Whole experience of lens replacement surgery was extremely good from start to finish. Every member of the staff was polite, considerate and caring. All my eye scans at the assessment stage were emailed to me automatically (not sure how useful that was, but it was impressive!) All that was done to me was explained carefully first, and the actual procedure was painless and not nearly as scary as I was expecting. I had a checkup the following day and there are further checks later. I would certainly recommend this particular branch to anyone for a good experience of eye surgery. And finally two days on from surgery and my sight is brilliant and I’m thrilled!

I had lens replacement on Tuesday 25th October and things couldn’t have gone better. From arrival through to surgery and departure the extensive team in Southampton that saw me through my nervy experience were all excellent. The surgery is a very strange experience but it was painless and lasted only around 20 minutes. The outcome for me was amazing! During the first day I experienced some discomfort and minor headaches but paracetamol and eye drops did their job. I saw halo’s on the first evening after surgery but by the following morning these had gone and my vision was already 20:20 and I could read and see long distance - the surgery already seemed well worth it - truly life changing! I am on day 3 and whilst my eyes are a little sore it is nothing major and totally manageable. Having the surgery was a big decision but is also one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thanks to the whole team at Optical Express Southampton for the life changing treatment and fantastic service you have given me!

This was most definitely the best thing I’ve ever done! I’m only on day 4 and my distance vision is absolutely brilliant, my near vision is catching up, light sensitivity has more or less gone, but still wearing sunglasses to protect my eyes. Surgery was far less scary than I thought it would be, ALL the staff are so caring and patient, they really do care, the only thing I will say, wear something warm in surgery, lying there for 20 mins or so, it gets really cold! 🥶 if still deliberating DO IT! It really is life changing, my quality of life has improved immensely, I’ve just given 8 pairs of glasses to charity so other people can benefit the joy of sight as well!

I’ve just been to Optical Express in Southampton for an assessment on whether I’m suitable for laser or lens surgery to correct my vision. The whole experience was beautifully handled by the staff. Rebecca was absolutely brilliant. She took me through all the preliminary checks and eye photos. There is some amazing technology involved in the full and thorough checks they do. The musical chairs syndrome in the examination room was a light hearted bit of fun as we moved from machine to machine for all the checks. Far more in depth than usual opticians checks are done as they are potentially looking at surgery on your eyes. I must say the experience was not unpleasant in any way. After my preliminary checks Rebecca handed me over to the optometrist, who again, was very thorough and professional. Explaining everything clearly as she went along. This thorough examination has uncovered very early stages of an eye condition called Fuchs Dystrophy in my left eye. For this alone I am so glad the check up was so detailed. Whilst nothing to worry about at the moment, there I things I can do to slow down the onset of what can become a vision impairment now that I know about it. Advice of what I can do was given straight away. Even though I’m not suitable for laser or lens surgery I want to say a big thank you to all at Optical Express Southampton.

I cannot fault my time with Optical Express. From consultation to post surgery check ups, the team were so welcoming and assuring. I was slightly anxious about the surgery but it was the best decision I ever made! I’m 22 and have worn glasses/contact lenses for 12 years, being able to wake up and see is something I only ever imagined. I absolutely loved the consultation I had. They let me know that my eyes are not for for LASIK, and I very much appreciated that as it shows they are an honest business and actually care about what's in your best interest. The guy who did my consultation was very nice and very kind. I forgot his name (I'm bad with names), but he should definitely get a raise lol. All the staff were lovely tbh. They don't try and rush you out the door. They explain everything to you in detail. And the whole thing is FREE?!? I would have paid for this! Anyhow, it was a very pleasant experience and they are very accommodating. Highly recommend! They don't put any pressure on you to get LASIK or anything like that. They give you 6 months to decide if you want LASIK after the consultation. Even if that time expires, you can just go in for another free consultation. Honestly a great and honest business.

I had some issues 3 to 4 month's after surgery but I was seen immediately and reassured that the condition would be treated with eye drops and monitored regularly. From my wife: Took 3 months to get laser treatment due to complications of wearing GP lenses and having dry eyes, so there was a lot of back and forth to clinic, changing to soft lenses then glasses and using eye drops. However, 3 months later I had successful surgery (idesign LASIK) on both my eyes and I could see again the next day! All information given was really comprehensive and helpful - it matched what my eyes were going through at each stage of recovery. Staff were very friendly. Clinical staff on the day of surgery made me comfortable and at ease. I'm very pleased that I was able to have the surgery!

It’s a really nice environment at Southampton’s Optical Express where the staff are very kind and friendly and they made me feel welcome. I was due to have NLR Lens replacement treatment to correct a cataract condition in my eye. I have also been short sighted. I was under the impression that I would be 2 hours after my appointment time but in reality this is a clinic and one should realistically allow a day (there was some confusion - hence loss of a star!). I was completely assured about the procedure after a meeting with the Surgeon and anaesthetist (you have a mild sedative). The procedure itself is no more than 10 minutes and I was able to go home. I had my other eye done the next day and given post operative eye drops and instructions with follow up checks. I was able to take the eye pad off after 4 hours and could see an immediate improvement in eye sight and was signed back for driving the following day. I went back to work after 3 days to give them a break. Fantastic experience and being able to see clearly again was unbelievable. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Like most people anything to do with the eyes filled me with 'what if something went wrong' thoughts. I didn't need to worry everything was as described by Optical Express. The process was completely painless and carried out by highly skilled professionals. The outcome following surgery far exceeded my expectations and for the first time in 30 years I am able to read newspapers,menus and even the small print in terms and conditions without the need for glasses. I am an active sportsman and have always found wearing glasses limiting in some sports (like swimming). Thanks to Optical Express that is now a thing of the past. Its not cheap but what price can you put on your eye sight! Worth every penny in my opinion.

Initially I had 3 hours of tests in Southampton which was amazing attention to detail and I then had talks with professionals there , this gave me the confidence to go ahead and have the procedure which I had the done in the Bristol clinic due to time scales I had . I must say it was nothing like I expected , I felt nothing getting the first eye done and on removing my eyepatch in the morning I could see clearly so the second day I was really looking forward to having the other eye done which also went well . Now 4 months down the line I’m having one eye lasered as the small print is still quite difficult to read . I am also having slight shadows at the sides of my eyes . All of this was explained a possibility on the information booklet so I’m not overly concerned and Southampton clinic are taking procedures to help correct this . Both Southampton and Bristol clinics have very profesional , and polite people working there attending to your every need . A big thanks to both Fatima a very sweet lady and Oscar my profesional in Southampton who are looking after me and my aftercare . I was fed up with wearing glasses all day at work, by the end of the day my ears would hurt from wearing them. As I am long sighted every time I needed to read something in a shop I would have to get my glasses out, read then put them away again it was very frustrating. I was very aprehensive before surgery, but it was totally pain free and would highly recommend the surgery. They did say I may still need reading glasses but I am very happy to say I don't, I am glasses free and very happy!

The consultation went well. I was very nervous about the whole process. Every step of the consultation was explained, particularly how they checked your eye health. This part of the consultation was definitely worth it. Just to know how your eyes are. The outcome of the consultation was clearly explained with many chances to ask questions throughout. There was no pressure to commit to further treatment if you were not comfortable with it. The staff were friendly and considerate. The only slight negative that there was a bit on a wait to be seen on arrival, but once the consultation started it was pretty slick.
