I received a lovely big parcel from the Spectacle Factory this morning and have just put my new Reykjavik Eye titanium frames on fitted with top of the range Zeiss Varifocal Individual lenses - I can now see properly for the first time in living memory - they just work and were like night and day in comparison to the glasses I previously had on! Just incredible and testament to the investment, professionalism and passion that Robert and the team have put into the Spectacle Factory! I originally came across the Spectacle Factory purely by chance on YouTube when researching what might be the best varifocal lenses, but was slightly disappointed they were not located a bit closer to where I live in North Yorkshire! I have to say The Spectacle Factory was totally worth the journey across the Pennines from North Yorkshire over to Preston. The specialist Zeiss facilities, including the incredible Visufit 1000, as well as the i.Profiler both contributed to getting my varifocal lenses pin point accurate and a far cry from the hit and miss method using a felt pen that I had previously experienced elsewhere! The service I received during my visit, which lasted around 4 hours was incredible. Robert is highly knowledgeable when it comes to glasses frames and even more importantly, lenses and makes a point of getting to know you to ensure you have the right type of lenses/frames for your lifestyle. However, technology is one thing, but if it is not in safe/professionally qualified hands, then it is potentially wasted and I must say special mention should go to the optician, Aziza who spent a long time with me, double, triple and even more checking my eyesight. Aziza had incredibly high tech equipment for scanning my eyes and was so thorough in all of her deliberations. To say I am pleased, is a massive understatement, though I am slightly overwhelmed as I cannot wear all my new spectacles at once - I am particularly excited to try the McClaren 3D printed frames with Zeiss Drivesafe lenses on a long journey in my car! The Herbert and Walter sunglasses (made in England) are a work of art and again, I cannot wait to be able to go for a walk outside in the sun to test them out. To conclude I would say, watch some of Robert’s videos on YouTube to get a better idea of how refreshingly different they are to traditional high street based opticians. I now understand the importance of having different spectacles for different occasions, just as we do with clothing which typically we might spend a lot more on over a lifetime. At the end of the day how much do you value your eyesight and ensuring you have the best possible eye health and vision. PS for electric vehicle owners, The Spectacle Factory even has a complimentary dedicated charger in the customer carpark - icing on an already very delicious cake!

My husband lost his glasses last week and is unable to drive without them. As we were about to go away for the weekend (and my husband was driving), I didn't have time to get a replacement pair from my usual opticians. I needed a pair same day. I phoned The Spectacle Factory and was told that if I emailed the prescription to them they would see if they had lenses in stock and, if so, they could make up a new pair that day. Having sent the prescription through, my husband made his way to the shop to select frames and less than an hour later he had a new set of glasses. They had loads of frames to choose from, from regular to designer styles. My husband chose a really nice pair of very reasonably priced glasses which also came with free slide on sunglasses. The customer service was amazing. Everyone at the company from those who answered the phones through to the guy who helped me choose my frames were absolutely lovely and so helpful. I will definitely use The Spectacle Factory again and can't thank them enough for saving my weekend away!!

I first came across The Spectacle Factory from Robert's helpful YouTube videos. I live about an hour away, so it's not the most local optician for me - but has been absolutely worth making the journey for. I honestly can't praise The Spectacle Factory and their staff highly enough. I had some quite specific needs for my glasses, and encountered one or two difficulties along the way. At every stage, Robert and his entire team went above and beyond to ensure I got lenses and frames that I'm really comfortable with. Communication has been great throughout, professional knowledge and expertise is first-class, and the overall level of customer service is exceptional. This is a company that genuinely cares about the holistic experience of their customers which, in my experience, is rare - and is therefore something to value and share with other people.

