paid per eye. There is a student discount of about 10%. There is a referral scheme which gets you £500 off for being referred by another Optilase patient, but the two discounts cannot be stacked. The procedure: ☆☆☆☆☆ Dr G is an experienced surgeon and has the personality of one, which is to say honest, professional and busy. Keep your expectations realistic and you won't have any issues, that goes for the procedure as a whole. The operating room staff at Optilase were excellent and reassured me throughout. Anaesthesia consisted of drops which worked well. I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience! Recovery: you will need someone to pick you up as you won't be able to drive afterwards. The first few hours were fine due to anaesthetic drops but by nighttime there was quite a lot of discomfort. The first 3 days consisted of constant tears and pain, although I personally didn't require anything more than paracetamol and didn't have to use the extra anaesthetic drops I was given for breakthrough pain. By day 3 I was much better and was basically able to do anything (aside from driving) just wearing my sunglasses. By the end of the week I was fine to go out without sunglasses. There is a strict regime of eyedrops to follow for 6 weeks after the procedure. Vision: ☆☆☆☆☆ for the first few weeks I experienced intermittent blurriness and dry eyes, which could be quite painful in the morning (keep eyedrops next to your bed for first thing in the morning!). My vision was much improved but still only about 20/40. By the 3 month follow up I had better than 20/20 vision and my eyes were much less dry (still requiring occasional drops, although my eyes were dry before the surgery as well). I'm delighted with the result, life is just so much easier now! Communication: ☆☆☆☆☆ I found Optilase reception staff very pleasant and friendly. I didn't have any issues getting in contact with them, although I didn't have any complications or need to contact them out of hours. Overall: ☆☆☆☆☆ I had a great experience at Optilase. Dr G and Optilase staff made it so easy for me, and I will benefit from the wonderful results for many years to come. If you're a young person with a stable prescription, I highly recommend this life changing procedure!

I had the best initial consultation with Anthony of Optilase Belfast yesterday. After wanting Lazer Eye Surgery for 15+ years I'm finally going for it and I couldn't be in better hands for it. My biggest fear was genuinely something happening during the procedure that meant that I would lose my sight but after an amazing consultation, all my nerves are gone with all my questions answers and now I'm so so excited! I'm now 2 months post-op LASIK and have to say it's certainly the best decision I've made. It improves so many facets of life that you never think off, things like wearing headphones with glasses and them digging in to the side of your head, or swimming underwater but can't see 2 feet in front of you and especially not having to re-adjust the glasses on your face an insufferable amount of times a day, but thats just the tip of the iceberg. For my surgery, having -1.5 left eye and -1.75 right eye, it cost £2920. The financial positives are clear, the initial payment may seem intimidating but not only is it cheaper in the long run, with the finance options optilase provide and the life-time guarantee for touch ups and post-op care costs being largely covered, it's a complete non-issue, if money is the problem then glasses are the wrong way to go in every way. But the most important thing for this review is how trust-worthy Optilase and it's staff are and for me its clear they're 100% dependable, I'm a special case where I take a multitude of powerful medications that directly impacts the healing process, and I was made fully aware of risks and potential outcomes, nothing was hidden from me for the sake of money as some may believe. They had no issue answering questions I had regarding my case, I sent an email and 2 days later received a phone call from one of the doctors to talk thorough my concerns . At every step the staff was professional and caring, making sure I understood all that would happen and my role in the process. And since we're in the midst of COVID I was very pleased to see their strict adherence to guidelines by checking temperature, sanitising, wearing masks and enforcing completion of covid declaration forms for every appointment you attended. The surgery itself, performed by Dr. George, only took 15 mins. I'm very bad with my eyes flinching, always have been, and yet it didn't impede the surgery at all (although you do still have to try to not move them when possible) and I felt absolutely nothing beyond mild pressure, but definitely no pain. I was brought to a low light room afterwards where I was instructed on how to use the prescribed eyedrops and to wear the provided eyeshields during the day and night, after which i phoned the person with me to come pick me up. And that was it. Due to a 15 min procedure I went from needing glasses, to just 1 week later having better than 20/20 vision, and still improving. My only issue was my eyes were more dry than the typical case, but that has improved and is continuing to do so. The administrative staff, especially Reid as thats who I interfaced with the most, was equally as professional as the medical staff, making sure you remained calm and felt in safe hands when waiting for surgery, as well as organising all appointments and maintaining covid restrictions. I can say without a doubt I have 0 regrets in going through with this and highly recommend anyone sitting on the fence to do it, I'd hate to be 30 years down the line looking back and wishing I had just gone ahead and done it, because I know now it would definitely had been a mistake.

Phoned last week to ask about the possibility and cost of eye surgery and the receptionist took my details, asked me a few questions, the told me she would speak to the optometrist before getting back to me that day or at the latest, the next. Still waiting nearly a week later. There are one, maybe two missed calls on my phone from two different numbers but they are 'suspected spam' so I did not answer. Now the phone goes onto a thing called an 'answerphone' where you leave a message. No-one has thought of that it appears. Not very good going forward on a serious thing like eye surgery when the staff can't work a phone.....

