I recently had lens replacement treatment in Birmingham and the surgeon was Mr Alex George, the whole procedure from start to finish was superb . The actual lens replacement took no longer than 20 minutes. The following day I could read the small print in the newspaper which was amazing . My initial eye check up at Leicester Optical Express at Norwich House with the Leicester Team was also superb . My follow up check after the operation four weeks on has confirmed my eyesight has now 20/20 vision . No more reading glasses and now a better quality of life. My eyes had deteriorated so badly that I needed glasses for reading everything all the time. I kept spare glasses everywhere. I could not read any labels without glasses. I was so nervous and apprehensive about getting the lens replacement but desperately needed this eye surgery. The day of the surgery went so smoothly. All the staff were so friendly and really put me at ease. The Surgeon was especially skilled and so easy to talk to. I seriously cannot believe the results. It has changed my life, my vision is near perfect and 4-weeks later am still pinching myself in disbelief because I no longer need glasses. Its like a miracle. If you are considering having lens replacement surgery yourself, I highly recommend this procedure. I wish I had done this years ago. I’m very happy with my laser eye surgery experience. My vision prior to the surgery was -4.50 in each eye and now i have 20/20 vision. I am so happy with the results. The team in Birmingham treated me with care and they were so polite. All the staff members made me feel at ease and one thing i was really happy with was that i was given stress balls during the operation so that i had something to fidget with. This helped me feel more at ease. My surgeon was Sajjad and he made me feel really comfortable throughout the entire experience. i highly recommend going to Optical Express if you are considering laser eye surgery.

Had a great experience, the whole Leicester team were very friendly and open to answer any questions I had however silly and were very reassuring. The procedure itself was in Birmingham and again everyone there was super friendly making me feel reassured. The team were very attentive and quick to notice I was nervous despite saying I wasn’t and handed me stress balls. Dr Mughal and team performed the whole procedure very quickly. I felt no discomfort but I had been wearing contact lenses for over 10 years so the increased pressure was no different to taking out stubborn contact lenses. I was in the theatre for 10 mins in total. My recovery was very quick. I was able to see immediately after surgery but after eye drop effects wore off, yes it stung but only for 3 hours and then it was just sticky till morning. I was deemed driving safe 18 hours after surgery, although I let myself recover a week before driving. There is bruising of the eye but for me completely dissipated after 5 days. I would absolutely recommend the procedure at optical express despite being slightly more expensive than other places.

Just wanted to write this review to thank both the optical express teams working at the Leicester and Nottingham clinic for my LASEK procedure. The Leicester team; Pretti, Bie, Neeta, and Jon all helped me throughout my consultation ensuring that I had the best possible Surgery and payment plan, whilst also answering any questions and queries that I had on the day. With a special mention for Pretti who put me at ease throughout the whole consultation process which I was very nervous for. The Nottingham clinic is where my surgery took place, I'd like to thank DR Sajjad Mughal and his team for their excellent service. The pre-surgery checks were quick and made me feel comfortable, and the surgery was not only fast but completely painless. Due to having the LASEK procedure the pain experienced in recovery was quite intense at times throughout the first 48 hours, however, this was helped a lot with the pain killing eye drops provided for me which I used sparingly. I was also put at ease with my phone call check up on the first day of recovery to reassure me that everything I was currently experiencing was completely normal. After sticking to the eye drop routine given to my by the clinics I had my check up 4 days later and was told I already had 20/20 vision, which was later improved and better than 20/20 at my 3 month check up! Overall, my experience with Optical Express was amazing and choosing to get the procedure done was the best choice that I have ever made. Once again, a big thank you to the Optical Express teams at the Leicester and Nottingham clinics.

I had Lasik eye surgery 2 months ago and it’s been life changing! I had liaised with Jonathan, had all my pre and post op. check ups with Pretti at the Leicester branch, and my surgery with Dr Kazmi at the Nottingham branch. They, and the whole team have been amazing throughout, very thorough and good follow ups. All the risks were explained continuously which was reassuring. The actual surgery was so quick and painless, a fair bit of discomfort for approx. 12 hours after the anaesthetic eye drops wore off (this was expected and normal) and the very next day - less than 24 hours later - I had better than 20:20 vision. I had hesitated to have this surgery for years due to my high prescription, and now wish I had done it sooner. Massive thanks to the whole team and I have already been recommending to family and friends!

