20 weeks post surgery - Multifocal lenses replacements - Highly recommend the MANTA SLEEP mask system! Eye mask that’s soft & adjustable to your own face, comfortable to sleep in, stays put & the eye pads are not ‘on’ your eyes so you can open & close your eyes inside the mask. It also has additional hot & cold pads if your eyes need any treatments.

Went to a different optician to have my eyes examined as I knew my eyesight was deteriorating, to be told (in a very short manner) at the end... "well yes, you do have cataracts, but don't worry about it", so I decided to explore my options. I booked an appointment at Optical Express in Plymouth and the whole experience could not have been more different. The staff were fabulous, Sam and Nicole put me at ease, talked me through everything thoroughly, reassured me and gave me loads of options.... I could not have been happier with my experience, and in fact left feeling really excited that I could go ahead and book surgery to not only remove the cataracts but correct my vision. I cannot praise the staff enough! They made me feel welcome and comfortable while maintain all their professional standards. I certainly didn't feel like 'just another patient' being herded through. They answered all my questions and were obviously very knowledgeable - quite important when dealing with sight! When I went back for my post surgery check up they were just as brilliant, which was great as with some companies once they've had your money they stop putting in the same level of effort. Not so these guys! I was so impressed with the procedure and the pre-op and post-op care that I've persuaded my sister to see if she can have the surgery! Thank you Plymouth team!

After booking with Optimax and having lengthy times for a consultation and months for surgery, I was able to book on Tuesday night for an appointment Thursday the same week. First thing Wednesday I received a call to confirm all the details. Upon arrival to the clinic I was greeted by a friendly team. Bekki who dealt with me was absolutely incredible, so personable. Paul was also great but Bekki is the star of that store. She went above and beyond, an amazing asset to your company.

Hello., I’m a 50 year old male, HGV driver that like to run and avid downhill mountain bike. I enquired about having eye surgery because wearing glasses was impairing my ability in my sports and at time my work. So I’d like to share my experiences and feelings on my journey with Optical Express having just had lens replacement surgery. My journey started on the 30 Sept 21 when I had my first appointment with Optical Express and was invited along to the PLymouth branch. All the staff at Plymouth were fabulous and welcoming and made me feel at ease. My initial appointment was with Sarah Pease, completing some of the initial paperwork, Sarah was very bubbly and welcoming which set the tone for my appointment, after completing some eye examination on different equipment before seeing the optometrist, “Nicole” to go through my options and to see if I was able to have corrective eye surgery. It was explained to me that lens replacement surgery would suit my requirement better. After considering all my options including the price, I decided to go ahead. Nicole was very reassuring and answered the question I had in a way that I could understand. You are given paperwork to read, initial and sign. I found that some of this was quite daunting and made me feel uneasy, however with a few telephone conversation with the Sam and Beth at the Plymouth office were able to explain to me in layman’s terms what I needed to know. The day of my surgery 25 October 21, I had to travel to Exeter for my surgery. (With company) My feelings on this day were relaxed and looking forward to having my surgery, once again I went through a similar process as I had at the Plymouth branch, completing eye examinations and tests. Then I met my surgeon, who told me I was a good candidate and would see him shortly for my procedure. Once the procedure began I had some problems with relaxing and my natural instinct was to squeeze up my eye. Dr Manu was very calming and said that he could stop the procedure and I could have it done at a later date with a sedative but I asked him to continue. Another procedure was performed to enable my eye to relax and had a successful procedure carried out on my right eye. I was then given eye drops and explained when and how to administrate these drops and a tablet. Although I was extremely upset with myself not having surgery on my left eye. I was invited to have the procedure completed on my left eye at Optical Express Bristol, due to having the extra procedure on my right eye. My experience at Bristol was very different. I was still calm and relaxed, grateful to be able to have the procedure carried out. They carried out the same procedure as my right eye and it felt I was in theatre for about 15 to 20 mins and had another successful outcome. While staring at the bright light when having the procedure you see nothing, its like looking through a kaleidoscope, you may feel a little pressure at times. Then the cold water irrigation which is a nice and soothing experience then a few minutes later your told all’s good, successful procedure. The worst parts for me was having the clamp put in place but maybe this is because I kept squeezing up my eye. THE OUT COME for me its “AMAZING” its like Ultra HD , I’m only post op 2 days in my right and 1 day in my left. I have better than 20:20 vision. I would highly recommend this procedure to those that are considering improving their vision.. I would be happy to discus my procedure to collaborate the truth of my experience. So I've recently had surgery with optical express, I cant express the difference in my vision now, I had Astigmatism and was long sighted, not anymore! The initial consultation was very informative and after an initial round of tests they will tell you there and then if they think you are suitable for the procedure, they make it very clear that not everyone can have this surgery and also make it clear that on the day if the surgeon isn't happy with anything at all then you will get a full refund, which is reassuring. They offered me a range of appointment dates and locations to sort out a plan than suited me. The procedure took around 15 minutes from start to finish, was pain free although obviously a little uncomfortable as after all, you are having your eyes lasered. I had obvious discomfort for the rest of the day but that but went home and had a good night sleep. The following morning and everyday since then, well I honestly can't put into words the difference that it's made. You simply can't describe it, being able to see like you've never even imagined. I'm 5 weeks from the surgery now and although I still haven't fully healed apparently I can't even imagine my sight getting even better. I couldn't recommend this enough if your sat on the fence, which I was for a few years, go for it, you won't believe the results. I also got a decent discount being ex services aswell which was ideal!