The best thing I've ever done. I had PRK correction surgery on both eyes and had been advised I would feel alot of discomfort after it but Its very managable with painkillers and drops. I received the surgery at 9am, lay down for a few hours and was in tesco that afternoon. I did the consultations with Leanne in Newry then had the surgery with Dr. Jan in Belfast. My experience with Optilase was fantastic from start to finish and would highly recommend PRK. The surgery took roughly 15mins and I felt nothing. Although there was some discomfort afterwards, I had plenty of pain relief and I rested for 5 days as the eyesight fluctuates but was back to work on day 6 with great vision. If you are going for PRK, have plenty of podcasts and audio books ready to listen too. Optilase was 10/10 for me.

I had my laser eye surgery carried out in October 2020 and looking back I can't believe I didn't do it sooner! The initial appointments with the optician and surgeon to check my suitability allowed me to ask any questions I may have had and I found this very reassuring. I was found suitable for PRK and decided to go ahead with the surgery. On surgery day all the staff could not have been nicer, they really go out of their way to put you at ease and explain everything before it happens. I genuinely didn't feel nervous at all. A few minutes on the table and that was it, minimal discomfort and I was done. With PRK the first 48 hours are a little uncomfortable, I basically spent two days relaxing in a dark room administering the eyedrops I was given and sleeping (o be honest I actually welcomed the excuse to chill!) After day 2 it was like a whole new world - I COULD SEE EVERYTHING!! I have been back for 3 routine check ups between October and mid January, which is great to know the team are monitoring your progress. I've just been discharged with 20:15 vision, which is more than I ever could have expected. But I know if I have any issues I can just pick up the phone and I can see someone. This is the best thing I have ever done, so hassle free, and so much to gain from it! Thank you to all the team at Optilase for make my experience with laser eye surgery such a great one. I had my eye laser surgery in Belfast Victoria Square The surgery is amazing I would and have been advising everyone I know who wears glasses to get it done! I'm actually disappointed that I didn't get it done sooner! I now have now been advised in the aftercare appointments that I have 20-10 vision (better than 20-20) just unreal!!! The surgeon he explained everything really well and because I had a slight stigma on one eye he advised me on two different surgeries I could have, luckily I was able to have the new lasik but he wanted me to have the surgery in the day so I said I was open to both and they would get same result! The latter just took a big longer to heal. Being an anxious person the surgeon and the nurses were brilliant during the actual surgery they kept me calm during the surgery thought I can now safely say its honestly painless- maybe a little uncomfortable but to be able to see how I see now the uncomfortable-ness was forgotten about as soon as I left the surgery room. My eyes seemed to be working as soon as I had my surgery it was amazing!!! For personal reasons I couldnt have someone get me directly from optilase building but one of the girls actually walked my to my car and driver going far and beyond what they actually need to do! Thank you again! I'm sorry I don't remember names! I would recommend to anyone thinking about it! This exact time two years ago in February 2019, I got LASIK Lazer eye surgery at Optilase in Belfast City Centre. I was absolutely terrified before the procedure and I was a Queen’s University student working part time at this time so I was also quite worried on the financial side of things. Initial appointments with the optometrist and surgeon were great. Michael and my surgeon explained everything to me and went through surgery options etc. All the staff were very polite and welcoming. Day of my Lasik surgery, arrived on time and was told I had to wait for up to 2hours which was undisclosed beforehand and made me quite anxious. During the surgery the staff were all very professional and talked me through everything that was happening. When treating my right eye everything went perfectly, I didn't feel any discomfort or pain. However, when treating my left eye I could feel a lot of pressure and some pain, I asked the surgeon to stop but it wasn't until the nurse advocated for me that he did. The nurse was very comforting and got the surgeon to apply more drops to numb my eye. When the surgery was over I asked why my left eye had been sore to treat, considering I hadn't felt anything in my right. I was told this was normal for people to experience due to the anesthesia wearing off, as the drops are applied at the same time. Given my overall experience I would still recommend Optilase. The results from my surgery have been great, my eyesight is 20/20 and the value for money is fair. I was disappointed with how the day of my surgery went.

The whole experience before hand was daunting but as soon as I stepped foot in optilase the morning of surgery the girls at the front desk couldn’t be anymore helpful and reassuring. Had PRK surgery. Painless surgery and very quick. 7 mins each eye. Recovery wasn't as good. Couldn't open eyes for 2 days as eyes extremely sensitive to light. Dark room, no lights on. After 4 days back in to get contact bandages removed. Vision very blurry still, the blurry eyes stayed for 2 weeks, so no driving or work as you can't read phone, computer screens etc. 3rd week slightly blurry but improving daily. Recovery to full 20/20 vision can take up to 6 months I'm told. My eyes were -5 each eye so now with no contacts or glasses its well worth it.

