s. s.Exceptional service! Would happily give 6 stars. The entire team are very welcoming, offering the utmost levels of service at every stage.The standard of care is second to none. At the end of my tether due to multiple allergies/ dermatitis to plastics, dyes and nickel, I visited this opticians as a last resort to obtain spectacles I could wear safely. It was great to meet Kay who clearly has a prodigious amount of knowledge and expertise. He was very reassuring, patient and empathetic as he worked with me to figure out options for spectacles. I was given all the time in the world to work through options, never feeling rushed. The pros and cons of the various decisions were explained in detail. You really feel you are in the hands of an expert in his field. Spectacles dispensed and I went to pick them up with slight trepidation due to my experience elsewhere, needn’t have worried, love my new spectacles! Highly recommend and commend this practice.
S. P.What a wonderful experience. I came to see HBD for an eye exam, my glasses also hadnt been changed in a few years. The level of service was something that I had never received before at an opticians. After my exam I was helped to find the right glasses for me. There range is extensible with ranges from your known brands like Channel to some really different quirky brands. There was so much choice I ended up purchasing 2 as I couldnt pick. Thank you to Kay for making something that is normally mundane a lot of fun!

From start to finish their service is uniformly impeccable and all the staff with whom I have dealt are charming. They even looked after me while I was living overseas. It is a pleasure to go there. S. S.The optician was great, willing to take the time to explain everything and I had great trust in him. What I wasn’t keen on was the hard sell after my appointment for the purchase of glasses, that’s clearly where they make their money. Also the more time I spent in there the more the decor felt like an expensive restaurant toilet, maybe because of the tiled walls... but once again the optician was worth the trip, go see him.
M. E.Absolutely thorough, professional, friendly and personal. I've been coming here for 35 years. Can't recommend this opthalmic practice more highly. The latest equipment to test all aspects of eyesight and optical health. And a very good range of frames and lenses. However many miles you have to travel to get here...it's worth it.

S. C.I've been a customer here for many years and though I no longer work in the City, I still travelled in pre Covid-19 social restrictions each year for my eye tests and regularly bought new glasses.
Service has been generally outstanding during those years, though I started to have a few issues with their lab work a couple of years ago when having new lenses fitted in old frames. These have been resolved as they've arisen though often meant several journeys in from home to resolve. I'm hanging in there with 5 stars for now.....
They've recently had a very experienced optician retire, some staff changes and there have been branch redecorations and different approaches before that, so it'll be interesting to see how service holds up as working practices change for City office staff.
My link with HBD is one I have really valued over the years and I've known several of the staff pretty well over that period. Covid is bringing changes for social visits to London for occasional lunches, appointments and a bit of shopping plus rail fares aren't likely to do anything but increase, so I'll have to see how things evolve for the future.
E. P.I have been a customer of Hodd Barnes Dickins for over 30 years and although I no longer work in the City, I travel from Bournemouth to the City to have my regular Eye Tests. All the Staff are all truly Professional and highly qualified Optometrists and Deipensing Opticians.
Kwabena, Cathy, Terry and Rory provide exceptional Professional, thorough, unhurried warm, friendly Eye Tests. It is Personal Customer Service at it's very best.
Roddy gave me a range of glasses to choose from and provided excellent information on all the range of glasses. There was no high pressure selling, just a need to satify the customers needs.
I highly recommend Hodd Barnes & Dickins.

The team was always available to support me and my case with the manufacturer and did an amazing job staying on top of the repairs.

What you get in an eye test at a chain of opticians is about 10% of a proper eye examination by a fully qualified professional, which is what you get here. Everyone deserves to have an optician this good.
