Wow I could see my computer screen clearly without any spexs 4 days after getting bilateral multifocal lens replacement. My sister-in-law also got bilateral Eyehance monofocal lens replacement on 19th January in SVS. After our 1 day post op we both could read a restaurant menu and see clearly everything across the street - absolutely amazing! From the intial consult to the one week post op the full team were so professional, friendly, reassuring and helpful and a special mention to Jack the PA, Ross the optician, Liz n Ben in the surgery team, David the ophthalmologist and Kerry who made sure we both got safely to our transport. The surgery was very quick and painless. We both would fully recommend surgery to anyone considering it.

I went to Glasgow for the surgery to remove my cataracts in both eyes. Before the actual surgery day I attended for special scans due to the advancement of the cataracts. The visit was very pleasant and the staff were professional and friendly throughout. I had my surgery for the first eye on the Monday and the second one done on the Tuesday. From arriving at the clinic and throughout the visit any member of staff I dealt with could not be nicer. The anaesthetist and surgeon spoke to me before each operation and answered any questions as well as helping me relax. During and after each surgery I never experienced any pain or discomfort at all. I did not have to take painkillers and when the dressing could be removed my eyesight was vastly improved immediately. The improvement was amazing and I can’t thank everyone enough for their fantastic service. My only regret is that I didn’t go for the surgery earlier instead of waiting for months on NHS waiting list with no sign of having it done. Just before my surgery my eyesight was so bad that I could not see the ground being uneven, fell, broke my wrist and hurt my foot and ankle. Four weeks on and my check up shows my distance eyesight is great and I no longer require glasses. I only require basic reading glasses bought in a chemist etc but was always aware that this would be the case. I could not be more delighted in the outcome. I would not hesitate to recommend Glasgow for the procedure.

Everything during the pre op, operation and recovery was as explained by the staff and in the literature. This was very reassuring and helped allay any anxiety. I had a visit a few days ago for LASIK check up. The staff are very helpful, professional and friendly. There was a little discrepancy between my lenses and prescription, which they kindly double-checked my lenses and find my prescription for the second time just to make sure everything is correct, which I really appreciated. They also use automated machines to figure out your prescription which is amazing, fast and because you can try going back and fort between different lenses you can very quickly nail it and be totally confident that you have exhausted the process and tested all options. Every optometrist need to invest on one of these, I would go back there just for my eye test if I could :) At the end of the examination I was told if I was suitable for surgery, which was great; shame the prices are very high for such a simple process (at list for my prescription) otherwise I would have been writing this without my glasses now :) I will definitely visit them in the future when I'm finally ready to ditch the specs.

My eyesight became an issue around the age of 45 and from then on I became increasingly dependent on glasses for reading. By the age of 51 I couldn’t read anything resembling normal text without them. I tried contact lenses but didn’t find they gave me clear vision and I really struggled to get them out. I decided surgery was definitely something I wanted to explore. My husband was very wary of the procedure and the process of finding a reputable company in whom to entrust my vision. I convinced him to come with me to my appointment at Optical Express in Edinburgh for the initial consultation. The staff in Edinburgh were amazing. They were very welcoming and subjected me to the most thorough eye examination, using state of the art machinery. I had gone armed with lots of questions (and my husband and all his doubts). The staff were able to answer them all. Of course there are risks, like there are with any surgical procedure, but I left my appointment confident in their ability to carry out lense replacement on both eyes. My surgery was around a month later. I opted to have the surgery in Glasgow, only because it’s equidistant from home and the availability suited. The staff and facilities in Glasgow were excellent too. I met the surgeon before the op and he explained what he was going to do, all of which I’d had fully explained by the staff previously. The op itself was relatively short, I was out of theatre, both eyes done in around half an hour. The procedure wasn’t painful at all, I would say it was a bit uncomfortable but mostly down to the thought of what was happening. The staff in the theatre talk to you throughout to make sure you’re ok. I felt very well looked after. Post surgery I went home to rest. As expected my eyes were very sensitive and streaming for the first few hours. By the end of the day they felt much better and I was able to watch a bit of TV. The following day I had my follow up appointment back in Edinburgh (my choice). I was amazed that even from day one I had 20/20 vision. I’m now 5 weeks post surgery. I haven’t needed glasses at all. My trifocal lenses have noticeably improved my distance vision despite the fact I didn’t wear glasses for distance. The most notable difference for me is the fact that I’m no longer beholden to my glasses. I’ve managed to thread a needle despite the fact that they were very open and said I may still need a little pair of +1’s for very small text and fine work etc. I know it’s a cliche but I really do wish I had done it sooner and I can’t recommend Optical Express highly enough. I have nothing but positive things to say about every member of staff I met and my outcome so far is better than I could have imagined.