From my first visit to discuss lens replacement surgery and the aftercare thereafter the team in Plymouth have been brilliant. At my initial consultation Paul the optometrist explained every part of the lens replacement surgery process and the aftercare thereafter. Since having the lens replacement surgery done 4 weeks ago, the team in Plymouth have been so supportive with their aftercare. I would recommend optical express to everyone, especially the Plymouth branch, words cannot express my thanks to Paul the Optometrist, he is brilliant.

Laser eye surgery is something I've had on my mind for many years. At the end of last year I took the plunge and made contact with optical express who were excellent from start to finish. In December last year they arranged my consultation for January. Everything went excellent and the staff at the plymouth branch were truly professional and kind. I was eligible for eye surgery. I was booked in for February and can honestly say its the best money I have ever spent. From wearing contact lenses and glasses for the last 20 or so years it became a decision Im so glad I made. The treatment and aftercare are by far the best I've ever experienced and only after a week of having lasek surgery my vision is the best I've ever had. Even with my glasses or contacts I couldn't see this well. After my 1st aftercare appointment after 5 days my eye sight was tested for driving standards and I far passed that. I was hoping for 20/20 vision by the end of my healing process which can take upto a month but already in 5 days I have 20/16 vision and nearly 20/12. My vision after a week is soo clear and everything is soo sharp. I would like to thank everyone at optical express for their positive attitudes and professional manners and knowledge.

I had a great experience with optical express despite some set backs (I required approval from my GP but had forgotten to retrieve it - completely my fault). Although it is quite expensive, it is great to not have to rely on glasses or contact lenses, and it actually works out cheaper than contact lenses long term. Ideally would like to have had the surgery carried out in Plymouth to avoid travel and hotel costs. Cannot fault them for this though. Overall a great experience. Staff were very helpful and friendly all throughout.

Great service and results. We did a great deal of research both in UK and abroad. We felt most comfortable with Optical Express, in particular their staff in the Plymouth office who explained everything clearly and put us at ease. They were thorough and professional. We also researched our surgeon Dr Manu Mathew and were impressed with his CV and considerable experience. We opted for the multifocal lens replacement and had the procedure Jan 11th 2020. We are now a week and a half post procedure and the results are excellent, and we expect our sight to get even better over the coming weeks and months. Eye surgery was a big decision for us but we are both very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend Optical Express.

Unfortunately my surgery was cancelled with 24hours notice as they had forgotten to give me antibiotic drops for 2 weeks prior to the surgery . I am sixty-six and have needed to wear glasses since I was five years old. I am severely short-sighted and have an astigmatism. Recent glasses have had to be bi-focal and with my poor eyesight I always need super thin lenses in my glasses. I was recently told that I am getting cataracts, so I looked into ways to repair the cataracts privately. Following an interesting and informative pre-op discussion with Optical Express in Plymouth, this June I had eye surgery in Exeter. Because of my age we decided to go for two intra-occular lenses – yes – not the cornea at the front, it’s that bit behind the iris and pupil. That did sound a bit scary, but it was fine. I wouldn’t want to do the op every day and I would strongly recommend doing both eyes at the same surgery. There was no pain during the op at all, that night was a little uncomfortable but not painful. The next day I had a check up in Exeter and within a few days I was driving again. It has now been two months and I have had regular check ups in Plymouth. My myopia (short-sightedness) is completely cured, my astigmatism is cured and my night driving is much easier. Although I can read small print now, I am warned that I may possibly need reading glasses as I get older, they can’t guarantee that I will not. For now, I am delighted, I have better than 20/20 vision and the freedom of no glasses is just wonderful. I would recommend this surgery to everyone in my position wholeheartedly and thank my husband for paying for the op.