Had multi focal lens done at White City by Jan Venter. Again great service and felt completely at ease. Took 2 hours from entering to leaving. I wanted to share my experience with Optical Express which has been positive overall, although not entirely, and I want to give an honest account from start to finish. Before I had surgery, my eyesight was -5.25 and -6.00, so a strong prescription. I went to the Leicester office to have my consultation and was told that I would be suitable for LASIK iDesign. I was booked in for November 2021 for the surgery at Nottingham. I arrived, had the iDesign scans and was taken upstairs to the waiting room. After an hour or so of nervously waiting, I was called in to the surgeon's office, where he told me that unfortunately I wasn't actually suitable for LASIK and would have to re-book for LASEK. The reason this only came to light in Nottingham is that the 'non-surgery' branches, such as Leicester, do not have the scanners that determine whether or not you are suitable. Now, for me, this isn't really acceptable. I had taken a day off work, organised childcare, and paid NCP parking charges for the day, not to mention got mentally prepared for the surgery. If I had been given the slightest hint that this was a possibility, I would have offered to travel to Nottingham for my initial consultation. I returned to Leicester a few weeks later and discussed my options, and was told that I could have LASEK iDesign instead. The cost was the same, and I was told it's pretty much the same experience as LASIK but with a longer recovery period, and I'd need to take a week off work rather than a day or two. Okay, I thought, not ideal, but I'm set on getting surgery now so let's do it. I was re-booked in Nottingham for the LASEK in December. The surgeon (Sajjad Mughal) and the theatre staff were great and put me at ease. I was given drops (anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and a pain killing drop) and went home to rest. I was told not to use the pain killing drops unless I absolutely had to, as they delay healing. Once the numbing drops given before the surgery wore off, I have to say the pain was absolutely excruciating, perhaps the worst I've ever felt. I do not know how I would have coped without the numbing drops I was given. This pain, coupled with extreme light sensitivity (even the light from a phone torch for my wife to put the drops in was horrendous) lasted 48 hours and was truly, truly awful. Over the first week the pain, discomfort, grittiness and light sensitivity gradually reduced (especially once the bandage lens was removed on Day 4) until by Day 6 or so all that remained was dryness. Most importantly though, my vision (both near and far) was very blurry, so much so that day-to-day activities such as reading, watching TV etc were not possible. This lasted for about 3 weeks, and made work (I sit at a PC most of the day) very, very difficult, with my nose touching the screen a lot of the time to be able to read. Driving was not possible. Understandably, at this point I was regretting my surgery, struggling with blurry vision and feeling very down; wondering why I wasted my money and didn't just stick with my glasses. Then, at around 4 weeks post surgery, my vision almost overnight seemed to have reached a decent standard. By 6 weeks, it was 'good' - equal to my wife who has a slight prescription in one eye but doesn't wear glasses. Over time, the improvement continued and by my 3 month check-up, my vision was now 2 lines better than 20/20! Now, almost 6 months on my vision is still excellent, although I need to use drops once or twice a day to manage ongoing dryness, but that's not a big problem. I guess you could say 'it was worth it in the end' but I can't say my journey was a smooth one. To conclude / summarise / TLDR: + My vision is now excellent which is the most important thing. + The staff both at Leicester and Nottingham were/are excellent, especially Pritti. - Vision Express do not have the scanners available at all branches to tell them whether or not you can have surgery. - The pain and recovery period for LASEK were understated significantly, in my opinion. Perhaps I had an unusually bad reaction.

It’s the best decision I’ve ever made! If you are thinking of getting laser eye surgery, get it done! You won’t regret it. It’s the second day after surgery, my vision is better than 20/20. Amazing experience. Let me also say that it’s all pain free! :) both the Leicester team pretti and my Nottingham surgeon Sajjad mughal were amazing. I would definitely recommend them! 1 month since I’ve had my lasik eye surgery, the whole experience has been wonderful. My vision is still very very good. I would highly recommend

I had my consultation at the Leicester clinic and my surgery at the Nottingham clinic. Honestly, reading through all of the information on paper scared me more than the actual surgery, which was actually rather relaxing. Everyone at the Leicester clinic was really warm and chatty and super helpful with any questions I had, I felt that they really wanted me to have all of the information I needed before I made the decision to go ahead with the surgery. I also felt that they looked after me really well prior to surgery in order to get the best out of the surgery as possible. I have dry eyes and that could've meant that my surgeon wouldn't have been able to operate, so my optometrist, Pretti, put me on an eye drop plan with an extra checkup just before the surgery day, just to check the health of my eyes. Dr Mughal made me feel so at ease during my op, I never thought I would be chatting and sharing a joke with my surgeon during my surgery, I'm so glad he was my surgeon. He was clear with his instructions and very personable. The op only took 2mins max and honestly once you can't see anything it sort of feels like you just have your eyes closed, and since you're laying down it's like you're in bed going to sleep. I just recommend wearing warm clothing if you get cold easily is all. Lastly thank you so much to Bie at the Leicester clinic, for looking after me and really being friendly, it's such a shame we can't get good mamak in the UK!