The procedure itself was slightly uncomfortable and the few hours after along with sunlight sensitivity but after approx. 4 hours of rest. Felt back to my normal self. Given the time I would have had to wait for NHS treatment, Optical Express were an excellent choice to have it done immediately. The premises in Glasgow are very welcoming and comfortable. Had a laser IDesign Lasik surgery back in March and the only regret I've got is that didn't do it any sooner! The staff were extremely helpful and efficient both in Edinburgh Haymarket (Georgina in particular) for a consultation, and in Glasgow for the actual procedure day. The girl at the reception made sure I did get into a taxi waiting along with me. And the surgeon David was all calm and reassuring. Thank you all so much! The only down experience possibly was when I wasn't asked if I had anybody with me or how I would be getting home. Three months on and my eyesight is excellent after wearing glasses and contact lenses for over 30 years. The result has turned out to be better than they anticipated. :D Overall, I'd advise anybody to go for it and not read too many of the negative reviews (as most of them look like coming from personal negative attitude rather than professionalism of the staff imho). The best investment into my health I've ever made.

For the first time in 40+ years i had a shower and could see my feet, for the first time in 40+ years i could walk in the rain and see clearly, and the list goes on, all the little things that not having to wear (thick) glasses makes easier, driving, shaving, going from outside to a warm room and not steaming up, wearing a mask. For most of my life I've wanted to wear sunglasses, my night vision was very poor while driving. I went out for a night drive to see how it was last night and what a difference! no halo, no starbursts! I ride a motorbike so wearing a helmet means looking through two lots of plastic and the danger of steaming up! from the age of 12 i have had to wear glasses and with age comes a greater vision loss, i was -9 so that's some thick lenses and you just cant do anything without glasses! I'm now 4 days post lens replacement and my life has changed for ever! My eyes are still settling down post op but the gains are amazing! I have worn contact lenses for 30yrs and was always apprehensive about laser surgery but decided to take the plunge and do it My experience was great from consultation to day of surgery….I went to optical express St Vincent Street. Every member of staff was lovely, knowledgeable and reassuring, your eyes are so important and I was nervous. The procedure was quick and afterwards my eyes felt a bit stingy and watery but I was reassured that was normal. Although I had vision. I came home and slept and when I woke I could see….for the first time in 30yrs, it was amazing. The next day I went for a check up and once again the staff were lovely, I also bought new good quality sunglasses at optical express to protect my “new” eyes and also because optical express found a freckle at the back of my eye which had never been spotted over the years, their equipment is high quality. If you’re apprehensive and not sure if it’s for you, book a free consultation and see how you feel, it’s the best decision I’ve made and worth every penny to have my vision corrected….thank you optical express