Do yourselves a favour and call in SF or drop Robert a line on instagram on SF account and thank me later :). I work for the NHS and suffered from RHS during covid pandemic and lost my left eye functionality and confidence took big hit. After the surgery its better than before but not quite the same. So I thought couldn't hurt, and started looking online and fortunately stumbled upon SF and found Robert and contacted him if he can help after I explained my situation. Robert went above and beyond and i am using the latter not as an idiom I mean literally above and beyond. In no time I received my perfect pair of specs that I now wear at work/home/outside that perfectly not only hide my scars from surgery but also look cool, everyone loves them and i got so many compliments which is boost for my knackered confidence too. My wife and I have been dealing with Robert for a number of years now and always look forward to our visits to the spectacle factory knowing how well we are going to be looked after from rush appointments for replacement sunglasses just before a holiday after realizing old ones were broken to updating styles. Robert knows your own personal preferences and pre selects a selection of glasses for you to view before you arrive how he does this with so many customers I don’t know but his choices are always spot on. Think as a couple we are now on 8 pairs of glasses from Robert and the customer service and most importantly to me is the honest and genuine care given matched by his passion and detailed product knowledge in every aspect when choosing the right lenses with you. The service at The Spectacle Factory from the minute I started my first appointment till I picked up my glasses was attentive, efficient, and enjoyable. I sipped coffee while a lovely staff member chose glasses to suit me. I was blown away by the quality and style and I was spoiled for choice. I chose variofocals and cannot believe how they needed no adjustment and I felt comfortable straightaway. I was so pleased with my new ‘Gucci’ glasses that I took Robert up on the offer of half price lenses,if I purchased another pair within six weeks. I now have a spare pair that came with magnetic clip on sunglasses !!!! What a bonus ! Cannot praise Robert and his team highly enough and recommend them to anyone and everyone I meet !!!!

I visited in late March after discovering the store's YouTube channel of the same name in January. They do a deal with a local hotel around 9 miles away (Stanley House, Mellor) with the price of your stay offset against The Spectacle Factory's bill, which is great, but only recommended if you're driving. It's fair to say that walking up and down the hill to Stanley House several times near enough ruined me and I considered sleeping in a farmer's field on more than 1 occasion, such was the effort it took, but the hotel itself is immaculate and specialises in spa treatments, which in hindsight I should have gone for to alleviate the problem of my legs turning into jelly. Whatever you do, DO NOT follow Google Maps' advice and attempt to walk across the field to the hotel, as although the terrain looks like grass, it was more akin to quicksand and my wheelie case and I had that sinking feeling before switching to the safety of the tarmac and the steep climb ahead... Moving on, The Spectacle Factory itself is tucked away on an unassuming industrial estate in Bamber Bridge near Preston, but when you enter is very much a boutique opticians and looks the part with a California dispensary vibe, aesthetically speaking. They were happy to reglaze 2 frames I brought in and I'm very pleased with the results and even more so with the rimless pair from Reykjavik Eyes, a brand they showcase with good reason. I'm still getting used to the lightness and flexibility of the frames but they fit like a glove and look amazing. The 3 pairs were delivered in 3 weeks, which is bang on the estimate given at the time of my visit. I received great service throughout from Mandi, who helped with arranging my stay and dispatching the order and from the owner Robert, who comes across very much like his YouTube persona, knowledgeable and friendly. As with everything in life, you pay for what you get, but I'm really happy with my 3 pairs, which may be the best I've ever owned in terms of clarity. The Spectacle Factory's selection of glasses and lenses from many designer as well as under-the-radar, independently manufactured optical brands, is virtually second to none. Robert is clearly a driven guy with a passion for glasses and has done a great job of cementing the store's position as a leading national independent optician via the YouTube channel, which is full of videos giving good advice, also highlighting trends and technology in eyewear and as he explained, has restored the fortunes of the business since the start of the C19 pandemic in 2020, for which I congratulate him. Thanks also to Robert for giving me a lift to the station, something you'd never get at Boots or Vision Express, after my appointment. I enjoyed sitting in his convertible and feeling the spring breeze on my shaved head, I must say! Joking aside, on the basis of my recent trip, I would recommend a visit in person to The Spectacle Factory to ensure you get the best fit, but their online service also seems excellent. I have no doubt I'll be back again.

Purchased a pair of glasses and found it to be a nightmare getting prescription lenses for a rimless pair! After doing some online research I came across The Spectacle Factory in Preston on Youtube with Rob producing multiple videos, being extremely informative on different lenses, styles etc. Decided I would take a chance as this branch has an instore lab and facilities to glaze etc. The staff were great and very helpful from me organising my visit and then Rob had dealt with me personally on the day, the hospitality was 10/10. But there are just a Sunglasses sadly I can wear them occasionally but I really like the style 😎 I didn't know they were aviator style (I think) After you mentioned which style goes fine with me (Aviator style) I was like...Hmmm this guy 👦I a magician 🎩 or what.!🤭 And now I'm happy because You gonna do your magic making a prescription glasses with the style I like . Good job 👏 So I picked the Cartier the one on the picture I sent you. But I have a question There are to big in order to be a prescription glasses? Well you are the magician 🎩 I really trust you.!! By far the best opticians I have experienced and having worn glasses for as long as I can remember, I'm 23, I will not go anywhere else now. Customer service is second to none, I had a fault with a previous pair of glasses, sent away and replaced FoC. Another pair, very recently, needed repairing that was done immediately another client was dealt with. I also wanted sunglasses for sport, every other 'opticians' (boots, specsavers et al) all said its impossible with my prescription, Spectacle Factory on the other hand sorted said it wasn't a problem and I have the sunglasses I wanted.

