Was extremely apprehensive about having Refractive Lens Replacement surgery because, you know ... it's the 'eyes' and you're awake for the procedure. I needn't have worried, you actually cannot see what the surgeon is doing, just bright lights and you certainly cannot feel anything because of the anaesthetic eye drops. This is my first day post surgery and I'm writing this review without my glasses. Best decision I've ever made! Cannot highly recommend Optical Express enough. The surgeons, optometrists, specialists, nurses and the whole team are truly professional and make you feel at ease from start to finish.

Exceptional clinic and staff , clinic amazing and staff very informative, new vision and freedom from wearing glasses has changed my life amazing aftercare too vision after 4 days is 70% better than ever before which will continue to improve , no pain during or after surgery . I had full lens replacement in both eyes and honestly this only took around 20mins per eye my vision was a little blurred and light sensitive for the first day but getting better by the day , Both the staff at the bridge water clinic and the staff at at johns street really put my mind at ease both before , during and after I was totally anxious on the day of my surgery and the staff made me feel at ease and talked me through the whole procedure and put me at ease throughout I had heard many stories about what you see during this process and honest it’s just shadows with no pain or discomfort I would say the worst part was having the surgical dressing over my face. Was taken to recovery and given my aftercare information and contact numbers in case of emergency but absolutely not needed so far my eyes are healing well I am able to go about my usual daily routine so very little downtime amazing clinic highly recommend.

Overall I had a brilliant experience with Optical Express. I had my initial consultation at the Bridgewater Clinic and my surgery and follow-up appointments at St. John Street Clinic in Manchester. All of the staff, from the receptionists to the surgeon, from my initial consultation, surgery on the day and for my aftercare appointments, were so friendly and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I had the LASIK treatment. My eyes were quite uncomfortable and sensitive to light for a couple of hours after the surgery but after that felt fine. I can’t believe how quick the surgery was too - no more than 20 minutes. I can’t believe I won’t be wearing contacts or glasses anytime soon! Thank you so much to all the staff at Optical Express!

Following my LASIK (iDesign) laser eye surgery around a month ago, I now have better than 20/20 vision. The recovery process has been great. My vision was around 80-90% better the following day with little pain or discomfort.

I have had lense replacement surgery in both eyes, from the first visit at St John St all the staff were very professional, friendly and clear with all the information they discussed with me, throughout all of the tests they carried out to ensure I was suitable for the surgery, every step was explained, there was never any pressure to sign up. I had my surgery at the Bridgewater Medical Centre, eye surgery was completed in both eyes within 20 minutes. There was no pain whatsoever, I felt very anxious but all of the staff help me deal with my anxiety. The Consultant Ophthalmologist Mr Aasheet Desai spoke personally to me and re assured me that there is no need to worry about any part of the surgery. He was right, when I came out of theatre I was then met by a post op member of the team who explained the after care procedures with any medications. The following day I had a post operative assessment back at St John St were they confirmed that everything was OK. I cannot thank the whole team enough at Optical Express for enhancing my life so much at the age of 56, giving me eye site that is probably better than what I was born with. The difference is amazing. I woud not hesitate to recommend anyone to go and have this procedure done. Thank you Optical Express : )

Summary and feedback in short: Positives: - Super friendly, engaging, proactive and comforting staff, both clinical and non. The surgeon was very straight to the point, realistic and informative to the most part and answered any questions I had. - LASIK (my right eye) little to no paint post-surgery, a little swollen the next day but pretty much clearer and noticeable change in vision. - LASEK (my left eye) procedure felt less uncomfortable than LASIK, it also seemed to be a much quicker procedure than LASIK. Negatives: - Questionable and in my opinion unreasonable waiting in the operating room in my case. My first planned LASIK surgery, around 10 minutes with anaesthetic drops and all prepared but waiting for the surgeon as he was consulting with the next patient. After an unplanned complication with my left eye I decided to go with LASEK to get both eyes over and done with, but the wait was even longer- felt like a bag of money laying down on the operating table; with the knowledge that I already had my right eye completed, which was increasing to light sensitivity, I was laying down looking straight up at the blaring white light for at least 20 minutes before the surgeon came in after consulting with the next patient again to start surgery on my left eye. - LASEK (my left eye) pain was quite up there in the scale, constant for two days straight, a lot of discomfort and almost unbearable pain compared to LASIK. - Mix up with appointments, after the unplanned LASEK which has a longer recovery period, I had to take prolonged leave from work and stay with family in Birmingham, requested for my aftercare appointment for my LASEK eye to be moved to Birmingham, but they instead booked 2 appointments in Manchester on the same date, one in the morning and another in the evening- slight inconvenience maybe genuine mistake by the staff. Feedback: - As a healthcare provider, I believe it would be reasonable to assume that patient experience and quality of care is a top priority, however, I find the practice of how post-consultation with the surgeon, you are brought into the operating room and are made to wait until the surgeon finishes their next consultation? Particularly extended periods of waiting for a continuation surgery where the wait was longer than the start of the surgery. In my opinion, it would be expected post-consultation to go straight into surgery instead of making the patient wait, increasing their stress and nerves; and to finish with one patient before taking on the next. I was left in a lot of discomfort looking up at the bright lights after having one procedure completed and waiting for the surgeon to finish their consultation to start my left eye. - It would also be advantageous to inform the patient about how the suction works with LASIK, I was only informed that they will attempt it 3 times and if failed, the surgery needs to be rescheduled. I was instead left uninformed that the suction cups were one size fits all as well as the potential actions that may affect the loss of suction; which in my case interpreting “one size fits all” meaning my eye shape may be incompatible or my nerves and anxiety increasing palpitations.