So this was a 5 star review but not any more. I had LASIK treatment at st Vincent Street. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. They are a very professional team but so lovely and approachable too. Very knowledgeable as lots of the staff have had the same or similar treatment. The building and facilities are fantastic. Beautiful and so modern. Amazing all round. I will be honest and add this was not the painless process they advise. well not for me. They did my right eye which I found excruciating. I was crying out in pain. Thankfully the surgeon gave me extra numbing drops before they did my left eye. The left felt like the pressure and discomfort they talk about. I could not sleep for the pain and my 40 minute car ride home was horrendous. Take painkillers with you. I also could not sleep afterwards so it was 3/4 hours of pain. I took painkillers which helped. It's true though that after that period the pain is completely manageable. The effects are immediate for your vision though. Went back today for second check up. Better than 20/20 vision already so it's well worth the pain. The surgeon and staff really take care of you and are so encouraging and patient. HOWEVER no one will respond to the fact I'm advising the numbing drops did not work in my right eye. I could feel the flap being moved around and the tools Touching my eyeballs. I knew I was in trouble when I could feel the cup that hold the eyelids open scrape all the way down the back of my eyeball and its was excruciating. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it again. Nor am I saying I wouldn't use optical express again. I'm trying to advise you so that you take the feedback on board and this does not happen to others???? There was too much time in between administering the drops and the surgeon being ready. She was held up. I could see the women who gave me the drops watching the time and apologising again and again. The surgeon was held up.

I would really recommend using optical express for iDesign laser eye surgery. Each staff member I met was so calming, caring and helpful from the beginning of the process and throughout - thank you! I am really pleased with my results so far and I’m excited for my vision to get even better. I would have liked more knowledge and transparency on just how uncomfortable your eyes will feel after the surgery. I was told at initial consultation that my eyes would feel gritty however minutes before going in for the procedure I was told I would have lots of discomfort, streaming eyes and my eyes will want to be closed. It would have been good to know this much detail at initial consultation as it would have given me more time to digest and prepare myself for it. I felt quite rushed out the building after the surgery. I was told the anaesthetic would wear off in 10 mins which it did as soon as I got to the car and the discomfort started straight away and lasted for around 3 hours. The optometrist that did my next day check up was amazing. She was so helpful and answered all of my worries/questions. I had better than 20:20 vision less than 24 hours after the procedure which is amazing. I really would recommend optical express to anyone considering getting laser eye surgery as they have been so professional, helpful and caring towards me. I have had a great experience so far 😊

I cannot praise the team who took care of me at Optical Express enough. I attended the Glasgow clinic for lens replacement surgery a few days ago and the initial results are amazing. I returned to work today and it feels so strange not to wear glasses ( in a good way!) I cannot believe how sharp my vision is without glasses and when I went for my check up the following day I was told that it would improve even further over the next few weeks. I would like to thank every team member involved. They were all so kind and professional and I would like to give a special thanks to Martin who explained the aftercare procedure I would need to adhere to and also sat with me for such a while after my surgery while I waited on my husband coming to collect me. I did attend Ross Hall, Optimax and Optical Express, Optical Express was the one that instilled most confidence by a country mile. I met with patient advisor Zavanna Nelson, refractive Optometrist Derrick Hanna, the surgeon Mr David Teenan, after care from refractive optometrist Claire Milne and Charlie from the surgical team. I have singled all of them out for their exemplary service. No procedure is without risks. do your own research and the team at optical express shall of course advice you accordingly and with your best interest at heart. i highly recommend them.

I was very apprehensive but was given a relaxant before the op and couldn’t believe that us was so quick and utterly pain free. Appointment was for 14:00 however it was 15:50 before I went into the theatre and was out the door by 16:30 still with my cup of tea in my hand. That fact notwithstanding the service and attention to your wellbeing cannot be faulted. The procedure to remove my cataract was at the very worse a mild discomfort. The optometrist is worth a special mention since the care and attention that he takes prior to you going into surgery cannot be faulted. If I were to suggest one improvement it would be that patients are given a few more minutes to gather their wits and finish their cup of tea following surgery. Following the surgery my blood pressure was take and then before I realised it I was ushered into the lift my shirt sleeve still rolled up, my jacket and paperwork under one arm and a cup of tea in other hand. I ended up standing at the downstairs reception desk getting my self organised before I went outside.

