Had my first eye test at Keyes today. I have had glasses all my life and have been really impressed by my experience at Keyes. Karen really took the time to assess my sight and eye health fully and explained the whole process while also just being an all-round lovely person. The team were super helpful as I chose glasses, with no pressure to buy. They explained all of my options and have given me the time to consider my glasses choice. Will definitely always go back to Keyes from now on.

I am writing as a first time client of Keyes Eyecare regarding the quality of service which I have received from their staff. I am 65 years old and have been wearing specs since I was ten. I have, therefore, many years experience of opticians! Without reservation, I would like to say that I have been immensely impressed with the level of service which I have received from Keyes, in particular Olivia, who has been my main point of contact, but also Catherine and the optician carrying out the eye examination Right from my initial telephone contact with Catherine, I was delighted by the courteous and helpful manner in which she addressed me. I then met Olivia who has always been so bright, cheerful and professional, and who has dealt with my queries in a sympathetic and understanding way, not once showing any annoyance when I had to return my glasses - which I have experienced in the past. All that she was concerned about was that I was happy and satisfied with the product. Equally, the optician was very thorough, explaining what she was doing and why, and ensuring that I was comfortable. My son also came Keyes for the first time this month and on his behalf as well, I would like to commend Keyes for the level of service which all of their staff have given to both of us and to advise that we look forward to returning in the future. I have no hesitation in recommending them to you.

I’ve had really good eye care from all the Keyes team for over 10 years now – from the examinations and explaining the results, advice on spectacle design for differing purposes, and most recently free replacement Seiko lenses when my glasses were dropped and scratched. They could not have been more professional or more friendly. There’s a lot of specialist advice on offer too. I’ve always felt I am in good hands here.

After a brief look at opticians around where I live and reading up on reviews, I knew that Keyes was the one to go with. I was given first class care and attention from the actual eye examination, to the choosing of my new glasses and then kept up to date with my order as my new frames had to be made and shipped in from Denmark. I made an apt with Keyes Eyecare from a random internet search in a new area and am really glad I did! I've suffered from Irlens/Visual Stress, as well as needing standard prescription glasses for the last 2 decades. The staff here have been amazing, from registering over the phone/email during lockdown, to offering appointments, advice, and information to ensure all of my eyecare needs were fully fulfilled. (Not to mention a timely response from either phone or email, as fitted my own needs on the day!) This included a retest of the colorometry screening (at no extra cost beyond initial fee), when my original tested colour did not quite have the desired results for me. They were more than happy to go the extra mile to make sure I was happy with the result. I'm an indecisive person, but did not feel rushed at all, and with my sensory issues (related to ASD and ADHD), I was happily surprised when the lights in the test room were adjusted for my comfort, which aided me in making the correct choices etc. I was also made to feel comfortable and confident to go back and get my glasses frames fitted a bit better, after the first time resulted in not quite the right fit once home and in use. All the staff I had any interactions with, from receptionists to optometrists, made me feel instantly as if I was a long established member of the local community, whilst also showing me respect and politeness one would expect from any small business, but is still really reassuring to actually receive. I can't recommend them enough, especially if you usually find the eye tests or frame choosing/fitting of opticians visits anxiety inducing, or have previously experienced stigma or discrimination (as I have elsewhere before). Keyes Eyecare respect their customers yet still create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere within their professional environment and I really wish more small businesses shared their work ethics and approach!

My father has Macular Degeneration, through a friend I heard of new lense technology called eScoop lenses, that helped him tremendously in day to day life. On his recommendation I booked my father in with Keyes and hoped they would make a difference to him. In addition to his sight issue my father is elderly and has mobility problems. The staff could not have been more patient and accommodating. His welfare and safety was paramount to them, particularly as we were in the middle of the covid pandemic. He felt really comfortable during his appointments. The new lenses have improved his day to day living, allowing him to enjoy the simple things that had previously been lost to him. TV, seeing his own face, and the faces of his family, for the first time in a long while. Being able to make out the food on his plate. Almost eliminating the hallucinations brought about by his Charles Bonnet syndrome within the first week of wearing them. My family and I are truly grateful to the staff and the technology they introduced to my father.

Comprehensive eye examination and very knowledgeable. My 1st ever "old people glasses" (varifocals) turned out be just great, no problems whatsoever with getting used to them, thanks to knowing exactly what was on offer and what to expect. I liked Anthony's follow-up phone call to make sure I was still ok with the glasses and had not turned into an hermit :-) Recently my glasses got bent out of shape during a hospital admission and as a result they were very uncomfortable to wear. However, getting them "fixed" was no problem at all, Andrew bent them back into shape and I'm happily wearing them again. I will definitely go back for my next eye test and am very happy to recommend this optician.

As a neuropsychologist I always identified visual stress difficulties in myself. These difficulties have been with me since childhood and have burdened me greatly over the years, impacting on every aspect of my life. As a few examples: having to avoid certain rooms with complex stripes and being unable to read on some days due to letters moving around the page. While I visited numerous professionals as a teenager, nobody was able to identify an appropriate intervention that would improve my daily functioning. However,more recently I was highly recommended to visit Keyes. Upon arranging an appointment, I had a thorough assessment, including colorimetry. Not only were the team full of expert knowledge and advice, but they were able to find a colour that was able to be put into a pair of frames to ease my everyday difficulties. The results have been transformative and while I don’t wear them everyday, I couldn’t possibly be without them on the days that I do need them. They have significantly transformed my life and I thank Andrew, Katherine and the team for that. I could not recommend you all enough. My best wishes Jake

I suffer from a complex and extremely difficult to manage visual disability and I cannot thank Andrew Keyes enough for his patience, understanding, and technical knowledge in helping me. His team were great, he provided an extended guarantee on all lenses - 'I don't care how many times I have to re-do it, I want to get it right for you'... Do not be confused! My visual stress is extremely severe and to get the correct lenses takes a lot of time and patience, and he was great (nobody else knew what the problem was or how to solve it... my GP said there was nothing they could do, the hospital examined me for tumours and gave up...Andrew knew straight away!) I definitely recommend Keyes Eyecare for anybody with sore eyes, eye strain, difficulties reading... or anybody who just wants a new pair of reading specs!