Would highly recommend Optical Express Manchester, I was nervous before meeting with anyone from the clinic to understand more about the procedure and how it all works. I found the whole team at the Manchester office really friendly and helpful. I was not able to have my surgery on my selected day due to catching covid, but Optical Express were great at re-arranging and finding me another date at a different location. I had laser eye surgery done a month ago and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made! The staff are really friendly and helpful, as was the surgeon. I was given an information booklet about what to expect from the procedure and was well informed beforehand. The finances were explained really clearly and different payment options were available. On the day of surgery my eyes were quite painful for a few hours after and were very bloodshot for around two weeks. My eyesight improved immediately and the procedure was just over 30 seconds. I was given anti-inflammatory's and antibiotics which really helped, and some goggles to sleep in. My vision is now better than it ever was with contact lenses or glasses, I am really impressed with how quickly I was able to see. The only negative I have about the experience was the admin. Every appointment I booked was changed last minute (sometimes without even informing me). The clinic was often running late which would be understandable, but they tried to tell me I had my appointment time wrong (which I hadn't) and the time after this they only informed me 15 minutes before my appointment - I had already arrived after an hours drive to get there. This meant I had to wait around for an extra hour or so and pay more for parking. I would definitely recommend Optical Express to my friends as it has changed my life and I do not have any regrets. But I would say to make sure you free-up an entire day for each appointment, just incase it is changed for you last minute.

Wanted to share my recent experience of lens replacement with Optical Express Manchester. I received the most amazing service from all the team. Everything was explained fully to me at my first consultation and even though I was extremely nervous about the procedure I felt that reassured and confident that I was in safe hands I made the decision to go ahead. Usman was so professional and caring and I felt I could ask him anything and nothing was too much trouble. He was there on the day of my surgery to help look after me and ask any last minute questions and concerns. On the day of the procedure all the staff at Hulme put me at my ease and I can honestly say it has been the best thing I have done. From start to finish I found the whole process of Lasik laser eye surgery very easy. I had an initial consultation that lasted around 2 hours in total, where all tests were carried out and it was confirmed I was suitable for the treatment. Once I had decided to go ahead there was a telephone consultation with the surgeon whereby I had to confirm I had read the information provided and was aware of the risks associated with the treatment. There is lots to read and sign to say you are happy, and I understand why you would need to do so. The risks to me seemed so small that I was never in two minds about the decision. The real surprise of the treatment came on the day. So quick. Painless. And the results were instant! In the car on the way home I tried to keep my eyes closed to give them time to recover, but on the odd occasion I did open them to talk to my wife, my vision was immediately better. The following day I woke with crystal clear vision, no pain, and only a very slight feeling of irritation until I used my eye drops. I had a check up that morning where it was confirmed everything was 100% as expected, cleared to drive and continue as normal with eye drops. Nearly 2 weeks on and I am delighted with the results. Possibly the best investment I've ever made. Cannot recommend highly enough.

So far so good, the consultation to surgery process was easy to understand, with my questions being answered ahead of the date, bt also any follow up questions were met with patience on the day of LASIK. The team put me at ease once in the laser room, giving me step by steps of what would happen, and keeping conversation flowing when they could see I was nervous. The surgeon was knowledgeable, but so was everyone else I spoke to, from the vision team who were calling to discuss appointments and payments (thankyou Kyle Ellis), my first ever consultation lady (Sheena), to the team surrounding my surgeon on the actual day, everything that was done and said made me feel safe and in good hands. The actual surgery was pain free as promised, and over in a matter of minutes. The after care was efficiently explained, making sure I left knowing exactly which drops to put in when, and i left with my chaperone helping me (my eyes were sensitive to sunlight so I kept them closed most of the way home which helped) After sleeping the soreness off (if you've ever slept in contacts, it feels like that but more sore rather than dry) I was able to see without the use of glasses/contacts for the first time since I was like 13, which hasn't sunk in yet. Ive just had my follow up appointment where I've been told I already have better than driving standard vision, and that wil continue to improve as the blurriness wears off, so unelss anything goes majorly wrong over the next 12 months, I am one of those annoying people who will now forever be saying' wish I had done it sooner' and I've already had multiple friends ask me about the process and are booking their consultations soon!