Having had laser eye surgery yesterday I can say I was so happy with how everything went. All staff were very friendly and knowledgeable from the consultation right through to the surgery and aftercare. I was feeling a bit apprehensive on the day but was made to feel at ease and everything was explained step by step. Nothing was too much. I did have discomfort for around 3hrs after the surgery which is to be expected, after this it got better and better. Having attended my first follow up appointment today my vision has been confirmed as better than 20/20 after 1 day and my recovery is progressing great with little discomfort now.

Definitely worth the money. The experience with the place is so great and professional. My eye sight has improved massively. I understand people can be scared going in, cause it does sound scary, you do feel that your eyes are a bit sore after and it is a serious procedure however, it’s not as stressful as you might think it is. The procedure itself took less than 5 mins on both eyes. The staff looks after you so well, before, during and after the procedure. Best thing i have ever done i was going to do this five years ago paid my deposit and had cold feet and didnt go ahead. Two weeks ago I underwent surgical lens replacement. Although I was told the procedure would not be painful, like most I thought there would be some pain or discomfort at least. Did Not feel a thing. I found the staff very polite and helpful, very professional in the way they dealt with my questions and the preparation. don't expect instant miracles, as I say I had my operation 2 weeks ago and my vision is still a little bit blurry and will be for a month or two. The staff are available every day to deal with any problems, luckily I have had no problems. 4 years on I wish I could change my star rating to * star. In the first year I experienced difficulties in reading without glasses and felt my general eyesight was not as it should be. Over the next 2 years I had numerous tests done and was told by one specialist that the wrong lens had been used! Ultimately it was recommended that laser treatment would be required to correct my problem. A result one might think.... No they wanted to charge me £800 for that laser treatment. The reason, my 12 month guarantee had expired. I tried explaining that this was an ongoing problem from within the 12 month guarantee period. It was the decision by the finance department, the penny watchers in the company and not the specialists who ultimately ensured their would be no light at the end of the tunnel for me.

Had lens replacement surgery here in February and have to say it’s fantastic!! Had been wearing glasses for over10years. Tried contact lenses to no avail so went for “the full monty”. It’s like a new lease of life!! Basic things like being able to differentiate between the shampoo or conditioner whilst showering, no glasses steaming up while cooking and getting back to swimming and other sports with 20/20 vision is heaven. From the moment I stepped foot inside OE St Vincent street I was made to feel at ease. From the staff on reception up to the surgeon, everyone was happy and friendly. I cannot praise them enough. After toying with the the idea of having my eyes done for a number of years now, l finally decided to bite the bullet and go for it. After a nervous trip up to Glasgow, l went in for my Lens replacement surgery feeling quite scared and apprehensive. The surgery itself took roughly 10 minutes per eye, the surgeon talked me through what was happening and how it was going. All in all, l was in and out, ready to leave within 1.5 hours. The surgery was laidback, quick and painless. Afterwards, my sight was blurry and my eyes slightly grainy and watery but not in any way painful. I slept for a couple of hours following the procedure and woke to find my sight instantly better. In the days following my procedure my eyes have just got better and better. Received laser eye surgery last Friday. Thoroughly impressed and have been recommending it to friends. Had issues with wearing contact lenses frequently such as comfort, eye dryness and occasionally falling asleep with contacts in (not good). Got an eye infection which made me consider laser eye treatment. Pre-op consultation (no commitment) was thorough and informative providing the available options. Opted to get the surgery citing very favourable statistics in terms of success rate. I weighed this up against the risk of further eye problems due to contact lens habits. As well as the health of my eyes, the convenience of not needing to wear glasses or contacts again and the fact it pays itself back over 10 years helped me make my decision. I was able to secure a favourable credit plan for payment. I got the surgery on Friday and I am at back at work (Monday) with better vision than ever. Amazed how quickly my eyesight improved. Obviously it depends on your age, prescription and use of contacts / comfort wearing glasses but I'd already say it is worth it. Staff were welcoming and friendly, atmosphere was good - busy but not loud or rushed. There was a nice light and comfortable waiting room though you were never waiting long as everything ran so smoothly. It's also a good excuse to get a great pair of sunglasses as you won't be spending any more money on regular spectacles. I had my Laser Eye surgery yesterday (Lasik with iDesign) and I am extremely happy with the results and service provided by Optical Express. I had my post op check up today and my vision is now 2 better than 20/20 vision. My surgery was carried out by Dr Teenan who did a fantastic job! Each step of the procedure was explained in detail and all staff did a great job to reassure me on the day. The procedure was approx 30 seconds each eye. If you are thinking about Laser Eye, i would 100% go for it! There is some slight discomfort lasting approx 4hrs or so after the surgery which is to be expected. This is only day 1 but waking up and being able to see this morning was amazing!