I have had an almost perfect experience with having laser eye surgery. I am 500% pleased with the outcome, how my eyes are doing and how the whole surgery went. My surgery took place in Birmingham, surgeon Sajjad was amazing, he was very calm and helped with my anxiety. I had problems setting up my finance, which was the only downside to my whole process. I was not contacted by the Leicester branch to set this up in time, therefore on the day my surgery almost didn’t happen. I am self employed maintenance engineer. I had to wear so many different glasses as could not get on with verifocals. Eyes are brilliant. Thought eye surgery is scary and people say scary stuff. It's all rubbish as during surgery when I thought the surgeon was just taking a look at what is to be done. He said ok let's do the other eye. Amazing he had put the new lense in and I didnt even know it. I did not feel a thing. Great service from start to finnish. Consultation at Leicester by Pretti and Meera. I had my laser surgery done yesterday in the Sheffield clinic and all went great. The staff there were kind and explained the process clearly. The first few hours after surgery are difficult but after resting and staying in dim lights, the discomfort in the eyes starts to wear off. Dr Kazmi was my surgeon and helped me to understand the pros and cons of surgery. Preeti was my after care optometrist and answered the questions I had after the surgery. Meera was my initial contact at the first consultation and made me feel comfortable about going ahead and booking the surgery. All of these guys were great and would definitely recommend. I had LASIK laser eye surgery with Optical Express approximately one month ago. As an optometrist myself, I had no qualms about the procedure itself although the staff at both the Leicester clinic for my initial consultation (notably Pretti and Meera) and Nottingham (in particular my surgeon Sajjad Mughal) made the process a reassuring and comfortable one. I was given all the relevant information before, during and after the surgery and the results themselves have been exceptional. I cannot fault my vision and having experienced no symptoms post-surgery, have had a great experience overall and would do it all over again. Would 100% recommend! I've had iDesign LASEK treatment and it took about 3 weeks for my vision to improve but my vision is better than 20/20 now and I've not suffered any side effects which is brilliant! The surgery itself only took a minute, I was in the Birmingham clinic for about an hour only. Surgeon- Muhammad explained the entire procedure clearly and was telling me step by step what he was doing during the procedure. Many thanks to the optician-Pretti from the Leicester clinic for recommending LASEK and for taking care of me after the surgery. If anyone is considering laser eye surgery, just go for the free detailed check up, it's a life changing surgery. My vision was very poor -5.25 in one eye and - 4.75 in the other and now I see better than when I was wearing glasses! It is not a cheap surgery but worth every penny!

I decided to book my consultation in Leicester to really find out what the procedure would involve for me and of course, the cost. I couldn't have been more put at ease, initially by Kelly and then by Pretti. They were incredibly thorough and answered any questions we had, as well as carrying out detailed checks. I felt happy enough to book there and then after previously saying I wouldn't, that's how at ease I felt! Within 2 weeks I was back at Leicester having my after care appointment. My surgery was carried out at Northampton, again all the staff there are great, the surgery team were exceptional. The surgery itself, took less than 10 mins. The next day you can already start to feel the benefits but by 7-10 days I felt great. I am now 1 month post surgery and couldn't be happier. The aftercare has also been great so far. As for the cost, I wore dailies contact lenses before due to dry eyes and, in comparison, the cost is negligible to me considering the improved comfort and quality of life. As most people say.. The tests to determine whether i was eligible for the surgery were very thorough. I went for LASIK with IDesign and the treatment was done in Birmingham by Dr Alex George. I had an eye test in Leicester less than 24 hours after treatment and my vision was already as good as it was with glasses (better than 20/20). Pretti and Kelly in Leicester are very helpful and put me at ease. The operation took place in Birmingham with Dr Luca. I cannot recommend lens replacement enough. I was apprehensive of course with the thought of someone playing with my eyes. Whilst the operation is slightly disconcerting, there genuinely was no pain. I had to keep the covers over my eyes for a few hours and sleep with them on for 5 nights but aside from that and having to apply eye drops,I found the whole process painless. I could read my phone and books within hours, something I've not been able to do without glasses for probably 12 years or more. Whilst I am getting halos from bright lights they are reducing and it is only 5 weeks or so since my operation. They should disappear within 2 months and then, from my perspective, I have perfect eyesight again. The team at Optical Express were awesome. I have felt in control and informed at all stages with regular planned check ups post op.