What can I say? I’ve never had an Optician appointment like this before. Right from the very start there was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and being offered tea or coffee was totally new for this type of appointment. The eye test itself was quite familiar with the exception of one machine which improves on what the Optician has already recommended. I was then introduced to Robert, got a cup of tea and then the fun starts!!! What a great experience it was trying different glasses on that Robert had collected for me, based on information I had given him about myself and my lifestyle. Discovered yourselves on Youtube from the numerous informative content which was posted. Had some lenses which i needed fitted into some frames so reached out via Instagram. Rob was extremely helpful with advice (i probably asked a few too many questions!) and constantly just wanted to help me. Was a bit far to travel myself so arranged delivery to and from the location and the new glasses were back with me within 72 hours! I can't recommend The Spectacle Factory enough. I visited The Spectacle Factory as they were suggested to me by my place of work, I had no expectations and it was my first test in over 8 years. From the moment I walked through the door I was greeted and made to feel welcome, refreshments were offered and I was told that someone would be with me shortly. I decided to look around at the frames they had on display, they certainly cater to a larger budget than some of the big name high street stores do, initially I was put off by this and expected to go elsewhere to get my frames. After going through the test, with each step being explained in detail to me to help me feel comfortable, I decided that I would rather support this company, than take my business elsewhere, even if it did mean spending a bit more than I had budgeted for. After the test was completed it was confirmed that I needed glasses to correct my vision, I was introduced to Robert who was more than ready to listen to me and direct me to his best recommendations. I had noticed a few pairs that appealed to me and suited my requirements whilst browsing before my test, Robert was quick to follow me over, asked me to try on the frames that I liked the most and was quick to support this choice. As I am in the process of getting a motorcycle, it was important for me to consider this in the design of the frames. The pair I picked first were what I would consider pricey, roughly £500, for some perspective I had hoped to pay around £150, maybe budging up to £250 for the right pair, I quickly laughed and took them off, put them down as to not damage them and took a step back! Robert then pointed out a couple of designs that were within budget, although after trying these, I wasn't impressed, the first pair had blown me aware, they fit like a glove, would fit in a helmet, seemed durable and most of all, very stylish. With no pressure from Robert I decided to take the plunge and go for the more expensive pair. I was not pressured as other stores can do, it was my choice to make. Robert informed me that they stocked the lenses and the frames and that I would be able to take the glasses home with me later that day, I didn't expect this as I had previously waited over a month from a nation wide chain, bonkers that this single store can provide a superior service, but they can, it's amazing. I was advised to return in an hours time and the glasses will be ready to collect, I went about my day and returned after around an hour. Robert was quick to greet me and informed me that there had been a delay and that the glasses were not ready yet, I was glad that he had noticed that the quality was not perfect and wanted to take the extra time to make sure my order was complete to the highest standard. I was told to it would take another half hour, he suggested a walk around and pointed out a path next to the building. After returning my glasses were complete and Robert took me to check them, explained how to care for them and that I had a service booked for 6 months time where they would clean the glasses and perform any maintenance required. I didn't expect this and it was a pleasant surprise that made me feel more comfortable with blowing my budget on an amazing pair of glasses, tailored for me. All in all, I've had an amazing experience at The Spectacle Factory and I would highly recommend them to anyone, even if you only need a test! A couple of further points. Firstly there were not many other customers at the times I was there, but I could see that they offer the same level of service to all of their customers, regardless of budget or any other factor. Secondly my partner was with me, she has worked in this industry and was amazed by The Spectacle Factory. Finally, Robert was very engaging and was keen to talk to me like a person, after an eternity in lockdown, I'm still very rusty and may have came across as shy, Robert was amazing though and I appreciate the effort he goes to to make his customers feel at home.

