Had an eye test this afternoon, and could not fault the optometrist and the testing process. The pre-test left a fair bit to be desired, however. I'd booked online and specifically selected the 'test only' option, rather than pay the extra £10 for the digital scan. The young lady who took me through the pre-test immediately informed me that my 'eye test and scan' would cost me £35, and became somewhat frosty and disinterested when I advised her that all I wanted was the eye test and not the scan. The rest of the pre-test process was used to try and up-sell me various extras such as contact lenses and hearing tests. Do forgive me if I come across as old-fashioned, but if I am paying for a service then I do not expect to be up-sold other services that I had already declined at the time of booking.

Bought my glasses here few weeks agousing prescription from another company. No issues. I've been served by a lovely lady (can't remember the name sorry! dark ginger hair? :)). She was amazing. Would recommend to anyone. I had a small problem with my glasses for a week, couldn't get used to it and after a quick call I was given the next appointment with someone who helped me very much. The glasses felt much more comfortable afterwards and I had no issues or whatsoever with them anymore. The quality is good and price reasonable. I only give 4 stars as I think the rest of the staff should show more initiative.

Excellent service from the word go and all dealt with ‘Covid compliantly’. I paid for the additional scan which I feel, having seen how detailed it was, was very worth while. Everything was explained throughout and quite sensibly it was suggested that, as I was ordering a second pair of varifocals, I wait to see how I got on with the first pair. This proved to be ideal as this was my first pair of varifocals and I struggled to adapt to the reading aspect of these, so after a detailed & patient explanation by Robert of options available I had a slightly amended second pair which fitted my reading and computer use perfectly.

I visited the St Stephens branch of Specsavers with my 14 year old daughter few days ago on Sat Mar 6. We were really impressed with the customer service and care we received from Claudia. She was wonderful, very patient and kind helping my daughter select the correct frames for her new lenses. She gave useful advice in helping to narrow down the frames. She also suggested anti-fog wipes (which my daughter is finding SO useful) as now she's back in school from today and secondary school children have to wear a mask and without these anti-fog wipes my daughter would have struggled as they would have made her glasses fog up. Claudia also repaired the current pair of glasses my daughter had on her - so she could continue to use them, till her new ones are ready next week. Huge thanks to Claudia for a brilliant, smooth and pleasant customer service experience.

After the incompetence and dreadful customer service at Longwater Specsavers, I was so pleased with st stephens, the optician called me immediately, discussed my issues and realised he needed to see me straight away, staff were friendly and helpful, didn't have to wait very long, good test and the optician carried out a thorough check. I will use this store in future and suggest Specsavers carry out retraining at Longwater before they have a situation where a customer is turned away from an emergency appointment simply because their prescription is 4 months out of date and their condition deteriorates rapidly. I also suggest that they look at their emails within a day or so of receipt not a week later on the morning of the appointment. Returning to st Stephens, excellent all round experience and treatment. Very warm and welcoming staff! It was extremely busy when we arrived (we booked online and took literally 5 mins to do). All staff had huge smile on their faces and was so professional and lovely. This was also my very first eye test. Nothing was rushed and were more than happy to ask how you have been and listened to any concerns. I would highly recommend this place for eye tests and to purchase glasses also, again when purchasing they are there to help with everything.

Lovely store! Staff is so helpful. Went to have an eye test for the first time in years and I was a bit nervous. But they made me feel very comfortable and reassured me. Staff also helped me to find 2 pairs of glasses to fit my face shape without any pressure on time (I took a very long time lol!). The store is very clean and organised well. Great choice on frames for all price ranges! Even their own low budget frames look very trendy and there's loads of extras on offer at great prices. Total 5 star store! :)

All of the staff were pleasant and attentive. I was quickly welcomed and seated and given a questionaire. Then directed through to have my eye pressure and eyes and glasses read. The equipment was disinfected before I was seated and the optician was very friendly and sociable. Then seated in the waiting area again. The optometrist was very reassuring, patient and also helpful in indentifying things and explaining things. I especially found it helpful that he gave me things to focus on rather than trying to just look up- down or side to side. (I often feel disorientated when my eyes are being examined so nice to know where to rest my eyes) The optician who helped me find my new glasses was extremely helpful. The software they used to help identify my faceshape was such an amazing aid. I often feel very lost not being able to see properly and feel overwhelmed with the choice and styles. The software then selected some styles catagorised by what sort of look you were going for. Then she went off to choose some styles based on my face map and my preferences. She surprised me with some of the choices- I found after trying them on, I really loved. The difficult thing was picking which one was the ultimate favourite! She took photos for me to compare from multiple angles and even under different lighting. She then ran through the costs and options for my lenses with me and was incredibly patient and encouraging throughout. All of the staff seem to work hard yet it appeared effortless to accommodate my needs and it felt very comfortable. Nothing felt like it was too much trouble. They helped me feel more confident in something I find very daunting and anxiety inducing with my indescisiveness. The phone conversations were also pleasant- they rang me back to make sure everything was okay after I called up, hesitated and hung up (before it went through properly) as I was awkwardly in two minds about which glasses I liked best. I am now feeling very sure and happy and looking forward to getting my new glasses. I thouroughly reccommend Specsavers, St Stephens st.

Attended specsavers with my 8 year old at the weekend. Staff were professional and attentive. We picked out my son's glasses beforehand on the website and a lovely lady, Lorna, assisted in the shop (St Stephens). Also there are measures in place for Covid, hand sanitizer by the entrance and regular cleaning. We have been using Specsavers for years and won't go anywhere else.

Friendly enough staff depending on who you get. An older woman who saw to me on one visit was very abrubt with me. Does feel but like you are on a conveyor belt and you could never accuse it of feeling like a personal service. I ended up returning my glasses as I was getting headaches and going somewhere else. Since found my prescription was wrong. Maybe if everything didn't feel like it was busy busy rush rush things might be different. And let's not forget that initially my glasses were made up with the wrong type lenses so it involved a totally wasted journey to collect them. Maybe check the glasses BEFORE the appointment to arrange collection.