I’d like to start with the receptionist Nita who welcomed us with a smile and was very warm and friendly. Upon completion of the initial health questions with Nita, I proceeded to my eye check and suitability check with Preeti, the very knowledgable Optom. Preeti did all the eye checks and confirmed I was an ideal candidate for the surgery. I was given a lot of information regarding the lead up-to the surgery, what to expect on the day, along with the aftercare arrangements. I've recently had Laser Eye surgery through Optical Express and can think of no negatives throughout the entire process, I first went into the Leicester office and was greeted by Kelly, who was extremely friendly who eventually passed me onto Pretti who took me through the eye tests ect. - Pretti was very warm and enthusiastic, she guided me through the entire process & answered any questions I had. I had laser eye surgery last week in Birmingham but my initial appointment and post op appointment were at the Leicester branch! Both Pretti and Kelly were always super friendly and welcoming and I never felt pressured! Pretti has lots of knowledge and always put me at ease! Kelly ALWAYS replied to my emails super quick when I had questions or concerns and was always lovely, she always remembered who I was which always made me feel valued! Once your surgery is booked, you have a set date in which payment needs to be made (if you’re paying in full) but I was having problems with dry eyes and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to have the surgery when scheduled! I was concerned about making full payment on the date I was supposed too but Kelly arranged for me to make the payment once my eyes were better so I didn’t need to worry! Post op- I had 20:20 vision the next day and hardly any discomfort! So happy I went through with it all and would recommend to anyone!!!!

I have worn glasses/contacts since i was around 14, i always felt glasses didnt suit me & then had complications with contacts as i got older. My vision was described as 20/20 the day following surgery & i am incredibly happy with the result.The pre-surgery team were so helpful and kept in communication every step of the way, confirming appointments & change of venues due to Covid. Phone appointment with surgeon was reassuring & felt had lots of opportunity to ask questions. On surgery day it was unclear why you have to allow over 3 hours when the actual procedure takes 10 mins & it felt a little rushed out the door immediately after, especially as i had waited 2 hours beforehand. The pain after was highly under-represented. Having said this, i am very happy with the result & would do it again with Optical Express given the choice.

I have recently undergone IOL surgery via Optical Express. My wife had the same treatment some 7 years ago and has been delighted with the results ever since, she never needs to wear glasses at all. 7 years ago I went through all the testing procedures but they said that I would be better to wait for a few more years before having new lenses put in...they refunded my deposit without hesitation. I was really finding it difficult to see and read properly my reading glasses were now up to +3.5 and my mid to long distance vision not too good. My wife and I went back to the same OE in Leicester, although by now they had moved premises, and sought a consultation. As with my wife they were hugely professional and I had a consultation with Pritti, the Optometrist who had carried it out 7 years previously on my wife...a good sign she was still there! The first question I asked was is Dr Jan Venter still working with OE, yes Pritti replied, great I'd like him to perform the operation as we had met him when he performed Linda's operation. So I immediately booked into have all the test completed the following week with the operation, this time one eye one day and one the next in White City London. Because there were less than 7 days before the op I had to sign a waiver form. I had already completed plenty of online research and the fact that Linda had been delighted with her results of 7 years previously and confident that Dr Jan Venter was to complete the surgery I felt very happy, even excited that I was having it done. I had some questions that I wished Dr Jan to answer, so dropped them in an email to him and he then took the trouble to call me personally to go through them which in my view is absolutely first class professional service. All testing went well and the first operation completed no problem. However, my sight was little blurry and it was looking through a steamed up shower door. The following morning i called the clinic and they called me straight in. I went to see barry the Optometrist at White city and he did some tests and said I has swelling of the cornea, which was not uncommon, but nothing to worry about, it would settle down after around 24-48 hours. I then went in to see Dr Jan who spent a good 10 minutes looking at my left eye...he finally pushed his char back and said 'you have a little swelling that I am 99.99% confident will go but why risk it, let's leave it and get you back for the second operation after it is fully recovered. I thanked him and said we'll rebook. Sadly Jan was then off for 2 months so I had to wait until July to have my right eye operation. In the meantime my regular checks were carried out and my left eye was performing brilliantly...only frustrated to have to wait longer. So July cam and this time I was to have the operation at the Birmingham clinic. All went extremely well indeed, another complete set of professional folks at this clinic and I saw Jan before the operation to go through everything. I then had the procedure carried out and returned the next day for a check up. This time no swelling and my eyesight was great. I duly carried out all the eye drops for the next 2 weeks and now some 2 months post operation cannot believe how good it is not to need any form of glasses. I have been back to Leicester clinic for two check ups with Pritti and her colleague and all have been hugely positive. Conclusion: Was I nervous, well yes to begin with because one reads a great deal about what can go wrong and yes sometimes a few people, very small percentages, have some sort of issue but in reading nothing that doesn't seem to be sorted out. However, that is the same with ANY operation, the folks who i came in contact with at OE, and the contact and communication I have had has simply been outstanding and I cannot fault them. Of course there are some very twisted and odd characters out there who spread doom and gloom and distrust about OE...in my view and my wife and I's personal experiences it is simply unjustified. Would I recommend to friends and family YES...worth £6,000 plus...YES.