First got a pair of drive wear glasses through the spectacle factory many years ago now and Robert was so good with my hospital prescription. They were perfect for me. I have since been taken out of my comfort zone by the team with me going for a pair of blue glasses that have been completely different to what I would usually go for. It is not the cheapest opticians to visit, but you are guaranteed quality of up to date frames, the best lenses available and a quality service thoughout and a regular maintenance check on your glasses if required. I always tease Robert that he likes taking my money off me, but I wouldn't have it any other way., I know that I'm certain to be able to maintain good sight, and you can't put a price on that. I brought my daughters in recently for their first eye tests and I was so impressed with how patient and thorough all the staff were with us. Trying to get a four year old to sit still enough for the scans was very difficult but Ben tried his best and didn’t seem to let it phase him. Claire was wonderful during the eye test itself, employing my 6 year old to be her assistant and making it fun for them both. Not being a glasses wearer myself, I was quite overwhelmed when I was told my 6 year old needed glasses, but Robert helped me to understand what her prescription meant and made sure that her beautiful new glasses fit her just right! Visited the Spectacle Factory a couple of weeks ago for the first time. James did my eye test and was very thorough and informative. Chose a pair of glasses afterwards with the help of another member of staff. Great customer service. I have always gone to high street opticians before and never sure what glasses suit me. Fantastic !! 10 years back I noticed my eyes had stopped doing exactly what I expected of them !, so I visited one of the large group eye 'specialists' ?! found on many high streets up & down the country. I had my test, paid my money & for the next 6 months struggled with my eyewear. We heard about The Spectacle Factory through a friend at football, so when my wife's test was due (6 months later), we visited the shop in Bamber Bridge - The best decision re eyewear & care that we have made. Robert, James & the team are superb from the moment you phone to book your appointment. Their knowledge, expertise, enthusiasm, attention to detail & overall customer care are second to none (in any industry), from the initial welcome, through the tests, fitting, & after sales they are to be applauded, nothing is too much trouble, you are never pressured, never pushed for time & most of all treated and listened to as an individual through out each visit. We moved out of the area some 6 years ago and tried a local (to us) optician just the once, but got no further than the initial visit - we have since travelled back to The Spectacle Factory ever since - These guys are that good !! We visited yesterday, both needing new prescriptions & eyewear, were greeted promptly & enthusiastically & made to feel welcome as always in the immaculately clean, spacious, bright & comfortable showroom. The team are reassuringly COVID aware & have comfortable protocols in place which do not detract from the usual experience or care. Absolutely fantastic service from beginning to end. The attention to detail and care from all the staff at The Spectacle Factory is impeccable. Such a warm and caring family environment. I was very impressed with their use of the latest modern technology ensuring you get the best out of your glasses and their selection of frames is incredible, there is something there to suit everyone. I first used the Spectacle Factory a couple of years ago, when I took some old Oakley sunglasses with perished lenses to them to see if they could be converted into reading glasses, as Specsavers were not interested in doing them. I dealt with Robert, who was friendly, very knowledgeable and very professional. he was also passionate about his profession. Converting the sunglasses was not a problem, I left them with him and collected them about a week later. When collected them, I was served by another member of staff who was as friendly too. I returned this week to purchase some new Smith Optics cycling glasses. I thought I’d leave my review until my 2 pairs of glasses had been thoroughly tested and I was completely comfortable with them. I found The Spectacle Factory because I’d had an eye test at a well known chemist chain who had recommended varifocals. I started doing research about them and discovered a plethora of different lense options. I stumbled across Robert’s YouTube guidance video and was impressed with the explanations & advice within them. I watched several of his videos about a variety of eye-wear based things. His premises was about 40 minutes drive from my house, and I thought that I would get advice and guidance for me, rather than being “sold to” by my original optician. So I contacted them via email initially explaining the situation. I received a reply within 24 hours and arranged an appointment. The team there have thought out clearly their COVID secure policies and I felt safe and comfortable throughout my consultation with Robert. The store is immaculately clean. I received proper advice and guidance along with a conclusion that varifocals were not required. Robert explained everything clearly and had some clever pieces of kit that actually provided me with a real insight as to what the impact of differing types of lenses would have using a virtual world. Robert treated me with kindness and patience. I explained further my sensitivity to light and he came up with a solution in sunglasses that was just perfect. I ordered every day glasses and sunglasses. Again Robert used some high-tech equipment to ensure the measurements were perfect and he tailored the glasses I’d chosen to the photos obtained via the equipment. This wasn’t done by eye, as I’d experienced at prior opticians. This was logically measured by machine and then fine tuned on the computer. The glasses really were “made to measure”. Upon my second visit to the store to collect the glasses (by now I’m quite excited to pick them up) I was greeted with the same positive customer service. Robert made sure that both sets of glasses fitted perfectly and that I was fully comfortable wearing them. This was the first pair of glasses that I’d ever had that actually fit me really well. My everyday glasses are great. I almost forget they are there. Which is what I want! The recommendation that Robert had made to have a slight area to the glass lenses enhanced for reading (without being full varifocals) has been incredibly helpful, for work especially. But my favourites are the sunglasses. When driving or just wondering around, the graduated dark to light shading that then reacts to sunlight to go fully dark has been incredibly helpful. On the (nowadays rare) occasion I pop into a shop on a bright day I don’t immediately have to switch glasses over. The bottom part of the lenses “clear” quickly and allow me to see inside just as well. Overall I really value the advice and guidance I was given by Robert. That was what I was seeking initially and certainly received when meeting in person. My glasses are wonderful and I have been wearing them for several weeks now in a wide variety of weather conditions. So if you want advice and guidance from an optician without being “sold to” The Spectacle Factory will provide that. So thank you to Robert and his team.