Needless to say I was extremely nervous about any procedure being performed on my eyes and the possible risks of things not going well. I cannot praise the tea, in the Optical Express Manchester office enough - from the minute I arrived for my initial eye surgery they put me at ease. Thank you I am extremely pleased with the outcome of my surgery - the following morning after my first eye lens replacement surgery was done I could read a magazine on the train going back for my second eye surgery. I could not believe it. After the second eye was done things progressed even more. I experienced no problems at all and now 2 months on nearly I can confirm this is a life changing event. I went on holiday with just one pair of sunglasses which was quite liberating - glasses, contact lenses etc all left at home now! Brilliant.

Like everyone, I was concerned about the outcome of this type of surgery but all my fears were set aside when I experienced the level of attention and care I received. I had lens replacement surgery on both eyes one month ago. I have suffered no ill effects whatsoever and I am delighted with the result. I was always led to believe that there was "No pain No Gain" however this has proven to be the exception...The following day after surgery (which not in the least painful) I had 20/20 vision.... I had laser eye surgery 10 days ago at optical express. I chose the laser Idesign procedure and was absolutely dreading it! The staff put me at ease from the minute I walked through the door at my consultation. They were all so lovely and reassuring. I booked in the same day. I had phone calls from the clinic to make sure I didn't have any questions. I had my phone pre op consultation with the surgeon on the dot at the time given. And in the day of surgery I arrived early and the staff again were amazing got me seen straight away. The surgery itself was 10 times less traumatic than I expected it was literally nothing to be afraid of. Then the after care has been 100perceent amazing. I accidently rubbed my eye 4 days in and was petrified I'd caused damage. I rang the clinic they got me in straight away. Checked me over and had me go back 2 days later just to be on the safe side. And now I have 20/20 (better than) vision and I have my confidence back. Its just extremely hard getting used to not trying to find my glasses in the morning. 🤣 I really genuinely cannot thank all the staff at St John's Street enough. Every single person that I saw was just lovely! I'm quite upset that I won't be back... Well just the once for my final check up in 3 weeks. Would definately definately recommend St John Street Manchester clinic and the procedure.

I had laser eye surgery at the Manchester clinic almost a week ago and couldn't be happier with my results! The whole experience was faultless; I was seen to early to have my pre-surgery checks and then escorted upstairs to the waiting area. All of the staff including my surgeon were very pleasant and gave me multiple opportunities to ask questions which put me at ease. The surgery itself is totally pain free! Before the surgery, the team administer some local anaesthetic drops to your eyes so that they are numb throughout- the only discomfort I had was when the drops wore off, it felt as though I'd been chopping very strong onions all day! The best thing to do is to go home and sleep it off. I woke up symptom free and with pretty much perfect vision. If you're considering laser eye surgery, don't hesitate! This was my first visit to this branch due to closure of my more local store. I was extremely happy with the service and care taken from initial checking in, eye checks and help with choosing new glasses. I would not hesitate to use this branch going forward.

The people at the customer service centre were that useless it was funny, but all the staff at the Manchester unit for the actual surgery were fantastic. Lipiflow Experience at Optical Express Manchester by Jacqueline Tulley-Hawxwell. I was daunted at the thought of having the Lipiflow procedure but i need not have been.The Optometrist whom was called Salma,put me at ease immediately and was both gentle,caring and competent at applying the exacting device around my eyes. Early signs are promising following the procedure,as i was advised it can take up to 3 months for my tear ducts and glands to return to some sort of normality. I must also follow after the care advice to aide recovery. All staff at Optical Express followed Social distancing guidelines to the letter.

I had monofocal lens replacement on the 18th June for near vision and on the 19th June for distance. I could see perfectly within a few hours without any after effects I had no pain or discomfort at all. I am extremely glad I decided to go ahead with the Procedure . I have always suffered discomfort wearing glasses (earache). One of the best things I have ever done in my life.Driving my car is especially beneficial.Usman was especially helpful with anything I needed to know when I went for my checkup three months later.

Laser surgery provided is good, quick and painless, however, I find the staff at this branch are probably the most miserable people I have come across in the service sector. None of them smile, and they are often rude and dismissive if you have any concerns. They are also always behind schedule. I have not had a single appointment that is remotely close to being on time.

After wanting my eyes done for years I finally got the chance to do it, and I am so happy with my results after having my consultation I decided to go through with it got myself all booked in and just a matter of waiting, come my appointment day I felt so nervous but the staff where lovely and made me feel a little better till it came to having my eyes lasored I sat on bed and thought what am I doing but I carried on and had it done and to my relief I didn’t feel a thing was all fuss over nothing and was done in seconds, the staff afterwards makes sure your doing ok before letting me leave even the afterwards was very painless after being told I’d feel like I have grit in them it wasn’t that bad I am now 3 months gone since I had my eyes done I have 20/20 and eyes are doing great. From Jill on reception who always had a joke to Lubna who checked my eyes and always had time for a chat and then Joe my surgeon, who had a very relaxing manner and took the time to make sure you understood everything and then Jo the surgery manager who was brilliant in making sure everything went smoothly and where ever possible with a laugh and a smile.