Where do I start? The word phenomenal service doesn’t even begin to cover it. From start your finish I experienced customer service like no other. During my initial consultation in Newry, I was listened to, respected and all my ‘trivial’ questions were valued and answered. I wasn’t pressured into booking anything but instead given time to think about whether I wanted to go ahead with my surgery. From the point where I decided to follow through with the dream of not wearing glasses i experienced customer service that was what I would call ‘top class’. The girls were authentic in their care and consideration for me and called/email numerous times to ensure I was feeling okay and hasn’t got any remaining questions or concerns about my surgery. On the day of my surgery I arrived at the clinic and was genuinely surprised at the measures taken to ensure safety was their top priority during this very unsettling time where COVID is quite prevalent in our city. There was zero contact with not only myself but also my belongings. Everything was placed in bags, no sharing of pens, sanitising at every corner etc and it was clear that my safety & they safety of the staff here was high on their agenda. When I went in for surgery, I was quite nervous (being the wuss that I am) but was made to feel very at ease. I was talked through everything that would be happening and the girls there felt like mummy’s to me when my own one couldn’t be there to hold my hand. The surgery was over & done in the blink of an eye - literally - and I was taken into a lovely quiet room by a lovely girl called Aoife and again had everything post-op explained about recovery and what I needed to do. When I got home, during recovery I had some questions that I forgot to ask and was able to phone and get everything answered and made to feel very at ease. Again, I had follow up emails to ensure I was feeling okay in my recovery. Finally, I’m here on my last day. I’ve had my contacts removed and am feeling on top of the world!! Sadly after today there may be news of a 4 week closure due to a rise in COVID numbers which really is a pity because I have yet to be in a business which has clearly invested so much money & time into making sure this building remains COVID free! So, listen, if you’re reading this wondering if Optilase is the place to get your surgery done, the answer is YES!! I’ve researched many places as obviously surgery on your eyes is not a decision you want to take lightly, and no company seemed as professional and on the ball as these guys. They are the crem de la crem of eye surgery, customer service and COVID management. You won’t find better, fact. I’m off out the door now without glasses, as happy as can be!! You won’t regret it :)

I had been considering going for laser eye treatment for a while but never really made the step, but a couple of friends had it done and recommended it was the best thing they ever did. I had been getting sick to the teeth of contact lenses and wasn't really keen on glasses especially when playing golf. I googled laser eye treatment and Optilase was one of the first hits so I contacted them and was able to book a consultation in a few days. When I contacted my friend they said they had been to Optical Express and recommended it but I thought I would keep my consultation with Optilase. When I arrived I was warmly welcomed and brought into a nice waiting area with coffee, refreshments and Netflix on TV while I filled in Health Forms, and everyone was very friendly, particularly Nicole. I underwent assessments on whether or not I was suitable for surgery and the consultant was extremely informative and knew his stuff. To my shock I was informed I could go for surgery 2 days later, and I would also receive a discount for doing so. On the day of surgery I was warmly welcomed back and met the surgeon prior to surgery who explained everything in detail and reassured me the he took every measure to ensure the procedure would be as successful as possible. I have to admit it was slightly more painful than I expected but the nurses beside me were very friendly and comforting and helped me feel at ease. The 5 or 6 hours after surgery are quite painful and discomforting and it is difficult to open your eyes but the nurses and surgeon did explain this would be the case so I was well prepared for this. I've only went through the surgery 3 days ago so my eyes are still quite red and bloodshot and do get a bit dry but I was given plenty of eye drops to treat this. I would say though so far I am delighted with the vision results I have experienced after only a few days. I can see better than I could have previously with contacts or glasses and apparently my sight will improve as my eyes fully heal so that is definitely something to look forward to! I would highly recommend Optilase to anyone considering surgery and I have already recommended them to a few of my friends and colleagues, and I believe they reward a referral so even better! :)

I had the Lasik procedure with optilase in Belfast and it was so simple and painless. They said I'd feel pressure for a few seconds during the procedure but I barely even felt that. The day after I kept my eyes closed and they were fine - mild discomfort like you have an eyelash in your eye but no pain. The staff themselves were so welcoming and willing to answer any questions. I'd definitely recommend it, I had quite a high prescription (around -5.00 in one eye) so being able to walk around every day without glasses or contacts has been fantastic.

I was contacted by a lovely lady who informed me that I needed a consultation, that they would do tests and put drops in my eyes! The optician that tested my eyes was very informative and after nearly one hour I was delighted to find out that I was suitable! Got the laser eye surgery after struggling with my vision for 27 years, got it done at 7am and by 2pm I was on the mend and vision came back to about 60%, it is sore for the first few hours after surgery but I eventually slept it of and it’s totally worth them few hours of pain lol the next day the difference was unbelievable 20:20 vision😎 I would definitely recommend this crowd and the advice and support I was givin was top class