Living some 300 miles from The Spectacle Factory visiting was not an option for me, however, after checking all the reviews I decided not only to buy my J.F. Rey frames (seen on an online video by Robert) but also have my Zeiss smart life progressive lenses made by them. I had no worries. After my glasses broke called to Spectacle Factory on Saturday, I was desperate for a replacement pair of glasses. I was promised a pair of replacement varifocal by the following Wednesday with transitional lenses. Replacement glasses delivered Wednesday afternoon , perfect vision, perfect fit. I must also say all the staff very helpful and polite and a pleasure to deal with. Would I recommend the spectacle factory. That is a big YES. would you believe it my new glasses damaged after two months. Called Spectacle factory with them on Saturday and was told they had to go away 1st thing Monday. My problem now I have no decent glasses to get me around, to the Spectacle Factory no problem. They very kindly agreed to put a single vision lens into an old but decent frame I have , at a very very reasonable price, all done within the hour, I am now able to at least carry on with the days activities with no problems. its one of the best decisions i have made recently. i was actually recommended the spectacle factory by another surgeon at the hospital I work i have had an adventurous life with my eye with having one that was 'lazy' as a child to one that i sustained a corneal tear through a game of cricket i have always strived to find what is best within eyewear as its essential to me as a surgeon Rob knew what he was talking about and the equipment they own and use does add another layer of accuracy and finesse to getting the right prescription and James adds the human checks that are still necessary to get the balance between doing what the machine tells you and what the patient needs i ended up getting some specially made zeiss lenses (of glass rather than plastic) with a fixed focal length of 0.5m to make operating on people easier and they have been fab recommend the Bamber Bridge branch and the people that work there highly

Visited as a "walk in" following an underwhelming dealing with a high street optician. Our 6 year old required his first pair of glasses and we had not found a suitable/nice pair at the original optician. A couple of years’ ago, I developed eye migraine related issues. I would get migraine type symptoms from mobile phones, tablets, computer screens, and indoor lighting. Having previously struggled to find a solution. I made a chance call to the Spectacle Factory, Rob answered the phone, and with confidence offered me a few solutions. I just want to say thanks to the great people at The Spectacle Factory, in Bamber Bridge, for sorting out my eye care needs. Not having worn glasses for long, having to select what looks good for you and what lenses are best suited can be bewildering. Not so at The Spectacle Factory! From a thorough eye exam, to choosing the best frame for my face and the lenses most suited to my needs, you're taken through all the options without feeling under any pressure. They even made me a brew too! You even get a digital calibration of your frames/lenses, so your glasses will be designed specifically for you and fit perfectly first time - very impressive! I purchased specs with both single vision and varifocal lenses, the single vision were ready the same day [fantastic!], whilst the varifocals took less than a week, even though the lenses had to be specially made up for me. Oh yeah, the price didn't break the bank either, so I know where I'll be going when I need another eye test or pair of specs. A big thumbs-up, totally recommended.

The staff always greet you in a friendly manner and usually offer a coffee which is always accepted, the service is simply second to none and attention to detail is the benchmark. I always use The Spectacle Factory for all of my optical requirements and will continue to do so in future.

I used to wear bi_focals as I have a complex prescription. Short and long sighted with prism lenses. Discussed the options with Ruth and Rob went for varifocals as I use a computer for work. Was unsure at first were the varifocals with the extra ?? Absolutely after a couple of weeks getting used to the initial delay from my eyes getting used to the new lenses I can say they are fantastic. No more sore neck if you use a computer and west bifocals you will know what I mean. No more looking down my nose when I read. Cost more take a while to acclimatise but an absolute must have for me now. Thank you Ruth and Rob