I had laser eye surgery a month ago and I’m so pleased with the results! From the initial consultation with Pritti I was made to feel at ease and the staff where very friendly and informative. I had my surgery in Nottingham, I met Jonathan my surgeon before hand which was great. I would recommend doing this as it put me at ease and he answered all of my questions. On the day of surgery I was in there only 30 minutes and the treatment only took around 8 mins! Jonathan was great and helped me to relax and keep my mind off of what was happening. Afterwards I could see a subtle improvement, I was then given aftercare and sent home to rest. The next 4 hours where extremely uncomfortable which I wasn’t really expecting but if I was warned i think I would of coped a lot better. after that I could see perfectly and ever since that day I have had no discomfort or dry eye at all! I am loving my new eye sight and aftercare has been great, I called with some questions and they where so helpful. Definitely would recommend this company!! Thank you!

Probably one of the best "big life decisions" I've made. Makes life so much easier. Can now do a lot of activities I simply couldn't or were a pain to do in contacts. Initially I went for a consultation, not sure whether I’d really go through with it even when faced with all the information. Pretti was VERY reassuring and they talked me through all the info. And the reason I’m writing this review is that I passed out at the consultation, was out cold probably due to feeling stressed and anxious, not only did all the lovely staff and Pretti look after me so well but they told me that I wasn’t the first person to pass out AND that people had still gotten through the actual surgery - well even this was just a white lie to reassure me, I consider myself proof that it’s true, no matter how scary it seems - it’s worth it for perfect vision! I had my eyes lasered in December by the surgeon Luca Antico in Birmingham. The whole experience was wonderful, although obviously nerve wracking at the time. It was so quick and everyone who worked there looked after me so well. The pre-op discussion on the day with Luca was brilliant, he made me laugh and tried to put me at ease as I was very anxious. Before I knew it I was back at Leicester for my check up and being seen by Pretti who is lovely, so reassuring and positive. She got the opportunity to say “I told you so!” And here I am, with my better than 20/20 vision, loving seeing the world in a very different way. I met with Bie at the Leicester branch, very friendly and helpful, she did my first checks and booked my check up appointments Optometrist Pretti was very helpful, explained everything clearly, talked me through the process put my mind at ease. Had lasik treatment done at the Nottingham branch with surgeon Sajjad mughal as Pretti told me he was absolutely brilliant, I was so nervous but he talked to me through the whole of the treatment as it was happening, the nurses also put my mind at ease. Didn’t feel any pain. Was a little sore after the surgery but after a lay down felt much better My only regret is - I wish I’d done it sooner Thank you so much!

Although my original prescription was not very high, wearing contact lenses and glasses severely interfered with my every day life, from work to sports. I couldn't believe that within around just 8 hours of having the LASIK iDesign, my vision had already returned to 20/20. The aftercare is easily manageable and the staff were so reassuring from start to finish, Pretti and the Leicester team were especially lovely. The actual procedure with Dr Mughal only lasted 10-15 minutes and is so worth the life changing benefits I've experienced since!