I had Lasik procedure at Glasgow clinic last week and found everything great, from consultation through to the day of surgery and aftercare. The surgical team were so friendly and made me feel relaxed, I knew in advance what would happen and the surgeon spoke through what he was doing. The actual procedure was over very quickly and painless and the anaesthetic worked for about 30 minutes after but wore off during my two hour train journey home. Although it had been described as a peeling onions feeling I felt more like someone had rubbed chilli in my eyes! Thankfully I had my Mum to accompany me as I had to keep my eyes closed as my eyes and nose watered for the next 2 hours or so. In hindsight I should have got a hotel near the clinic rather than travelled. After a day resting my eyes I went for a follow up appointment. My vision was amazing by this point, and I was seeing detail and colour like HD. My previous prescription was short sighted 1.75. The optometrist examined my eyes again and answered all my questions. It’s now been a week and the little red marks on the white of my eyes are almost away, my eyes feel almost back to normal just slightly dry, and I was given more lubricating drops for free. So pleased I had this done, wish I’d done so sooner.

I had monovision lens replacement surgery earlier this week and was amazed at how simple and pain free the experience was, all thanks to the expertise and professionalism of the lovely staff. They really made me feel at ease and I felt very well cared for. It's very early days but already my sight is good, It's an amazing procedure. If I had known how easy it would be I would have had it done long ago. So , if, like me, you are putting it off because you are scared of what the surgery is like....DON'T BE! There is nothing to be scared of, the procedure was quick and painless and I felt absolutely fine afterwards. I will add a review of the aftercare at a later date when I have completed my aftercare appointments.

Had multifocal lens replacement on 3rd April this year and then had to have enhancement carried out on Tuesday 11 October. All staff were very friendly, put me at ease, were honest with me and very efficient. It’s like a well oiled machine! I never suffered at all with the multifocal lens replacement but, have to say, the enhancement was extremely sore for a couple of days. I had been advised that it would be painful but, oh my, it really was! However, I am now on Day 3 and back to normal thankfully and going to Optical Express in East Kilbride tomorrow to get contact lenses removed. My only criticism would be that I feel you should have a free tea/coffee machine in waiting area for both patients and partners accompanying them whilst waiting. I know if asked, you could get one but a lot of people wouldn’t ask. Apart from that and it’s a small thing, an excellent service, thankyou.

A small group of us got chatting in the waiting room which was exceluent as we saw her confidence,she didn't push it just answered questions The staff who did the scans and all the staff i met were friendly and efficient.offering to answer questions. The surgeon was excellent,explains what was happening at each stage.and encouraged me saying 'your doing well as I lay still during the replacement lense time.I personally had no.pain either during or after the procedure.I know everyone is different. I I looked out of my.hotel window just two days after my first eye had been 'done' I saw the tall building I had seen earlier in the distance as just a grey blur,really clearly. However after doing some research and speaking to the Optical Express consultant I made an informed decision to go ahead with LASIK surgery with IDesign.
